While Kaldur and Dick were sparring in the main area of the Cave, they were being observed by Zatara and Captain Marvel, the latter of whom was eating a chocolate bar. Meanwhile, Nathan was standing nearby with his phone in his hand. He had been looking into leads regarding the anonymous crime boss known as Kingpin since he kept hearing that name over the past week.

???: 'Penny for your thoughts?'

Nathan looked up from his phone and saw M'gann approaching him with her arms behind her back.

Nathan: 'It's just...Over this past week, I kept hearing Kingpin's name all over the streets. I still don't know who he is, and apparently, neither does the NYPD or even the Justice League.'

M'gann: 'That's concerning.'

Nathan: 'It is. Whoever this Kingpin is, they know how to cover their tracks pretty well.'

M'gann: 'Well, if anyone could figure it out, it's you.'

Nathan: (smiles) 'Thanks, Meg.'

M'gann smiled back as she rested her head on Nathan's shoulder.

M'gann: 'You know the Team's got your back if you need it, right?'

Nathan: 'I know. Hopefully, it doesn't have to come to that.'

While Nathan and M'gann were having their mental conversation, Kaldur and Dick had stopped sparring and noticed them.

Dick: (whispers) You know they're a couple, right?

Kaldur: (whispers) I believe I knew before they did.

They then saw Conner and Valeria walking by with Wolf next to them. Conner and Valeria both had smiles on their faces as they chatted.

Dick: (whispers) And those two?

Kaldur: (whispers) Well, they were fairly close beforehand, so it was bound to happen.

They then saw Wally and Artemis walking into the main area of the Cave.

Dick: (whispers) Do we tell them?

Kaldur: (whispers) It is not our place.

As Wally and Artemis arrived, the speedster had a question regarding Captain Marvel.

Wally: So if Zatara's our babysitter of the week, why is he still here? And why is he eating my snacks?

Nathan: You're acting like you don't have an Everest-sized stash of snacks lying around, Wally.

Wally: Shut up, Rollins.

Nathan and Artemis snickered at Wally's annoyance before everyone heard the zeta tube activating.

Computer: Recognized, Batman 0-2.

Batman stepped into the Cave, wasting no time at all.

Batman: Computer, national news.

A holographic screen appeared, showing a news broadcast regarding an attack caused by a large plant in Metropolis, while members of the Justice League were rescuing civilians and fighting the plant.

Cat Grant: The initial attack was short-lived, but Metropolis was only granted a short reprieve. And despite the intervention of Superman and the Justice League, there seems to be no end in sight.

Robin: Should we get out there?

Batman: No. The League will soon have the situation under control. That's not why I'm here.

A hologram showing a picture of Sportsmaster appeared.

Batman: According to your intel, Sportsmaster supplied Cadmus' Blockbuster formula to Kobra.

Wally: Who combined it with Bane's Venom to create Kobra-Venom.

Dick: Which the Brain used to create his animal army.

Conner: And upgrade Wolf.

He says as he gives Wolf a scratch under his chin.

M'gann: The Brain also used inhibitor collars like the ones at Belle Reve Penitentiary.

As they spoke, Valeria examined the giant plant that was on the holographic screen. He noticed at it shared physical appearance with some of the upgraded animals in India and Mammoth back in Santa Prisca.

Valeria: Wait a minute...Is that plant thing on Kobra-Venom, too?

Batman: I had Green Lantern run a spot analysis. The vile cellulose does contain trace amounts of a Kobra-Venom variant.

Kaldur: These cannot be coincidences. Unrelated criminals are cooperating with one another worldwide.

Batman: Exactly. It's now clear our enemies have formed some kind of...secret society of supervillains. The attack on Metropolis is only the beginning.

Dick: Got that right.

He activated four holographic screens, each one depicting plant creatures in different cities across the planet.

Dick: Plant creatures have sprouted in Gotham City, Paris, Star City, Taipei—

Suddenly, all of the screens showed static.

Wally: Dude!

Dick: It's not me. Someone's cutting into the satellite signal. All satellite signals.

Nathan: Can't you override it? Or at least figure out—AH!

He jumped when the screens suddenly showed a man with green hair, red lipstick, and white face paint literally staring into the camera. Nathan knew who this was; the Joker, the Clown Prince of Crime, the most dangerous man in Gotham. Honestly, Nathan is happy that Joker hadn't decided to spread his "jokes" to New York.

On the screen, Joker knocked on the camera lens before speaking.

