Annie was beyond excited for what's about to come. She could possibly perform at the Orpheum and she couldn't believe it. She's been to many concerts and watched artist get their big break there. It was her turn to shine and she couldn't wait to sing her heart out.
The boys had gone to the Orpheum to try to get the band booked for tonight. Panic! At The Disco was performing and needed an opening act because something mysterious happened to the original one. The boys asked Willie for his help and he did more than enough for them, so this means it was a straight and easy path for AJ and the Phantoms to get that opening spot.
"Annie, I'm so nervous!" Julie panicked, pacing around the studio as Annie sat on the couch, bouncing her knee up and down.
"Me too, but don't worry! We'll get booked," Annie assured her. "There's no other band that could be available at this short amount of time and the guys can handle it."
Julie groaned, shaking her head.
"But what if something happens?!"
"Don't say that," Annie told her and looked up at Julie. "The guys won't let us down again."
Julie stopped and sighed, "you're right."
Suddenly, the guys poofed in, and Annie gasped standing up next to Julie.
"You're back!" Annie beamed.
"Oh my gosh! What took your guys so long?!" Julie exclaimed, "did Willie do it?! Did you talk to them?! Did they watch?! Did they like us?! Are we playing?! Someone answer! Why's no one saying anything?!"
"Jules!" Annie called, taking Julie's arms to calm her down. "Let them talk."
"Woo! That's a lot of questions!" Reggie chuckled nervously. "Luke, you wanna talk this one?"
"Take a seat," Luke told the girls, who sat down on the couch and the guys kneeled in front of them. "It's fine, everything's fine!"
Annie smiled as Alex continued.
"Yeah. Julie should be getting a call right... now!"
Alex pointed at Julie's phone and everyone stared down at it waiting for a call. Nothing happened and the girls looked up nervously as the guys smiled at them.
"Ok. Right..." Alex repeated. "Now!"
The phone began to ring and it was an unknown caller. Julie and Annie yelled happily as the guys hi-fived successfully with smiles.
"Nailed it," Alex said.
Julie and Annie sat there for a moment before the guys motioned them to answer the call. Julie quickly answered and put it on speaker.
"Hello," Julie and Annie greeted.
"Hi, this is Tasha from the Orpheum in Hollywood," the caller greeted and suddenly everyone stood up, jumping and dancing around in excitement. "Is this Julie or Annie from AJ and The Phantoms?"
Everyone froze as Tasha spoke again and Annie picked up the phone to respond.
"Yes, this is Annie-"
"And Julie!"
"Hi," Tasha greeted again as everyone continued to dance and jump again like crazy. "Are you available to open for us tonight?"
"Yeah, totally!" Julie beamed
"Ok!" Tasha replied.
"Thank you so much!" Annie beamed as the guys picked up Alex and spun him in the air.
"See you then!" Tasha responded before hanging up.
"We're playing the Orpheum, baby!" Julie cheered. "Yeah!"
"Let's go!" Annie cheered.
"I'm swimming!" Alex chuckled, pretending to swim in the air.
——
Annie went home after that to find her outfit for tonight. She couldn't stop smiling, she was over the moon about playing the Orpheum. She knew what was gonna happen afterward, but she decided to enjoy the moment right now.
Annie decided on a short red cocktail dress, her hair in a ponytail, and sparkly heels. To top it all off, she had Reggie's jacket to wear with it. She hopes when Reggie crosses over, it won't go with him.
She didn't put on her outfit yet, she and Julie wanted to talk to the guys first. Annie wanted to speak with Reggie about something.
Annie and Julie walked into the studio to see the guys standing at the piano.
"Are you ready?!" Julie smiled, holding her dress in her hands. Annie had hers as well.
Annie and Julie's faces fell when they saw their worried expression.
"What's wrong?" Annie asked, walking closer.
"Yeah, we just got rocked pretty hard by one of those jolt things," Alex explained and Annie gave them a worried look.
"Pretty sure I ghost peed a little," Reggie mentioned as the guys stood in front of them
"We're fine," Luke assured them and Annie didn't believe them. They weren't fine.
