TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 1st 1977
I'm abruptly woken up from a deep sleep by blinding rays of sunlight as someone rips open the curtains while whistling a merry tune that makes my blood boil. Mallory groans loudly, pulling the covers off of me and over her head while Pandora whines in annoyance, hiding her face in my hair. Sandwiched between the two girls, I have no choice but to peel my eyes open and let them adjust to the light.
"Good morning, girls" Evan chirps cheerily and I glare at him.
"Piss off, Rosier!" Alecto growls from her bed across the room.
"Shut your trap, Carrow" He fires back with a sharp look in her direction.
The ginger girl huffs in anger and pulls the covers over her head as Evan turns back to us, a happy grin tugging at his lips.
"How'd you sleep?" He questions, plopping down onto the bed.
"Great until you showed up" Pandora mutters.
"Ouch" He scoffs.
"I'm so not in the mood for a hungover catch up" I groan, covering my face with my arm.
I hear the sound of the door opening, followed by a frustrated grunt and I'm then squashed under the weight of another human being.
"Regulus!" Pandora and Mallory complain.
"Sorry" The raven haired boy mumbles, wrapping his arms around me.
I move my arm to see that Regulus has his own duvet draped over his form, laying his head on my shoulder and shutting his eyes sleepily.
"I feel really left out" Evan pouts.
"Oh, shut up already" Mallory snaps, grabbing the Rosier boy's shirt and tugging him down.
Evan grins widely and cuddles into the Belovna girl as Regulus shares his duvet.
"Now I feel left out" Pandora frowns.
"C'mere, Dora" I coo, tugging her closer to me.
Regulus lazily slings his arm around the both of us and I peck the blonde girl's temple, causing her to smile as her eyes flutter shut. The five of us lay all squashed up together for what feels like forever until Alecto finally gets up and deliberately tries to make as much noise as possible while getting ready for her classes.
"Stomp one more time and I'll stomp on your head" Mallory threatens angrily.
Knowing that she has no one to back her up this time, the Carrow girl grabs her bag with a huff of air and storms out of the room, slamming the door loudly on her way out.
"I'm going to commit murder" I declare.

When I finally enter my dorm room again after a long day of classes and a hangover from hell still causing me grief, I find five letters on my bed along side three parcels all of which I forgot to open yesterday. I drop my book bag onto the ground and flop onto my stomach down on the bed.
As I pick up the first letter, I immediately know who it is from just by looking at the handwriting on the envelope.
To Evangeline,
The Malfoy family send you their best wishes on your seventeenth birthday.
From Mother & Father
Although the mere note is signed by my parents, I know for a fact that it was written by Dobby as they are far too busy to take the time to write to me themselves whether it is my birthday or not. Note my sarcasm. If my own natural instinct isn't enough to know for certain the note isn't from my parents, the pair of white frilly socks inside the envelope confirms my suspicion as the Malfoy house elf gives me socks every year on my birthday.
Discarding the sheet of paper next to me, I pick up the next letter and my irritation for the couple who raised me is slowly forgotten for the moment.
To my beloved Evangeline,
I wish you the happiest of birthdays, my dear. You are flourishing into a wonderfully respectable young lady if I do say so myself. Have a lovely day and enjoy yourself, but not too much.
I am also very excited to see you at this coming Christmas holiday. It is going to be better than any before.
Kind regards, Walburga Black
Not pondering too much about the vague excitement the woman has for Christmas, I place the letter on top of my parents' and pick up the next one which is laid next to a parcel.
To our favourite little Malfoy,
We both wish you a warm and loving birthday, and hope that you enjoy your big day as you so much deserve to. Enclosed in the parcel is a gift that we both have been putting together for a long time now, waiting for this special day. We hope you love it as much as we love you.
Much love, Narcissa & Lucius x
I tear open the brown paper and it reveals a large black leather bound book. Carefully opening it to the first page, I see Narcissa's gorgeous calligraphy that I know my brother adores. 'Evangeline Nyx Malfoy; Through The Years' the writing reads and I flip to the next page to see a picture of me as a newborn baby, a seven year old Lucius holding me in his arms with a timid smile on his face. 'The day you made Lucius a big brother' the calligraphy is written under the picture. I quickly skim a few of the pages, watching the pictures of me as I grow older and older throughout the years, little hand written notes on each page. As I reach the last page, I find a picture of me at the wedding with Regulus, Narcissa and Lucius. There is a small note that falls out of the book and I pick it up, unfolding it to read the message.
P.S. We didn't fill the whole book because we want you to finish the story. Fill the remaining blank pages with memories that make you happy.
Preferably using the polaroid we got you last year as the other photos are polaroid and it would look silly other wise.
I apologise, that second part was your brother.
I let out an amused giggle and gently push the items to the side, picking up the next letter.
Dear Linnie,
Happy birthday to the only Malfoy that I can stand to be around. I hope that your beautiful self has a wonderful, magic filled day and that you like my gift I picked especially for your big day. I can bet that you're missing me a whole lot right now but don't fret, little one, I'll be seeing you at Christmas time.
Love from your favourite former Black sister, Trixie
I roll my eyes with a small smile at Bellatrix's cocky nature and pick up the parcel that is wrapped in black paper, tightly secured with a grey ribbon. pulling off the ribbon and unwrapping the paper, I find a stunning black dress that is a mix between my style and hers.
I open the last letter and a warmth fills my chest just by the handwriting that is so familiar to me.
Dear Evangeline,
Happy seventeenth birthday from the Tonks'! I hope your day is as special as you are, darling.
We all miss you very much. Nymphadora won't stop blabbering about her Geli and uncle Reggie. She made you a little something for your birthday and she asks for you every day.
I very much hope that we will see you soon, although I understand if that time has come in your life where our little visits aren't possible any more. If we don't see one another for a while you have to promise me that you will never forget how much I love you, darling. No matter what happens in your life or how different things may become, you will always be our Geli.
Lots of love, Andromeda Tonks x
With glossy eyes, I pick up the parcel and carefully unwrap it to reveal two items. The first is a painting that was very clearly done by Nymphadora, showing five stick people of different sizes and colours along with a house, grass covered in flowers and a sun in the corner of the paper. In Ted's easy to read handwriting, the people are labelled with small names above their heads. Daddy, Mummy, Nymph, Geli and Reggie.
The second item is a tin filled with Andromeda's homemade cinnamon biscuit that I adore to much, the smell of them giving the room a lovely lingering scent.
Climbing off of my bed, I firstly hang Nymphadora's painting up on the wall above my bedside table before placing my other gifts in my trunk for safe keeping, minus the biscuits which I take back over to my bedside. As I place them down on the piece of dark wooden furniture, I notice the gift given to me buy Remus still there and untouched.
I carefully lift it and unwrap it to reveal a maroon covered book with gold writing that reads 'Little Women' by Louisa May Alcott. With a fond smile on my face, I open the cover to see messy handwriting inside.
Dear cub,
I hope when you read this book, it feels as though I'm right there reading it with you
rem x
My fingers smooth over the scratchy writing before flipping the page to see that there is writing in the margin and I flip a few pages to see that continues throughout the book. Remus Lupin had annotated a whole book with cute little notes of his thoughts just for me.