Joker: Ladies and gentlemen, we interrupt your regularly scheduled mayhem to bring you this important announcement...

He took out a pocketknife and pushed the camera to the side, revealing several other villains—a green-skinned redhead woman, a white-furred gorilla, a man with decaying skin and a military uniform, a man with a black-and-gold version of Captain Marvel's suit, a pale-skinned man with a red suit, a blonde man wearing elegant clothing and a dark-green cape, and a humanoid pterodactyl.

Joker: From the Injustice League. Hahahahaha.

Count Vertigo: We are responsible for the attacks on your cities. If you wish to save them, a ransom of 10 billion American dollars is required. Delivery instructions have been sent to the United Nations. There is no time limit, but the longer your governments wait...

The camera got pushed away, showing Joker's face again.

Joker: The more we get to have our jollies.

He let out a maniacal laugh before the feed got cut off. Batman put his hand on his ear.

Batman: Roger that, Aquaman. The UN will prepare the ransom as a fallback. But it won't come to that.

Dick rewinded the footage and stopped when the Injustice League came into frame.

Dick: Count Vertigo, the Joker, Poison Ivy, Ultra-Humanite, Atomic Skull, Black Adam, Wotan. Seven heavy hitters. Probably after nearly everything and everyone we've faced.

Artemis: And who's Jurassic Clark over here?

Nathan: Wait. Hang on.

A holographic keyboard appeared in front of Nathan, and he quickly began typing into it.

Nathan: I stole all of Dr. Warren's files after we broke Valeria out. Maybe there's something there that could tell what that thing is.

After a few seconds, a picture of a Caucasian man with long-brown hair and green eyes appeared in front of them.

Nathan: Got it. Karl Lycos, Argentine geneticist and hypnotherapist. He was a colleague of Warren's, and they were both working on cloning.

Valeria slightly flinched at the mention of cloning, which nobody noticed.

Nathan: 4 years ago, Lycos made physical contact with an employee, and he ended up turning into...that. He caused a good amount of chaos before flying off. After that, Warren took the wheel, and the rest is history.

Kaldur: And the one Lycos made contact with?

Nathan: Dead. Got the life literally sucked out of him.

Wally: There's your secret society.

Artemis: Not so secret anymore.

Kaldur: Perhaps, after India, they realized we would deduce the truth and saw no point in hiding any longer.

Valeria: I don't buy it.

Everyone looked at Valeria, who was still staring at the picture of Karl Lycos with her arms crossed.

Valeria: All we know is that a bunch of villains are working together. We have no idea what they're planning, or what their motive is. This is a smokescreen, something to throw us off their scent.

Wally: (smirks) Smokescreen or not, they just messed up. Right now, I say we go kick some plant-creature butt.

Batman: The Justice League will handle the plants. I have a different job for this team.

Wally: Oh, man.

Artemis punched Wally in the arm.

Batman: With the plants attacking so many locations simultaneously, there must be a central control system. Your mission is to destroy it.

Zatara: You realize what you're really asking them to do?

Batman: They're ready.

Wally: Ready? Ready for what?

Artemis punched Wally's arm again.

Wally: OW! Will you cut that—

Artemis: Hello, Wally. If the big guns are fighting plants, who do you think we'll be fighting?

Wally: I don't know. I guess we'll—

Artemis points at the screen showing the Injustice League. It took Wally 3 seconds to realize what they'll be doing.

Wally: Ohhh.

Nathan: (chuckles) Dummy.

Zatara: (to Batman) Well, Batman, I trust you're correct.

Batman: I trust you can locate the enemy.

Zatara: Indeed. Wotan's involvement suggests sorcery is part of how the plants are controlled. (turns to Dick) Robin, if you would provide a holo-map.

Dick starts typing into the holographic keyboard, and a hologram of the Earth appears.

Zatara: I'll search for signs of concentrated sorcerous activity. "Etacol retnecipe fo yrecros!"

A red dot appeared on the west coast of North America.

Zatara: There. That is where you will find the Injustice League's central control system.

Dick: Coordinates locked in. The Louisiana Bayou.

Kaldur: We are on our way.

The Team rushed out of the main area. Captain Marvel was about to follow them, but Batman stopped him.

Batman: Captain Marvel. For this plan to succeed, the entire Justice League must be seen fighting the plant creatures. You, Zatara, and I are needed elsewhere.

