Chapter Sixteen

("I am sir sarcastic," -Korri Acting Out Mars in His Divine Accent)

Mars POV

"Hey, Norse god of people and lightning," I say sarcastically. "Don't call me Ares. What do you want?"

"I wanted to see how you were faring, and it seems you are not faring well." He says.

I glare at him. "Yeah, I don't feel too good, so why do you care?"

Korri drags Lola out of the room.

"I care because I overheard Odin and Zeus talking about you," he says quietly.

Oh, so I am a little topic like dinner now? How fun.

I frown, but he HAD caught my interest. "I thought they quit talking to each other years ago."

"They had," Thor agrees. "But they patched up their relationship last year. And well, Apollo got concerned, well, as concerned as Apollo can get about someone other than himself... Anyway, he told Zeus his suspicions, and then Zeus came to Odin and spoke with him," Thor finishes.

"Ever since I've been helping Korri and her sister, people can't seem to leave me alone," I mumble.

"Well, I have nothing more to say, so I shall leave." Thor says, and I hear the front door shut behind him.

Lola comes back in, and I assume that Korri is showing Thor out.

"Who was that?" Lola asks.

"That... was an old associate." I say. "Thor wanted to tell me what had been going on."

"Oooooh!" Lola gasps in awe. "Is he like the superhero from the comics?"

I snort. "Nope."

Korri steps into the room and frowns. "What was that all about?"

"That was Thor telling me stuff about my family." I sigh. "Really wish he didn't have to say it though,"

"Um, okay?" Korri says.

Lola glares at me, and says nothing.

I'm appreciative of Korri's awkwardness, and understanding about the sore topic, and I am trying to ignore Lola's ignorance.

"Well, uh, what are we gonna do?" Lola mumbles, breaking the silence.

"We could play a game,"

And I tune the rest of the conversation out.

I just nod along.

"That sounds good," I mumble.

They start up the game, I read the scenario.

This goes on for a few minutes, and then I hear shouting outside.

"Do not check it." I say, mainly to Lola, I know Korri well enough that she would be the last person to do that.

"Why in the heck not?" Lola mutters. "You're not in charge."

I frown. "Because I'm done opening the door for morons, who can't even look at me."

My temper's starting to burn, it's rhythm matching the repeating knocking.

"Who do you think it is?" Korri asks.

"No idea." I say.

For the second time today, there is a loud BANG (most likely the door crashing down again) coming from the front door.

"HULLO?" A voice calls. "IS ARES THERE?"

"NO!" Lola shouts.

I'm starting to feel pissed off.

"MAY I COME IN?!" The voice asks.

Then I hear several more voices start to boom around the house, all in disagreement.

Korri and Lola look at me inquisitively.

I want to say NO, NO they will not let her/him in, but I am dubious of the fact that I may have a choice in the matter.

And since no one ever visits my house, it's most likely gods at my doorstep.

Though, they rarely have anything important to say, but recently...

I can't risk it.

I give Korri the okay.

"Hey, Lola, how 'bout you go pick a game from upstairs in the attic," Korri says. "Oh, grab Isle of Cats,"

I frown.

What...?

I know I don't have that.

But I don't say anything.

"OKAY!" Lola says, and bolts out of the room.

I know that would be searching up there for hours until she realized that she'd been lied to.

Korri leaves the room.

"I'M COMING!" She shouts, and the chatter from outside subsides.

Then all Hades breaks loose.

My bedroom suddenly fills with people.

Men and women came rushing into the room yelling in rage, "THE NORSE-NO THE GREEK DID IT!- NO THE NORSE-GREEK-NORSE!"

"Oh jeez..." I mumble, even though I know that no one would be able to hear me.

And my house dives right into the heart of Hades and chaos.
