i got the music
————————
Julie opened the doors to the high school and walked in with confidence and was jamming out to a song she was listening to.

(Julie)
Ain't gonna fight it 'cause it's useless
I can't get this music out of my head
It's like the beat is taking over
Weight off of my shoulders, dancing instead
And something's feeling different in the hallways
Something's looking, looking like it's changed
I've been moving to the rhythm for the whole day
A million lyrics running through my brain

(Julie, Annie, and Flynn)
Everybody here we go
This thing is unstoppable
Haven't felt this in a minute, it's incredible
I got the music
Back inside of me
Every melody and chord
Can't stop the music
Back inside my soul
And it's stronger than beforе
I got the music
It won't let me go
I got thе music
Just like a radio
I got the music
Streaming from my soul
And it's stronger than before

Annie slid into the scene with a fun outfit on and fist-bumped Julie, before singing.

(Annie)
Don't care if everybody's watching
Silence ain't an option, it's out of my hands
I feel the beat taking me higher
Baby, this is fire, this is my jam
And something's feeling different in the hallways
Something's looking, looking like it's changed
I've been moving to the rhythm for the whole day
A million lyrics running through my brain

(Julie, Annie, and Flynn)
Everybody here we go
This thing is unstoppable
Haven't felt this in a minute, it's incredible
I got the music back inside of me
Every melody and chord
Can't stop the music
Back inside my soul
And it's stronger than before
I got the music
It won't let me go
I got the music
Just like a radio
I got the music
Streaming from my soul
And it's stronger than before

By now the whole school had gotten into the song and was dancing with Julie and Annie. They were riding on top of the janitors' cart and jamming out.

(Julie; Annie)
Can you hear it?
Can you hear the music?
I got the music back inside of me
Can you hear it?
Can you hear the music?
I got the music back inside of me

Flynn walked into the scene with her fun outfit on and began to rap.

(Flynn; Julie, Flynn, and Annie)
Yeah, we got the music
Back inside, let's do this
Back like it's exclusive
Wavy like a cruise ship
Look at Julie and Annie go
They all in the zone
Headlining a show
Mic drop and we go
Ah, boom cat, boom, boom cat
That's the sounds that you get the marching band
Like, hey, let me hear the drumline
Like, hey, that bassline cray
This one is ridiculous
Whoa, no, sir, they can't handle this
No, we on top of the world, never looked down
We got the melody back, can't stop now

An instrument break came on and some students began to dance for a bit before everyone gathered into the cafeteria to dance together.

(Julie, Annie, and Flynn)
Ahhhhh!
I got the music
Back inside of me
Every melody and chord
Can't stop the music
Back inside my soul
And it's stronger than before
I got the music
It won't let me go
I got the music
Just like a radio
I got the music
Streaming from my soul
And it's stronger than before

Annie and Julie both turned and fell into the crowds' arms as they chanted their names.

——

Annie and Julie both approached their lockers together after their fantasy flash mob, still listening to their music.

"Hey!" A member of the marching band called, approaching the two girls and tapped their shoulders.

The girls removed their earbuds and looked at him.

"Mm?"

"Are you done?" He asked them and the girls were confused. "I need my sticks back."

Annie and Julie reached into their back pockets and saw one drum stick each. Confused, they took them out and handed them to the boy, who took them and walked away.

The girls gave him a sheepish smile, before getting back to their own little worlds. Annie hasn't been this happy and groovy since before her dad left and she's so glad she's back. She has her regular style back and best of all she's back to songwriting. Annie and Reggie both worked for hours last night writing music and she got to know him so well. She has to admit she's fallen for the ghost boy in the leather jacket and doesn't know how to feel about it. He's a ghost, she can't even touch him, so how can she even have feelings for him?

Flynn walked up to Annie and Julie and chuckled at the little jam session they were having with themselves.

"Hi, Flynn," Annie greeted with a bright smile.

"Hey, what's up?" Julie greeted.

"Nothing, it's just nice seeing you both back to your weirdo selves," Flynn remarked and Annie giggled.

"Thanks?" Julie questioned.

"Feels so great," Annie told her.

"So, how's the band? Still hot, still talented?" Flynn asked with a grin and looked around, before whispering. "Still dead?"

"Very hot," Annie winked and Flynn smirked, fist-bumping her. "Reggie and I wrote music for hours last night and I really loved it."

"Amazing," Julie chuckled. "Like Reggie and Annie, Luke and I spent the whole weekend writing songs."