Louisiana
October 1, 18:03 CDT

While the Bioship flew over the Louisiana border, Spider-Man, in his standard suit, stood in the cargo bay, while Aqualad stood in front of him. Spider-Woman (in her stealth suit), Miss Martian (in her stealth suit), and Artemis stood nearby.

Artemis: Are you sure this is a good idea?

Spider-Man: No, I think this is the craziest idea I've ever had in my life. But I know it'll work.

Spider-Woman: Look, you don't have to do this, Nate. I can take the charge.

Spider-Man: It's okay. You're a better fighter than me, anyway.

He held his hand up to Aqualad.

Spider-Man: Okay, Kaldur. Hit me.

Aqualad clasped his hand with Spider-Man's before his tattoos began glowing. Spider-Man immediately started groaning in pain and dropped to one knee as he began to absorb Aqualad's electricity. Miss Martian immediately closed her eyes, unable to see Spider-Man in pain, while Spider-Woman put her hand on Miss Martian's shoulder in an attempt to comfort her.

After a solid minute, Aqualad let go of Spider-Man's hand, halting the charging process. Spider-Man sat on his knee for a few seconds to catch his breath before getting back up, his body almost completely surrounded by orange electric sparks.

Miss Martian: Nathan? Are you okay?

Spider-Man: I'm good, Meg. I'm good.

Artemis: Okay. That's that part done. You think you can glide all the way there?

Spider-Man: (nods) Yeah. You just keep the bad guys busy. I'll join you when I can.

Aqualad: You will need to be quick. I am not sure how long we can last against the Injustice League.

Spider-Man: Got it.

Miss Martian: Be careful, Nathan.

Spider-Man: You too, M'gann. (turns to Artemis) Tell Wally not to break his arm reaching for a souvenir.

Artemis rolled her eyes as Spider-Man stood upright and crossed his arms over his chest. Miss Martian took a breath before opening a hatch directly below Spider-Man's feet, ejecting him out of the Bioship. Spider-Man remained in freefall for a few seconds before activating his web wings, allowing him to glide. He turned invisible as he began to follow the Bioship.

In the Injustice League's base of operations, Joker was remotely controlling the plant creatures using a pair of high-tech gloves with several holographic screens hovered in front of him, while Count Vertigo and Black Adam stood behind him.

Joker watched as a plant creature in Metropolis released Joker Venom gas spores on the streets, causing three firefighters to literally die while laughing with large creepy smiles on their faces.

Joker: (laughs) Kobra-Venom's got nothing on good ol' Joker Venom.

Count Vertigo: (smiles) Both work well in concert.

On the ground floor, Poison Ivy put a hand on one of the large roots, which was turning grey along with the rest of the giant plant. With her touch, the root turned to dark green.

Poison Ivy: Yes, but we're putting considerable strain on my baby.

Near the top of the base, Karl Lycos, AKA Sauron, flew around the plant and observed its progressive decay.

Sauron: She is right. I am witnessing a worrying level of abiotic stress. If we're not careful, this could be over much sooner than we want.

Down below, Ultra-Humanite went up to the plant and pressed a button on the device in his hand. The plant started whirring as Wotan flew up to it.

Wotan: "Valetudo ut sero!" We will keep her healthy and safe, Ivy. (turns to Atomic Skull) But she requires more power. Skull.

Below Wotan, Atomic Skull stood in front of a node. His entire head charged up with energy before he fired it at the node, which caused the entire plant to turn to its natural dark green color and grow giant leaves, while Count Vertigo smiled at the sight.

Count Vertigo: (smiles) Stunning what a little teamwork can accomplish.

Suddenly, an alarm started wailing. Count Vertigo's smile was quickly replaced with a scowl.

Count Vertigo: Intruder alert.

Bayou Bartholomew
October 1, 18:52 CDT

Less than an hour after ejecting Spider-Man from the Bioship, the Team arrived at Bayou Bartholomew. Miss Martian, Aqualad, Artemis, and Kid Flash had their suits in Stealth mode while Spider-Woman had her own stealth suit on. While Artemis, Robin, and Spider-Woman checked their equipment, Kid Flash (who was eating a banana) noticed a duffel bag lying next to Aqualad's seat.

Kid Flash: What's in the duffel?

Aqualad: Plan B.

Suddenly, Miss Martian groaned and put a hand on her head, which got everyone's attention.

Superboy: You alright?

Miss Martian: Dizzy.

Robin: Martians get airsick?

Kid Flash: She does look a bit greener than usual.

Miss Martian: Not me, her.

Artemis: I feel fine.

Spider-Woman: I'm not feeling anything different, either.

