Kainaat looked around the penthouse with the widest smile on her face. All the arrangements were done according to how she wanted them to be. The lights were glittering all around the place, a beautifully crafted lantern rested in the balcony while brightening the place further. Her most favorite festival was here and she couldn't be happier. The festival of lights always put the brightest shine on her face. Whole Mumbai and India would be gleaming with lights while killing the darkness in the surrounding. Even though she never liked fireworks the dark sky of the night still looked most beautiful on nights of Diwali. There would be a different sort of glee around. People would spend time with their loved ones, distribute sweets, celebrate together on these days of festive which she loved and enjoyed the most.

She giggled when two arms got wrapped around her and tilted her head to look at Avyan. "I did everything just as you asked for," he said and a frown formed on her face.

"I helped you," She said while making him laugh. "Of course," he said and kissed her shoulder. She smiled while resting her head back on his shoulder. "This is our first Diwali here at our place, right?" She asked with happiness showing on her face. He smiled lightly and nodded.

"I wanted everything to be just perfect at my home," She said and giggled again happily. Avyan smiled further while adoring her face from the side. "Do you like it?" She asked and moved her head further to get a clear view of his face. He nodded as he moved his eyes at the lightning around.

"What is there to not like? It's beautiful," He said and looked back at her. She smiled wholeheartedly and moved her gaze back to the front. "Are you sure that you don't want to attend any parties?" he asked. Kainaat nodded slightly.

"I want to spend these days with families in peace rather than partying in that noise," She murmured. Avyan smiled further and pecked on the side of her head. "Alright, let's get ready. Dad has called to attend Puja," he said and gave another quick peck on her cheek. She giggled and nodded.

"Yes, and Avi, wear that Kurta I brought for you," she said when he moved back. He nodded. "Alright," he murmured further and took the mobile out of his to get greeted with dozens of Diwali wishes from family and friends. He furrowed his eyebrows and kept scrolling through the mobile.

"Who are these people?" he asked and sighed. "Some are numbers. I don't know who spread my number?" he self talked again. Kainaat rolled her eyes and shook her head. "It might have spread by you, love," she said and pressed a smile when Avyan glared at her.

She shrugged further before speaking again, "I mean you are always sugary sweet with everyone and keep spreading your number to everyone that it might have reached everywhere." Avyan sighed and shook his head.

"Inu," He called again while getting rested on the couch. She looked back and raised her eyebrows. "How about planning a trip later? We haven't spent much time lately," he asked. Kainaat gave him a dramatic look.

"You are saying this?" She asked and wiped her invisible tears, "I am so touched." Avyan rolled his eyes and shook his head a little before speaking further, "I do take interest in travel if not anything else." Kainaat nodded as she started rubbing the dust off wherever she found it.

"I guess this Vanita is getting too lazy," she murmured while moving a finger from the window sill. She frowned and showed the dust that grabbed her finger tail to Avyan who was not much bothered by it and kept looking inside his mobile. "I will throw your mobile outside. I asked you to take shower and do the laundry but you didn't do anything. It's close to noon on a festive day and yet there is nothing to eat. I am not asking you to cook for me but you can be considerate and wind up everything so we can go out for lunch or at least can cook something here but you don't want to do that too," She started in frustration while moving around the living room and gathering the mess around.

Avyan kept his mobile aside and stayed quiet while listening to her as he knew that if he continued to rebel then it won't be good for him or his mobile. "All you want to do is stuff your head into that mobile. You haven't even gathered that PlayStation. Everything is laying around. Who is going to clean that up?" She shouted further. Avyan cleared his throat and rubbed the back of his neck.

"I will do it," He said in a low voice while looking at the mess he had created. "When?" Kainaat shouted again. He sighed and nodded. "Yes, I am doing it now," he said and got up from his seat.

"There is mess everywhere, there is dust and no one is bothered. Do I need to follow that woman when she is cleaning up? Oh, wait, when does she do that?" She shouted in irritation further. Avyan kept gathering his mess while staying quiet. "I didn't keep any helpers in this house as I thought we will do everything together. It's good that way. I never liked people in the house or ordering people to do work for me but I didn't know it will be this worst," she said and sighed in annoyance.

