JINX

"Powder?"

Jinx stared up at River. She blinked repeatedly to see if she was seeing right. No she wasn't, it was just another hallucination. This had happened before. Each time it felt more and more real. Jinx was unmoving, she watched as River shot up and stood back. Her chest moving up and down rapidly. She was at loss for words.

"River?" Jinx whispered, she stood up from the ground and backed into the wall. Almost as if she was scared of River. Tears stung River's eyes, she took a slow step forward, then another one, then another one. She kept on walking until she was stood in front of Powder.

She exhaled shakily and brought her hand up to Powder's face. Jinx was staring at her in a daze. She couldn't believe her eyes, she was sure it was a hallucination.

River's thumb rubbed Powder's cheek. She dropped her hand and took a step back. Jinx blinked at her before jumping at her. Her arms swung around River's neck, her head resting in the crook of her neck. She instantly started sobbing.

River's arms hung by her sides before she realised what was going on, she knelt down closer to Jinx's height and wrapped her arms around her waist tightly. Tears shed out of her eyes when she realised that Powder was in front of her, this was her.

The two stood there, in each other's embrace. Their breaths were erratic and they were both crying. Jinx pulled back to look at River, her cheeks were tear struck and her eyes were red and puffy. She brought two shaky hands up to her face, she cupped Rivers cheeks "are you real?"

River looked at her with a saddened look before she smiled comfortingly at her, she held Powder's hands and her thumb rubbed them softly. "i'm real, i'm real. I'm right here with you Powder" River reassuringly whispered.

Normally hearing someone call her Powder would get a reaction, it would scare her, in a way. But hearing it come from River, made her miss it, it made her miss being Powder, miss being the person River loved. Because what if River wouldn't love Jinx. Because she knew for certain, there was nothing River could've done, that would make her stop, loving her.

River wiped Powder's tears away, "h-how? how are you here?" she shook her head in confusion, River took a deep breath "I don't know, the last thing i remember from that night is you, and then i was waking up in a random room, there was no one with me" River explained vaguely.

"I-I could've saved you... you- you weren't dead and i... I just left you!" Jinx exclaimed, she was so ashamed of herself. Everything she was telling herself all those years, everything Mylo was telling her. It was all true. She just left her.

"Powder, Powder" River whispered, she knelt down so her face was in line with Powder's. She cupped her face gently "there was nothing you could've done, Bluey. You didn't know... I was ready to die that day, and... I don't know how i'm still here... but the last thing i want, is for you to blame yourself over something that you had no control over ok?" Powder looked at her with tears in her eyes, she cocked her head and sniffled.

She looked down to the floor, as an another tear fell from her eye. She slowly looked back up at River. She simply stared at River, it was surreal. River was in front of her. And she was real.

Powder admired her, River still had that same scar across her jaw. Jinx gently rubbed her thumb over it. She had more freckles than she had before, there was some scattered on the tips of her ears and her forehead. Her hair was still short but almost looked more light. The tip of her nose was red and her cheeks as well.

She put her arms around River again, pushing her body as close as she could get to River. She nuzzled her nose into Rivers shoulder. She held onto her so tight like she would disappear at any moment.

River kept on holding Powder until she wanted to let go. Truthfully, River never wanted to let go of her. She'd just got her back. Her heart was full. Her chest was blooming with happiness, her mind was quite. It was as if nothing else mattered in the world. There pasts were behind them, anything they'd done, there sins. It didn't matter. Because they were with each other. What was more important than that?

"Come with me... To my hideout... Please" Powder looked up at River with big eyes. River chuckled "how could I say no?" she narrowed her eyes. Jinx smiled brightly she took river arm and basically cuddled it as they walked.

Jinx watched as River walked around, she was picking at her nails nervously. She didn't know why she was nervous. Was it because of River?

"This is cool" River commented, Jinx nodded her head and rocked back and forth on her feet. River noticed this and walked up to her.
She cocked her head and stared at Powder with a solemn look on her face "i can't believe you're here... I never thought i'd see you again." River whispered, her pinky reaching out to old Powder's.

Jinx looked at their hands with a small smile before she interlocked their fingers. She noticed River's bracelet and brought their hands up closer. With her other hand her finger gently grazed the leather.

"You still have it" Jinx whispered in somewhat surprise. River smiled, rubbed the back of her hand against Powder's cheek before dropping her hand again. "I'm scared" Jinx whispered with a frown on her face. River squeezed her hand and caressed her hand with the pad of her thumb.

"I'm scared for you to see the type of person i've turned into. I'm scared that you're gonna leave once you realise that i'm not the same anymore... I've done so much messed up stuff-" River cut Jinx off by placing her hand on her shoulder.

"Me too, Bluey. I've done some really fucked up stuff and i'm terrified that you're not going to see me the same. But... I promise you that I would never leave you because of some things you have done. Or who've you've turned into. I didn't expect you to be exactly the same now as you were when you were 11." River confessed softly.

"I would never turn on you River. I would never. Not after i just got you back." Jinx paused for a moment "I love you."

River's eyes stung with tears, she smiled shakily and instantly brought Powder into a hug. She wrapped her arms around Powder's waist and rested her head on her shoulder. "I love you too" River squeezed her a tad bit tighter. Jinx smiled brightly and held on tight