"Wanna hear some of them?" Annie asked, holding up her songbook.

"Duh!" Flynn said and Julie closed her locker before the three headed for the music room.

The girls walked into the music room and went up to the piano.

"It felt so great to have the love for writing music again," Annie sighed with a smile.

"Yeah, like it was flowing through like when we used to write with my mom," Julie remarked.

"Can I go first?" Annie eagerly asked and Julie nodded as Annie sat down at the piano.

"Cool!" Annie smiled and opened her songbook, flipping to a song she really loved. "Okay, so, this is a song Reggie helped me come up with. It's about me and how much I've changed."

Flynn and Julie smiled as Annie played the notes on the piano and sang a little bit of it.

(Annie)
She's so gone
That's so over now
She's so gone
You won't find her around
You can look but you won't see
The girl I used to be
'Cause she, she's so gone

Annie finished and Julie and Flynn applauded her work, loving the song.

"I love that!" Julie smiled, "it really shows how much you've gone in the past couple of weeks.

"Yeah, Reggie really helped with this song too. Helping me express myself," Annie giggled and Julie looked at the next song in her book.

"Oh, what's this?" Julie smirked and Flynn looked over as Annie blushed. "A duet? With Reggie?"

"This is so cute," Flynn said.

Annie awkwardly laughed, "just a small one... kind of a rewrite from the one Ricky and I wrote."

"Ugh!" Julie and Flynn groaned and Annie laughed.

"Thank goodness it's rewritten," Flynn said as Annie got up and closed her book. "Reggie is much better."

"Definitely," Julie nudged my arm before she sat down at the piano. "Okay, this the first song Luke and I wrote. Here's a bit of the chorus."

Julie played the notes and began to sing.

(Julie)
Cause we're standing on the edge of great.
Great
Great

"Amazing!" Annie smiled.

"Wow! I like it!" Flynn nodded, "definite Gaga vibes."

"Thanks!" Julie smiled, "I think we have an anthem with this one. It's something my mom and I were working on.

Annie gave her a soft smile as Flynn dropped her arms.

"Luke and I finished it," Julie continued. "Check it out."

(Julie)
And it's one, two, three, four times
That I've tried for one more night
Light a fire in my eyes
I'm going out of my mind

"That's... that's beautiful," Flynn nodded and Annie agreed.

"Yeah."

"And my girls got crushes and their names are Luke and Reggie," Flynn continued and Annie chuckled, turning bright red.

"Flynn..." she groaned. "They're ghosts!"

"Yeah, no, they're ghosts!" Julie protested.

"Cute ghosts," Flynn pointed out and Annie smiled, thinking of Reggie.

"With an adorable personality."

"And a perfect smile," Julie added and Annie giggled in agreement.

"I knew it!" Flynn laughed, "just remember they're made of air."

"Cute air!" Annie remarked and Flynn gave them a look.

"Just don't get hurt, okay?" Flynn asked them, "don't want you to end up like Annie with ya know who."

"Reggie's different," Annie reasoned. "He cares about me."

"Obviously, you guys have a connection," Flynn mentioned to the both of them. "Everybody's talking about when you'll play again."

"Play again?" Julie questioned, "we don't even have anything planned. Luke and I and Annie and Reggie have just been focused on writing songs."

"Lucky for you, your marketing team has been way ahead of you," Flynn told them.

"We don't have a marketing team," Annie objected.

Flynn dug into her bag and pulled a flyer to the dance tonight, showing it to the girls.

"Yes, you do!" She smiled and slid it to them in the piano. "And surprise, you're playing the school dance and I'm DJ-ing too!"

Annie took the flyer and shared it with Julie, so she can see it. It has their unofficial band name that wasn't even the name.

"I posted it all over social media," Flynn added. "You two have an excellent marketing team".

"AJ and their Hologram Band?" Annie asked and made a face, "who's AJ?"

"You and Julie. I took the first letters of your name and made AJ," Flynn explained. "Sounds much better than Annie and Julie and it isn't as long of a name."

"No, no," Julie protested. "This is in front of the whole school!"

"We aren't ready!" Annie added, before Flynn's phone buzzed.

"Sorry!" Flynn apologized, checking her phone. "You already have 68 likes!"

Flynn made her way out of the music room and Julie and Annie huffed, following her out.

"Wait!"

——

-Julie's House; Studio-

Annie walked into the studio and no one was around, which confused her. She looked at her phone and checked the time, making sure she wasn't early or anything.

