Armed and Dangerous
xxviii. armed and dangerous

Freya was at home, getting ready to go to school. Juliet was resting in bed for the next week or two. She was healing perfectly fine, but couldn't go to school until after her doctor gives the approval.
Freya forgot to charge her phone and she nonchalantly started to charge it with her electrokinesis by sticking her finger near the port.
"Hey!"
Freya yelped, dropping her phone and Cassandra folded her arms, giving her a warning look.
"What have I said about using your bionics?" Cassandra asked as Freya picked up her phone.
"Only to use them in necessary situations. I need to charge my phone. If it died and I got hurt, it would be wrong of me to not charge it." Freya reasoned.
"Than maybe charge your phone and don't stay up till 4 am watching Criminal Minds." Cassandra advised and Freya scoffed.
"Hello? Have you seen Spencer Reid? Matthew Gray Gubler?" Freya asked with a cheeky grin and then rubbed her neck. "I see why I like Chase so much. Something about hot nerds who save lives."
"Honey, I knew these new abilities are fun to have. But they can be dangerous if used irresponsibly." Cassandra told her daughter. "You are playing with literally lightning. Be careful with it."
"I am mom." Freya rolled her eyes and turned, only to be met with Cinnamon running by her. Freya yelled out, causing her to shoot electricity out of her hands, which made the lights to go out.
"Oops." Freya said and Cassandra sighed.
"I'll go check the electrical box."
"I'll help!" Freya offered.
"No! Get to school!" Cassandra exclaimed.
——
Freya was at school, waiting for the bionic teens to make their big entrance. It was there first day back to school after being announced as the famous bionic superhumans.
Freya is happy they are getting the recognition they deserve for all the good they have done. But she hopes this fame won't get to their head. She expects Adam and maybe Bree, but she doubts Chase would ever allow fame to change him.
Her and Chase just got together. She doesn't want the fame to allow him to forget her.
Graham walked in as students were awaiting for the bionics entrance. Freya sat on the circle bench, finding herself picking at her skin. "Students of Mission Creek, please welcome your bionic super humans!"
Adam, Bree, and Chase walk in the school, and are immediately met with showering praise and camera flashes. Freya smiled lightly as their entrance.
Adam patted Chase's back. "And our trusty little mascot Chase."
Freya didn't approach them as they got surrounded by people asking for pictures and autographs. Crowds weren't her favorite and made her uncomfortable.
Graham spoke to the camera. "Now that I'm in charge of the bionic team, I'm gonna be taking them to a whole new level. Believe me, you're going to be seeing a lot more of us."
"Wow, this is amazing. It's like we're celebrities." Chase smiled.
Graham touched his arm. "We are. And this is just the beginning."
Freya frowned and mumbled to herself. "They are celebrities. Not you."
"I can't believe that people are so shallow, they only like us because we're bionic." Bree scoffed and then laughed. "This is awesome!"
Freya thought Chase would go talk to her, but he was still busy signing autographs and being famous.
Freya didn't notice she had picked at her skin so much, she had started bleeding. Freya quickly went to her locker and grabbed a bandaid. She keeps them in her locker for this specific reason.
She put the bandaid on her finger and the bell rang right as she shut her locker. The students had dispersed and Chase saw Freya, immediately walking up to her.
"Hey." He greeted and kissed her cheek.
"Hi." She greeted back, hiding her finger from him. "Get past the crowd fine?"
"Yeah. It's crazy." Chase smiled and Freya nodded, not really replying. "Um... I didn't see you walk in."
"I was already here when you arrived. You just couldn't see me past all the cameras and fans." Freya awkwardly shrugged, adjusting her bag strap.
"Oh." Chase frowned and noticed Freya hiding her hand. He noticed her entire demeanor was off. "Rey, what's wrong?"
"We are gonna be late for class." Freya walked past Chase, ignoring his question.
"Wait." Chase grabbed her arm and she sighed, stopping.
"We are gonna be late!" Freya complained, turning to him.
"Since when you are worried about being late to class?" Chase asked her.
"I'm always worried." Freya folded her arms, shrugging.
"You ditched class five times last week." Chase remarked.
"Keeping tabs on me for?" Freya frowned.
"Rey, what's wrong?" He asked her, holding her hand.
"Crowds make me nervous, ya know? I was hoping you would come talk to me, but you got a little distracted." Freya confessed and Chase saw her bandage finger.
"Rey..." He sighed, now holding her other hand. "I'm sorry. I got a little excited people finally paying attention to me."
"I always pay attention to you. Isn't that enough?" Freya asked him.
