Chapter 5 - Bella's Departure
Every students in Forks High were buzzing with a new piece of gossip.
Edward Cullen and Bella Swan started dating.
Girls were seething with rage and jealousy and boys were not far behind. Jessica practically leaped on top of Lucy and began aggressively shaking her by her shoulders asking for details.
"What on earth happened after we left?!"
"Apparently Edward asked my sister out during that meal. She was gloating ever since she came back home."
That was not all though. Lucrezia thought about what really happened last night.
When she came back home Charlie was watching something on the flat screen drinking a bottle of beer. He looked up to find a heaping pile of dress, accessories, and a shoe box balanced in Lucy's arms.
"Didn't Bella go with you?" he asked, taking the shoe box and a few shopping bags from her and carrying them up to the attic with her.
"She's not really into shopping. She wandered to a book store alone. We waited for her but after half an hour we were too tired and hungry so we ate without her. Only to find out that she was with Edward Cullen the entire time, ignoring our calls."
Lucy was close to her father and they told each other about their day during the evening. They didn't keep anything hidden from another. She knew that this made Charlie happy, and she even heard him brag about this a little to his friends.
What she didn't know was that she just made Charlie dislike Edward Cullen even before he met him. Like all fathers, Charlie wanted his girls to meet good, sensible boys - or girls - who had good manners. An impromptu date which made her family worry was not considered good mannered. And no formal introduction before the first date? When one's daughter is considered an adult, there is no need for that, but when she's a teenager living under his roof, he needs to see if the boy is good enough.
And Edward Cullen didn't meet Charlie's standard in every single way.
Sure he heard that the boy was good looking, but looks aren't everything. And Bella didn't even tell him that she was interested in someone. When he asked in the diner the other day she clearly said no boys in town really interested her. Then suddenly, she is out late with a boy with him not knowing when she would arrive.
Charlie didn't like this. He didn't like this one bit.
He waited and waited and when Bella walked through the door half past eleven, he was livid. There was something out there that was killing people. Even his friend Waylon was reported missing and he was hoping nothing happened to him, and his own daughter didn't care about her family worrying.
It was late, so he couldn't yell, but he set a curfew as a punishment and sent her upstairs. He rubbed his temples as Bella started banging on the attic door. Thankfully, Lucy didn't ignore the banging and opened the door. He went upstairs to his room to rest as Lucy's hushed yells were heard.
"I know what the Cullens are."
"Everyone knows the Cullens and if they have a secret then I don't want to know about it. You found out, good for you, now get out." Lucy had just got into bed and she seriously didn't want to deal with Bella's nonsense right now. She was too tired and Bella looked half mad with her eyes full-blown with excitement.
"You knew that they were vampires?"
"A what?" Now Bella looked and sounded mad at a hundred percent capacity.
"Vampires! Blood drinking, insanely beautiful-"
"I know what a vampire is Bella, but come on. It's 21st century, you are seventeen. Vampires? Really?"
Bella stomped her foot and opened her mouth to scream at her twin, but shut it again. If Lucy didn't believe it, then fine. She will remain young and beautiful forever while Lucy will grow old and die.
Lucy shook her head as Bella went back to her room. Sighing, she snuggled into her blankets. It was a long day and after Bella's rant she desperately needed sleep.
And now it was this chaos. From what Lucy knew Edward and Bella were not so friendly with each other until just a few days ago, and then last night they had their first 'date'. Now, they were a 'proper' couple that went public.
'A single date made Bella fall 'in love'? I think not.' Lucy thought. It was either Edward having something Bella wants, or dating him making her feel superior. And in this case, she concluded, it was both.
"He's taking her to meet his family this Sunday."
"No way!"
"She was rubbing it in my face ever since he told her. Seriously, what crimes did I commit during my last life to deserve such fate?"
Sunday came quickly. Charlie was cleaning his shotgun and Lucrezia was baking earl grey pound cakes when Bella grabbed a beer bottle and set it in front of Charlie.