"Where are they?" Annie asked, "guys?!"

No one answered her and she shook her head as she walked toward the piano. She pulled up the sleeves of her pink sweater, before sitting at the piano and lifted the lid to reveal the keys.

She got out her songbook and opened it to a very special song she wrote a long time ago. She exhaled a shaky breath and set the book down in front of her, before placing her fingers on the keys.

She took one last exhale, before playing the notes and singing.

(Annie)
Ohhhh, oooooh
Mmmmmm...
I will not make the same mistakes that you did
I will not let myself
Cause my heart so much misery
I will not break the way you did
You fell so hard
I've learned the hard way
To never let it get that far
Because of you
I never stray too far from the sidewalk
Because of you
I learned to play on the safe side so I don't get hurt
Because of you
I find it hard to trust not only me but everyone around me
Because of you
I am afraid
I lose my way
And it's not too long before you point it out
I cannot cry
Because I know that's weakness in your eyes
I'm forced to fake
A smile, a laugh every day of my life
My heart can't possibly break
When it wasn't even whole to start with
Because of you
I never stray too far from the sidewalk
Because of you
I learned to play on the safe side so I don't get hurt
Because of you
I find it hard to trust not only me but everyone around me
Because of you
I am afraid
I watched you die
I heard you cry every night in your sleep
I was so young
You should have known better than to lean on me
You never thought of anyone else
You just saw your pain
And now I cry in the middle of the night
For the same damn thing
Because of you
I never stray too far from the sidewalk
Because of you
I learned to play on the safe side so I don't get hurt
Because of you
I try my hardest just to forget everything
Because of you
I don't know how to let anyone else in
Because of you
I'm ashamed of my life because it's empty
Because of you
I am afraid
Because of you (oh)
Because of you (mm, oh)

Annie let out a soft sigh as she finished and clapping was heard behind her, which made her yell and jump. She turned and saw Reggie standing there with a large smile and clapping his hands.

"Reggie!" She gasped with her hand on her heart, "stop doing that!"

"Sorry," he apologized and sat next to her. "But that... was beautiful."

Annie smiled and grabbed her songbook, "thanks."

"I don't remember seeing that in your book," Reggie mentioned as Annie closed her book.

"Cuz it's very personal to me," she replied. "It was the last song wrote before I stopped writing. It's about my dad and my ex as well I guess..."

"Oh," Reggie said in a quiet voice and Annie nodded, looking down. "Ex? Who's your ex? If you don't mind me asking, I just would like to know, so I can go and teach them a lesson for hurting you."

Annie chuckled at Reggie, who was blushing bright red. Annie had no idea ghosts could blush.

"Nobody important honestly," Annie sighed, shaking her head. "Seven months wasted on absolutely nothing. He cheated on me and lied to me, but it's okay. It's in the past.

"I'm sorry, Annie," Reggie apologized, placing his hand on hers, but it phased through. "He's an idiot for not seeing how amazing you are."

Annie blushed, looking at Reggie, who was giving her a loving look. Annie got lost in his bright green eyes and felt her heart skip a beat, wishing she could do more than just stare and talk to him. She wanted to hug Reggie and just stay there forever, but she can't.

Reggie and Annie looked at their hands, which weren't connected and just phasing through one another.

"Man..." Reggie sighed and pulled his hand away.

"Yeah..." Annie sighed, putting her hand on her lap. "Maybe one day we'll be able to touch."

"Maybe..." he sighed and Annie gave him a smile, which he returned with a cheeky one.

This ghost boy was gonna drive Annie crazy, but she's all for crazy.

——

Not too long later, Julie and Luke arrived and the girls told Luke and Reggie about the school dance gig. Alex wasn't around, because he was with his ghost friend, Willie, but the four of them discussed the phone anyway. Annie felt guilty not having Alex around, but the dance is tonight and they needed to get to work right away. Hopefully, he'll show up soon.

Annie had an idea to sing the song that she and Reggie wrote because it meant a lot to her and wants to perform it to show that she's grown a lot lately.

"We're playing a school dance?" Reggie asked, "sweet!"

"It's not exactly the strip," Luke remarked with a downcast look, and Julie and Annie rolled their eyes. Julie was watering the plants in the studio, while Annie was writing in her songbook.

"And you're not exactly alive either, so maybe you should be happy we have our first gig," Reggie reasoned and Annie nodded, closing her songbook.

