RIVER

River was in a state of disbelief of the scene before her, Her parents and brother all on the floor, limp, River's lip quivering and her lungs closing in on themselves. River ran to her still alive brother and dropped to her knees. Rio had blood pouring out of his stomach in three spots.

River tried to cover all the gunshot wounds but was only met with thick, hot gushing blood. Rio's eyes slowly looked up to River, he blinked repeatedly, trying to get his eyes to focus on his younger sister for a least a fleeting moment, all he wanted was one look so he could feel at peace with the image of his sister in his head as he slipped away at a agonisingly slow speed.

"I love you" Rio tried to say, though it came out as a breathy whisper that was almost impossible to hear. Rio mustered up one last smile and started to lift his hand to touch Rivera's cheek, before Rio's hand met her teary skin, all life was drained from his eyes and his arm dropped to his side.

River so badly wanted to say I love you back, but it was to late now and her voice was so painfully raw that one sound that left her mouth it felt like her throat was being shredded away and held on by a string. River's tears started to flow more than ever.

River went to claw at her throat as less and less air was entering her air ways but instead was met with blood dripping from her hands, River dropped her head to Rio's chest, trying to form some kind of comfort, She screamed into his chest, saliva, tears and blood all mixing into one.

Rio's blood started to seep into Rivers almost white hair, her hair that Rio always loved to play with, her hair that was now caked in blood. Everything hit River all at once, she was completely and utterly alone in the world. She had no one to protect her. But the most heartbreaking realisation, her brother, her best friend, was gone. And he wasn't coming back.

River was completely unaware of the heavy foot steps approaching her until she felt an arm gently pull her away from her brothers cold, lifeless body. River couldn't see through her tears but she could hear a soothing, Australian voice.

"you'll be alright Kiddo .... I'll take care of you .... your safe now, little one"

River didn't know why, but she trusted him, she trusted that he was going to protect her, and honestly, River was to tired and worn out that she didn't completely care what happened to her. She didn't care what her outcome was anymore. She had no desire to live or protect herself.

So River let herself be scooped up into large arms and she rested her head against his chest, her exhaustion quickly caught up with her, and she passed out in a deep sleep.

Vander looked down at the young girl with a frown on his face, when he saw her wailing over a dead body he knew instantly that he had to take her in. It's what he did. He already had taken in four other children that had been in upsettingly similar circumstances to her.

Innocent children who had their life's torn away from them all within a measly hour. All because of enforcers.

The journey was short, but once Vander entered the last drop he quickly moved down into the basement where the four other children were. A girl with pink hair sitting on the couch with an amused look on her face as she watched two boys fighting, with a little girl with beautiful blue hair, tucked away in her side.

When the four heard the recognisable steps of Vander they all paid attention to him and were met with shock to see a girl covered in blood that was fast asleep. Vander walked into one of the bedrooms and carefully set her down on the bottom bunk before tucking her under the thin, worn out blanket.

All the kids were impatiently waiting for an explanation "I found her in a horrible situation" Vander vaguely told them "what?" Vi asked him, Vander sighed "I had to take her in, just like I had to do with the rest of ya" Vander told them. It was clear that he wasn't going to explain further so they all sat back down with annoyed expressions on their faces.

"what's her name" Mylo asked Vander, "i'm not sure... Just let her rest, then we can find out more later alright?" Vander said, earning nods and mumbles in return.

They had to know who that girl was.

AUTHORS NOTE

New bookkk :))

hopefully I will finish timing before I finish this book, fingers crossed ๐Ÿคž
Butt knowing me i'm going to write 20 something chapters of this book then abandon it!

And the reason for not of published new chapters for Timing, I found that whenever i'm writing a story and it gets to the part where I need to base it off the dialogue of the show/movie.
It gets really hard for me to write.
I've started writing another chapter though!

much love x
