Having a secret crush on your big brother's best friend is never great due to never wanting to upset the friendship they had. That's why you never confessed your feeling to Tooru Oikawa, not wanting to cause issues with your brother Hajime Iwaizumi. There was only a year been you and the two friends, as they were third years at Aoba Johsai whereas you were a second year.

It also didn't help that Oikawa was a complete jerk and obsessed with both girls and volleyball. Most of the time you could understand why your brother called him names such as Shittykawa, Assikawa, Krappykawa, the list went on and on. However, the two were the best of friends as Hajime was the only one that knew when the pretty boy you crushed on was truly happy.

In the end, the predicament you were in was, you liked Oikawa and you couldn't do anything about it. Due to that, you made sure to not really interact with the tall guy, even when he was always at your house with your bro, you'd find some excuse to not be around or just lock yourself in your room. This meant that Oikawa himself hadn't seen what a beautiful woman you were becoming, all he remembered was how cute you used to be whenever you wanted to play with him and Iwa before you completely lost touch with him.

That was until the storm one cold December day after school, that is the day that Oikawa saw the sweet, kind woman you were becoming, unlike your ruthless brother. However, the day started like any other cold December a few days before the end of the term and the beginning of the Christmas and New Year break.

As usual, you walked to school before Iwa and Oikawa set off, then during the busy school day, you took part in your school activities and unlike your brother, you preferred netball to the volleyball he enjoyed so much. At practice that day they declared that it wouldn't be on in the evening due to a storm on its way, they predicted it to be a pretty bad one a rare thing in Japan in December. If you were going to have a wet rainy day in Japan, it would be in May but you can never rule out rain and storms to come and go as they please.

As the bell went at the end of the day, it was if the heavens opened up and most people luckily had seen that there would be a storm that day and had packed an umbrella. Of course, you were one of those that had. A person that hadn't was Oikawa, whose practice had also been cancelled.

Iwa had been prepared and left the setter stood there grumbling at the sky, not wanting to get wet so had decided to see if the rain would settle but it was clear that wouldn't happen. That's when a girl stood next to him.

"I forgot my umbrella to Oikawa...It's a shame, we could have walked home together," the random girl fawned over the handsome guy.

"Oh...it's such a shame. I would have loved to accompany a pretty thing as you back home," he smiled but it was clear he just wanted to go home but this girl wasn't going to leave him alone without him offering her something.

"We can wait it out together...what do you say Oikawa?" grabbing his hand, she started to pull him back into the school, but he pulled back.

"Ooo well it looks as if the sky is clearing..." the guy was clutching at straws but luckily for him, you had seen the distress he was in and for some reason took pity on the usual flirt. The only reason you were still actually there was that you'd actually left your lunchbox in your class, so whilst the little meeting between the two was happening you were putting your shoes on in the locker room.

"Oikawa," calling out to the setter, he recognised your voice instantly not sure why you were actually speaking to him.

"(f/n)-Chan!" it was clear he still felt he could call you the cute name he used to, pissing the girl with him off as she felt there was more to it. However, the look on Oikawa's face didn't help as you stood in front of him holding an umbrella out. All he could look at though was your blushing cheeks whilst not looking him in the face. "What's that?" he glanced at the brolly in your hand as you glanced at his warm brown eyes briefly.

"My brother said you left this in class," it was a lie, you knew, and he knew it. As he went to deny it though you pushed it into his hand before turning on your heels and looking for any sort of opening in rain. Of course, there was none, so not wanting to stick around you pulled your hood and began to run through the rain home.

"Who is she?" it was a jealous tone from the girl next to the handsome boy, making him turn to her.

"Just Iwa-chan's little sister. I forgot I brought an umbrella today, that guy is always looking after me," it was through gritted teeth he took the girls hand and dragging her out of the building to walk her home. It wasn't a great walk home for him as the girl clung to him, making him want to snap but he had a reputation to uphold. Yet all the time he walked, his mind was distance worried that you might get sick in the rain, but also how cute you looked blushing like that as well as how much you had grown since he truly looked at you.

Making the decision to get to your house early tomorrow to return your umbrella but also to actually take a second look, as he'd almost not recognised you from the girl you had once been.

