xi. my little brother

Freya was in the cafeteria for breakfast. Juliet was sick today, so she was by herself at the moment. Chase and Adam walked in and went in line for their food and she went up to them.

"Heya, boys," she greeted them and they turned to her. Adam was looking for Juliet and he frowned when he didn't see her.

"Hey. Uh, where's Juliet?" He asked and Freya grinned at him.

"Aww, is someone sad because his crush isn't here?" Freya teased and Chase chuckled.

Adam's face turned red and he rolled his eyes. "Not funny."

"It kinda is," Freya smiled, before walking back to her seat. Adam and Chase got their food and walked to her table.

Chase grabbed a chair and it was wobbly. He sighed. "Man, I always get stuck with the wobbly chair."

"Here, let me fix it. Hold my tray." Adam offered and gave Chase his tray.

Adam accidentally rips the back of the chair off with his super strength and dropped it on the table.

"Oh dang," Freya blinked in shock. "That's very wobbly."

"Adam!" Chase cursed and looked at the other students with a smile. "Budget cuts, am I right?The evidence is all around us, people." Freya raised her eyebrows in confusion and stood up next to Chase. "You maxed out your super strength, didn't you?"

"He what?" Freya asked in confusion.

"I was recalibrating his chip and he must of messed with it when I left," Chase told her, glaring at Adam.

"Of course I did, look who you're talking to." Adam chuckled and Freya shrugged.

"That's Adam." She nodded, picking up her toast and eating it.

"This is so dangerous. You can't control your strength, and it could cause a ton of glitches. We have to change you back, now!" Chase objected.

"Calm down, you're overreacting." Adam assured him.

Adam sets his tray on the table, and the whole table collapses with the chairs breaking. Freya jumped back, gently holding Chase's arm. All the students gasped, leaning back in shock.

"Glad I stood up," Freya mentioned and Chase nodded as he stared at Adam in shock.

"Okay, you can dial me down to a 9." Adam told him.

Freya went to the lab with Chase and Adam to fix Adam's strength. She sat on the cyber desk as Adam was fixing the door on his capsule that he broke before.

"I can't believe you maxed out your strength after I specifically told you not to." Chase said as he walked over to the control panel for the capsules.

"In my defense, you telling me what to do is like a monkey telling a hedgehog what to do-- It's ridiculous." Adam shrugged and Freya rolled her eyes at his logical. "But it would make an awesome buddy cop movie."

"Can we just please get this over with? I gotta get back to school. It's karaoke day in my Latin class and I'm singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star." Chase informed and started to sing in Latin. "Scintillat scintallat paulo stella."

Freya furrowed her eyebrows at him. "The fact that you find that fun says a lot."

"Yeah, you do know you're never gonna have a girlfriend, right?" Adam asked and Freya laughed.

"Yeah? And yours is gonna have to cut your food, so we're even." Chase reasoned and Freya laughed again. "Get in your capsule."

Adam gets in his capsule and Chase works on the console.

"All right, reducing super strength in 3, 2, 1..." Chase said and pressed on finally button which made a bright light flash a couple of times in Adam's capsule. "All right, we should probably test it out to make sure that you're back to normal. Come here."

Adam and Chase walk over to metal container made of ultra-strength titanium. Freya hoped off the cyber desk and followed them.

"This is made out of ultra-strength titanium. Think you can break it?" Chase asked Adam.

"Sure, stand still while I smash it over your head." Adam remarked and Freya chuckled.

"No, with your hand." Chase told him.

"Not as fun, but okay." Adam shrugged. Adam hits the container twice, and it doesn't break. He groaned. "Ugh! I'm back to normal. Now I'm only a hundred times stronger than you." He sighed. "I guess I'm gonna have to hit you more often to make up for it."

"Yes I agree." Freya nodded, earning a glare from Chase.

"You really don't have to." Chase shook his head.

"Oh, that's sweet, but I really do." Adam said, putting a hand on his shoulder.

No, you don't." Chase said and started to walk away.

Adam followed him. "Yes, I do."

"No, you don't." Chase started to walk faster.

"Come here." Adam said, following him faster.

Chase started to run and Adam chased him. "Stop. Get away. Don't touch me. Don't-- Get away, get away. No, no!"

Adam tackles him to the floor and Chase yells. Freya laughed, watching all of it and smirked.

"I love this."

~Mission Creek High~

Freya, Chase, and Adam walked back to school and Adam's clothes were becoming baggy on him.