"Fine, I am sorry. I was going to clean up," Avyan said again and got a glare from Kainaat in return. "You know what you can do best, Avi? You can just bluff around. That's all," she said and pressed a smile. Avyan sighed again heavily.

"Did you just sigh in irritation?" She asked again. Avyan looked back at her and shook his head negatively. "Nope, I sighed while looking at my own mess. I mean just look around. There are clothes, shoes, my PlayStation is scattered as well and I wasn't even able to find my car keys yesterday. I seriously need to be tidier," he said while making a dramatic face. Kainaat gritted her teeth.

"Stop that. I know you better to buy your words," she said. Avyan looked back at his mess and continued from where he left. "I can't bear this. I am going to my house and later I will go and meet Rishi Uncle and Dimple Aunty," Kainaat murmured and walked out of the living room.

Avyan moved his eyes to him. "I will get ready in a few minutes, Inu. I am sorry," he said but she was already out of view. He sighed heavily one more time and shook his head. "Of course, I was lazying around because I stayed up all night playing games and fixing lights," he murmured and sighed again.

He increased his speed and gathered everything that was laying around. He got up from his place and looked around the living room. "Damn, there is a lot," he murmured while scratching the back of his neck and sighed in frustration. "I will do that later before she leaves me alone," he said and rushed to the stairs only to see her descending now. She was the same but this time holding a bag in her hands.

"I am sorry," He said again. She rolled her eyes and walked past him. "I will get ready in my house," she murmured while getting her car keys which were hung on the wall joining the kitchen and living room.

"This is yours too," Avyan said. She rolled her eyes again. "This junkyard is yours as you anyway do what you want. No one listens to me," she said while showing him a glare.

"No one? There is just me," Avyan asked and looked down when she kept glaring at him. "There is no point in talking to you," she murmured again and walked out of the main door. She closed the door with a loud thud while making Avyan jerk a little.

He looked up and shook his head in disappointment. "How the fuck did it go this wrong?" He self talked in disbelief. "I should rush too," He murmured further and ran to the room upstairs to get ready for the first day of Diwali.

He entered Kainaat's parent's house with a little awkwardness while knowing they must have known the whole story already. He was embarrassed at his own stupidity. He rushed inside and widened his eyes with surprise to find his family already present. It wasn't exactly surprising considering they all were close and would spend all the festivals together since he and Kainaat were kids but he was supposed to attend Puja at his house today and no one bothered to tell him about this change.

"What are you guys already doing here?" He asked while crooking his eyebrows at his parents and brother. "Why can't we be here?" His father asked and laughed while looking at his friend.

"This is my second home," he said again as Kainaat's father laughed while agreeing with him. Avyan sighed and moved his gaze around the room. He heard the sound of clearing throats and looked back at his parents and Kainaat's parents.

They all laughed in unison. "My furious sister is in her room and nope you can't go," Kainaat's brother, Sahil spoke. Avyan frowned.

"Why?" He asked. He shrugged. "You made her upset. I told you that no matter how close friends we are I can't bear anything that would hurt my sister," he said. Avyan sighed and shook his head slightly.

"I..." He said and groaned. "Screw you all," he murmured while looking at the teasing glares and another set of laughter arose in the living room. He sighed and walked his way to get into Kainaat's room.

He knocked on the door and didn't get any response. "Inu," he whined. "I am sorry, yaar," he said again.

"Inu, I cleaned up all mess before getting here and I promise I'll keep the home clean. Our home and not my junkyard," he murmured while looking at the closed door. He sighed when the door remained the same and raised his hand again to knock for some more time.

If she was stubborn then he was too. He stayed rooted in his position while refusing to let go of the topic because he knew he was at fault this time. She did ask him to clear up the mess multiple times but he stayed stuck with his mobile while checking messages and social media and replying to some of the DMs.

