RIVER

         "so did it work?" a woman's high pitched, scratchy voice spoke, Phoenix chuckled darkly "yeah, there all just dropping dead like flies" he laughed proudly, she snickered along with him "have you finished the other version yet? he's starting to get impatient" her voice shook slightly at the mention of an unknown person to River.

Rivers hands clenched, the only thing stopping her nails digging into the flesh of her palm was the black leather gloves covering her hands and arms, the same gloves Vander had given her.

"I'm so close to finishing it" "make sure it's finished by next week." she said firmly. Phoenix sighed and rolled his eyes but nodded his head regardless "will do" he replied, "good" River watched the woman walk away from him.

River snarled in anger and walked out from the dark corner she was hidden in. River quietly brought her knife out of the sheath, she walked closer to him and brought the tip of the knife to his throat, he jumped in surprise, his eyes widened with panic. He gasped as River pressed the knife further into his throat, drawing blood.

River took the knife away and turned him around, once he saw River his eyes widened in panic "deadlock" he whispered in shock, River smirked and narrowed her eyes at him, a glint of enjoyment in her eyes at the way his eyes were filled with fear.

River didn't wait a moment to punched him harshly in the gut, he collapsed at the sudden jolt of pain, he scrambled to get up and threw a punch to River. She quickly dodged the punch and slashed the knife at him, the knife cut his stomach.

River dropped her knife momentarily and punched him in the nose, Phoenix cried out before he launched at River he grabbed her waist and pushed her to the floor. He threw a couple punches to her face before River punched him in the ribs, she elbowed him in the gut then hit him in the face with her own head.

She pushed him off and threw punch after punch, not stopping for anything, she grabbed the collar of his shirt and slammed his head up and down into the stone ground. She picked up her disregarded knife and plunged it into his stomach. She pushed it into him deeper and twisted it around.

"Tell me about what you've been selling" River demanded, Phoenix smiled weakly up at her "fuck you" he spat at her. River looked at him in disgust and pushed the knife in even further making him cry out in pain.

"tell me" River growled "let's just say by the time what i've planned is done. We're going to have an army of ruthless killers, you have no idea what's coming" was the last thing he whispered before his head dropped back, all life leaving his eyes.

River snarled and stood up, she kicked his body and retrieved her knife that was still stuck in his stomach. River thought that she would feel relieved about Phoenix being dead. But if anything she was anxious, she was anxious about what he had told her. She knew that whatever he had been selling, it was more than that. There was something bigger happening and Rive couldn't rest until she knew what was happening.

River cut off his thumb and gauged out his eye. It was her proof of their death for whoever hired her. River's face scrunched up in disgust as she used her knife to put the eye and thumb into a little brown bag.

River grabbed the shirt of Phoenix and dragged him through to the way she always went.

Once River arrived she whistled loudly, a giant white wolf ran up to her, his tongue stuck out as he panted excitedly. River couldn't help but smile "hey buddy" River patted his head. River had found him as a little puppy. His mom was hunted and he was lying down guarding her dead body.

You could imagine Emmy and Caspian's surprise once River showed them a little white wolf. From then on River would bring her victim's bodies to him for him to eat.

"Alright, there you go bud" River grunted as she dragged the body over to him. He instantly grabbed the body like it was a chew toy. He dug his teeth into him and blood squirted out "ok, that's really gross" River muttered and walked to the side of him.

She scratched the side of his fluffy white fur, he dropped the body and turned to River and showed his top teeth to her, it wasn't him being aggressive or guarding his food, that was his way of smiling at River. Though any other person that went up to him he would kill them.

River walked back through the Lanes and was now trying to find a new apartment, she listened to an old frail man with missing teeth and a horrible stench to him, "yeah whatever i'll take it" River had walked through the apartment and thought it was good enough. I mean it's an apartment in the undercity, they all are basically ready to collapse and barely have working water.

"great! so-" he started talking again, River threw a bag of money at him and stared blankly at him "pleasure doing business with you" he scrambled out of the empty apartment, River would be able to pay for the apartment, she was paying for the last shared apartment with the help of Caspian, which was more expensive than this one.

The apartment was much smaller, it had a little hallway with two bedrooms across from each other, then there was a below average bathroom at the end of the hall. When you walked through the door of the apartment to the leftthere was a tiny kitchen, to the right there was a little table pushed against the wall.

Then as you walked further there was a small couch against the wall. It was nothing big, or fancy, but it was enough. It was enough for her and Rio.

River knocked on Silco's office door "come in"
River walked into the office and closed the door behind her, she tossed the brown bag onto his desk and stared at him silently, he opened the bag and looked into it, nodding his head softly before giving River the bag that held the rest of the money in.

"well done" he said before turning around in his chair. River took the bag of money and left his office, now head back to Jinx's hideout.

As River walked in she could see Jinx reaching Rio how to make a bomb, River didn't make her arrival known, she just wanted to admire how Jinx and Rio acted when they thought they were alone.