"Actually, guys, I'm a little nervous," Julie admitted.
"Me too," Annie said, rubbing her arm. "Um, Reggie can I talk to you for a second?"
"Sure, yeah," Reggie said and the two walked over to the piano.
Julie pulled Luke over to talk to him and Alex waited patiently.
(I feel so bad about Alex. IM SORRY I LOVE HIM TRUST ME)
"What's up?" Reggie asked as Annie placed her dress down.
"Um..." Annie trailed off for a moment. "When you cross over... can you promise not to forget me? I know it sounds corny, but..."
Annie stopped speaking and Reggie softly smiled at her.
"It's not corny," Reggie told her. "I could never forget you... ever."
Annie smiled bashfully and Reggie blushed, rubbing his neck. Alex watched the two from the side and smiled at them.
"But, if you do, I have this for you," Annie pulled out a gold butterfly necklace. "Think of me when you wear it."
Reggie took the necklace and smiled.
"I'll always think of you then," Reggie said before he put it on. "Beautiful... just like you."
Annie looked down, smiling and Reggie fiddled with his fingers.
"Listen, Annie, I-"
"Guys, band circle!" Luke called and the two looked up at Luke, who was gesturing them and Alex over.
Reggie sighed, cursing that he couldn't finish what he was gonna say.
Everyone formed a circle and held hands, except Annie and Julie floated their hands above the guys.
"We don't know what brought us here, but... what we do know is... you're stars, Julie and Annie," Luke began and the girls smiled softly at him. "And just because this is our last night together, it doesn't mean we won't be watching you both from above... or," Luke looked down and Annie giggled quietly. "Now, let's go rock this show. Let's give 'em a night they'll be talking about 'til the sun come up."
Everyone nodded with chuckles.
"Legends on three!" Luke exclaimed and put his hand in.
"One!" Alex said with his hand in.
"Two," Reggie said with his hand in.
"Three," the girls said with their hands in.
"Legends!" All five of them yelled, throwing their hands up. A car horn honked, interrupting their moment.
"That's my dad, he's driving us there," Julie said.
"My mom's already there getting good seats," Annie mentioned. "So, we'll see you guys soon."
The girls walked by the guys to the door, but paused and turned to them. They gave them one last smile, before walking away to get ready to leave.
——
Annie and Julie arrived at the Orpheum and Annie was so starstruck. She got to meet the members of Panic! At the Disco, she felt so amazing. She couldn't describe how she was feeling. However, as she and Julie were getting ready the guys hadn't shown up and this worried her.
Annie had on her dress, her hair was done, her makeup was just about finished. She and Julie looked like real pop stars. Julie looked beautiful as well, with her purple dress, bejeweled jacket, and styled hair.
Annie walked over and hugged Julie, who was sitting at the mirror doing her lipgloss.
"Ready?" Annie smiled, staring at themselves in the mirror.
"No... but yes," Julie said with a nervous breathe.
"It's okay, I also threw up in the car," Annie chuckled and Julie scoffed, shaking her head.
"Hey, girls! I've got your roadie!" Rob, the stage manager, knocked on the dressing room door.
"Come in," Annie said, standing up straight and Flynn walked in with Rob behind her.
"Holograms are good to go, boss ladies," Flynn smiled.
"Best roadie ever," Julie joked and Annie giggled.
"I'll be back in a few minutes to walk you both to the stage," Rob informed the girls.
"Thanks, Rob," both girls smiled before Rob left.
"You see this backstage pass?" Flynn gasped in shock, "I had sushi with Brandon Urie.
"How did you not pass out?" Annie asked her and Flynn chuckled.
"I'm wondering the same thing!"
"Good for you, I threw up in the car on the way here," Julie remarked.
"Me too," Annie added. "That car is gonna reek for weeks."
"And you both still look amazing," Flynn grinned and the girls scoffed. "I made friends with the tech crew. You're gonna love what we have planned." Flynn paused and smiled, looking around. "The guys are here, right?"
"We haven't seen them," Annie told her.