"Jules and I weren't in love with the idea at first either, but it can be a great way for us to build a following, right?" Annie questioned, standing up from the piano bench.

"Yeah. Yeah, we need to play wherever we can, whenever we can," Reggie agreed.

"No, you're right," Luke suddenly agreed. "Let's rock those kids' faces off and then play the clubs."

"And then record a single that gets a billion streams," Julie added.

"Like Taylor Swift!" Annie beamed.

"I don't know what that is or who that is, but hopefully it gets us a manager and a tour," Luke remarked.

"And then we'll release a bunch of hit albums," Julie continued.

"Put out a country album that does surprisingly well," Reggie mentioned and the girls gave him a look. "I shred on the banjo."

"Then I'll bust out my fiddle," Annie giggled and Reggie grinned, giving her an air fist bump.

"And before you know it, we're being inducted into the Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame," Luke exclaimed, hitting the piano with his fists.

"But one of us isn't there, because we had a blowout in 2032," Reggie objected. "My money's on Alex. He's just so sensitive."

"What are we waiting for?" Luke asked, "let's get rehearsing!"

"Uh, where is Alex?" Annie asked, noticing his obvious absence.

——

Luke, Reggie, Annie, and Julie began to rehearse for the dance. Annie suggested her song and the three loved the idea, which made's Annie's day. The group had come up with a good beat and melody and had fit in her lyrics with it.

Annie was gonna be the main lead in this song with Julie singing a part or two, while the guys sang the harmonies and main chorus. Annie was very happy to sing her song and was glad to get to sing it with her band.

Luke, Reggie, and Julie played the melody as Annie was lightly singing into the microphone.

"One more time," Luke suggested and Annie repeated the lyrics.

Annie finished off the chorus and the group smiled at each other.

"Love it," Annie giggled.

"Great song, Annie," Luke winked at her and Annie gestured to Reggie.

"Hey, Reggie helped me out," Annie mentioned and Reggie smiled, shrugging.

"Yeah, yeah, but this is all you," Reggie remarked and Annie blushed, looking down at her feet.

The group was interrupted by a knock on the door and it opened only for Ginger to walk in with April in her hip.

"Oh, hi, mom?" Annie asked her and chuckled.

"Hi, Ms. Walker," Julie greeted and Reggie and Luke waved, even though she can't see them. "Hi, April!"

April waved at Julie with a smile.

"Hi, Ginger! Hi April!" Reggie greeted warmly and Annie gave him a sweet smile.

"What you doing here?" Annie asked her mom.

"I got called to work an extra shift at the diner," Ginger told her daughter. "Mind watching your sister until you leave for the dance? She won't be a hassle I promise, you know her."

Annie looked back at the others and they didn't really seem to mind.

"She won't be an issue, it's okay," Julie cut in for Annie and Ginger smiled with relief.

"Thank you," Ginger said and handed April to Annie, who kissed her sister's cheek.

"Hey, Ape!" Annie smiled at her sister and April giggled at her.

"Annie!"

"Have fun, kids," Ginger told the girls. "I'll be home around eleven!"

Ginger waved before exiting the studio and Annie smiled at the others.

"This isn't a problem, is it?" Annie asked the guys, "she's okay?"

"Yeah, totally!" Luke smiled, " she's adorable."

"Very," Reggie added and April touched the keyboard, playing a few notes.

"Gentle," Annie told her sister, taking her hand off the keys.

"I see a future musician," Reggie grinned and Annie chuckled, tickling April's stomach.

"Hundred percent," Annie agreed and Luke and Julie smiled at one another. They can see the obvious crushes Annie and Reggie have on one another.

Reggie smiled at the sight of the two sisters and adored how Annie was with April.

Alex walked through the doors moments later.

"Oh, hey, Alex!" Reggie greeted and Annie waved at him with April in her arms.

"Where have you been, man? We need to start practicing?" Luke asked Alex.

"Yeah? For what?" Alex asked before the doors opened and in walked Flynn.

"Dance news!" Flynn announced, "I don't have a date, but I don't care because I'm so psyched to see you guys perform!"

"Aw, man! We're playing a dance!" Alex groaned and Flynn smiled at April, tickling her belly.

"Hi, April!" Flynn smiled and April giggled at her.

"Of course, dude. That's how we get a following nowadays," Luke remarked, sitting on the chair.

Julie chuckled, "yeah, get with the program, Alex."

"What?! The guys are here!" Flynn said and smiled, waving the opposite way of the guys, "hey guys!"