"I have a date today with Edward Cullen."
"Edward Cullen? I thought you didn't like any boys in town?"
"...He doesn't live in town. Technically."
Lucy stopped stirring the cake batter and turned to Bella with did-you-just-really-say-that face. Charlie lifted his eyebrow but decided not to argue.
"He's here to meet you right now. Can you be nice? He's important."
Lucrezia giggled and returned to stirring as her father exasperatedly drew a halo above his head while cocking his gun.
Pouring the batter into three different pans, Lucy drowned out the noise and whipped a batch of icing with lemon zest.
After baking and decorating, she went over to Billy's house with the cakes with her dad where Billy and and Harry were waiting for them.
Meanwhile, Bella arrived at the Cullen's but there was now a slight tension in this room. A broken glass bowl was strewn across the kitchen floor, Edward and Rosalie were growling at each other while others were desperately trying to calm them down.
Bella glanced between Rosalie and Edward while stealing a look or two of Jasper. She had seen him interact with her good-for-nothing sister but right now he was just standing still with a rigid expression.
"...I'll show you my room upstairs." Edward then led Bella to the stairs as Esme ordered Rosalie to clean broken shards of glass.
Large, spacious house with big windows and luxurious furniture. Graceful posture and elegant and expensive clothing. And finally, enhanced beauty and youth forever. The Cullen household was just perfect for her.
No more fishing gears lying around, no more watching sport she didn't like on the flat screen. No more Charlie hanging around awkwardly, and finally, no more sister to annoy her to no end.
Bella just couldn't wait to marry Edward and join the Cullens. She would be a modern day Cinderella and Edward will treat her as a princess.
Lucrezia was deep-frying chicken and potatoes for dinner when Bella came in upset.
"I'm leaving Forks."
Charlie was desperately trying to stop her while she was throwing some clothes into a bag. Lucy knew this would happen one way or the other, and went to her dad's side when Bella yelled at him.
"I don't want to be stuck in this dreary town! Rain everyday, baseball on flat-screen, fishing... it's all you Dad, not me! Not to mention having Lucrezia near me being goody-two-shoes all the time!"
Silence hung in the room as Charlie stared heartbroken. Bella hoisted up her bag to her shoulders and turned to leave when she was suddenly pushed to the ground. It was Lucy.
"Then make sure you don't come back," she growled. "Dad tried his best even though you were the worst kind of daughter to him! You never visited or even contacted him for years and he still welcomes you when you suddenly come to stay, he's been trying his best to give us what we need and want despite his awkwardness around teenage daughters, he even bought you your own damn car! After all he's done for you, you say 'it's not me' bullshit? 'I don't deserve him' is what you should say!"
Lucy picked her sister up by the scruff of her neck and dragged her out, Charlie worriedly calling and trailing after them.
"Go on then! Go back to Mom! Drag her back to Phoenix and make her stay with your insufferable ass instead of Phil! Make her miserable, since it's the only thing your good at!" she screamed, making sure the entire neighborhood heard about Bella being a bitch and a poor excuse of a daughter to their kind sheriff.
Bella ran to her car and pulled out. Lucrezia huffed and went back in to find Charlie slumped on the sofa.
"What did I do wrong Muffin?"
"Nothing. Look at me, Dad. I'm here, with you, all smart and pretty and kind. This, all of this, - she gestured at herself - is the result of your parenting and you should be proud of yourself of bringing up a daughter like me. You did nothing wrong."
She hugged her dad, ran to the kitchen and got those chickens she fried earlier and put it in front of him. At first he didn't touch it, but with her persuasion, he slowly began eating. Meanwhile Lucy quickly went out side and made a call to Billy for Charlie's emotional support, who told her that he would come over at once.

I'm so sorry for not updating for so long.
I kind of fell out of my writing phase and went for crochet needles. But I'm now on writing!