"Wait. You don't think they changed their mind and took Caleb's offer, do you?" Flynn asked them.
"No, no, that's the last thing that they wanted," Julie protested, but she was still doubtful and Annie was the same.
Reggie wouldn't do that. Not after he promised her.
Flynn walked over and stood in front of the mirror with the girls. The three of them looking at one another.
"You guys are gonna kill it," Flynn told them. "We should get some snacks."
"I like your thinking," Annie chuckled before the girls went over to grab some snacks and talk before the show started.
——
After a little bit, Rob came knocking on the door again.
"Hey, girls, it's time!"
Annie and Julie were extremely worried, the guys still weren't here.
"Just a second," Annie told him and held her stomach. "Something's wrong."
Annie feels like something happened, something that the guys couldn't control. They got hit with those jolts pretty bad earlier.
"The boys were getting those jolts pretty bad as we were leaving," Julie told Flynn.
"I think something happened to them," Annie said in a soft and worried whisper.
"They wouldn't stand us up again," Julie continued. "They must've run out of time..."
Annie's blood went cold and her breath hitched. The thought of losing them without a goodbye, destroyed her. Her whole world felt like it was falling into a black abyss.
"I'm so sorry, girls," Flynn apologized, not knowing what to say.
"They didn't cross over," Annie shook her head, fighting back her tears as she continued. "They're... gone."
"And we didn't even get to say goodbye," Julie softly said with her voice cracking.
Annie shut her eyes, trying not to cry as Flynn got up and hugged them tightly.
"Hey, girls!" Rob knocked again, "you're on!"
Both girls let go of Flynn and rushed out of the dressing room, running past Rob.
"Wait! What are you two doing?" Flynn called, but the girls were already gone, running in separate ways.
"Where are they going?" Rob asked with alarm.
"Where do any of us really go?" Flynn sighed, before chasing after them.
Annie rushed out of the Orpheum crying and stopped in the middle of the alleyway. She stood there, unable to form words. She felt like her whole world was ripped out from under her, she lost some of the most important people in her life.
Annie walked over to a nearby wall and slid down it, sitting against it. She cried silently for a few moments, feeling the cold and gentle breeze against her skin.
She sniffled, rubbing her eyes, and took a deep exhale.
"Too whoever brought Luke, Alex, and Reggie to Julie and I, I'm sorry for not helping them enough. Rose or my mom, or whoever, I couldn't help them. I failed... they're gone." Annie looked up at the night sky, staring at the stars above her. "And I didn't get to say goodbye. I never told Luke to tell Julie how he feels, I never got to talk to Alex about Willie or my bi panics." Annie paused and looked down at her jacket, she gripped it close and sighed heavily. "I never told Reggie... I was in love with him. I know it's crazy, but I love him. And I'll never be able to say it. I can't say anything to them, because they're gone. They were my band... my family."
Annie leaned her head against the wall and her hands formed fists.
"Dad...if this is your revenge... then I guess you won," Annie sobbed. "You won, you happy? My life is now miserable because of you, so thanks. Thanks for nothing once again." Annie looked around with eye bloodshot eyes and tear-stained cheeks. "Mom, I know you're inside waiting, but if you can hear me... give me a sign that you know what's going on. If you know what's been happening this whole time, give me a damn sign, please. Someone, give me a sign that everything will be okay. Please..."
Annie finished her pleading and looked back down, sobbing to herself. Moments later, faint fluttering was heard in the distance and Annie looked up, hearing it get closer. Flying a few feet in front of her was a blue and purple butterfly that was getting closer.
Annie was speechless at the sight and rubbed her eyes, thinking it was her imagination, but it wasn't. The butterfly soon landed on her hand and stopped flapping its wings, before it shimmered and Annie formed a faint smile.
It was the same butterfly Annie drew, but it was real.
Annie let out a sniffled laugh and her smile grew.
"Thank you, mom," Annie whispered softly.
——
Annie returned to the dressing room and saw Julie there, fixing her makeup.
"Julie," Annie said with a smile and Julie turned to her with a hopeful smile.
"Annie," Julie said and the girls shared a hug. "You okay?"