Miss Martian: Not either of you, the Bioship. She's trying to shield us, but...

Once she heard Miss Martian say that, Spider-Woman have an idea to what was causing this.

Spider-Woman: Guys...remind me again what Count Vertigo's powers are?

Robin, Artemis, and Kid Flash's eyes widen as Spider-Woman's Spider Sense blared.

Spider-Woman: Hang on!

Before anyone could question it, the Bioship was suddenly hit downwards towards the bayou by an unknown force before it crashed in a lake.

Before the Team could recover from the crash, several large vines got hold of the Bioship and started pulling it into the water.

They heard several thuds from the Bioship's roof before seeing Black Adam tearing a hole through it with his bare hands.

Miss Martian: (groans) He's hurting her.

Acting quickly, Superboy jumped from his seat and punched Black Adam, sending him away from the Bioship. Unfortunately, the hole he caused allowed water to flood into the ship, filling the interior.

Artemis: No. No way I'm nearly drowning three missions in a row.

Robin and Artemis put on a rebreather and dove under the water, while Spider-Woman took a deep breath and followed Robin. Artemis then took out a second rebreather and held it out to Kid Flash, who was surprised by her action.

Kid Flash: Wow. Uh, thanks.

He took the rebreather and put it in his mouth.

Superboy: M'gann, we need to get out, open a hatch.

Miss Martian: (puts her hand on her forehead) Hello, Megan. Of course.

Gills appeared on Miss Martian's neck before she dove into the water. She then opened a hatch on the floor that led to the outside.

Aqualad: 'Out! Everyone out!'

The Team got out from the hatch and swam to shore. When they got out of the water, they saw the Bioship get pulled into the lake by the plant tentacles.

Miss Martian: She's in shock. She'll need time to recover.

Suddenly, everyone yelled in pain as they fell to the ground and held their heads. Kid Flash looked up and saw Count Vertigo standing over him while using his powers on them.

Kid Flash: Vertigo.

Count Vertigo: Count Vertigo to you, peasant.

Superboy got up and ran towards Count Vertigo, but he was punched away by Black Adam, who knocked him out cold.

Spider-Woman charged her hands with Venom and tried to attack Black Adam, but she was hit into a tree by an energy blast. She looked up and saw Sauron emerge from the treeline with his hands aimed at her with energy dissipating from his palms before he lowered them.

Spider-Woman: Dr. Lykos. Why are you working for these people?

Sauron: I work with them, not for them. And you will only refer to me as Sauron.

Spider-Woman: You named yourself after the main villain of Lord of the Rings. Bit much, don't you think?

When she made eye contact with Sauron before she could attack, she suddenly felt light-headed. She shook her head and looked around until she noticed a horrifying sight; a 10-foot spider-like with human-like skin coming from the trees. She immediately noticed the pieces of red-and-blue fabric around its body, and the human green irises in its many eyes...Green irises that she recognized.

Spider-Woman: N-Nathan?

She was frozen in shock and fear as the creature lunged towards her. She didn't even attempt to protect herself as the creature slashed down at her.

Spider-Woman suddenly fell unconscious. In real life, Sauron had used her hypnotic abilities to make Spider-Woman see Spider-Man as a horrifying creature to paralyze her with shock and fear before making physical contact with her to absorb her life force. Sauron didn't absorb enough to kill, but he absorbed enough to knock her out.

Having seeing Superboy and Spider-Woman getting decommissioned by Black Adam and Sauron, he quickly took out his Waterbearers and summoned water from the lake to hit Count Vertigo and Sauron.

Aqualad: 'Robin, Miss Martian, disappear. We will keep them busy. You two rendezvous with Spider-Man and fulfill the mission objective.'

Miss Martian turned invisible and flew off, while Robin sneaked away, before the remaining members of the Team and Wolf were quickly defeated by Black Adam.

Afterwards, Black Adam and Sauron unceremoniously carried and dumped the Team's unconscious forms next to each other. Count Vertigo was quick to notice a strange detail.

Count Vertigo: Three are missing. Has Spider-Man arrived with them?

Black Adam shook his head.

Sauron: He may have stayed in New York.

Count Vertigo: Perhaps...

Robin and Miss Martian were walking through the muddy forest, with the latter being invisible and the former using his Hologlove to navigate through the woods.

Miss Martian: 'I've lost contact with Aqualad and the others. Should we...'

Robin: 'Sorry, that's not the gig. This is.'