Meanwhile, you were soaked to the bone, freezing and just wanted this nightmare to end. When you did finally get home, you looked like a drowned rat, as the little mermaid was a definite lie as no one could look at that good with wet hair.

Taking your shoes off, there was a literal puddle under where you were stood that's how wet you were. When Hajime just happened to walk downstairs to see what was for dinner, he had to look twice at you before rushing back upstairs and grabbing a towel. Mostly so your mum didn't murder you for firstly, getting the floor soaked and secondly, so you could dry off a bit and get a hot shower or bath.ย

"I thought you took an umbrella?" feeling a towel get dumped on your head before it being ruffled on your head. Grabbing the towel, you began to dry yourself off as much as possible before glaring up at your brother.

"It's nothing," clearly having a tantrum, you chucked the towel on the puddle on the floor to wipe up any trace before you mum saw. Fate was clearly not on your side today though, as your mum walked through the door seeing you drenched, Hajime looked worried and a massive puddle on the floor.

"I thought I told you there was a storm, are you wanting to get sick?" the woman snapped as you stood up at your limit for the day.

"Yes that's exactly what I wanted," chucking the towel to your brother who stood a little stunned at your snapback, you stormed to your bedroom to get some dry clothes before they heard you slam the bathroom door shut.

"Geez, I can't deal with her if she is going through the temperamental teen stage at 17 nearly 18..." the woman groaned, always wanting two boys but ending up with one of each. Not knowing what was going on your brother just shrugged, before feeling his phone buzz.

Shitty-Kawa - Iwa-chan did (f/n)-chan get home safe?

That is when the realisation that somehow your current state was due to his friend. It had not gone unnoticed how you'd started to look at Oikawa, and that you had purposefully began to avoid the two the older you got. Alas, he couldn't work out how Oikawa would have affected you getting so wet, so he needed to dig a little.

Iwa-Chan - yeh...wtf you do?

Annoyed and not ever pulling punches, he wasn't surprised the response was so quick.

Shitty-Kawa - Iwa-chan ur meannnnnn ๐Ÿ˜ญ I saw her running in the rain is all.

Not wanting to piss your brother off anymore the setter lied, deciding that he would see if you were ok for himself tomorrow.

Iwa-Chan - yeh she was wet. If ur lyin I'll end u ๐Ÿคฌ

The thought sent shudders down the guy's spine as he knew that Iwa would not pull his punches, so that night he prayed that you didn't get sick from the rain. Whereas you decided that after your hot shower to go straight to bed to get warm, as the shower hadn't helped with the foreseen happening as you woke up ill.

That still wasn't an excuse to not go to school in your mum's eyes, as you'd been stupid enough to not take an umbrella. Hajime argued a little with the woman stating you looked awful and shouldn't go to school, but you told him to mind his own business.

After your mum left, he tried to convince you to stay home and that he'd cover for you since you clearly had a fever but you told him you'd be fine now the storm was over. Not willing to continue arguing, he told you to suit yourself as he watched you get your shoes on.

The knock on the door made you jump, but as you were closest you opened the door to see Oikawa stood smiling there as usual but normally you'd left by this point...or was he early as you'd not actually checked the time.

"Morning (f/n)-chan, and how are you today?" his smooth words were like silver honey, yet you were embarrassed as you looked like crap right now. Quickly turning, you sat back on the step with your head down at the shoe you were putting on.

"I'm fine...did you get her home ok?" it was a little bitter and unfortunately for Oikawa, Iwa walked in hearing your cold tone.

"Who got home?" feeling the presence behind you, it was clear there was murderous intent seeping off your brother towards the guy who stood at the door looking like a mischievous imp. "Shitty-Kawa...what you do?" feeling him stepping forward, you stood up putting a hand on Hajime chest.

"He did nothing, why you think Oikawa did something? I forgot my umbrella it's my fault bl..." your fever had risen that much you began to feel faint, you started falling backwards a hand reached out but wasn't fast enough in front of you. Nevertheless, you didn't hit the floor instead you fell backwards into Oikawa who'd stepped forward to stop you.

"Gotcha, (f/n) chan," his voice sounded full of concern, but also guilt making you look up with drowsy eyes before they began extremely heavy. Completely out of it, you'd not realised that Oikawa had swept you off your feet like a princess and was currently walking past you even more pissed off looking brother to put you into bed.