"Yes. Yes of course." Chase told her, squeezing her hands. "You know what I mean."
"You aren't letting the fame get to your head, right?" Freya asked him. "Still the same Chase I know?"
"I'll always be the same Chase. I won't let this fame get to me." Chase assured her and kissed her forehead. "Now, let's get to class."
"Can't we ditch?" Freya whined.
"I wouldn't be Chase if I said yes." Chase grinned and Freya rolled her eyes as they walked to class together.
——
Freya got home from school that day and she immediately went to see her sister. She walked into her room and Juliet was resting with Cinnamon on her lap and watching Criminal Minds.
"Hey." Freya greeted and Juliet gave her a weak smile.
"Hey sis," she greeted back as Freya sat on the edge of her bed. "How was school with the famous bionic people?"
"Everywhere they go they always get swarmed by people. I barely had time to see Chase. He was always busy with fan girls," Freya bitterly remarked, folding her arms.
"Once I'm all healed, im going beat his face up so bad no fan girls will want him." Juliet threatened.
"He told me he wouldn't let the fame get to his head." Freya told her sadly, picking at her skin.
Juliet grabbed her hand, holding it. "Stop that. Do not let some boy make you have anxiety. Chase will realize how stupid he is acting soon enough."
Freya sighed. "I hope so." Freya changed the subject. "Did Adam come by like he said he would?"
"No. He isn't answering his phone. But he's been posting all about the stuff he is doing with Graham." Juliet sneered, shaking her head. "Just when we we getting close, he blows me off. But, I won't let it affect me. Because it's just a boy and they are stupid."
"They are stupid." Freya repeated and the girls sighed, looking at the tv screen Criminal Minds was playing on.
"Spencer Reid is an exception, right?" Freya asked.
Juliet scoffed. "Oh, yeah."
——
~The Next Day~
Freya was waiting for Chase to pick them up for their date. They were going to go mini golfing and than grab dinner, but Chase was late. Every minute that past, Freya's hope decreased and she was getting upset. Chase was never late, for anything. Usually, he shows up early.
Freya sat on the couch, picking at her skin, fighting back her tears. She couldn't believe Chase would do this.
Cassandra walked out and she frowned when she saw Freya there. "Aren't you and Chase supposed to be out right now?"
"No." Freya shook her head, sniffing. "I think he forgot. Because of all the press tour stuff. He isn't answering his phone."
Freya couldn't help the tears streaming down her cheeks and Cassandra walked over to her daughter, immediately hugging her.
"He will realize how stupid he is being. This stupid fame is getting to her head." Cassandra assured her.
"I expected him to not let it get to his head. But I was wrong." Freya shook her head. "Why do guys always do this?"
Cassandra kissed her head. "Chase is smart. It will work itself out."
Freya nodded, sniffing and letting out a sigh. "I hope so."
Freya's phone rang and she immediately looked at it, hoping it was Chase, but it was Davenport.
"Hello?" She answered, sitting up.
"Freya. Adam, Bree, and Chase aren't responding to the mission alert I sent them. I need you to come down and help me with this mission. A cell tower is out of control and I need your help with it. Get down here now."
Davenport hung up and Freya stood up, putting her phone away.
"Davenport needs me-"
"I heard." Cassandra said and brushed her daughters hair. "Go help. Since the real heroes seem to have better things to do."
Freya nodded, before grabbing her jacket and running out of the house.
——
Davenport and Freya returned from their mission, bruised, covered with ashes, and out of breath. Freya was exhausted, she had never experienced a real mission before. Davenport was smart calling Freya, because with her electrokinesis, she as able to stabilize the cell tower from exploding while Davenport worked on fixing the wiring.
Freya struggled a lot and it took time for her to gain control. Due to this, Freya lost control a few times and some people got injured. Her mom was right, having electricity as a superpower is dangerous and she needs to learn to control it.
As the two walked into the lab, Davenport turned to an exhausted Freya. "Thank you for your help. You did great. You are learning to control your bionics and saved lives."
"I let people get hurt." Freya sadly sighed.
"They are all gonna be fine." Davenport assured her. "You did the job three people should have done. You are more of a hero than them."
Freya gave him a small smile, wishing that wasn't true. "It sucks that they only care about getting their faces out there. I didn't expect Chase of all people."
"Don't worry about that right now. Go get cleaned up." Davenport told her, rubbing her back and Freya walked out of the lab to clean up.
Adam, Bree, and Chase walked into the lab with their mission suits right as Freya exited to the other side of the lab.
"Oh, hey, Mr. Davenport." Bree greeted.
Davenport turned away from his bag too show the trio he was covered in soot and dirt with his shirt ripped in places.
