One traitor, twice the pain

(this is a rather short chapter)

Once we finally got back to Camp, we were presented with the burial shrouds made for us. The Ares cabin made Percys, the Athena cabin made Annabeths, the Hermes cabin made Logans, and the Apollo cabin made mine. Mine was black, with a raven in the center, golden wings, a halo around the head, and a white moon in the background.

I smiled as Will handed me the shroud. "Thanks, Will. This looks beautiful."

Will gave me his signature toothy smile before hugging me. I'm going to miss him.

Annabeth's shroud was grey with embroidered owls, Logan's was blue with a blue wave behind a golden trident. And since Percy had no siblings, the Ares cabin took the liberty of making his shroud. They took one of his bedsheets and painted a smiley face over it with an X for the eyes.

The Apollo cabin (aside from me) led the sing-along as we roasted marshmallows and discussed our quest. Percy and Logan were surrounded by their previous cabinmates, Annabeth was surrounded by the Athena cabin, and Grover was surrounded by the other nymphs and satyrs, showing them his new searcher's license.

No one surrounded me. Not even Travis, Conner, Kenzie, or Chandler. Did they know about me leaving? Are they mad at me? They looked so happy with their siblings, none of them even acknowledged me since I came back. Should I feel disappointed? No, no, they need this, I shouldn't stop them from being happy.

It's been about two weeks now. Thanks to Annabeth and Grover, I decided to stay to think about if I wanted to stay or not, and since no one was talking to me at all right now except for Annabeth, Percy, Grover, and Logan who had now started talking to me once a week, I'm leaving.

It's now the 4th of July and instead of watching the fireworks show, I'm in my room, putting my things in a little suitcase I got from one of the Hermes kids named Kaleb.

I was putting my clothes in there when I got a knock at the door. Thinking it was one of the newer Apollo kids, I put my suitcase under my bed and went to the door. When I opened it, I was surprised to see no one there.

I groaned. "If one of you Hermes kids is trying to play a prank on me I will make sure none of you sleep tonight!"

I closed my door, staring at the remaining clothes on my bed. I pulled my suitcase back on my bed and put the rest of my clothes in except for about two since I plan on leaving once everyone else does, just to make sure no one cares that I'm missing(not that they would care in the first place).

I finally put all my clothes in my suitcase and was about to throw myself on the bed when I noticed a letter. It was addressed to me and had a grey wax seal with a moon behind a bow and arrow. I didn't know whether I wanted to read the note or not. After a bit of fighting with myself, I decided to put the note in my suitcase and wait until I was actually out of camp to read it. Putting my suitcase under my bed once again, I walked out the door and went to watch the fireworks show with the others.

Finally, the day came when people would be leaving for the school year. Both Logan and I agreed that we wouldn't go back to school for the summer so he'd be staying with the year-rounders. I learned about some of my other powers over the last few months and during the last day of summer, the camp counselors awarded people with their camp beads. It was to represent the most memorable parts of the summer, and of course, this one was about Poseidon and Percy. They said it was unanimous since Percy was the first Son of Poseidon to arrive at camp (though Logan was standing right beside him)

"This bead commemorates the first Son of the Sea God at this camp, and the quest he undertook into the deepest parts of the underworld to stop a war!"

Once Luke was done, everyone started clapping for Percy, even the Ares kids felt obliged to stand. Annabeth and even Logan were pushed to the center with Percy to share the applause.

I clapped along with everyone else. I didn't care about being in the spotlight, I hated it, but seeing them getting congratulations and I wasn't, just...stung. When they weren't looking, I disappeared from the crowd and went to my cabin.

I was in the archery range the next day, just trying to distract myself until I heard something coming from the woods. I watched as Chiron and some nymphs were carrying Percy's unconscious body to the infirmary.

"What the hell?" I muttered as I followed them to the infirmary.

After figuring out that it was Scorpion Venom, Percy then explained to us what happened and apparently Luke almost killed him and just left unscathed. Percy wanted to go after Luke, but Chiron convinced him otherwise, telling him that it was not his battle to fight.

I then decided that I wasn't needed so I walked back to my cabin. Once I opened the door I was greeted with Nelly, who was crying on my bed. I immediately walked over and hugged her.

"Are you okay?" I asked.

Nelly sniffed. "No," she said. "Luke just...he just betrayed me, not even thinking about how I or any of his friends would feel about it."

I sighed, looking down. I couldn't tell her I was leaving, that would've made her feel like I was betraying them too, even though I would never.

"I'm going to look for him," I told her. "I'll find him and give him a piece of my mind."

Nelly shook her head. "He'll never listen to you," she said. "He didn't listen to me when he ran away."

I sighed. "Well, I guess I have to try then."

Nelly looked at me for a moment before she looked at the ground, her head hung low. "I'm going back to Delaware, possibly for a job offer."

I nodded. "Well, good luck," I said, giving her a little smile. "I'm not going back to school, but I'm not staying in camp either. Probably going to visit my dad and stay with him."

Nelly sighed. "Well," she smirked. "Give Cerberus a lot of hugs for me."

I laughed. "Sure thing," I said before we hugged each other. "Be careful."

"You too."

We finally separated from each other. Nelly still had tears running down her face, but I wiped them away.

"We'll see each other next year, huh?" she asked me.

I nodded. "Sure thing," I said. "Just not here."

Nelly nodded as she got up from the bed and headed towards the door. She turned towards me. "Are you leaving today?"

I nodded. "Yeah."

Nelly nodded. "Well, bring me back something special."

With that she closed the door, leaving me alone once again. I soon got out a piece of paper and started writing a note to Logan, telling him why I was not at camp anymore and why I won't no longer be at camp. Hopefully, he'll take it lightly and we won't start fighting with each other. He deserves a place to call home. He deserves to do his own thing without me.

I quickly folded up the paper and Shadow traveled to Logan's room and placed the letter on top of his desk before sitting down on his bed. This is the second time I've shadow traveled and it doesn't get easier. Even then I went back to my cabin, grabbed my bag, and shadow-traveled to the underworld, hopefully, to get a plan together.