Hajime was no way going to leave the playboy alone with his little sister in his room and ran upstairs to see you being gently placed on the bed. As Oikawa placed you down, he managed to truly look at you. Sure, your face was sweaty, and pasty from the fever but it was hard to deny that you were stunning. "wow!" it was quiet, but it made you look up, for a second to see Oikawa looking down from above you.

"Tooruuu...what?" before you could say anything Hajime was there pushing the setter out of the way.

"You're staying home. I don't give a shit what you say," raging at the fact that this was somehow Oikawa's fault, but he couldn't prove it and that you were sick.

"Iwaizumi, don't yell at her! Can't you see that (f/n) is ill? Geez, what type of big brother shouts at his sick sister. Plus, we're gonna be late," it was the annoyed tone of Oikawa that snapped your brother back.

"Yeh, sorry (f/n). I'll go grab a cool pack for your head, Oikawa out her room so she get changed." glaring at the guy, you were a little drowsy still that it felt weird the two being in your room. Once you were eventually in bed and they were happy that you would be ok the guys left for school and since volleyball was back on, Iwa didn't come back until later that night with supplies.

However, you were asleep still as he changed your cool pack and he dealt with your mum when she said she told you so.ย  That night Oikawa lay in his bed throwing the volleyball up and down, his mind whirring with images of how cute, hot and beautiful you look and frustrated he'd never actually seen it until the last year of school. That's when he decided he was going to do something nice for you, but he was going to have to somehow persuade your brother to let you go on a date with him without being murdered in the process.

The next day you still weren't well and luckily, your mum was working away up until Christmas eve, so it would just be you and your brother at home. It was also the last day of school before the Christmas break so you were gutted you wouldn't be able to see your friends on the last day. To say you were regretting your choice at helping Oikawa with some girl was a complete understatement.

Meanwhile, it wasn't until the last practice session that Oikawa decided to ask because at least he may have the protection of the coaches being there but it was very unfortunate for him that they weren't there and it was a free practice session.

Whilst practising a few sets, it's clear to everyone that their setters mind is elsewhere. "Oi Shitty-Kawa what the hell are you even thinkin' about with these shitty sets?" that made him stop and look at his friend.

"Geez Iwa-Chan no need to be so rude. Plus, if you must know I want to take your sister on a date," it was the only way to do it. The whole room went silent as not everyone knew the third year had a sister, even those in your year wasn't aware but to some of them, it just clicked.

"F/n is your sister?" Watari commented instantly deciding to keep quiet.

"Like hell? Don't you think you've done enough? I know she is sick somehow because of you?" grabbing his shirt everyone just watched since Oikawa had brought this on himself.

"A little...like she gave me her umbrella and ran off. I didn't have a chance to stop her," shrugging, he was trying to act casually but Iwa saw the guilt in his brown eyes instantly dropping the guy who rearranged his shirt.

"She is still sick, plus I doubt she will want to go on a date with an asshole like you," was all he said before deciding it best to pair with someone else not to kill the centre of his rage right now. For the rest of the session, he avoids Oikawa like the plague but at the end of the session, they walked back together, at first in silence.

"I need to fetch something tomorrow. I'll let you come and look after her while I'm gone for an hour. You can ask her yourself," was all your brother said before walking up to your door, stopping Oikawa in his tracks and looking towards your bedroom window.

It was strange, it felt excited, nervous and terrified that you would decline him. After all, you'd been avoiding him for all these years even though he'd only just noticed. 'You been on plenty of dates...you got this' giving himself he gives himself a pep talk, before spending the night looking at different places to take you, even though he'd not actually asked you yet.

When Hajime got home that night, he seemed more annoyed than normal and didn't really stop much to check on you. Annoyed that he blamed Oikawa these last few days when in fact it was if fact your fault.

As planned he went out the next day before you were awake, still feeling a little crappy but not as bad you dragged yourself to the kitchen to find a tablet for the headache when there was a knock on the door. Not wanting to answer, you thought your bro was still in but when he didn't come running down when after the second knock you dragged your aching body to the door.

Upon opening it, there he stood in all his handsome cocky glory as his brown eyes stare into your (e/c), "Good Morning Beautiful, you're looking good," the silver-tongued setters words normally would have more effect, but the headache lessened the reaction as you blushed ever so slightly.