"Other way, sweetie," Annie grinned and Flynn turned, waving again, which made Reggie wave back.

"Ok, well, now that Alex has graced us with his presence, can we start working?" Luke asked and Annie nodded, standing up and walked over to an empty chair to put April down.

"Yes! Please!" Annie said and sat April down in a chair a few feet beside Luke.

"We're gonna rehearse, you wanna stick around?" Julie asked Flynn as Annie returned to her original spot next to Julie.

"I'm supposed to blow up 500 balloons for the school dance, but this sounds way better," Flynn smiled.

"Hey, Julie! Remember those orbs in dad's picture!?" Carlos called, walking into the studio and phasing through Alex. "I... I think they're ghosts. But don't worry. This room is..."

Carlos set down the picture and Annie and Julie looked at it to see three orbs floating above the piano.

"Is..." Carlos trailed off again, looking around the room. "This room is clean. I'm not getting the ghost tingles."

"Wrong again, little dude," Reggie smiled and Annie giggled quietly.

"Have no fear. If they come back, I will protect you, because I am the man of the house," Carlos declared.

"Isn't dad supposed to be the man of the house?" Julie asked him and Carlos slid over to Annie with a grin.

"I can be the man of your house," Carlos winked at her and Annie chuckled, moving him away from her.

"To close," Annie said. "And we're good, short stack."

"One day," Carlos shook his head and Annie glanced at Reggie, who was making a jealous face at Carlos. Carlos then pulled out a container of salt, "according to the internet, salt burns ghosts souls out."

This freaked the three ghosts and the girls out as Carlos continued.

"A little sprinkle will keep them from ever coming in here," Carlos explained before he threw salt on the exact areas where the ghosts were.

"Ohhh!"

"Ahhh!"

"Noooo! Oh god. I'm..." Alex cried lastly for a few moments before he sat up unharmed. "I'm fine! Totally fine."

Annie sighed with relief and nudged Flynn, motioning her to distract Carlos.

"Oh! Carlos, you know who's hungry? Me!" Flynn told Carlos, "um... salt me a path to the kitchen."

Carlos nodded, before grabbing the photo and following Flynn out the door.

"Should we try this again?" Annie suggested, feeling the tension lift in the room.

"Yes, please!" Luke pleaded, standing up. "But remind us later, there's some Sunset Curve songs we want to show you."

"Oh! Show us now," Julie smiled at him and Annie nodded, sitting down next to Julie.

"Yeah, okay," Luke nodded and went over to his songbook, but stopped when he saw a paper inside it. "Home Is Where My Horse is. Reggie, stop putting your country songs in my journal."

"That was a gift!" Reggie objected, walking over and picking up the song.

"Thanks, buddy," Luke said, before going over to the girls.

"Yeah, you should maybe circle back..." Reggie began, but stopped when Luke asked wasn't listening.

Annie looked at Reggie and gave him a soft smile, interested in what country songs he wrote. Annie loves country music and she also likes Reggie, so that seems like the perfect duo.

"I dog-eared the ones that I think you both would slay," Luke told the girls as Julie and Annie skimmed through the song. Annie and Julie flipped to one and smiled at one called "Unsaid Emily."

"Who's Emily?" Annie asked and Luke reached for it, but the girls moved away.

"That one's not dog-eared-"

Julie looked at the song and read a line, "if you could only know that I never let you go."

"Aw, Luke, I didn't know you such a romantic," Annie winked at him.

"He's not. That one's actually about-"

"No one," Luke interrupted Alex. "That's just something that I tried, and I-" Luke reached for the book, but Julie leaned back. "But if you go to the next dog-eared page, I got a tune that's... it's got a killer beat."

Luke moved back a little and held his guitar in his hands, before playing a rock and roll melody. The girls nodded, already have heard that song from another artist.

"So, you wanna sample?" Annie asked him as Julie sat back down and she leaned on the keyboard.

"What do you mean sample?" Luke asked her.

"Sample someone else's music," Julie explained. "Me, Annie, her mom, and my mom used to sing that song at the top of our lungs in the car all the time. It's a classic Trevor Wilson."

"Nope! It's a classic our song," Luke corrected, picking up the journal.

"Pure Sunset Curve," Reggie remarked. "Never even heard of Trevor Wilson."

"Maybe you're both mixing it up, you know, with another song," Alex shrugged and Annie shook her head.

"Jules and I don't mix up songs, trust us," Annie scoffed. "His daughter, Julie, and I used to be best friends."