"I am," Annie sighed. "You?"
"I am too," Julie said and held up a dahlia. "I think my mom gave this to me."
Annie smiled at the beautiful flower, "it's a sign."
"Yeah," Julie said and let out a exhale. "Ready? Let's go out there and perform. Together."
"Together," Annie repeated before both girls walked out together to perform. For the guys.
They walked by Flynn and Rob, stopping for a second.
"Signs!" They said both said with Julie holding her flower and Annie showing the butterfly. They continued to the stage together, not listening to Flynn's protest.
"Wait! Where are you going?!" Flynn called and Rob was in shock. "They're going on stage!"
"Hold on!" Rob said, holding his earpiece. "Annie and Julie just walked onto the stage."
"Those are my girls!" Flynn grinned.
"Welcome to Live at the Orpheum! Now give it up for AJ and the Phantoms!"
Everyone cheered as Annie and Julie walked onto the stage. The spotlight shined on the girls' faces, which made Annie feel her nerves again, but it went away when the butterfly flew off her hand and onto the keyboard. Julie placed her dahlia on the other side of the keyboard and Annie took her hand.
Annie looked around at the audience and spotted her mom, who was smiling at her and winked. Annie smiled back, feeling some confidence in herself again.
Julie took her microphone out of the stand and Annie followed, taking hers out too.
"Hi, I'm Julie!"
"And I'm Annie," Annie said.
"Tonight, we would like to dedicate this some to my mom," Julie announced. "Who's been there with me every time I've played. And thank her for... not giving up on me."
"We also want to dedicate tonight's performance to..." Annie let out an exhale as she spoke. "Three special friends, who have changed our lives completely. Who brought music back to us."
"It was their dream to play here, and... this is for them," Julie continued and the girls shared a smile. "This song is for anyone who's lost their way, step into your greatness. Don't give up. Stand Tall."
"Thank you," both girls said together and the audience cheered for them loudly. Julie put her microphone back into its stand to play the keyboard and Annie held hers.
Julie began to play the song for "Stand Tall" before she began to sing.
(Julie, Annie, Both)
Don't blink
No, I don't want to miss it
One thing, and it's back to the beginning
'Cause everything is rushing in fast
Keep going on never look back
And it's one, two, three, four times
That I'll try for one more night
Light a fire in my eyes
I'm going out of my mind
Whatever happens
Even if I'm the last standing
I'ma stand tall
I'ma stand tall
Whatever happens
Even when everything's down
I'ma stand tall
I'ma stand tall
I gotta keep on dreaming
'Cause I gotta catch that feeling
Whatever happens
Even if I'm the last standing
I'ma stand tall
I'ma stand tall
Suddenly, Alex appeared playing the drums and the girls smiled at the sight. Annie was in shock but was relieved.
She had a feeling they would show up, she had a feeling they weren't gone.
Moments later, Reggie appeared playing his bass and Annie gasped, feeling her heart almost stop. Her smile grew at the sight of him, she could've cried, but she kept her cool.
"Reggie," she mouthed to him and he winked at her before she began to sing.
(Annie)
Right now
I'm loving every minute
Hands down
Can't let myself forget it, no
'Cause everything is rushing in fast
Keep holding on, nevеr look back
Luke suddenly flashed in, but he was flashing in and out. Julie started to sing her part, she and Annie having hope he would fully appear.
(Julie)
And it's one, two, three, four times
That I'll try for one morе night
Light a fire in my eyes
Luke stopped glitching right as he started to sing and Annie cheered to herself. Her band is back.
(Luke)
I'm going out of my mind
The girls began to jump and dance around the stage as Luke did his solo.
Whatever happens
Even if I'm the last standing
I'ma stand tall
I'ma stand tall
(Annie, Julie, and Luke)
Whatever happens
Even when everything's down
I'ma stand tall
I'ma stand tall
I gotta keep on dreaming
'Cause I gotta catch that feeling
Whatever happens
Even if I'm the last standing
I'ma stand tall
I'ma stand tall
Annie and Reggie walked down the catwalk together as she and Julie sang together.
