Mami sat on her bed finally giving a few touches up to her makeup before going to her restaurant.

She heard a knock on the door and asked the person to enter without looking up.

And when she finally did, she rolled her eyes seeing Payal standing in the room.

"What do you want? " She asked rudely and Payal nervously handed a paper to her and she frown but read it.

After reading it, she stared Payal up and down and stood up and wore her slippers throwing the paper away.

Payal nodded down hurt as Mami took her bag and was about to walk out but Payal held her hand.

One glare from Mami made her release her hold.

"Maaji please give me a chance..... You know I am a good cook and when Akash told me of the vacancy for head chef, I had to apply...... I always feel suffocated sitting home all day...... I want to be like you..... Even when you are married into the Raizada family, you secretly made a name for yourself with all the restaurants all over that city...... Please maaji..... Give me a chance. " Payal begged and Mami looked at her and shook her head.

"I am not a ladder you can use to climb up to success....... I started my business on my own with my own money and I hate nepotism which you want me to do just because you married my son..... The family may think you are innocent but I know you are no different from Sonia and my family members...... A bunch of gold diggers....... I will never employ you not because I dislike you but you can't meet the pressure at the restaurant...... Look how long it takes for you to prepare simple dishes in this house even when Prakash and his brothers are helping you and you think you can handle the rush hours at my restaurant. " Mami scoffed at her and she looked down with tears in her eyes.

She rolled her eyes and walked out leaving Payal behind.

"I know if it had been Khushi, you wouldn't have hesitated..... The bitch is out of my life and yet always around because of the fool in the form of Arnav who hasn't forgotten her and you always bringing her up in every conversation...... I have had enough of you and now you will face my wrath soon..... You just wait and watch. " Payal thought with an angry look on her face as she composed herself and walked out to the dining table.

Akash looked at her and she shook her head no indicating his mother didn't give her the position.

"Hello hi bye bye...... I have to go to interview the new chef. " Mami revealed as she sat down at the dinner table beside her husband.

"I hope she will be good as Kamala. " Nani said as she broke a piece of her bread and chewed it.

"She is Kamala's choice so I don't doubt it but I still have to meet her to make sure she is up to the standard I want. " Mami replied and sipped her juice.

"Manu the businesswoman. " Manohar teased her and everyone smiled and she blushed at his compliment.

"Anju..... When is Damadji coming home? " Nani asked looking at Anjali who smiled widely.

"He is coming tonight. " She replied enthusiastically with a huge smile on her face.

"Hello hi bye bye...... I hope he doesn't stay for only a day and run off again only for us to see him in a month. " Mami taunted and Manohar shook his head and the smile on Anjali's face dropped.

"Mami, he is doing all that for me..... He wants to give me the best life but you are always criticizing and taunting him. " Anjali defended almost on the verge of crying.

"Hello hi bye bye...... I am just looking out for you...... It's been over eight years since you two have been married and he told us in his first year he is building a house for you and we haven't seen it...... Never knew lawyers travelled that often until I met him...... Look at Mr Roy... He is an international lawyer who doesn't even travel the way your husband does..... I don't criticize him because it's fun..... I just want to stop all the taunts and name-calling behind his back..... Everyone calls him Ghar jamai for leaving with us...... Please think Nani is a hypocrite for always teaching others about morals and traditions and you are still leaving in your family house after eight years of being married..... I love you Anjali and you know it...... When he comes home, I want to speak to him. " Mami said and stood up.

Everyone knew she was telling the truth so no one interfered to defend Anjali or Shyam.

Arnav wiped his mouth and stood up and so did Anjali.

"Anju..... Are you going somewhere? " Nani asked seeing HP handing a bag to her.

"Yes... I am meeting a friend. " She replied and Nani nodded.

Arnav moved closer to Anjali making her confused especially seeing him lose her necklace but the confusion changed to a smiles as Arnav pulled out a diamond and emerald necklace and fasten it around her neck.

"A gift for you. " Arnav smiled and Anjali thanked him.

"Chote..... I love it..... Thank you so much. "

Anjali then said goodbye and walked out.

Mami asked Arnav to drop her off and Arnav knew she was going to scold him for what he did.

Immediately they got into the care Mami had this scowl on her face as Arnav drove towards her restaurant.

"Mami I know you are mad at me but please stop giving me this silent treatment...... I promise to tell you the reason why I gave her that necklace tonight okay. " Arnav said and Mami looked at him suspiciously and nodded.

They both drove in silence and within twenty minutes, they both arrived at the restaurant and parked in front of it.

Arnav placed his hand on his heart hearing it beat rapidly like it did when Khushi was around.

Mami who was taking off her seat belt looked at him concerned.

"Chiku are you okay? " She asked and Arnav turned to her.

"It felt like I felt Khushi's presence...... My heart away beat fast but rejuvenating when she is around and thus hasn't happened to me in years but I don't know why it's happening now especially when I know she is in Mumbai. " Arnav replied and Mami sighed and cupped his face.