"Yeah, we used to hang out at their place all the time. We know that song," Julie continued and Annie rolled her eyes at the mention of Carrie. "Annie and Carrie sang a duet at the talent show together when they dated-"

"We didn't date! It was a fling," Annie protested and sighed.

"You're Bisexual?" Reggie asked her and Annie nodded.

"Yes, and proud of it," Annie smiled and this made Alex smile happily, knowing another lgbtq person was here.

"Cool..." Alex smiled.

"Here," Julie said and got out her laptop, opening it. "We'll prove it."

Julie typed in Trevor Wilson's name, before showing the guys.

"His first album had a bunch of hits, but none of his latest stuff is as good," Julie explained and the guys leaned in to get a closer look.

"That's Bobby!" Luke said with shock.

"Seriously, we just told you his name is Trevor," Annie objected.

"Okay, great, then... then he changed it, all right?" Alex told the girls. "That's definitely Bobby. He was our rhythm guitarist."

Annie finally realized why there were four guys on the Sunset Curve page they looked at. She knew one of them looked familiar.

"Trevor Wilson was in your band?" Julie scoffed.

"I can't get over how old he looks," Reggie cringed.

"Oh..." Alex shook his head. "He looks like a substitute teacher."

"Julie... Annie..." Luke said softly. "What were his other hits?"

"Get Lost," Annie told him.

"Yeah," Luke said and removed his guitar strap. "I wrote that."

"Long Weekend?" Julie asked.

"Yeah, Luke wrote that one too," Reggie told the girls.

"Crooked Teeth?" Annie asked, feeling nervous.

"And that," Alex said. "It was about Reggie."

"What?!" Reggie gasped, "I thought it was as about you! I don't like that song anymore."

He stomped his foot and sat back down on the stool, which made Annie go up to him.

"Your teeth are beautiful," Annie told Reggie, who showed her a small smile with a blush.

"Wait..." Julie said and sighed. "This is... freaking me out."

"Me too!" Annie exclaimed, "Trevor's songs are kind of big to Jules and me! He's the one who introduced us to rock."

"Yeah. Luke introduced you two to rock," Alex corrected and Luke threw a dart at the dartboard.

"So, this whole time I thought you were connected to my mom, but instead you're connected to Carrie's dad?" Julie asked and Annie shook her head, covering her face.

"Out of all the people, it had to be the one girl who had it out for us," Annie sighed and Reggie went to comfort her, but restrained himself when he remembered he couldn't touch her.

"Sorry, Annie," Reggie softly apologized and she looked at him with a sad smile.

"All right, well, add it to our list of questions," Alex remarked.

"Back when Carrie and we were friends, the four of us used to talk about music all the time," Julie explained as Luke continued to throw darts. "And she never mentioned you guys."

"And that's unbelievable!" Luke exclaimed, "okay, he can take all the credit and he doesn't even mention us?"

"And he's rich," Annie added as she walked back over to Julie. "He has his own helicopter."

Luke groaned angrily, throwing the last dart at the board.

"He has... he has... a helicopter?" Alex asked with shock, standing up with the guys moving closer and Annie changed the image to show Trevor's mansion.

"With his face on it," Julie added.

"And he parks it in front of that hotel?" Reggie asked.

"No. He gets to park it in front of his mansion," Annie corrected him.

"Mansion!?" Reggie gasped.

"Dude, we live in a garage!" Alex complained to Luke.

"It's not about the money! It's about the music!" Luke exclaimed with anger.

"It's a little bit about the money though!" Reggie protested.

"A little bit about the money," Alex repeated in a softer voice.

"He could've shared it with our families!" Reggie reasoned, "maybe then my parents wouldn't have had their house turned into a bike shack."

"What he did is steal our legacy," Luke told the guys and Reggie folded his arms before Luke turned to the girls. "Where does he live?"

"Above the beach in Malibu," Julie informed them.

"Let's go teach him a lesson," Reggie darkly said as Luke picked up his jacket.

"No! Wait guys!" Annie protested as Julie stood up.

"Guys!" She called, "we have to rehearse for the dance!"

"This is our first gig!" Annie continued, but the guys vanished from the room without another word. The girls sighed and Annie walked over, picking up April from the chair.

"Okay, boys!" Flynn clapped her hands, entering the studio. "Break time's over, okay? Get to playing. Mama needs her eye candy."

"The eye candy left," Annie told Flynn, whose face fell immediately.