"holy shit! you did it Rio! good job" Jinx jumped up from her chair in excitement as she held up the bomb Rio had created "holy shit i did it" Rio copied what Jinx said, his voice going high pitched.

Jinx didn't say anything as she looked at Rio with wide eyes before she broke out in a loud laugh. River finally walked up to them "I can't believe your already teaching him to swear" River laughed quietly "that's not all i taught him" Jinx smirked and nudged Rio, he quickly turned around and picked up the bomb Jinx had help him create.

He held the bomb up to show River with a proud smile on his face, River took the bomb and admired it "you made this?" River asked, Rio nodded his head fast "damn, if i did it i'd probably end up being blown up" River commented, Rio chuckled "this is really good!" River smiled as she handed it back to him.

"I think that you could easily make one Star!" Jinx smiled, Rivers heart skipped a beat at the nickname "maybe" River shrugged, "anyways. I wanna show you guys something" River told them vaguely.

River had led them both to her new apartment, "what's this?" Rio asked "my new apartment" River's words made Jinx's smile falter, River unlocked the door and held it open for Rio and Jinx, as Jinx went to walk in River softly grabbed her arm, making her stop.

"You ok, Blue?" River squinted her eyes as her thumb absentmindedly rubbed her arm, Jinx looked up at River, she hated how River always could read her so well.

"yup" Jinx replied, River raised a brow at her sceptically, Jinx sighed, knowing that she was going to have to tell River. Jinx's mind was telling her that it was annoying and that she didn't always want to express every emotions. But it was Powder that understood it was just a way of trying to protect herself, because with River, her wall crumbled down.

Honestly, Jinx thought it was nice to have someone who truly could understand her without having to be told. And no matter how she acted, she knew that River wouldn't have to ask twice. She couldn't hold herself back from spilling every little secret and emotion she had. Maybe that's why she pushed it away or denied that feeling so much.

"I'm scared that i'm just gonna... stop seeing you... I guess" Jinx muttered as if admitting it was something embarrassing, River smiled softly at her and tilted her head. She brought her hand up to Jinx's face and gently grazed the back of her hand against Powder's cheek.

"Just because i found a new apartment doesn't mean we have to see each other less. I only wanted to get a new one because i wanted Rio to have his own space and so I don't have to share an apartment with Caspian and Emmy anymore." River explained to Jinx, sparring Rio a glance as he explored the small apartment.

Jinx looked down at her boots and nodded her head "ok" she whispered "also i felt bad that you ever get to sleep alone, I just barged in and took away your space" River shook her head, Jinx scrunched up her face at River "don't feel bad about that... I actually loved it" she shrugged her shoulders.

River smiled at her softly "well.. just see this place as yours too. Decorate however you want, sleep here whenever you want. Randomly show up show up so much that's it's not even a surprise for me." River smiled at her "you bet I will" Jinx smiled before she finally walked in.

"So... what are you going to do about getting furniture?" Jinx thought out loud "well... i'm gonna have to go back to my old room to get some shit that was expensive and i want back. But the other bigger stuff i'll just have to get, but obviously i can't get it all at once" River shrugged.

"When are you going?" "i was going to go soon" River admitted "well then you go deal with that and i'll stay with Rio" Jinx offered, River narrowed her eyes at her "you sure?" "yeah"

River sighed before knocking on the old apartment, the door opened which revealed Emmy "River" she exhaled out, River stood there awkwardly "i just came to get some of my stuff" she quietly told her. Emmy's eyebrows furrowed at how River was acting, she was acting like she was a stranger.

"You're moving out?" Emmy followed River into her bedroom, watching as River packed some things into a bag "yup" River answered "so we have a fight and you decide that your just going to leave" Emmy a scoffed "pretty much" River went to leave with the bag of everything she wanted to take.

As River went to leave Emmy so on grabbed her shirt so she couldn't, River sighed and turned around to look at her "are you seriously moving out because we had a fight?" Emmy asked again "no. believe it or not. I'm moving out because of a different reason, which doesn't concern you at all" River snapped "is it because of her" Emmy asked.

River said nothing and turned around, going to leave again "ok wait! wait! please..." Emmy begged, River debated what to do. Deciding to just listen to what Emmy had to say "I know that you hate me for not telling you about Powder being alive. I don't know why I did it... I guess i was just being selfish, but... please don't be mad at casp, as soon as he found out she was still alive he ran to tell you but stopped him."

"I convinced him not to tell you because i thought that maybe you would be better if you could move on from her. But then you didn't, and... i didn't want to tell you because i knew you'd hate me. And that's fine... just please talk to Caspian. He really misses
you." Emmy pleaded.

River thought for a moment "ok" she whispered "will you ever forgive me?" Emmy asked quietly "i don't know... i just need time, ok?" River told her "ok"

"i'm really sorry River" "I know, Emmy"