They stopped walking and saw a glass-domed building with a giant plant antenna sticking out of it.

Robin: 'The Injustice League's central control system. Looks like that plant is acting as an antenna to control the other plants worldwide'

Suddenly, they heard Spider-Man's voice in their telepathic link

Spider-Man: 'Guys, can you hear me?'

Robin: 'Nathan! Boy, am I glad to hear your voice. Where you at?'

Meanwhile, Spider-Man had just arrived at Bayou Bartholomew by gliding there. The electrical charge he was holding in had gotten so strong that even when invisible, faint orange sparks were surrounding his body.

Spider-Man: 'I'm gliding over the bayou right now. Where are the others?'

Miss Martian: 'Robin and I are fine, but we got separated and lost contact with them.'

Spider-Man: 'Well, we need to wrap this up fast. My charge is building up fast, and I don't know how much longer I can hold it.'

Robin: 'Well, you won't have to worry about that. Miss M and I found the control center. It's a building with a glass dome and a plant tower sticking out of it.'

Spider-Man looked around and saw the building Robin had described in the distance to his left.

Spider-Man: 'I see it. Give me 2 minutes.'

He changed direction and glided towards the control center.

Back on the ground, Robin and Miss Martian were still observing the control center while communicating with Spider-Man. What neither of them noticed was that Poison Ivy was standing behind them.

Robin: 'Copy that.'

Poison Ivy: Well, hello.

The two turned around and saw her standing behind them. Poison Ivy quickly summoned vines and wrapped them up with them as Ultra-Humanite landed behind her with a high-tech rifle in his hands.

Ultra-Humanite aimed his rifle at Robin and Miss Martian, who were struggling against the vines.

Poison Ivy: And goodbye.

Acting quickly, Miss Martian's eyes turned green as she used her telekinetic abibities to force Ultra-Humanite's aim lower towards the vines just as he pulled the trigger, releasing both her and Robin. The two quickly ran/flew in separate directions.

Poison Ivy: Sorry, Boy Wonder. I'm putting an end to your little reconnaissance mission.

She summoned more vines from the ground and towards Robin, but he was agile and fast enough to evade every one of them.

Meanwhile, Ultra-Humanite chased Miss Martian while shooting at her, but she avoided the shots and turned invisible.

Spider-Woman slowly opened her eyes and the first thing she noticed was the glowing orange cage she, Aqualad, Superboy, Artemis, Kid Flash, and Wolf were confined in. She noticed Aqualad stir awake.

Count Vertigo: They awaken. You're certain this will hold them?

That's when both Aqualad and Spider-Woman looked outside the cage. An orange beam came from Wotan's left hand towards the cage, so it was safe to assume that he made it. She saw Sauron flying alongside the cage, but they didn't see Count Vertigo or Black Adam. They assumed that Black Adam was holding the cage from below while Count Vertigo stood on the top.

Wotan: The cage is impenetrable. Even the Superboy has no chance of escaping.

Aqualad: You are not the only one trained in the mystic arts, Wotan.

He held the bars and charged up his hands while attempting to pull the bars apart, but not only did he fail, but he quickly wore himself out doing it as smoke came out of his body.

Wotan: Please, Atlantean, do not pretend you're in my league.

Spider-Woman looked around and was tempted to use her Mega Venom Blast to blow the cage apart, but she quickly shot down that idea. She had no idea if it was enough to do any damage to the cage, and even if it did, she did not want to do it when her friends would easily get caught in the blast radius.

Meanwhile, Robin was still evading the attacking vines, but he was knocked off balance and fell to the ground in front of more vines. Suddenly, they exploded as Miss Martian flew to him, while still being invisible and ripping the vines.

Miss Martian: 'Robin, she's made contact.'

Robin: 'Artemis? Spider-Woman?'

Miss Martian: 'No.'

Robin looked up and saw Black Adam, Sauron, Wotan, and Count Vertigo carrying Spider-Woman, Aqualad, Superboy, Kid Flash, Artemis, and Wolf towards the control center. Suddenly, the Bioship arrived and flew at Wotan, hitting him into a nearly lake. This caused the cage construct to disappear, making the Team and Count Vertigo fall towards the ground. Black Adam quickly caught Count Vertigo, who was not pleased by his rescue.

Count Vertigo: Not me! Stop those delinquents!

The Team landed in a swamp. Superboy got up and saw Ultra-Humanite standing in front of him with his rifle.

Superboy: I hate monkeys.

He and Wolf lunged at Ultra-Humanite.