Hey, Chase, when you zapped me, I think you took a little bit of weight off." Adam mentioned, noticing how baggy his shirt was. Freya turned to Adam and noticed the odd bagginess of his shirt.

"Odd." She said.

"Adam, that's impossible. It doesn't work like that." Chase objected, walking over to the water fountain. "The re-calibration adjusts the ratio of your muscle mass to your body frame and, who am I kidding? You stopped listening five seconds ago, right?" Chase asked and Freya was now looking at a two inch tall Adam in shock. "Adam? Adam?"

"Uh, Chase?" Freya turned Chase to Adam, who was standing in own shoe and naked.

Adam waved, speaking in a high pitched voice. "I'm down here!"

Chase looks down and sees a pile of clothes on the floor and the tiny version of Adam that Freya saw.

"Told you I was losing weight." Adam said. Chase stared at Adam in horror.

"What's your secret?" Freya asked him.

"Chase, what's going on?" Freya asked. Both her and Chase were lying in the floor, talking to Tiny Adam.

"I-- I, I guess I was in such a rush to re-calibrate your chip, I accidentally forgot to enter the size parameters, which caused a glitch and--"

"I'm two inches and naked! Do something!" Adam exclaimed and Freya snickered.

"I'm sorry. But I can't take you seriously." Freya laughed and poked Adam, who backed away.

"Hey!" He called and she chuckled. Chase grinned and poked Adam, who groaned. "Stop! It's not funny!"

"It kind of is," Chase smiled.

Adam is now in Chase's locker, wearing a purple ninja outfit.

"Really, guys? A purple ninja outfit?" Adam asked. "You know purple's not my color!"

"It was from the lost and found. There were only two action figures, this and power girl." Chase explained.

Freya chuckled. "And you do not have the legs to work that skirt."

Adam frowned. "Just hurry up and fix this! I can't stand being smaller than you. Especially Freya, it's just adds to the pain."

"You know, I've been smaller than you for my entire life. Now you know what it's like." Chase told him. "Do you remember all the names you called me?"

"Not all of 'em, but I remember there was Tinypants McGoo, Microman, Tiny Boy, Ant Boy, Eency Meency Little Woman." Adam named off and laughs with Freya laughing as well.

"Those are good!" She remarked.

Chase pinched Freya's elbow and then takes a smaller container from his locker and places it over Adam.

"Hey! Whoa, hey! Why is it dark? What's going on? Let me out!" Adam called.

Chase and Freya smile as she removes the container.

"Hey, what'd you do that for?" Adam asked.

"I wanted you to see what it's like to be picked on by someone larger than you." Chase told him and Freya grinned. "But, since I'm a nice guy, now I'll take you home to fix you."

"Thank you, Chase. That's really big of you. And I don't get to say that very often." Adam chuckled.

"You just can't stop yourself, can you?" Chase asked.

I'll try. Um, you're huge..." Adam tried to stop, but couldn't handle it. "-ly small. Nope, can't do it."

Freya put her arm on Chase's shoulder, having an idea. "You know what? Forget home, Chase. Why don't we have a little fun?"

Chase grinned at her. "I agree."

"No, no, no, no. No! No!" Adam cried out, trying  to run, but Chase picks Adam up.

Chase held Adam to Freya's face, who smirked. "You know that new tarantula in the science lab?"

"Oh, yeah, Harvey! He's great." Adam smiled.

Chase understood what Freya as doing. "Well, let's see how great he is when he gets a surprise visit from a tiny, purple ninja."

Freya laughed as Adam started to yell.

"No!" Chase put Adam in his pocket and Chase and Freya walked away, high fiving in the process.

Later Chase and Adam were at the water fountain, still messing with Adam.

"All right, Adam, time for a water fountain jerk bath." Chase reaches in pocket, but didn't find Adam. "Adam? Adam? Oh, no! Adam? Adam?"

Freya stood there, looking around for Adam.

"Adam?" She quietly called.

Chase starts fumbling around and shaking his legs trying to find Adam, while two girls pass by and stare at him. Freya looks at them and folded her arms.

Chase laughs awkwardly. "New internet dance craze. Look it up!"

"Where's Adam?" Freya grabbed Chase's arm, roughly.

Chase pulled his arm free. "He must have fallen out!"

Leo walks in and the two notice him.

"Leo!" The two gasp, getting his attention.

"Sup?" Leo said.

"We need your help. I accidentally shrunk Adam and he is gone!" Chase informed.