"Hajime's not here," was all you commented before going to shut the door, only for it to be stopped.

"I know. I'm here to see you," stopping in your motion you stared at the guy in disbelief.

"Huh? Me why me?" a little confused you allowed him to enter into the house.

"Well, I wanted to say thank you for letting me you use your umbrella and to make sure that you were ok?" this only seemed to confuse you even more, which was clear to Oikawa, "So, Christmas Eve, do you want to go for a coffee or something?" scratching the back of his head before winking and sticking his tongue out.

It took you a moment to even compute his words, "Oh ermm sure...time?" you were acting very sheepish since your crush was asking you to do something on Christmas Eve.

"Oh great, I'll come to get you about lunchtime. Wear something warm and cute. Although I know you'll look cute in whatever you wear. Also, I got you some medicine if you still feel sick, oh and your umbrella," passing over the umbrella your fingers touched both of you feeling a little a tingle as the door swung open.

Hajime had regretted his words and had run back to make sure that nothing indecent was happening to you. "Ouch...Iwa-Chan," Oikawa groaned as he was being pulled back out the house. At first, you were a little stunned before the cutest giggle left your lips, stunning both the guys.

"I'll see you, Christmas Eve..." turning on your heels your face was bright red and not from the fever, you thought that you may still be dreaming but you weren't it was actually happening. When you realised you weren't you spent all your time focused on getting better and trying to pick a cute outfit.

To say you were excited, nervous and curious about why he had asked you was an understatement. Of course, you tried to act normal in front of Hajime, but he could see you excited to be going on a date. It's not like he didn't know that you liked the older boy, but he been thankful when you were off Oikawa's radar as he knew the two of you were perfect for each other.

When there was a knock on the door Christmas Eve, your brother answered it and stood looking handsome but a little fidgety was Oikawa. "Opp wrong Iwaizumi," he joked not getting a reaction from the guy stood in front of him.

"Just don't break her heart, for some reason she actually likes a shitty person like you," was all Hajime growled before hearing you running downstairs looking amazing that it took both guys breaths away in different ways. Oikawa's at how amazing you looked and your brothers in the fact he wanted to lock you in your room so Oikawa could put his dirty mitts on you.

"Hey, ready to go," smiling sweetly all he did was nod before the two of you left your house. For a moment, your brother paced on the spot before 5 mins after you had left there was a knock on the door. Stood there were Matsukawa and Hanamaki, all wrapped up warm and waiting for the guy to put his boots on as there was no way over his dead body he wasn't going to follow the two of you.

"You sure about this?" Matsukawa declared as Hanamaki glanced at the short guy of the three of them.

"Yeh...I'll kill him otherwise," Iwa growled making the two laugh, then three of them followed at a reasonable distance. Looking like the two of you walked not talking for a quite a while, and you looked super nervous before turning to look at Oikawa.

"So... why you really ask me on a date? Was it to get at my brother?" being blunt it hurt the boy a lot.

"What of course not, I wanted to say thank you. Plus, it is my fault you got sick," scratching back of his head nervously. Something the third year never was around girls.

"It's my fault. I gave you the umbrella. I'm surprised you didn't have a full schedule today with all the girls that follow you like sheep," the comment made him stop, was that how you'd seen him for these years and was that the reason you avoided him.

"No. I don't like that you know. They're way too needy," he groaned making you laugh.

"Well, it is your fault ya know," you mumble, not realising you'd said it out loud.

"Why's it my fault?" as he looked at you utterly confused making your cheeks go bright red before beginning to walk fast. "Wait up! I don't get it" that made you turn to look a little angry that your brother was currently being held back as he watched you you poke the 6ftish guy with your finger.

"Because, you're a flirt, cocky, smug, immature and well too good looking but you know it, so you use it to your advantage and it pisses me off," you looked just like Hajime for a second as Oikawa stood on the spot as you began to walk, feeling like an idiot before you felt someone grab your hand.

"Well...you're not wrong. The aliens made me this way," it was so immature, but you actually laughed at the comment as you used to joke as kids the aliens made him into a weirdo. "Come on, we're nearly there," he whispered in your ear before keeping hold of your hand and walking the last bit towards the ice rink with a Christmas tree set up.