(Annie and Julie, Annie, Julie and Luke, Luke)
Like I'm glowing in the dark
I keep on going when it's all falling apart
Yeah I know it with all my heart
Ooh, ooh
Never look back
Alex stood up and sang his solo
(Alex)
Whatever happens
Even if I'm the last standing
I'ma stand tall
I'ma stand tall
Reggie faced Annie and she held the microphone to him, both staring into each other's eyes
(Reggie, Annie and Julie, All)
Whatever happens
Even if I'm the last standing
I'ma stand tall
I'ma stand tall
Stand tall
Stand tall
Annie and Reggie looked away from one another and the band all sang together.
(All)
Whatever happens
Even if I'm the last standing
I'ma stand tall
I'ma stand tall
Whatever happens
Even when everything's down
I'ma stand tall
I'ma stand tall
I gotta keep on dreaming
'Cause I gotta catch that feeling
Whatever happens
Even if I'm the last standing
I'ma stand tall
I'ma stand tall
The band finished their final note together and stood at the end of the catwalk. Reggie and Annie made eye contact, not wanting to look away because they knew it would be their last time seeing each other.
The band took in the applause and cheers, enjoying their final moments together. Annie couldn't explain the emotions she was feeling right now. She performed at the Orpheum with her band, her friends, she couldn't be more excited. However, the pain she was gonna feel soon haunted her, she knew she wouldn't see the boys again.
It was a bittersweet moment. A moment she would never forget and cherish for the rest of her life.
Reggie and Annie's eyes remained locked and they both smiled at one another.
"I love you," they both said together and unknowingly grabbed hands. They were too caught up in the moment to realize they were holding hands.
The band lifted their arms moments later and bowed. The boys and their instruments vanished and Julie and Annie stood up straight to see the boys were gone.
Annie let out a sigh, but she kept her smile and waved to her family and Julie's. She blew her mom a kiss, who returned one and April giggled, clapping happily.
Annie and Julie waved to the audience around them, soaking in more applause and cheers.
"Thank you," Annie thought. "Thank you for being my reason to Stand Tall."
——
Annie and Ginger walked to their front door, dancing and singing "Stand Tall" together. April was bouncing and clapping along. They got to the door and laughed together, enjoying the incredible moment.
"Annie, you were amazing tonight," Ginger smiled at her daughter. "I wish I could thank them for what they did for you. And Julie as well."
Annie grinned, "I think you already did. But I wanna thank you. Thank you, mom."
"You're welcome," Ginger smiled, hugging her daughter. "The butterfly is beautiful by the way."
"What?" Annie asked, pulling away in surprise.
"I saw the butterfly on the keyboard," Ginger said and tucked a piece of hair behind her daughter's ear. "Nice touch, right?"
Annie smiled and chuckled, "Yeah, um, it just appeared out of nowhere."
"Like those phantoms of yours," Ginger remarked. "So many mysteries. Must be magic or something."
Ginger went to the door and unlocked it to go inside.
Annie blinked a few times, shaking her head, and laughed.
"Maybe!"
Ginger walked inside with April in her arms and Annie let out an exhale.
"Signs..."
——
Annie went over to the Molina's house to say a final goodbye to the studio in hopes the guys would be watching from there. It felt clique and stupid, but she could still feel the guys. Like they were still here, it was weird.
Annie and Julie opened the doors to the studio. It was pitch black, it was empty, completely silent. The girls held hands as they looked around the room together, reminiscing the good times they had with the guys.
"I..." Julie began, "I know Annie and I already said this, but... thank you, guys."
"You're welcome."
Annie jumped back when she heard Reggie's voice in the darkness.
"What the-" Annie gasped in shock.
"Dude," Alex sighed and Annie shook her head, not believing what was happening.
Did they not cross over? Annie was so confused.
Julie went over and turned the lights on the reveal the guys laying on the ground lifeless, literally.
Annie covered her mouth in shock at the sight of the boys, not believing it. The guys let out light coughs and groans as the girls got closer.