"I got your backs. You were with me. We were kayaking. No questions asked." Leo explained and Freya rolled her eyes.

"No! He was in Chase's pocket but he fell out. We lost him!" Freya protested.

"They'll never buy it. Stick to the kayak." Leo told them and Freya hit his arm.

"Stop that."

"We don't know where he is. He could be anywhere!" Chase said nervously.

"Literally. He is two inches tall." Freya mentioned.

Adam is now seen standing on the circular bench, waving frantically to Chase, Freya, and Leo.

"Chase! Freya! Leo! I'm over here! Over here!" Adam called.

A girl goes to sit down on the bench and Adam screams. "Aah! Incoming butt!" He rolls out of the way. "Ha! No one can defeat the butt-ninja!

A boy goes to sit down.

"Hey, I have those jeans." Adam pointed to the butt before noticing he was about to sit on him. "No, don't sit down, don't sit down!"

Adam jumps off the bench and into the girl's bag. Leo notices this and taps Chase and Freya's arms with wide eyes.

"Chase, Freya, I think I just saw a little, purple ninja dive into that book bag." Leo pointed. "And there's something I'll never say again."

"Go, go!" Chase pushed them toward the bag, but the girl stood up and grabbed her bag. She started walking into the cafeteria and the three chase her in there. Chase manages to grab her bag from her and starts searching it. The girl frowned at them in confusion and aggravation.

Freya spoke to her, putting a hand on her shoulder. "Sorry, ma'am. Random bag search."There's been a rash of crouton theft as the salad bar."

"We're not saying it's you, but we're all thinkin' it." Leo added and Freya nodded.

Chase searched the whole bag, until he picked up Adam. "A-ha! I got him!"

"Yes," Freya smiled.

"You got him?" Leo asked. The three attempt to sneak off, but bump into Perry.

"Dude! You almost spilled my third lunch." Perry rudely replied.

"Right. Sorry." Chase apologized and they moved away from her.

Chase opens his hands to find that Adam isn't there anymore. Leo points and Adam is sitting on Perry's burger.

The three stared in horror at the sight.

"Oh, wow, gigantic food. It's so beautiful. Ooh, pickles." Adam gasped at his surroundings of giant food and tried to crawl toward the pickles.

Perry puts the bun on her burger, trapping Adam and Freya yelped quietly.

"I don't think this is how Adam wants to go," Freya said in fright.

"Adam, get out of there!" Chase softly called.

Perry raises the burger, while Adam screams, and Chase runs over and tries to wrestle the burger out of her hands

Perry glared at him. "Braver men than you have tried to take my food before. They ain't men now."

Chase grabs the burger from her. "I won't let you eat my brother!"

Perry scoffed. "You vegetarians make me sick. It's a turkey, not your brother! Now give me back that bird, hippie!"

Perry tries to get the burger back and they start to fight, while Leo and Freya moved back.

"No! No!" Chase yelled.

"This is entertaining," Freya snickered and Leo nodded.

Bree walks in and pointed at Perry in a demanding way. "Drop the burger, Terry!"

"How about I drop you, girlie?" Perry threatened, letting go of Chase.

"Hmm, I had a feeling you might say that. Which is why I brought in the big guns." Bree smirked.

Perry's mom storms in angrily. Freya covered her mouth, gasping.

"Theresa!" Mother Perry.

Perry swallows hard getting nervous. "Mother?What are you doing here?"

"This lovely young lady called me and said you were causing trouble." Mother Perry explained. "What did I tell you about wrestling for food?"

Perry shut her eyes, cringing. "That if you're gonna do it, you better win?"

Mother Perry grabbed the burger from Perry. "Don't you sass your momma!"

"Sorry, mother." Perry apologized.

Chase tries to grab the burger, but Mother Perry smacks him away.

"Hands off, troll!" Mother Perry snapped and sighed. "I apologize for her causing so much trouble."

"She's not really the principal!" Perry pointed at Bree.

"And you're not really a child, so stop acting like one!" Mother Perry ordered Perry, who grunted like child. "Theresa, what do you say to Principal Bree?"

Perry let out a pro-longed groan. "...Sorry."

"Big girl voice!" Mother Perry yelled.

"Sorry!" Perry groaned in a louder voice.

Mother Perry turned to Bree. "I'm going to take her home and give her a good talking to."

Freya chuckled as Bree smiled. "Mm, I think that's a great idea."

Perry's mom grabs Perry by the ear and the burger and Perry whined and complained.

