RIVER

River and Rio walked back through the door of their new apartment after they had gotten some more stuff, and gotten meaning they stole everything... They both flopped onto Rivers mattress, staring up at the ceiling.

"are you ok?" Rio asked River quietly, River turned her head to look at him "yeah, why?" River replied, matching his quiet tone, Rio thought for a moment "i don't know, you seem sad" Rio told her truthfully, River sighed and gave him a tight lipped smile "i'm ok bud, promise" River smiled at him, Rio stared at her suspiciously for a moment.

He stuck out his pinky and looked at her expectedly, River couldn't help but laugh softly as she brought her hand up to wrap her pinky around his smaller one. River shook their hands slightly before letting go "do you have any friends?" Rio asked, River didn't take it in a rude way, he sounded innocent and curious with the question.

"yeah..." River frowned as she thought back to Emmy and Caspian. They were the only two people in the entire world that were always there for River as she dealt with everything.

They never judged her, or saw her indifferent. They protected her when she didn't know she needed it, they cared for her when she couldn't do it for herself, they comforted her after she'd yelled at them and had been pushing them away. Their love and acceptance never differed, through it all, they were there.

But River was so mad, but her being so angry at Emmy was draining her. It created a pit in her stomach that she thought would be filled with Powders presence, River was a lot happier with Powder back in her life, but... Emmy had been her best friend when River needed it most, River loved Emmy, and no matter how much she had hated Emmy in the moment, she knew she didn't really.

"what are there names?" River brought River back to reality "Emmy and Caspian" Rive told him, Rio laughed softly "Caspian is a weird name" Rio said which caused River to laugh "that's exactly what i thought when i first met him" "how did you meet?" "one day i fell from a building her something like that, and Caspian was the one who found me, i was ok though, but after that he wouldn't leave me alone, he practically forced me to be friends with him. I didn't know it at the time but that was one of the best things that happened to me"

"Where is he now?" Rio asked, "uhh i don't know, we haven't talked in a bit. But i miss him a lot" River said the last part of her sentence like she was embarrassed by it, "what happened" "um Emmy lied about something and kinda brought him into it, and now with me and Emmy not talking, i don't know how to act with him" River told him honestly.

River got silence in return, She looked back over to him and saw that he had fallen asleep, she chuckled softly and slowly meant to sit up, she grabbed her blanket and rested it over him, River smiled at the sight, she gently rubbed his cheek with the back of her hand before retracting her hand again.

River then quietly left the apartment thought the window in the living room, it was crazy that a seven year old was the reason River wanted to see Caspian again and talk to him about every thing.

Once River climbed onto the roof she went start looking for Caspian but quickly stop when she heard something form behind her, She quickly turned around with a dagger in her hand but quickly dropped it once realised who it was "Caspian?" she breathed out in confusion.

"What are you doing here?" she asked as she walked up to him "oh well! it's a funny story because just a little bit ago-" "you followed me?" "pretty much" he replied, the two stood in silence for a moment. "I missed you" River muttered awkwardly as she looked down at her feet, shifting her weight.

Caspian chuckled and walked over to her, wrapping his arm around her neck and pulled her in close. He rested his cheek on her head, River tensed up with her arms hanging beside her before she slowly brought one hand up and rubbed his back.
The two stepped apart from each other, "come with me" River spoke.

"So what actually happened with you and Emmy?" Caspian asked curiously, River looked at him, surprised that Emmy hadn't told him "she didn't tell you?" River asked, Caspian stared at her with a straight face "no? one minute everything was fine the next i'm coming home and Emmy is crying saying you left, so i went to go look for you but she told me not to and that you had a fight, and then she's just told me you've moved out? so I just wanted to actually talk to you so i can understand what the fuck happened" Caspian explained to River.

River sighed "we had a fight about Powder" River started, Caspian's eyes widened and he shifted in his spot on the small couch "oh" "um the fight was basically just that i was angry that she hid it from me, and i was angry at you too. But when i saw Emmy again she kinda explained your part in it a bit more but yeah... that's kinda it" River shrugged.

Caspian shook his head and scrunched up his eyebrows "wait, so how did you find out?" Caspian asked "i'm not really sure why Powder was at the apartment in the first place, but... when i came home there was a gunshot in the window, and I only saw her back so i went to run after her. Then i realised that it was Powder, I stayed with her for a bit but then i went back to check in Emmy"

"So how are things with you and Emmy now?" Caspian reluctantly asked her, River rested her head up, "i don't know, i'm-i'm mad at her, but i'm mostly confused. I'm confused why she hid it from me" River shook her head as she thought.

"Because she loves you."

"what?" River looked at him "she loves you so much, that when she found out that Powder was alive, she wanted to tell you, she did. But she was terrified that you would leave and she'd never see you again. And then it just went on for so long, that she knew if she told you now, you would leave" Caspian's voice was gentle, each word had weight to it as they sunk into River.

"When did you get smart?" River asked with a tiny smile, Caspian chuckled "man shut up, i've always been smart!" Caspian defended himself, causing River to laugh as well.

"So where have you been these past weeks?" Caspian asked her "with Powder" River smiled slightly, Caspian noticed it instantly "where is she now" "at her little hideout" "what happened?" Caspian could tell that something had happened between the two of them "i was being stupid, and jealous, and immature and over reacting" River sighed "and she left?" "i don't blame her, the way i acted, she had every right to not want to deal with that"

"Have you talked to her?" Caspian asked, "no... not yet" River looked back up at the roof, the corners of her mouth twisted downwards "you'll work it out" Caspian nudged her shoulder with a smile, River laughed softly.

"River?" Rio's tired voice, wavering slightly "yeah?" she answered, Rio walked over to the side of the couch she was on, looking at Caspian curiously "this is Caspian, Caspian this is Rio" River introduced "oh!" Caspian's eyes widened in surprise "Oh! River told me about you!" Rios shy demeanour broke and he was excited "did she now?" Caspian smirked at her with a smug expression on his face.

"Your name is kinda stupid" Rio bluntly said, River covered her mouth with her hand as she held back a laugh "oh- well - no it's not- i've actually been told it's cool" Caspian stumbled over his words making River start to fully laugh "why are you lying" River laughed out.

"shut up" Caspian grumbled, both Rio and River laughed behind there hands, a habit Rio happened to pick up from River.

"I have an idea" Rio perked up with a mischievous smirk playing on his lips, River rolled her eyes, annoyed at his idea already "how bout me and Caspy-" Caspian shot his head over to Rio with a disgusted face at the nickname he came up with for him "don't call me that" Caspian said, Rio looked at Caspian and put his hand over Caspian's mouth.

River laughed "shhh" Rio said and took his hand back "anyways, I'll stay with Caspy, and you go talk to, wink wink" Rio wiggled his eyebrows at her "you can't say wink wink" River scrunched her face up "i just did" "well you sound stupid" "you look stupid" Rio shot back which caused Caspian to burst out laughing.

"you know what, i will leave cause i don't wanna be around you haters" River childishly poked her tongue at them as she left the small apartment, when she closed the door she could hear the two giggle like little girls.

River shook her head and laughed softly, but her demeanour quickly changed when she thought about Powder, she knew she had to be mature and go talk to her instead of avoiding it like she always did, Powder wasn't just another girl.