Chase frown. "What happened to you?"
"Where have you been? I've been calling for hours." Davenport demanded.
"I didn't even notice you called. We've been too busy flying around the country doing meet and greets." Chase remarked.
"Yeah, we kissed a ton of babies. Their heads are delicious." Adam added.
Chase takes out his phone. "Here it is. 17 missed calls and a text message with a...mission alert." Chase lifted his head with a look of shock. "Well, how can we help you... yesterday?"
"I had to bring Freya." Davenport gestured to Freya, who walked back out and she saw the trio. Chase looked at Freya with a look of concern.
"Freya-"
"Don't talk to me." Freya seethed angrily, ignoring his attempt at a hug and Chase's face fell, feeling sorrow.
"You alright?" Chase asked and Freya shook her head, fighting back tears.
"You care now?" She asked her breath hitching and Chase's eyes filled with hurt. "First, you stood me up and than missed a mission."
Graham walked back out and Freya rolled her eyes, sitting on the chair. She hates Graham. "Ah, good news, team. This weekend we're off to Paris."
Davenport protested, marching up to him. "All right. Enough with the press tour. They have important work to do. Because of you, they missed a mission and people got hurt. I had to bring Freya and it put her in danger."
Graham sighed, glancing at the blonde. "Well, that's unfortunate, but they have other priorities right now."
Graham leaves and Freya glared at him as he left. She stood up with a groan, holding her back as Davenport berated his kids.
"Oh, so getting your faces in front of the camera is more important than saving lives?" Davenport asked them.
"We didn't say that." Chase objected. "It's just, things have changed."
Freya's eyes narrowed as she looked at Chase and she scoffed with disbelief.
"So, you're okay with your girlfriend risking her life?" Davenport asked Chase.
"No, I'm not." Chase denied. "I just-"
"You just what?" Freya asked, walking up to Chase. "Suddenly you are all famous and I don't matter anymore?"
"I didn't say that-"
"Really? Because it sure seems like it." Freya's eyes darkened and let out an irritated sigh. "Once, you get your head screwed back on. Come talk to me and we can continue this relationship."
Freya showed past the bionic teens and walked out, wiping her tears away. Chase watched her leave, feeling his heart break at the sight. He couldn't believe he lost Freya because he let the fame get to his head.
"Well, I'm glad we had 16 years of bionic training so you could do the weather for AM San Diego." Davenport told them.
"That's tomorrow." Bree mumbled.
"You know what? I'm really disappointed in you guys. All our hard work and all you care about is being famous." Davenport scoffed as he walked by them to leave.
"Mr. Davenport--" Chase called.
"You know what? Save it!" Davenport snapped. "I thought you guys were heroes...but I guess I was wrong."
Davenport left the lab to go check on Freya.
——
Chase had been calling and texting Freya, but she ignored him. She was way too upset with him and didn't want to hear his excuses. Juliet was planning on beating up Chase, but she was still not properly healed and couldn't do it. But once she gets enough strength, she will make sure Chase knows not to mess with her sister.
Someone knocked on the door and Freya answered it to reveal Bree, but she immediately shut the door. Bree supersped in before she could shut it and Freya groaned, walking away.
"Go away!" Freya called.
"Rey, you need to listen!" Bree said and supersped over to her, blocking her from moving. "Please. We made a mistake letting Graham take control."
"This isn't all him. You allowed yourself to get this way. You are heroes and you have a job to do." Freya told her best friend and sighed. "You let me risk my life. Again."
"I'm sorry! We feel terrible. But we have a way to get rid of Graham!" Bree told her and Freya got curious, which signaled Bree to continue. "The President is coming by and we have a plan to mess with Graham."
Freya thought for a second and shrugged. "Messing with people is fun..."
"We messed up. Chase feels absolutely terrible for what he did." Bree told Freya, who sighed, looking to the side, shaking her head. "Please come to the lab."
"Fine." Freya reluctantly agreed and Bree smiled. "But if Graham says anything stupid, I will shock him till his hair falls off."
"I won't stop you." Bree chuckled, before super speeding Freya to her house.
——
Bree had grabbed Davenport, pulling him to the lab. "I don't care if the President is coming. I don't want any part of it."
"Yeah, well, you were demoted so you don't have a say." Bree remarked and walked away.
"What's happening?" Davenport asked Freya.
"Not one hundred percent sure, but we will find out." Freya told Davenport as Graham rushed in.
"He's here, he's here. Everyone in position." Graham hurried everyone and the bionics teens made sure they looked good.
The President and two body guards enter.
Graham politely greeted. "Mr. President, welcome to the home of the world's first bionic superhumans."