"I think we just unleashed three angry ghosts on the world," Julie sighed, shaking her head.

"But, I think we know where they're going," Annie smiled at the girls and Julie nodded. "Come on!"

Annie rushed out the door as Julie and Flynn followed her out.

"Ray! Can you watch April for a little?!"

——

-Wilson's House-

After dropping April off with Ray, the girls headed toward Carrie's house to make sure the guys don't do anything stupid. The dance was in a couple of hours and the song for the dance wasn't perfect, but it was okay to perform. After hopping over the security gate and making sure they weren't seen, the girls saw the front door and rushed over quickly.

Annie rang the doorbell and Carrie opened the door.

"Heyyyy!" The three girls greeted her.

"What are you three doing here? How'd you get over the security gate?" Carrie asked, noticing the gate wasn't even open.

"Teamwork!" Annie smiled at her.

"Do you have a band-aid?" Julie asked, "barbed wire's new."

"What do you want?" Carrie asked with a smug look.

"Uh... just thought you should know that Julie and Annie's band is playing at the dance tonight!" Flynn informed Carrie and Annie and Julie chuckled.

"Now ya know," Annie smiled.

"You guys are acting weirder than usual," Carrie grinned and Annie rolled her eyes.

"Probably because we're thirsty," Annie remarked.

"Can we come in for a glass of water?" Julie asked her.

Carrie groaned, "ugh! Fine, if it'll make you leave faster."

Carrie moved to the side and the three girls walked in, but she stopped them.

"Don't break anything!" Carrie scolded them, before walking away. The three girls quietly began to search the house for the boys but had to be careful.

"Careful!" Julie whispered to the girls as they searched the house, but couldn't find them. "Where are you?"

"We're... we're right here?"

Julie's eyes grew and the girls turned to find Nick and Ricky sitting on the couch together. Annie groaned when she saw Ricky and chuckled with the girls moments later.

"Look, guys, it's Nick!" Annie smiled and looked away with anger. "And... Ricky."

"Ricky..." Flynn and Julie repeated with the same tone of voice.

"Hello, ladies," Ricky greeted and Annie gave him a snotty look.

"But Nick is here!" Annie mentioned and Julie laughed.

"Nickster, Nicky-poo, Nick-a-licious!" Julie awkwardly laughed and looked at the girls with a whisper. "Make it stop..."

"Hey! Glad you're here, Nicky-poo!" Flynn smiled and gave Ricky a side-eye. "And you as well, I guess-"

Ricky shook his head with an eye roll.

"We wanted to tell you that Julie and Annie's band is playing at the dance tonight," Flynn informed the two boys.

"Yeah, I saw your post," Nick smiled at them and Ricky nodded.

"Seems really cool," Ricky added.

"These girls bothering you, babe?" Carrie asked Nick. "Sorry if Annie is making you sad, Ricky."

Annie scoffed, "oh my gosh."

"It's okay," Flynn assured her, rubbing Annie's back. "I have my taser ready."

"No, they were just telling us about the dance tonight," Ricky told Carrie, who was made her way over with the glasses of water.

"Right! Julie, Annie, and their hologram band are playing!" Carrie smiled and handed the girls their glasses of water. "How'd you learn how to do all that hologram stuff anyways?"

"Internet," Annie told her. "It's not just full of makeup tips and ways to cheat on someone."

Carrie looked at Annie as Ricky rolled his eyes.

"What do you say, babe?" Nick asked Carrie. "I think Ricky's cool, right?"

"I have a football game i'm gonna go watch," Ricky said and Annie's eyes twitched when he looked at her. "Sorry."

"No worries!" Flynn smiled at him with anger i. her eyes.

"Sure!" Carrie agreed and sat down next to Nick. "Nick and I will check out the hologram show."

"Great. Um... I'll make sure all my buddies are there," Nick smiled.

"Ooh! How exciting!" Carrie smiled, "that's a lot of people staring at you."

"You girls remember where the door is, right?" Carrie continued after we moment of silence.

"Yeah!" Julie chuckled but accidentally spilled her water on the floor. "Oh my gosh! I am so sorry!"

Carrie was about to get up, but Annie stopped her. "No, no, no! Jules and I know where the towels are."

"We'll get it," Julie smiled before she handed Flynn her glass and Annie set hers down on the coffee table.

"They know," Flynn added and accidentally spilled a little more as Annie and Julie walked by her. "Oh! Here I go! Haha!"

