MONDAY, OCTOBER 3rd 1977
I am stood in potions class next to an unusually happy Remus Lupin as Professor Slughorn places a small potion bottle on each of our desks before taking his place at the front of the class once more.
"I'd like you all to open the bottles in front of you" Professor Slughorn announces.
Remus takes the bottle and opens it but before I can even acknowledge him, I hear Mallory gag dramatically from across the aisle.
"This stuff is bloody awful" The Belovna girl declares in pure disgust "It reeks of Evan Rosier"
I frown in confusion and gently grab Remus' wrist, analysing the bottle in his hand. I read the label and my eyes widen in shock as I turn back to Mallory.
"Mal, that's amortentia" I inform her.
"Piss off" She gasps in disbelief.
The whole class starts howling with laughter and Mallory bangs her head against the table with a loud drawn out groan of despair. I turn my head to the back of the class where Rabastan is sat, one of the only other people in this class that I enjoy talking to, and we both share an amused grin. As I turn back to Remus, expecting to see him laughing as his friends are, I notice that he's looking behind me with a frown.
"You okay, Lupin?" I ask curiously.
"I'm fine" He nods, looking down at the bottle in his hand.
Professor Slughorn quietens down the class before he starts the lesson again and I turn my attention from Remus to the man at the front of the class.
"Would anyone else like to tell the class what theirs smells like?" The man asks but no one answers "Miss Malfoy"
"No, thank you, sir" I reply with a laugh.
"It wasn't a question" He states and my laughter immediately dies.
Reluctantly, I take the bottle from Remus and slowly lift it up to my nose, smiling softly a the smells that fill my nostrils.
"I smell liquorice wands, pine and sea salt" I start, immediately recognising the scent as Regulus.
"Peaches and fresh air" I continue, Pandora this time.
"Cologne and spearmint" I say reminding me of Evan.
"Daffodils and broom polish" I add, this is definitely Mallory.
I drift off in a daze, assuming that would be all due to the fact I'm a firm believer that my friends are the only people that I do and will ever truly love, but the realisation hits me that I smell more.
"Is that all, Miss Malfoy?" Professor Slughorn asks me.
"It kinda smells like chocolate and old books too. The woods after it's been raining and dog?...yeah, some kind of dog" I explain unsurely.
"Wonderful!" Professor Slughorn praises me "Parkinson, you're up next"
Instead of listening to the Parkinson boy explain what his potion smells like, I turn my head to Remus and see that he's already looking at me.
"Dog?" He questions with an amused smile.
"Wolf" I correct and his smile widens as he looks down to the potion in his hand.
He takes a whiff of it and I wait until he looks at me again.
"Cat?" I ask curiously, hint of hopefulness in my tone.
"Lynx" He corrects and I beam at him happily.
"What else do you smell?" I question him.
"Fruits like strawberries and oranges. Cedar wood and lavender with the hint of honey" He answers and my smile never falters.
"Sounds like a hot person" I comment vaguely.
"You have no idea" Remus replies without a beat, lips curled up as he stares me dead in the eyes.

"You will never, I repeat, you will never in your life tell Evan Rosier what happened in potions class, do you hear me?" Mallory warns me as we enter the great hall for lunch.
"I hear you" I assure her.
Before she can reply, both our head whip up to the sound of our friend's loud voice.
"Mallory, my love! Oh, Mallory!" Evan sings smugly, a wide grin on his face.
"For Merlin's sake" She mumbles in frustration.
"It seems that someone has already told him I'm afraid, my love" I grin in amusement and she glares at me, slapping my arm.
I laugh shortly and head over to the Slytherin table, forcing Mallory to follow behind me with her tail between her legs.
"Hello, my love" I greet Regulus teasingly as I sit down next to him and he grins.
"Good afternoon, princess" He replies, handing me an orange.
"Thank you, handsome" I chirp, taking it from him.
"Will you two ever shut up?" Mallory grumbles in annoyance.
"Would you rather it was you and Evan?" Regulus retorts and she glares at him while Evan, Pandora and I laugh.
"Shut it, Black" She sneers.
"Don't be nervous, gorgeous" Evan teases the girl.
"I'm not nervous, you big headed twit. I'm embarrassed" She counters and he rolls his eyes.
"You're embarrassed that people know you love me?" He questions.
"No, I'm embarrassed that people actually believe that I remotely fancy you" She corrects and I grimace at the look of hurt on the Rosier boy's face that he quickly covers.
"There's no point in denying it now, Belovna. Just admit you fancy me" Evan shrugs with a smirk.
"I don't fancy you, dick head" She scoffs.
"But you smelled me in your amortentia!" He argues.
"So what? Evangeline smelled Regulus first and she doesn't fancy him" Mallory points out.
"Stop making excuses already" Evan groans.
"Leave the girl alone, Evan" Pandora giggles, elbowing him gently.
"Thank you, Dora" Mallory smiles before shooting Regulus and I one last glare.
"I heard Angel's amortentia smelled like dog" I hear Barty Crouch's voice and I notice him sat beside Evan, Amycus on the other side of him with Alecto.
"I don't know anyone with a dog" Alecto comments.
"Who does your amortentia smell like, Malfoy?" Amycus taunts with a smirk, the noticeable crook of his healed nose causing me to smirk wider than the boy himself.
"How's your nose, Carrow?" I ask him.
"Healed, so you better warn your halfbreed friend to watch his back" The ginger boy sneers.
"You didn't answer my brother's question, Angel" Alecto says.
"I don't know who it is. You happy now?" I lie through my teeth.
"It's probably a dirty mudblood" Barty laughs, the twins chuckling in amusement.
"Probably" I shrug and that seems to shut them up "It might even be a muggle or a halfblood, but I couldn't care less"
"You shouldn't talk like that" Rabastan warns me worriedly from his seat beside Pandora.
"I'm past the point of caring about what people think of me, Rab" I declare with my head held high and a grin on my face "If you've got a problem with me, tell someone who actually cares because I don't"
"That's my girl" Regulus mumbles under his breath for only me to hear, causing me to smile wider.
"If you'll excuse me, I have much better things to be doing than be lectured in blood supremacy by some dimwits with sticks up their arses" I announce, standing up.
I ruffle Regulus' hair and shoot my friends a smile before walking away from the table in search of something to do.
A pair of honey brown eyes latch onto mine and the Gryffindor boy gives me a questioning expression. I nod at the door and he nods, standing up as he speaks to his friends. I exit the great hall and walk down the corridor before turning the corner and leaning against the wall to wait on him.
The tall boy turns the corner and spots me, opening his mouth to most likely ask me if I'm okay. I cut him off before he can get a word out by grabbing his tie and yanking him towards me, leaning up on my tip toes and kissing the boy. Remus smiles into the kiss and his hands find their way to my waist, holding me close to his body.
"What was that for?" He breathes out as our lips part and I shrug with a dopey smile.
"You look pretty" I answer simply and he chuckles.
"You're something else, cub" He states and the nickname causes butterflies in my stomach.
"Is that a good thing or a bad thing?" I ask curiously.
"The best thing" He assures me.