"Why-why are you here?" Annie asked, barely managing to get out any sort of response, "We thought-"
Annie gasped when the guys got shocked again and she gasped as Julie began to cry with panic.
"We thought you crossed over?! Why didn't you cross over?!" Julie cried out to them.
The guys sat up in pain and agony. Annie's heart shattered at the sight of seeing all three of them in such pain, their tear-strained eyes, shaky body, and miserable faces destroyed her.
"I guess playing the Orpheum wasn't our unfinished business," Alex muttered out of breath.
"Point Caleb," Reggie coughed, leaning against the couch.
"We wanted you to think that we crossed over, so we pretended to," Luke admitted to the girls. "We just...," he paused and looked down for a moment. "We had nowhere else to go."
Annie's tears fell down her cheeks after Luke said that.
"We thought you both go straight to bed," Reggie mentioned.
"Yeah, well," Alex exhaled, managing to stand up. "I knew they were gonna come out here, but nobody ever listens to me-"
Alex got cut off by another jolt shocking them and Annie gasped, shaking her head.
"You have to save yourselves!" Annie cried, walking to each of them individually with Julie.
"Go join Caleb's club. Please!" Julie pleaded, "it's better than not existing at all.
"Just go! Poof! Go! Do it for me! Do it for us! Please!" Annie begged, falling onto the chair in front of Reggie, who was staring at her with his teary eyes.
"We're not going back there," Reggie denied and Annie sat up, looking at him.
"Reggie, please..." Annie begged, sobbing quietly.
Luke stood up and approached Julie.
"No music is worth making, girls. If we're not making it with you two," Luke told them, looking back at Annie for a moment.
"No regrets," Reggie mumbled to Annie. Annie stared at him before she leaned forward and tackled him in a hug. Reggie reacted fast, hugging her back tightly. He squeezed her tight, feeling his tears fall onto her shoulder. Luke and Julie noticed their hug and were shocked.
It took Annie a second before she realized what she was doing. She was hugging Reggie, she was hugging him.
"Wait," Annie said with shock and pulled away from him, keeping him at arm's length. "Did we just-"
"We just hugged," Reggie chuckled with disbelief and a smile.
"Julie..." Annie said, but Julie was already hugging Luke.
"I love you guys," Julie cried and Annie smiled, looking at Alex. She motioned him over and Alex walked over, holding out his hand. Annie's hand grabbed his hand and they both smiled, chuckling.
Suddenly Annie, Alex, and Reggie's bodies began to glow as well as Luke and Julie's. Annie felt a weird tingle in her body and her body felt stronger than before.
Luke and Julie pulled away to see the glow and were shocked that they touched.
"How can I feel you?" Julie asked Luke.
"I...I...I don't know," Luke said with confusion and Annie looked at Reggie, taking his face in her hand.
"Someday," she said
Reggie smiled back, "someday."
Luke and Julie took each other's faces in their hands for a moment, before looking back.
"I feel stronger," Luke said."
"Me too," Reggie smiled and Alex nodded.
"Guys, join," Julie said and the three got up, joining the two. All five of them hugged, feeling everyone's arms and warmth.
Annie couldn't believe it, but whatever was happening she was thankful for. Her boys were back, and she couldn't be happier than right now.
The group pulled away, looking up at the glow.
"I...I... I don't feel as weak anymore," Reggie said and Annie grinned.
"Me either," Alex agreed. "Not that, you know, I was ever that weak."
Everyone chuckled, before the guy's purple stamps shined and Annie moved back as the stamps lifted off their skin and into the air. The stamps vanished with the glow and Annie blinked a few times, taking in everything that just happened.
"What do you think that means?" Annie asked, looking up.
"I think that band's back," Luke smiled and Annie covered her mouth in shock and happiness.
"I promised I wouldn't leave you," Reggie told Annie with a wink.
"You did," Annie smiled, and the two locked eyes again, getting lost in each other's eyes.
"If you're gonna kiss, do it now," Alex told them and Luke and Julie chuckled at them.
"What?" Annie scoffed with a heavy blush, "kiss? I-"
Reggie gently took Annie's chin and turned her face towards him, grinning at her.