"It's because you are missing her and nothing more...... Maybe isn't because of our conversation. "

"You are right mami....... It's because of that. "

Mami got done and bid him goodbye as he drove out of the premises.

"All this won't happen if you hadn't said all those harsh words to her....... I know I am bad for always wishing Khushi's marriage doesn't work so that I can help you get her back but I know it's impossible. " Mami thought and entered the premise only to pump into a beautiful little girl who fell on her bottom because of the impact.

Mami helped her up and smiled at the cute adorable girl in front of her and she also smiled back.

"Sorry, Aunty. " She apologized adorably and Mami kneeled to her level.

"Don't be... It was just an accident. " Mami said holding her hand and she smiled at her but that smile dropped when she saw a familiar birthmark on her arm.

It looked just like Arnav's birthmark in the same spot and shape.

"Manu stop, a lot of people are born with birthmarks and I believe Khushi is the only one Arnav says he has done it with. " Mami scolded herself for thinking she could be Arnav's child.

"Anaisha." Mami heard a familiar voice and looked up to find Kamala her chef walking up to them. "I told you to stay put. " she scolded the little girl who held her ears.

"Sorry, aunty..... It won't happen again. "

She apologized and Kamala and Mami smiled at her.

"I am sorry Mrs Raizada...... She is the daughter of the new chef...... I asked her to prepare some food for you to taste so she left her with me...... I just went to the washroom to ease myself only for her to vanish. " Kamala explained and Mami nodded and bend down.

"Nice to me you Anaisha. " Mami said stretching her hands to her and she shook it.

"Nice to meet you too Mrs Waizada. "

Mami laughed and kissed her cheek and then walked towards the kitchen.

She saw a variety of meals displayed on the table and was pleased with the presentation.

This was enough to make her hire the chef.

"Where is the new chef? " She asked one of her workers and pointed to someone behind her.

She turned and was shocked to see the person behind her.

"Khushi? " She exclaimed with shock seeing the love of her nephew's life.

"Mami? " She also exclaimed in shock and Mami rushed up to her and hugged her.

She was shocked for a moment but reciprocated.

After a few seconds, a crying Mami broke the hug and kissed her all over her face and it shocked the workers.

"You left us years ago and I never thought I will meet you again but God brought you here as my chef. " Mami said enthusiastically shocking Khushi who never knew she owned such a renowned restaurant.

"I thought you were a housewife," Khushi exclaimed and Mami hit her arms playfully.

"I am a housewife and businesswoman...... I never wanted anyone to know about my restaurant because I am surrounded by leeches who will want everything for free...... Only my workers and family know I own this place and all the other restaurants...... Come to my office and let's talk. " Mami said dragging her towards her office but she stopped.

"Mami... What about the food I prepared...... Won't you taste them? " She asked and Mami shook her head.

"Are you forgetting I have already tasted your food before...... I don't need to taste this because I know it's amazing. "

Khushi smiled and followed her to her office and they both spoke and agreed on the pay and position including roles she will play at the restaurant.

After they were done Mami couldn't resist confirming what Kamala had told her.

"Khushi, how long have you been divorced from your husband? " She asked taking Khushi aback and she revealed what Kamala has told her.

"It's been two years. " She replied and Mami was shocked but deep down she was happy to hear this.

"And that adorable little cutie pie is your daughter. " Mami asked praying for her suspicion to be true.

"Yes, she is my daughter with my ex-husband. " Khushi replied nervously.

"Hey, Devi Maiya..... Thank you so much...... Anaisha is my granddaughter and Arnav's child...... Khushi, I know you are lying to protect her and I will go along with your lie for now. " Mami thought looking at a nervous Khushi who was praying Mami believed her unfortunately for her, Mami knew what she was thinking.

"She is so adorable...... Unfortunately, it's your ex-husband's loss that you left him and I know it's his fault...... You and Anaisha deserve better....... So when will you be able to start? " Mami asked and Khushi replied in three days because she has to find a good school for Anaisha. "Leave that to me...... I have a friend who owns one of the best schools in Delhi and as a chef of the restaurant you will have your daughter's fees paid by us and you can't deny it because Kamala's grandkids also enjoy the same privilege which is for all my chefs here and at the other restaurants. " Mami said and Khushi nodded with tears in her eyes.

Mami handed her a tissue to wipe her tears.

"Thank you so much, Mami..... I will do my best to make this restaurant flourish more than it already has but please don't let anyone know I am in Delhi left alone work for you...... I don't want to see any of them. " Khushi said looking at Mami who nodded. "You think I am a bad person because I don't want to meet my family. "

Mami shook her head and stood up.

"I would have done the same of the blackmailed me into marrying a man I barely know and got me engaged to a man who was already married. " Mami said and Khushi stood up in shock hearing this.

"How did Mami and the Raizadas know about Shyam and the blackmail. " Khushi thought looking at Mami.
