Chapter Thirty-Three
(I Might Not Make It Like I Did Last Time)
Mars POV
"What do you want to do?" I ask, but then I realize that she is probably fed up with the way this conversation is going, so I just stop talking.
"I just want to find her. I can't lose her again," Korri whispers, so softly I'm not sure if it is meant to be heard. "I might not make it like I did last time."
I squeeze her hand.
"Well, I'm certainly feeling tired now," Korri chuckles.
I smile. "Yeah, it's about time that happened, it's like two and you've been at that since like ten at night."
She grimaces, and stands, but collapses onto the ground as if her legs had turned to water.
"Are you okay?"
I suddenly feel very fidgety, and nervous, and panicky.
"Yup, great." she says, sarcasm evident in her voice.
"Well, you're obviously not going to be able to do anything without passing out on your feet."
"I'm still going to pull my own weight."
Damn she's stubborn.
She takes the dish back from me, and only makes it to the door when she collapses again.
"I'm... fine." She mutters. "Just... dizzy."
I help her to her feet. "You're not fine. Go get in bed, get some sleep, and we'll go searching again.''
She frowns, and I somehow notice the confusion and horror in her expression.
"Ugh, fine. I'll stay." her expression changes to irritation then to something else. "But will you stay and tell me about your sister?"
I freeze.
I...
I nod. "What do you want to know?"