Annie's face heated up more at this and she bashfully chuckled.
"Someday?"
"Someday," Annie repeated before Reggie leaned down and attached his lips to her. The kiss lasted a few seconds and the other three stood there, smiling at the happy couple. They finally were able to get their moment.
When the two pulled away, they were blushing and smiling from ear to ear.
"I've been wanting to do that for a long time now," Reggie chuckled and Annie giggled.
"Me too," she said.
"What a happy ending," Julie cheered and Annie blushed, looking away.
"It was worth the wait," Annie mentioned.
"You guys think we could try that hug thing one more time?" Alex asked and everyone chuckled, before hugging each other again.
They pulled away again and Reggie laughed.
"I like this!"
"Me too!" Annie said before they hugged one last time.
"We played the Orpheum!" Julie cheered before everyone began to laugh and jump around in a circle.
"Wooo!" Annie laughed. "AJ and the Phantoms are back!"
Annie had tears of joy falling from her cheeks. She had everything she wanted, her family, her band, her friends. She had everything she wanted and she couldn't be happier.
"This is what I always wanted," Annie thought. "This is All I Want."
——
~Midnight~
Annie and Reggie sat on top of the roof of the studio, watching the stars in the night sky. Annie was leaning against Reggie's chest as his arms wrapped around her.
They don't know how or why they could finally touch, but they were forever grateful. They can finally be with one another and just be happy.
"I still can't believe it," Annie smiled. "We're here, together, like I don't understand"
"I don't either, but I'm not complaining," Reggie remarked. "I finally have what I want. I have you, I can finally hold you and tell you how much you mean to me."
Reggie planted a gentle kiss on her cheek and Annie blushed, giggling. That's gonna take some getting used to.
"I guess the world wants us to be happy," Annie said. "And I'm very happy."
"Me too," Reggie said. "So... does this make us a couple?"
Annie smiled, looking back at him.
"You want to?" Annie asked and Reggie nodded with a soft smile.
"Yes. Annie, will you be my girlfriend?"
Annie smiled bashfully, "Yes, I'll be your girlfriend."
Reggie pulled Annie in for a kiss, caressing her cheek gently. Annie's arms wrapped around his neck, holding the back of his neck. The couple kisses for a few more seconds, before pulling away and resting their foreheads against each other.
"I love you," Annie softly sighed.
"I love you," Reggie said back.
(Reggie, Annie)
I fell in love with the only girl
Who knows what I'm about
I fell in love with a boy
And I can't tell if I fell out
After all said and done
I can't just pretend I'm moving on
Is it just a part we're playing?
'Cause it don't feel like we're faking
(Both, Annie)
When we're underneath the lights
My heart's no longer broken
For a moment
Just for a moment
When we're singing side by side
There's so much left unspoken
For a moment
Just for a moment
A moment in love (Just for a moment)
A moment in love (Just for a moment)
But is a moment enough?
(Reggie, Annie)
Way, way back then
Always dreamed it's you and me until the end
Now, we can't play pretend
And I'm scared to talk to my best friend
Should I stay or let you go?
Will you love me when the curtains close?
Is it just a part we're playing?
'Cause it don't feel like we're faking
(Both, Reggie)
When we're underneath the lights
My heart's no longer broken
For a moment
Just for a moment
When we're singing side by side
There's so much left unspoken
For a moment
Just for a moment
A moment in love (Just for a moment)
A moment in love (Just for a moment)
But is a moment enough?
(Annie)
Maybe
Your heart still stops when you see me
Maybe it's worth another try
Better place, better time
(Both)
When we're underneath the lights
My heart's no longer broken
For a moment
Just for a moment (Just for a moment)
When we're singing side by side
There's so much left unspoken
For a moment
Just for a moment
A moment in love (Just for a moment)
A moment in love (Just for a moment)
But is a moment enough?
When we're underneath the lights
My heart's no longer broken
For a moment
Just for a moment
Annie and Reggie finished singing, now standing on the rooftop holding hands. Reggie leaned down and kissed Annie with her kissing back immediately.
