REAL LIFE

Zia Thornfield took a deep breath as the final scene wrapped. The director called, "Cut!" for the last time, and just like that, Fear Street 4 was done. Months of grueling night shoots, endless takes, and the constant pressure of perfecting her role had finally come to an end. The set, once alive with eerie fog and the glow of stage lights, now felt oddly quiet. She let the moment sink in before exhaling a laugh.

"That's a wrap!" someone shouted, and the crew erupted into applause.

Zia grinned as her co-stars hugged her, some exchanging numbers, others promising to meet up soon. She knew how the industry worked some friendships would last, some would fade, but right now, all that mattered was that she had made it. She had put her heart into this movie

Slipping away from the crowd, Zia pulled out her phone and texted her dad.

Zia: Done. Finally.

Her dad responded almost immediately.

Dad: Proud of you, kid. Come home. Mom's been asking for you all day.

A warm feeling spread through her chest. Just months ago, her mom had been in a coma, trapped in a world none of them could reach. Now, she was awake, healing, and here. That alone made all the exhaustion from filming worth it.

After a few more goodbyes, Zia hopped into her car and drove home. The streetlights blurred past as she let her favorite playlist fill the silence, her body finally relaxing for the first time in months. By the time she pulled into the driveway, she could already see the living room light on her dad waiting, like always.

When she stepped inside, the smell of her mom's cooking hit her first.

"Zia!" Her dad, Mr Thornfields pulled her into a tight hug, and she melted into it. "How was the last day?"

"Exhausting," she admitted, kicking off her boots. "But good. We actually pulled it off."

"Of course you did," her mom, said as she walked in, balancing a bowl of soup. She still moved carefully, as if her body wasn't fully hers yet, but the color had returned to her cheeks. "We were just about to watch a movie. Want to join?"

Zia hesitated, glancing at the couch. It had been so long since she had a night like this just her and her parents, no cameras, no scripts, no expectations. "Yeah," she said, dropping onto the couch. "Sounds perfect."

A knock at the door interrupted them.

Zia's dad sighed. "Let me guess, your friends?"

Zia grinned and shrugged at her father "They did say they wanted to celebrate."

Her dad shook his head with a small chuckle and went to open the door. Sure enough, Harper, Cami, and Nia stood on the porch, each holding some kind of snack or drink.

"You didn't think you were getting rid of us that easily, did you?" Harper teased, stepping inside.

"We brought ice cream," Nariah added, shaking a bag. "Because obviously, this is a movie wrap celebration and a welcome home Mrs.Thornfield party."

She laughed. "You girls always know how to make an occasion out of anything."

Zia scooted over to make space as her friends piled onto the couch. Cami plopped down beside her, stealing a handful of popcorn from the bowl on the coffee table.

"So," Cami said, nudging Zia. "What's next? Gonna take a break, or are you already planning your next big role?"

Zia sighed dramatically, sinking into the cushions. "No auditions. No scripts. Just sleep. Maybe some junk food. Maybe a trip somewhere."

Harper smirked. "You say that now, but we all know you'll be back on set in, like, a month."

The movie started playing, the soft hum of conversation filling the room. Zia leaned her head against the couch, her mom's hand resting lightly on hers.

As the movie played in the background, Zia's phone buzzed on the coffee table. She glanced at the screen and felt her heart do a little flip, Walker.

Cami, sitting closest to her, smirked. "Ooooh, it's lover boy zaza."

"Shut up," Zia muttered, but she was already picking up the call. She got up and walked into the kitchen.

She got up and walked into the kitchen, phone pressed to her ear.

"Hey, movie star," Walker's voice came through, warm and teasing. "Congratulations. You officially survived Fear Street 4."

Zia smiled, leaning against the counter. "Your so corny, and I barley did"

He chuckled. "Well, you looked amazing in all the behind-the-scenes clips. Can't wait to see the final cut."

"Yeah, me too" she admitted. "It's weird. I've been working on it for so long, and now it's just... over."

"That's how it goes," he said. "But you killed it, Z. I know it."

His confidence in her made something in her chest flutter. Walker had always been her biggest supporter, even when she doubted herself.

"Thanks," she said softly. "I needed that."

There was a small pause before he asked, "So, what's next for you tonight? Big Hollywood afterparty?"

She snorted. "More like a 'sit on the couch and eat ice cream with my parents and best friends' party."

"Sounds like my kind of celebration," he said. "Wish I was there."

"Me too," she admitted before she could stop herself.

"I'll definitely make sure I can make it next time," he said. "Now go enjoy your ice cream. And tell your mom I said hi."

"I will." Zia said knowing he was smiling behind the screen

"Night, Zia."

"Night, Walker."

She ended the call, unable to wipe the smile off her face. When she turned around, Harper, Cami, and nai were peeking in from the living room, smirking.

"Shut up," Zia said before they could say anything.

Cami smiled "Awww you guys are so cute" she mocked

Zia rolled her eyes but couldn't fight the blush creeping up her cheeks. "I will throw popcorn at you."

Harper grinned. "Uh-huh. You're totally in love."

Nariah laughed. "And it's adorable."

Zia groaned, but she was still smiling as she grabbed the ice cream and headed back to the couch.
