phoebe doe was never one to fall for her best friend, most importantly her brother's best friend, matt sturniolo.

it seemed like all her life phoebe has looked to matt like another brother, as she did the rest of the triplets. there was always this unexplainable, deep rooted, feeling she had towards the middle one specifically.

this probably stemmed from the fact that he had always been the one who made sure she was treated fairly all thoughout their younger years. it wasn't always the easiest being the only girl growing up with that many boys. being the obvious odd one out, she was always the first one they'd choose to pick on. matt would occasionally give up his turn for her when the others wouldn't share, pick her first to be on his team for kickball when no one wanted a girl on their team, and be her designated ride buddy at carnivals.

the other boys used to make fun of him for having a crush on her because he was always so nice to her. but he really didn't want to be mean to her like they were sometimes. so if that meant he had a crush on her in their eyes, then so be it.

phoebe, on the other hand, had a few real crushes on him here and there over their multiple years of friendship, but they never lasted too long. always worried about what her brother would think helped her get over it every time.

but now, she's acquiring those feelings once again, and they're starting to scare her because she's afraid her brother cannot help her this time.