Spider-Woman got up just as Sauron landed in front of her. She quickly noticed that her web-shooters were missing, so she took out her stingers and took a battle stance.

Spider-Woman: Give me your best shot, Smaug!

Sauron flew towards Spider-Woman, but she flipped over him and slashed his back with her stingers, making him roar in pain and crash into the mud.

Artemis and Aqualad got up and saw Poison Ivy glaring at them with vines emerging from behind her. Artemis and Aqualad reached for their weapons but found that they were missing.

Artemis: Ugh, I feel naked. And not in a fun way.

Poison Ivy sent the vines at Aqualad, but he weaved away from them.

Aqualad: We will make our own fun, as we have been trained. Maneuver 7.

He locked his fingers together while Artemis ran towards him. Once she put her foot on his hands, he pushed upwards, flinging Artemis in the air towards Poison Ivy. Artemis then delivered an aerial kick to Poison Ivy's head, knocking her down.

Kid Flash got up and saw Count Vertigo and Black Adam land in front of him. He ran towards them, but Count Vertigo used his power to disorient Kid Flash and slow him down to a complete stop before Black Adam backhanded him away.

Count Vertigo: Where are Robin and the Martian?

Suddenly, everyone heard a loud whistle from the control center. They looked up and saw Spider-Man turn visible. He was sticking to the top of the plant antenna with his entire body completely covered in orange electricity. There was an orange glow from inside his body, which showed his entire ribcage, and there were a pair of glowing orange irises behind the lenses on his mask.

Poison Ivy: (gasps) My baby.

Spider-Man: Kaboom.

He finally released his Venom charge. The result was an extremely bright and powerful Mega Venom Blast that blinded everyone and knocked them off their feet.

Once everyone got up and regained their vision, they noticed that the plant antenna had been completely disintegrated and several nearby trees were uprooted and were now laying on their side. On the shattered glass dome, Spider-Man was on his hands and knees catching his breath before he was joined by Robin and Miss Martian, who helped him back up to him feet.

Spider-Man: That whelming enough for you, Rob?

Robin: (smirks) Very.

With a very angry roar, Poison Ivy sent several large vines at Spider-Man and Robin, but Miss Martian hovered in front of him and telekinetically ripped them apart. Spider-Man felt his Spider-Sense going off.

Spider-Man: LOOK OUT!

He tackled Miss Martian out of the air and into the swamp as they and Robin avoided a blast from Atomic Skull, who was standing alongside Joker before chasing the three heroes.

Joker: Children? Children foiled our plan? Inconceivable. Unacceptable! RETRIBUTIONABLE! That last one might not be a word, so sue me.

Count Vertigo: Kill them. Kill them all.

Spider-Man helped Miss Martian to her feet as Robin joined them. They saw Atomic Skull land behind them, so they ran away before he shot at them.

While Superboy and Wolf faced off against Ultra-Humanite, Black Adam tackled Superboy into a tree while Wolf lunged at Ultra-Humanite.

Spider-Woman saw Sauron open his mouth and noticed an orange glow from the back of his throat.

Spider-Woman: Oh, crap.

She jumped out of the way just as fire came out of Sauron's mouth and engulfed her previous position with his fire.

Count Vertigo stood over Artemis and sent several powerful waves of vertigo at her, which Kid Flash sees.

Kid Flash: Leave her alone.

He was blasted away by Wotan, who hovered above the battlefield.

Wotan: Enough!

Robin threw several explosive birdarangs at Wotan, but he summoned a shield around him, easily protecting himself from them. Wotan then sent several lightning streams that hit Robin, Artemis, Kid Flash, Spider-Man, Spider-Woman, Superboy, Wolf, and Aqualad. One lightning bolt shot Miss Martian out of the sky, making her land in front of Aqualad, who managed to take the lightning off of Miss Martian.

Aqualad: Plan B.

Knowing what that meant, Miss Martian nodded as her eyes glowed green. The invisible Bioship hovered over Aqualad and a hatch was opened on its underside, causing the duffel bag to fall out of the ship and land in front of Aqualad. He unzipped the bag and took out the Helmet of Fate from it, which Wotan noticed before stopping his lightning attack.

Wotan: The Helmet of Fate.

Kid Flash recovered and saw Aqualad holding the Helmet of Fate over his head. Having put it on himself before, he realized what Aqualad was about to do and what would happen if he does it.

Kid Flash: NO, AQUALAD, DON'T!