"No, momma, no, no, no, momma! No, no! Mother Perry dragged Perry out and threw the burger in the trash. "Hey, hey, hey!"

Chase, Frey, and Leo let out a yell. "AH!"

Chase, Freya, and Leo run over to the trash can and a lunch lady pours leftover food into it just as they get there.

"Thanks a lot, Ruthie." Freya sarcastically said and Ruthie rolled her eyes in return.

Chase and Leo pick up the trash can as Freya backed away, letting them carry it. The three stared at the students, watching in disgust.

"I lost my retainer." Chase and Leo simultaneously said and Freya raised her eyebrows at them. The boys awkwardly laugh and carry the trash can out of the room with a Freya following them.

~The Lab~

Chase and Leo are digging through the trash, trying to find Adam. Freya was watching them, while sitting on the cyber desk.

"You know, you could help?" Chase asked Freya.

"I'm supervising." Freya told him. "Gotta make sure you don't accidentally toss Adam."

Chase frowned at her and she just smiled back.

"Got him!" Leo said, holding a celery stick. "Oh, wait, no, that's a celery stick."

"Ah, got him!" Leo said again, but picked up a chicken bone. "Wait, no, that's a chicken bone."

Chase found Adam and picked him up. "Ooh, I found him!"

Chase runs over and places Adam inside the capsule as Leo brushes the excess slop off his hands. Freya hops off the desk and cover to the console.

"He was curled up inside a burrito." Chase shrugged and Freya scrunched up her face in disgust.

Freya hands the boys some toed and Chase and Leo wipe their hands off.

Chase goes up to the console and types in information. "Uh, Adam size parameters, 6'1, hundred and seventy-five-pounds. Strength level, six. Clothing-- Yes, please."

Chase finished the typing and presses a button, which makes a light flash in Adam's capsule and Adam returns to his normal size.

Adam opened his capsule and walks out. "Whoa! Chase, I just had the most awesome dream! I was a tiny ninja in a land of butt giants."

"No, Adam, that wasn't a dream. I made mistake and shrunk you." Chase admitted.

"Thats right! And I had nothing to do with it." Leo pointed out. "For once, Leo's part of the solution to a problem he didn't create! Yes!" Leo cheered as he walked out of the lab.

"Wow, I think I finally understand what it feels like to be the smaller brother." Adam said and Chase sighs happily.

Freya smiled. She understand Chase due to being the younger sister. However, she doesn't get picked on as much as Chase does.

"Finally! So does this mean that you're not gonna make short jokes at my expense anymore?" Chase asked with hope and Freya knew the answer.

"I'm sorry, can you speak up? I can't hear you down there." Adam joked and Freya chuckled.

"You just cannot help yourself, can you?" Chase asked with annoyance. "You never tease Freya."

"If he does, I'll break his legs." Freya kindly smiled.

"I did once and she left a giant bruise on my shin for a week," Adam mentioned and sighed. "I've learned."

"And you better not do it." Freya warned Chase. "You may be taller. But I will break you."

Chase put his hands up, letting out a nervous chuckle. His cheeks turning a light shade of pink.

Adam groaned an let out a sigh to Chase. "Look, I don't think you're that small. And for turning me back to normal, I got you a gift. Okay, close your eyes." Chase closed his eyes and Adam holds up tiny ninja costume, which made Freya chuckle behind her hand. "Open 'em." Chase opens his eyes to see the ninja costume: "It's a tiny ninja costume! Oh, don't worry about the size. You'll grow into it." Adam puts the costume on his shoulder and walks away.

Freya snickered and Chase looks at her. "You're lucky he doesn't pick on you, because he easily could. You're what? 5 feet?"

"I'm 5'1, thank you." She corrected. "As someone who grew up short, I don't pick on someone else who is short. You aren't that short. Especially compared to me. That's why I helped you pick on Adam. Because I know how it feels."

"What about Leo?" He asked.

"Leo is Leo." Freya simple said and Chase nodded. "Also it's a natural sibling thing. Juliet is the tall one and I'm the short one. In some way, we can relate to being the smaller sibling."

"Thanks, Freya. And I won't make anymore short jokes," Chase smiled and Freya grinned with her cheeks turning pink.

"Good. Because if you do, I'll break your legs." She threatened and patted his arm before walking out.

Chase stared at her as she walked out and stammered her his words quietly. Once she was gone, he let out a groan with his cheeks bright red.

"What is happening to me?"