"Wow it looks amazing!" your eyes shimmering at the romantic gesture.

"Shall we," helping you to the booth to get skates, he'd already booked the tickets. Trying to pay for yours he said it was his treat as a thank you. As you got on the ice, your brother and friends got a coffee and sat watching from a distance. Oikawa had spotted the trio sticking his tongue out at Iwa as you put your skates on.

However, when on the ice the two of you went around together holding hands like a couple it was adorable and such a cute couple. Oikawa was wearing the cutest hat and scarf set, but you wanted to go a little faster whilst Oikawa wanted a mini-break due to his knee.

"I'm gonna stand there a second," he commented kissing your cheeks softly before taking a seat. Stunned for a second, you had the biggest grin on your face as you began to skate around the ice, showing off a little bit, bumping straight into a group who'd just got there. Oikawa couldn't believe his shitty luck as he saw you on the floor with none other than Kageyama.

The thing was you knew the setter currently being pulled off you by some guys he was with. "Kageyama that you?" smiling the blue-eyed male took another look before smiling ever so slightly.

"Iwaizumi, it's been a while," he smiled offering your hand to get up not realising that Oikawa was on his way slowly to get you, not wanting to damage his own knee. That's when the boy you'd bumped into group started asking questions.

"Yeh we went to school together; my big bro Hajime was on the same volleyball team. I think you guys beat them recently. I know Oikawa was pissed about that," you smile.

"What you know the great king!" a little ginger-haired guy commented as the rest of the Karasuno volleyball team shake their heads in disbelief that Hinata hadn't put two and two together. However, you didn't get to answer as two arms went around your waist.

"Tobio-chan, isn't it nice to see my little protege," you were bright red from your embrace with the older boy, that it confused Kageyama. "Shall we continue going around now, (f/n)-chan," kissing your cheek, you were blushing, but you'd not seen Kageyama since Kitagawa.

"Ermm yes, we'll have to meet up sometime Kageyama," smiling you waved as you turned to Oikawa who looked vexed.

"What's up? Are you jealous of Kageyama?" smirking wickedly at the guy whose arms you were currently in, he pouted.

"No... I just don't like him," that made you giggle before doing something that stunned Oikawa, then making your brother want to murder you. Pulling on Oikawa's scarf, you weren't bothered if this wasn't going anywhere as long as you got your first kiss from your first crush.

As soon as your lips touched Oikawa's, it was like nothing he'd ever felt ever before as the Christmas cheer continued in the background all he could focus on was how the strawberry Chapstick tasted on your lips and how sweet your kiss was before it was gone again.

"Merry Christmas Oikawa," you smile sweetly before your pulled back into the taller boy your brother running towards the ice rink to kill Oikawa as the setter pulls away looking down at you, thinking that there would be nothing better than the moment right now to ask you what he'd wanted to ask since the day you'd given him that umbrella.

"Will you call me Tooru? Since I hope you'll be my girlfriend?" looking nervous you didn't get a chance to answer as Iwa pulled him off you. Karasuno and the rest of the ice rink looking on as you just giggled.

"Shitty Kawa I told you not to try anything!" Hajime was raging before feeling your hand on his arm.

"Oi Shitty-ime, you're ruing my Christmas eve date with my boyfriend...Tooru," you growl with the same scowl as your brother making him let go.

"Fine," he growls before Tooru gets behind you wrapping his arms around you.

"Princess...your brother is such a meanie!" he sobbed playfully making you giggle.

"Don't worry Tooru. I'll protect you...Plus, I didn't get you a Christmas present..." you turn to look at him as he smirked, dying to tease your brother but not actually lying.

"Well, I can think of one thing we could do for Christmas..." wiggling his eyebrows you didn't have chance to playfully slap him since he was now running from your brother on the rampage to murder him.

"Help me (f/n)-chan..." he pleaded playfully as you just shook your head.

"Nah you brought that one on yourself!" you giggle before the two of you continued your date alone, with no one tailing you and as Oikawa got you to your door, he kissed you softly as you kissed back.

"Merry Christmas (f/n)," he said hugging you as you hugged him back.

"Merry Christmas to you too, Tooru," smiling back, that was the first time but not the last time you kissed your boyfriend and future husband on Christmas Eve.
