Jack looked up from Sams laptop as Sam came into the kitchen.
"Sam! Sam!" Jack smiled.
"Yeah? What is it?" Sam asked.
"I have a plan." Jack told him as he closed the laptop. "I'm going to fix August's ears."
"What do you mean?" Sam asked with a chuckle.
"I'm gonna fix them so she can hear like me and you." Jack smiled.
Sam sighed a little.
"Jack, look, I know you want to help her, but somethings just can't be fixed." Sam told him.
"What do you mean?" Jack asked, but before Sam could answer, August came running into the kitchen.
"Jack!" August came running over to him. "Power rangers!" She signed, then took his arm, pulling him up out of his chair.
Jack smiled and followed her, Sam smiled at them.
~~~
After watching power rangers with August, Jack went to go get a snack from the fridge.
Dean and Cas were in the kitchen, talking and drinking beers.
Jack tilted his head slightly.
"Dean, Cas?" He asked making the two men look at him.
"Yeah?" Dean questioned.
"I want to fix August's ears so she can hear." Jack told them.
Dean was quiet for a moment as he glanced at Cas, who looked at him.
"Jack, maybe some things are better off not being fixed." Dean said.
Jack furrowed his brows in slight confusion.
"Why not?" He asked.
"Jack, she's lived with it her whole life, you can't just change it now." Cas said.
"It's not fair!" Jack stated.
"Jack—"
Before Cas could say anything else, Jack left the kitchen. Dean sighed.
Jack went into August's room where she was picking another movie. She looked up and noticed Jack was a little upset.
"What's wrong?" She signed as she got up, coming over to him.
"I wanna help you." Jack told her.
August tilted her head in confusion.
"I can fix your ears. You won't have to use your hearing aids anymore." Jack said.
August sighed lightly.
"It's okay, Jack. Don't worry about it. Besides, you can't fix it. I was born with it." August signed to him.
Jack looked down at his hands.
August leaned down to see his eyes.
Jack looked at her and she smiled making him smile a little.
~~~
Jack sat up in his bed, tossing the covers aside. He got up and left his room, going down the hall towards August's room.
Jack slowly and quietly opened August's bedroom door and came in, gently closing the door behind him.
August was asleep in her bed, her hearing aids laying on the nightstand.
Jack walked over to the sleeping girl, and he put his hand over her ears. His hands started glowing, and after a few minutes he was done.
Jack smiled and looked to August, but she didn't wake up, or even move. His smile fell, and he sighed, leaving August's room.
~~~
August woke up to Sam and Dean yelling at each other from the kitchen, arguing over bacon.
August groaned and put her pillow over her head. It didn't even muffle it.
"Shut up!? No more yelling!?" She screamed at them.
It went silent, but a few seconds later, Sam and Dean came running into her room.
August sat up, looking at them.
"What?" She asked.
"You can hear us?" Sam asked her.
August froze and realized she could hear them. She looked over to her nightstand, seeing her hearing aids were still there.
"August?" Dean asked.
August looked at him and nodded.
"I hear you."
Sam and Dean looked at each other.
~~~
"No, Cas, we don't know what's going on!" Dean said as he paced back and forth.
Sam looked at August, then he clapped his hands loudly beside her, the girl flinched.
"Well, i don't think shes faking it." Sam said.
"How could she even fake that, Sam? She heard us all the way from her bedroom!" Dean stated.
August put her hands over her ears and her head down on the table. She didn't like hearing everything.
"What's going on?"
The three men looked up as Jack came into the room.
"August can hear." Sam stated.
Jack looked between them just before smiling.
"I told you I could do it!" Jack cheered excitedly.
"Wait, wait, wait. What?" Dean questioned him.
"I did it! I fixed them! While she was sleeping, I came in and I fixed her ears!" Jack told them.
"But why?" August asked, looking up at him.
"So you can hear without your hearing aids! It's not fair you can't hear without them." Jack stated.
"Life isn't fair sometimes, Jack." Sam said.
"But it is now! August can hear!" Jack stated.
"Jack." August spoke making the four look at her. "Thank you, but I don't want to hear everything." She signed to him, speaking as well.
She didn't like only speaking now that she could hear everything. Nothing she said sounded exactly like what Sam, Dean, Cas, and Jack said.
Hers sounded different. She couldn't pronounce her words as well as everyone else, and she just preferred not to hear it. She also didn't like hearing all the noises around the bunker, like the AC kicking in, or the weird noises the fridge made. And she definitely did not like when jets flew by.
Sam and Dean both could've swore she had a mini heart attack as soon as she heard that jet fly by, and then of course the second flew by, and by then, August was hiding under the kitchen table.
"I was only trying to help." Jack said, looking down at the floor.
"No!" August shook her head, making Jack look back up at her. "Its okay! I am just used to being mostly deaf." She signed to Jack. "I like it better that way." August signed with a soft smile.
"Oh. Okay." Jack nodded. "I think i can change it back." He said.
The three men looked at each other, August looked at them.
"August, are you sure?" Dean asked the girl.
"Yes." August nodded her head without hesitation.
"Okay." Dean sighed, looking to Jack.
Jack came over to August, stepping behind her, then he placed his hands over her ears, then his hands started glowing.
August didn't really feel anything, but she could hear everything getting quieter and quieter.
Once Jack was done, he pulled away from August, August looked up at him, surprised it didn't take as long as she thought it would. Sam, Dean, and Cas all looked at Jack, then Dean looked back to August.
He clapped his hands, and August didn't even react.
"Can you hear anything?" Sam signed to August.
"Little bit. Like normal." August signed back.
"Alright, Jack-" Dean started.
"I know, i know, i'm sorry." Jack apologized, cutting dean short.
"Just don't do it again, alright? I know you just wanted to help, but you can't mess with that kinda stuff, okay?" Dean told him.
"Okay." Jack nodded understandingly.
"Kay! Cars now!" August cheered, getting up from her chair, and rushing towards Jack, taking his hand and pulling him down the hallway with her.
"Well." Cas spoke up.
"Like it never even happened." Sam said.
Dean hummed.
August closed her door as Jack went and sat on her bed.
"August, i'm sorry for messing with your ears." Jack apologized to the girl as she came and sat beside him on the bed.
"It's okay, Jack! You were doing it for a good reason." August signed, a smile on her face.
"You're not mad?" Jack asked her.
August shook her head making Jack smile.
"Cars?" August asked him, tilting her head slightly.
"Yeah, we can watch cars now." Jack chuckled.
August happily got up, rushing over to her t.v.