"It's an honor to meet you, Mr. President. I'm Chase--"
"Good tidings, my lordship!" Adam greeted in an obnoxious accent and curtsies.
Freya pressed her lips together, holding back her chuckle. She may be mad at them, but will always laugh at Adam being an idiot.
"You must be Adam." The President said.
Bree smiled. "And you must be disappointed. I'm Bree."
"Very nice to meet you. I just wanted to thank you for all the lives you've saved." The President praised.
"It was our honor, sir." Chase replied warmly.
"Okay, team, it's time to show our Commander-in-Chief how your bionics work." Graham explained and gestured to Bree. "Bree, you're up."
"Absolutely, Agent Graham." Bree said as Graham moved away and Davenport and Freya moved to the side. Bree looked at the President. "This is my super speed." She super speeds back and forth and then in circles around Graham, knocking him over. Freya gasped quietly, smiling under her hand.
Graham was helped up and seethed at her. "What's the matter with you?"
Bree shrugged, pretending to be confused. "I don't know. I guess I've spent so much time being a celebrity instead of training that I can't control my bionics."
"Bree, would you stop messing around? The President is standing right there!" Davenport berated his daughter in a hushed voice.
Bree hissed quietly to him, widening her eyes. "I know the President's standing right there."
Davenport and Freya shared a look of understanding and than looked at Bree. "Ahh."
Freya grinned, muttering to herself. "I'm gonna enjoy this."
"Sorry about that, sir." Graham apologized.
"Mr. President, how about I demonstrate my molecular kinesis?" Chase suggested.
The President nodded. "Sure."
Chase uses his molecular kinesis to pick up a smoothie and then pretended to lose control. He then dump it on Graham's head and Freya let out chuckle, covering her mouth. She looked at Chase with cheeky grin and he smiled.
"Oopsie!"
Freya giggled as Chase found her and gave her a wink. Suddenly, Freya wasn't so angry at Chase, but she it still upset he blew her off. It was attractive to see him do that to Graham.
The President frowned with confusion. "Graham, what is going on?"
Graham chuckled, incredulously. "It's fine. Everything's fine! Adam, why don't you show the President that thing you do with your breathe?"
Adam walks over to the President and exhales in his face, making him recoil.
"Oh!"
Freya snickered, sharing a grin with Davenport.
Graham clenched his fist. "Not that! The big force thing.."
Adam gasped. "Oh. You mean this?" Adam uses his pressurized lung capacity to blow Graham slowly across the room.
Graham yelled over the powerful wind as he got blown back. "Okay, that's enough. Okay, that's enough!"
"His bionic breath must be stuck!" Chase yelled.
"Davenport, do something!" Graham pleaded and Freya scoffed, laughing.
"Oh, look who finally needs my help." Davenport smiled and Freya pointed to a button on the console.
"Press that one!" She smiled.
"Thank you!" Graham yelled and presses a button on the console, which made the President and his body guards fall through the compartmentalized floor. Adam stopped his pressurized lung capacity.
"AH!" The President yelled as everyone looked toward the hole as Freya smirked.
"Haha." She chuckled smugly.
Graham rushed to the hole. "Uh-oh!"
"Get me out of here!" The President yelled from the bottom.
Freya sarcastically smiled to Graham. "Nice going, Graham. That's one way to get noticed by your boss."
"You tricked me." Graham said and Freya shrugged with a cheeky grin.
"Oops." She shrugged and offered a smoothie to him. "Smoothie?"
Chase grinned proudly at his girlfriend and she gave him a warm smile back.
——
Graham had went to retrieve The President and his guards. Chase pulled Freya aside, immediately apologizing.
"Rey, I'm so sorry. I know I said I wouldn't let the fame get to my head and I did. I'm so sorry. I got so caught up and seeing you all injured and beat up, it made me realize how stupid I was." Chase apologized and Freya was just smiling, glad he was realizing his mistake. "I'm so sorry I forgot about our date. Right after this, we will go on one. I promise."
Freya giggled, rubbing his arm. "Glad you realized that. Yes, you were stupid." She punched his arm and he winced. "Stand me up again and I won't hesitate to shock you till you lost all feeling."
Chase grinned, grabbing her hands. "I won't ever do it again."
Chase grinned, lifting up Freya's bandage fingers and gently kissed the fingers that were bandaged. Freya blushed bashfully and Chase put his arm around her, kissing her head.
The President walked back in with his guards and Graham was frantically trying to redeem himself
"So, uh, Mr. President, anything else you'd like to see?" Graham asked.