"Inu, it's Diwali yaar. It's the festival of forgiveness," he said and heard a loud scoff from another side. "It's the festival of lights, useless," she shouted from the other side of the door. He chuckled and shook his head.

"Fine, I am useless and you know that, baby. Please just for this time. I am sorry," he said and waited for a few moments. The door unlocked and Kainaat glared at him. He smiled and held his ears.

She kept watching him for a few moments and held her ears as well while showing him a pout. He crooked his eyebrows. "I am sorry too for acting that way. I mean it was a festive day and I put out my frustration on you. Gosh, I am so bad, Avi. You should hate me and just..." She was saying but Avyan stopped her as he started laughing.

She frowned and hit his arm. "Avi," she shouted. Avyan contained his laughter and kept a finger on his lips for asking her to stop. "You talk too much, Inu," He said and pulled her cheeks.

"Avi," she whined further and hit his hands again. He laughed again and wrapped his arms around her small figure while pulling her into him.

She smiled wholeheartedly while wrapping her arms around his waist. "I love you," she whispered. Avyan smiled widely and pecked on her head. "I love you more and I am sorry again. I know I create a lot of mess always but you are always patient with me. I promise to be of help and not be a nuisance," he said and pulled back as he showed his pout to her.

She laughed and nodded. "You better," she said and moved her eyes from his head to toes. "You are looking gorgeous," she whispered. He smirked and winked at her.

"I have always been a charmer, Inu Baby," he said while widening his smirk at her. Kainaat started laughing again. "You are one hopeless creature," she said while containing her laugh and pushed him away. He chuckled.

"And yes I bought you this kurta and I was talking about it. You look gorgeous while wearing it," she said and moved her hand on his chest. He chuckled and shrugged.

"I am your choice so obviously I will look best with what you choose for me. Why can't you be my designer?" He asked while making a dramatic face and Kainaat hit his hand hard again. He started laughing further and shook his head.

"Are you ready for Diwali lunch?" He asked. She shrugged. "Just let me get my dupatta," she said while moving back into the room. Avyan followed her inside and closed the door to her room behind him. "Be ready because I feel they are going to bring up the marriage topic," she said again and made a face while looking back at him. Avyan sighed and nodded.

"Let's get your brother married first then. What say, my crime partner?" He asked while raising his eyebrows mischievously. Kainaat laughed and nodded. "I am with you, Partner," she said and raised her hand. Avyan clapped her hand and those two childhood buddies started laughing again.

Today was just another day of reliving their old days of being best friends to each other. It's been years of them being together. They went through many phases and experienced many changes in their relationship but what didn't change was their friendship. They were still the same old Inu and Avi who would team up and fight the world together.

No matter how angry they were with each other, no matter how big was their fight, they never left each other through anything. When it was time to take a stand they always stood by each other and that was their biggest strength.

The lunch got over with Sahil being frustrated with both of them while others were in splits seeing the sudden turn of events. The topic that started with Avyan and Kainaat's marriage ended up with people asking about Sahil's marriage.

Kainaat laughed her heart out while sitting along with the window of her room. Avyan joined her as soon with two mugs of coffee and they rested in their chairs while looking at the gorgeous sea view that her room had.

"The crackers will start soon. I wish I could do something for stays," Kainaat said. Avyan looked at her and nodded. "That's in our checklist. I hope we can help at least a few," He said. Kainaat looked back at him and smiled.

"I hope so too," she said and sighed. "About marriage," she said again and stopped for a few moments. Avyan got her clue and smiled further.

"Don't worry. I will soon propose you in a filmy way, my real heroine," He said and added, "I'll also sing, 'Tera Dyan Kidhar Hai, Ye Tera Hero Idhar Hai'," He started singing dramatically and Kainaat burst into laughter.

"Please, no, Avi. I'll do the singing part by changing a few lyrics but please, don't sing. Also, I won't help you to select a ring or anything. Do that by yourself," she said. Avyan laughed.