He was punched away by Black Tree, who was immediately punched away by Superboy. Kid Flash flew into a tree, breaking his right arm in the process, as Aqualad put on the Helmet, turning into Dr. Fate.

Kid Flash saw this as he got up while holding his right arm.

Kid Flash: Oh, dude.

Spider-Man, who recalled Wally's story of putting on the Helmet and turning into Dr. Fate, stared in shock as he saw Dr. Fate fly up to Wotan.

Dr. Fate: Wotan, you are mine.

Wotan fired a beam at Dr. Fate, who responded with a beam of his own from his chest. Dr. Fate's beam easily overcame Wotan's before hitting Wotan himself, sending him into the building before wrapping him in golden chains.

As Robin recovered from Wotan's lightning strike, he saw Joker standing over him while flicking out a pocketknife.

Joker: (in a deep voice) Wonderboy, you are mine.

With a cackle, he began continuously slashing at Robin, but he evaded each and every one with weaves and flips.

Joker: Always wanted to carve this bird.

He took out a second pocketknife and lunged at Robin.

Meanwhile, Spider-Woman was jumping between trees while Sauron chased her, obliterating every tree that she lands on.

Spider-Woman: Come on, Karly boy. You gotta do better than that.

Sauron: SILENCE!

He flew towards Spider-Woman, but he was knocked away by an invisible force and hit a tree. As Sauron got up, he saw Spider-Man turn visible next to Spider-Woman.

Spider-Man: What are you thinking? Sliding Ramos?

Spider-Woman: Take it away, Spidey.

The Spiders launched himself at Sauron, who flew towards them. Spider-Woman jumped up and kicked Sauron into the ground. As Sauron slid across the ground, Spider-Man slingshotted himself and slid on the ground before slide tackling Sauron in the face, sending him into a tree. As Spider-Man got up and Spider-Woman landed next to him, the two fist-bumped each other before lunging at Sauron again.

Meanwhile, Wotan managed to free himself from the golden chains and sent them back at Dr. Fate, who summoned a large golden ankh that absorbed the chains.

Wotan: Wotan has prepared for your return, doctor. "Fulmina venite!"

He fired a powerful stream of orange lightning that shattered the ankh and shocked Dr. Fate. Dr. Fate quickly recovered and flew at Wotan.

Meanwhile, Miss Martian was invisible as she evaded the vine spikes that Poison Ivy kept summoning.

Poison Ivy: I can't see you, Martian, but perhaps I'll hear you scream.

Count Vertigo appeared next to Poison Ivy.

Count Vertigo: And perhaps I can be of assistance.

Poison Ivy put her hands on her hips as Count Vertigo released his vertigo waves at Miss Martian, forcing her to turn visible and fall to the ground.

Suddenly, Kid Flash sped by and ripped off a piece of Count Vertigo's cape. Before he could react, Artemis appeared in front of him and kicked him in the head, throwing him into Poison Ivy and knocking them both down.

While Kid Flash leaned against a tree, Artemis ran up to him and took the fabric from his hand.

Kid Flash: Hey, that's my souvenir.

Artemis: Hold still.

She tied the fabric around Kid Flash's neck and broken arm, making it a makeshift sling. Suddenly, Wolf was flung at Artemis, knocking her down.

Kid Flash: ARTEMIS!

He quickly avoided a punch from Ultra-Humanite and ran off, while Ultra-Humanite chased him.

Meanwhile, Wotan kept firing beams at Dr. Fate, who just kept dodging them.

Dr. Fate: Surrender, sorcerer. You cannot hope to defeat a Lord of Order.

He created an ankh and fired a beam at Wotan, who seemed to absorb it before disappearing. Wotan reappeared behind an unsuspecting Dr. Fate and fired a beam at him, hitting him.

Wotan: I can defeat you, and I will!

???: "Ekirts natoW nwod!"

A golden beam hit Wotan in the chest, courtesy of Zatara, who was levitating down on a bright orange platform while being followed by Martian Manhunter, Captain Atom, Hawkman, and Hawkgirl.

Zatara: Not tonight, Wotan.

Ultra-Humanite got distracted by the Justice League's appearance, and Superboy took advantage of that by punching him in the face, knocking him down.

Joker kept slashing at Robin, who kept flipping out of the way, until one of his pocketknives were knocked out of his hand by a batarang. Joker looked up and saw Batman, Black Canary, Green Arrow, and Aquaman descending towards him on a platform made by Green Lantern (JS) while Superman and Captain Marvel flew alongside them.