President rubbed his neck and fixed his tie. "Yes. Your qualifications for this job. Call Washington, have them send a replacement for this clown immediately."
"What? No." Graham protested as Freya smiled, leaning into Chase.
Bree stepped forward. "Uh, Mr. President, we have a replacement." She points at Davenport. "Him."
Davenport grinned proudly and the President frowned. "The smoothie guy?"
"He's not the smoothie guy, he's our father and our real leader." Chase explained.
"Agent Graham doesn't care about our missions or helping people. He just wants to make money off of us." Bree told the President, giving Graham a look.
President looked a Graham with disbelief. "Is this true?"
"Sir, with all due respect, we can't let a civilian control the world's most powerful weapons." Graham reasoned.
"They are not weapons." Freya seethed, glaring at him. "They are people. My best friends." She looked up at Chase with a loving smile. "My boyfriend."
"This young lady is right." The President smiled when he saw Chase and Freya smiling softly at one another. "They're his children. You're done, Graham. Get him out of here."
Graham starts to get taken away by body guards as Graham protested. "But, Mr. President--"
"Wait." Adam objected and guards holding Graham pause. "I just want you to know... we'll always have Des Moines."
Graham is taken away after that and Freya smiled happily.
"Mr. Davenport, the government owes you an apology." The President apologized to Davenport. "We had no right to come between you and your family."
"And, Mr. President, we owe you an apology, too." Chase mentioned, lowering his arm from Freya to hold her hand. "Our bionics didn't really glitch. We just had to expose Graham and show you that he wasn't qualified to lead us."
"I figured something was up. I've seen the footage of your abilities. They're quite impressive." The President praised and Freya smiled at the trio. The President looked at Davenport. "Listen, if you can keep me briefed, I see no reason why you shouldn't resume control here."
Davenport shook his hand. "Thank you, Mr. President."
"Oh, before I leave, I need to do one more thing." The President takes a quick selfie with Adam, Bree, and Chase unexpectedly. Freya tried to hide behind Chase as he did. "Bam! Bionic selfie." The President cleared hit throat. "It's for my daughter."
He left after that and Freya chuckled, looking at Chase and his eyes found hers. He kissed her forehead, bringing her in for a warm hug. Freya exhaled softly, leaning her head against his chest.
Freya truly believes life is finally becoming normal. No more danger, no more Krane. She is finally happy.

~That Night~
Juliet sat on the couch, eating dinner and watching Grey's Anatomy. Juliet was able to walk around, which she was trying to do a much as she can. She wants to get her strength back and not sit around all day.
Someone knocked on the door and she sighed, getting up to answer it. She opened it to reveal Adam standing there with a rose in his hand and a smile.
"Adam?" Juliet frowned. "What do you want?"
"I came to apologize for not showing up yesterday." He said and he showed her the single rose. "This is for you. I picked it from your garden myself."
"Our garden?" Juliet asked as she took the rose.
"Yes. It's like in the open I expected it to be available for everyone," Adam remarked and Juliet sighed, turning away and walking to the couch.
Juliet grinned, chuckling lightly. "Oh Adam."
"What? Is it not?" Adam asked with confusion as he walked in and shut the door.
Juliet carefully sat down on the couch and groaned, leaning back. She is healing, but she still has lots of pain everywhere.
"How are you feeling?" Adam asked, sitting next to her. "Is there anything I can do?"
"I'm okay." Juliet assured him and they sat in silence for a few moments. It felt awkward for them and Juliet was still upset he bailed on her, but she was glad he showed up. The rose was sweet and very adorable of him.
"Thanks for the rose." Juliet smiled.
"You're welcome. I can pick you more if you want," Adam offered, getting up and Juliet grabbed his arm.
"It's okay. It's my garden, I can pick them whenever." Juliet remarked and Adam sat back down.
"I'm sorry about yesterday. Being famous is cool, but I got so caught up I forgot my job and important stuff. Being a hero and doing missions and..." Adam trailed off and cleared his throat, his cheeks turning red.
"And what?" Juliet asked, noticing his flustered face.
"You..." Adam bashfully remarked. "I forgot someone important. The one girl I really like."
Juliet grinned, looking away and Adam smiled at her softly.
"I'm glad you realized you forgot about me." Juliet chuckled. "I'm already aware you like me. It's no secret."
Adam's blush deepened and he rubbed his neck, awkwardly. "I guess I haven't been super secretive of that,"
Juliet blushed. "Not at all."
Juliet grabbed his hand, holding it on her lap. Adam looked at her and she smiled, feeling major sparks and her heart fluttering.
Adam smiled brightly at her and squeezed her hand gently.