"You change," he said. She smirked at him and shrugged further before adding ahead, "Why would I? I have already chosen a ring for you." She showed her sweetest smile to him. Avyan raised his eyebrows in surprise.

"Seriously?" He asked. She shrugged. "I was thinking of proposing you some time back but then we had loads of films lined up. You were in rush, I was in rush and I didn't want this to be a rush. I want to be free of all work commitments and enjoy every moment of those days when they come," she said and smiled at him.

He kept watching her for a few moments with a silent smile playing on his lips. There was some unseen joy that her face held which made him feel happy for many reasons. "Me too," he said in a low voice. She looked back at him and smiled.

"Let's get done with these movies in hand to which we are already committed and let's get married later," He said. She nodded. "Let's do that. Though we are already sort of married I want an official one," she said again and giggled while adjusting her hair neatly. He kept smiling while looking at her.

"I don't want anything big but just a small function with a bunch of close family members and friends. Like how Anushka and Virat had," She said. Avyan laughed and nodded.

"So nothing like Deepika-Ranveer or Priyanka-Nick?" He asked while raising his eyebrows teasingly. She sighed and nodded. "That was a bit glittery. I prefer simple yet elegant," she said.

"Now Kat and Vicky might be next in line along with Ranbir and Alia. It would be crowded. But it's good that focus is diverted," she said. He chuckled. "Dude, we are in the spotlight ever since we have announced our relationship. Every day I get to learn something new about us and it leaves me shocked," he said and they both had a hearty laugh.

"But yes I would agree with your choice. I prefer the same for us," he said and bent forward as he pecked on the tip of her nose. She giggled. "I know that," she said and held his kurta when he was moving back to keep him holding back.

She smiled and pulled him closer again. She placed a wet kiss on his cheek. He smiled while feeling his most favourite touch. Kainaat moved back slightly but still stayed closer. Their noses were brushing against each other.

The sky was turning its shades as the evening was nearing and a gentle wind kept passing through the window that ruffled with them. "Just promise me that you will always stay closer like this," she asked again as that unknown fear passed through her eyes.

He smiled and put a hand on the side of her face. He moved further up and pecked on her forehead. "Where am I going? I have been bearing with you for the past 30 years. I can't really get away and get used to new habits now. I have grown old now, Inu," he said and made a dramatic face.

She laughed again and shook her head. "You are so dramatic," She said and pecked on Avyan's nose. She moved to kiss his cheeks and further moved to his neck. Avyan pushed her back gently and kissed her jaw. She frowned and pushed him back.

"New habits? What are you thinking? Going along with that Shanaya?" She asked. He burst into laughter and shook his head. "God, I am good being alone than getting used to her everyday drama," he said.

"You seem to have known her too well," she asked. He shrugged. "When you work with someone multiple times then you get to know a few things," he said and shrugged.

She shook her head. "I don't know," she said and put on a dramatic face before continuing further, "Oh wait, that's because I haven't worked with anyone for more than two movies."

Avyan made a face. "Yet," he said. She glared at him. "I was launched before you," she said and pressed a smile. He sighed and nodded.

"Besides, I didn't do the brands, stage shows and whatnot with the same person to deliberately sell my chemistry and movies. I mean four-five years you just had everything with her. Why? Weren't there other people who you would look better with? What were you all trying to prove? Even SRK-Kajol didn't overdo it," she said. Avyan sighed heavily.

"Just forget that. I was childish and new and just followed what was being told. Besides, you know I look best with you," he said and pouted at her. She rolled her eyes.

"That's true," she said and shrugged. He smiled and added, "You always liked SRK and Juhi more." She widened her eyes.

"Don't tell that to anyone," she whispered. He chuckled. "Your all secrets will forever be safe with me," he said and smiled.

"I know that for sure," She whispered with a truthful smile. Avyan smiled back and moved further closer to her. "The coffee got cold now," she said and made a face. He smiled and shrugged before speaking again, "We will warm it up again like always."

She chuckled and nodded. "Like always," she said in a low voice. Avyan smiled and nodded before bending forward and sealing their lips together.