Soon, almost the entire Justice League landed and surrounded the Injustice League.

???: YO!

Everyone turned and saw Spider-Man and Spider-Woman walking out of the treeline, with the former carrying a webbed-up unconscious Sauron over his right shoulder like a sack of potatoes.

Spider-Man: This your bird, Vertigo?

He tossed Sauron's unconscious body over the Justice League, and he landed directly in front of Count Vertigo, who scowled at the sight.

Batman: It's over.

The Injustice League shared a glance with each other before raising their hands, surrendering to the Justice League.

Count Vertigo: There will be another day.

Joker: Another day? ANOTHER DAY?! There won't be another day! Not for—

He was stopped when Spider-Man shot an electric web at Joker's neck, shocking him before knocking him out. Everyone looked at Spider-Man.

Spider-Man: Only heard this guy yapping for less than a minute, and he was already getting on my nerves.

He noticed Batman glaring at him.

Spider-Man: Don't look at me like that, Batman. You've done a lot worse to people saner than he is.

Poison Ivy: (under her breath) Ain't that the truth.

Soon, the entire Injustice League was arrested and taken into custody by the Justice League and were carried away. The only ones left in Bayou Bartholomew were Batman, Zatara, Captain Marvel, and Aquaman. They simply stood as they watched Kid Flash rant to the Team about Aqualad putting on the Helmet of Fate, speaking from his experience with the magical artifact.

Kid Flash: What were you thinking? How could you let him put on the Helmet? Nabu will never release him now. Kaldur will be trapped inside Dr. Fate forever.

Everyone looked saddened by Wally's declaration. After a few seconds, they saw a bright golden flash, so they looked up and saw Aqualad, back in his stealth suit while holding the Helmet of Fate in his hands.

Kid Flash: Nabu let you go?

Aqualad: He almost did not. But your friend Kent was most helpful. He says, "Hello."

Kid Flash smiled.

Batman: We're done here. The supervillains' secret society has been neutralized.

Spider-Woman subtly shook her head. She still firmly believed that the Injustice League was only a smokescreen to cover something more sinister. As for Spider-Man, he still wore a worried expression under his mask as he glanced at the Helmet of Fate that Aqualad was holding.

Batman: As for your performance...it was satisfactory.

Soon, the Leaguers left the site.

Spider-Man: Kaldur, Wally, a word.

Aqualad and Kid Flash glanced at each other before following Spider-Man to the treeline. Once they stopped, Spider-Man turned to face them.

Spider-Man: We're not letting anyone else wear that Helmet.

Aqualad: What do you mean?

Spider-Man: Just hear me out, guys. I never wore that Helmet, so I don't have any experience with Nabu. But from what you guys said about him, he doesn't seem like the kind of god who lets people go so easily.

Kid Flash: Actually...you might be right. Nabu knew that I had no magical affinity, and he still wanted my body. Only reason he didn't was because Kent talked him out of it.

Spider-Man: That's exactly my point. That's twice now that Kent Nelson managed to talk Nabu, a Lord of Order, out of taking someone's body for himself.

Aqualad: You raise some valid points, Nathan. However, in both instances, we were on the verge of defeat until Dr. Fate intervened. Despite both mine and Wally's near misses with Nabu, Dr. Fate is a powerful entity that shares our desire to deliver justice and order.

Spider-Man: (sighs) Yeah. Yeah, you're right. I'm just worried, y'know? I just know that the next person who puts on the Helmet of Fate, no matter who they are, is never gonna take it off. Whoever puts it on will be taken from the life they have, and they'll never get to come back to it.

In an undisclosed location, several monitors played footage of the Justice League fighting the plant creatures around the world.

???: Impressive. The plant creatures have proven their usefulness as potential weapons.

The screens then changed to a freeze frame of the Injustice League when they hijacked all satellite signals to announce themselves.

???: More importantly, the so-called heroes now believe our secret society has been revealed and crushed.

The figure walked out of the shadows, revealing themselves to be a man with Neanderthal-like features, long black hair and sideburn, and wearing fancy clothing. The most noticeable feature was the three thin, long scars on his forehead, nose, and mouth.

Vandal Savage: With the Injustice League serving as our proxies, we are once again free to operate with impunity.

From the shadows, more figures emerged. They were Queen Bee, Orm the Ocean Master, Ra's Al-Ghul, Wilson Fisk, Lex Luthor, Klarion, and the Brain.

Savage: And shadows still conceal our Light.
