(Its Already Too Late For That)

Korri POV

I immediately bolt down the stairs after her.

"No," I say. "You can't leave. Not now-"

"I already know what you're gonna do," Lola breathes, without looking at me. "You want to stay here with Ares. And I'm fine with that, but I don't want to be around while you succumb to him."

I grab her by the shoulders and look her in the eye.

"I don't succumb to anyone." I snap. "In all those years you were gone, I learned not to fall on my knees in front of anyone. I made sure that I wouldn't, even if that meant I got the title of murderer."

She glares at me. "Then you are a moron if you did that."

And she yanks away from me and pauses next to the front door.

"I really hope you reconsider." Mars says from behind me.

"Don't leave," I whisper.

"Unless you change your mind about everything, then no."

Mars shakes his head. "I don't understand, why are you ditching her?"

"Because I'm not going to fall under your bewitchery."

"Um, I- I have no idea what to say to that. Mainly because I have no idea what you're talking about."

"You know exactly what I'm talking about."

"Witchcraft is a human thing not a Divine thing."

"Wha- Never mind."

"I mean that I'm a son of a god and I don't practice witchcraft, I don't think anyone has for centuries."

"LAIR!"

"Ok, don't believe me, but 'tis the truth."

I give her a pleading look, but she never meets my eyes.

"Look, I'm not staying in the same house with a lair, a thief, and a traitor."

"I don't know what you mean."

Then Mars does something unexpected.

"I will explain everything, tell you anything you want, if only you'll stay,"

I gasp.

Lola shakes her head, and laughs darkly. "Nah, i-its already too late for that,"

And runs off into the freezing dark.

Mars gives me a comforting hug and looks me in the eye, his eyes filled with panic.

"I'm sorry." He whispers. "I shouldn't- come on, we're going after that crazy girl."

He gives me a look and a smile of mischief and comfort.

I softly nod.

And we run into the dark after her.