Flynn continued to distract Carrie, Nick, and Ricky as Annie and Julie explored the house to see if they can find the ghosts. They went up the stairs carefully to check for them.

"Guys!" Both girls whispered shouted.

"For your sake, you better not be up here," Annie snarled.

After searching for a couple of minutes, the girls couldn't find the boys and went back downstairs to the kitchen. Flynn was still talking to the three and was talking about a raccoon to them, while Annie and Julie saw the guys outside and motioned Flynn to continue her distracting.

"You guys want to see a photo of that?" Flynn asked the three, getting up and sitting in between Nick and Carrie. Julie and Annie rushed outside during this time to talk to the guys, who were mooning Trevor that was in his helicopter, flying away.

"So, did you have fun in there?" Annie asked the guys with a huff.

"Okay, you'd do the exact same if he stole all your songs," Luke mentioned to her.

"But you have new songs. With us," Julie reasoned. "The best way to get back at Trevor is for this band to do great."

"And to do great, we have to play dances, then clubs," Annie added on.

"And tours, I know," Luke continued, going up to the girls.

"We'll see you guys at the school," Annie told them and narrowed her eyes. "We go on at nine."

"Please don't be late. There's gonna be a lot of people there," Julie pleaded with them.

"We got it. Alright? Don't worry," Alex assured them before the girls sighed and walked back inside.

-That Night; School Dance-

The night rolled around and the school dance was in full swing. It wasn't like a fancy party, it was a fun, crazy, hipster kind of party, and Annie was all for it. She had on a fun, colorful skin-tight dress with a black leather jacket and a golden butterfly headband with her hair curled. Reggie may or may not have left one of his jackets in her room by accident one night when they were hanging out. Annie didn't mind and she thinks Reggie didn't leave it by accident.

Annie was so excited to perform her song tonight and couldn't wait for it. She just hopes the guys don't forget and get distracted by getting revenge on Bobby, that's her one worry. Reggie wouldn't let her down, he told her he wouldn't do that.

Julie and Annie arrived at the school dance together and danced their way to the stage to see Flynn DJing. Flynn noticed and ran toward the side of the stage to meet them.

"How are you feeling?" Flynn asked the girls.

"I'm a little nervous," Julie admitted.

"Like I'm gonna vomit," Annie shrugged, holding her stomach.

"You'll both be fine," Flynn assured them. "All your gear's backstage. Come on."

Flynn ran to the back and Annie and Julie followed her back there. Flynn met the girls and gasped at their appearances as Julie set down the projector the girls pretended to use.

"Oh my gosh! You both look amazing!" Flynn beamed and hugged them both.

"Thanks!"

"Thank you!"

"It's my mom's," Julie smiled, showing off her outfit. "I finally went through her stuff."

"She would've loved that you wore that," Flynn smiled at her and noticed Annie's jacket, before smirking. "Oh? Is that- is that Reggie's jacket?"

Julie saw and gave Annie a grin, "it is. When did he give you it?"

Annie blushed, holding the jacket in her hands. "He left in it my room last week and I decided to wear it."

"Awww," Flynn and Julie smiled and Annie giggled, feeling flustered.

"So adorable." Flynn winked.

"He is," Annie nodded and Julie nudged her arm.

Flynn looked around and messed with her hair as she smiled, "are the guys here."

"No, but they will be," Julie told her. "They know how important this is to us."

"I hope they show up..." Annie sighed, looking down at her jacket. "Please don't let me down, Reggie."

Up Next: the other side of hollywood

so excited, we're finally getting into more ghost stuff and we'll be introduced to caleb, the head ghost at the ghost club soon. due to annie not being a ghost, caleb won't actually be a part of the story much or at all, i think? like he won't have dialogue unfortunately because julie and annie don't meet him if i remember correctly. they learn about him though, because he's important in the show and also to annie.

maybe some relation to annie in some way who knows? :)

idk when caleb died or how old he is, so i am trying to figure out when he died so it can help with the story. cus annie needs to have some sort of connection to the ghosts besides julie's mom and i thought maybe caleb would fit that.

i will figure it out but for now just know caleb and annie have some sort of connection.

also, we got some more annie and reggie fluff and annie does have a leather jacket of his. unaware of how many he has, but let's just say at least two for the story. so excited for these two in the next couple of chapters :)

anyway, see ya in the other side of hollywood <3

full songs used in this chapter: I Got The Music by Madison Reyes and Jadah Marie
