TUESDAY, APRIL 11th 1978

"How are you and Lovegood doing?" I ask Pandora curiously as we sit at our spot under the willow tree by the lake.

"We're doing good" Pandora smile "I think my parents actually approve"

"What about your brothers?" I reply.

"Rabastan has always been supportive no matter what I choose to do with my life. He's truly a gift from Merlin himself" Pandora praises her elder brother before sighing softly "But Rodolphus has always been harder on me. I think he just wants what is best for me and I appreciate that, but he's kinda scaring Xeno when I bring him home"

"That's big brothers for you, Dora" I giggle in amusement "Lucius still gives Regulus the tough guy routine whenever we're hanging out at Malfoy Manor"

"Remember when Evan and Reg kept lifting up our dresses that one summer then Lucius and Rodolphus caught them and sat them down to give them an hour long lecture about manners" Pandora recounts and I burst out laughing.

"That was hilarious. Lucius made them apologise and Rodolphus warned them if he caught them looking up our dresses again he was going to make them wear skirts for the rest of the summer" I laugh and Pandora giggles wildly.

"What are you laughing about?" Mallory announces her presence with a warm smile.

"Just reminiscing" Pandora shrugs with a grin.

"Life is moving way too fast these days" Mallory hums, plopping down onto the grass next to us and laying her head in the blonde's lap.

"Tell me about it" I scoff.

"Have you told Remus about the baby yet?" Pandora asks me curiously.

"Not yet" I frown.

"What are you waiting for?" Mallory questions.

"I don't know" I shrug unsurely "I guess I'm just scared"

"Evangeline Nyx Malfoy is scared?" Mallory gasps jokingly and I smile softly in amusement.

"Shut up, Mal" I groan.

"You just gotta tell him fast and simple. Like ripping off a plaster" Mallory advises me.

"I don't think it's that easy" Pandora counters.

"Thank you!" I huff, causing the blonde to smile while the raven haired girl rolls her eyes.

"You have to be understanding and sympathetic to his feelings because it's a big thing for him too. Tell him carefully but don't beat around the bush too much or it'll make him more worried" Pandora explains to me.

"Yeah, I think that's the best way to go about it" I agree.

"Go tell him then" Mallory encourages me.

"Now?" I blurt out in surprise.

"Now" Pandora nods, nudging my elbow.

I curse under my breath as I pull myself to my feet and Mallory slaps the back of my thigh, giving me a reassuring thumbs up.

"Good luck, Angel" Pandora smiles.

I shoot them both a smile before plucking up the courage to finally start making my way to find the Lupin boy so that I can tell him about the foetus developing in my womb.

"Whiskers!" James beams happily as I find the marauders lounging at the back of the school.

Remus is leaning against the stone wall with a cigarette between his lips and a bored look on his face while James and Sirius scratch at a pillar with a penknife and Peter snacks on sweets from his pockets.

"Hi, Prongs" I reply, approaching the boys.

"Where have you been hiding?" Sirius asks jokingly.

"Y'know, just around" I shrug with a weak smile.

My eyes trail back to Remus who smiles at me happily and I smile back at him warmly.

"Remus, can we talk?" I question.

"Oooh, Moony's in trouble" James sings teasingly, causing the other two boys to chuckle.

"Shut up, Prongs" Remus scoffs, pushing his friend before discarding his cigarette and holding his hand out to me.

I take a hold of his hand and ignore the whistles from the other three marauders as we walk away from them.

We stop near the tree line of the forbidden forest and I turn to him with a nerve wracking feeling of anxiety before we can walk any further.

"What's wrong, darlin'? You look worried" Remus asks in genuine concern, rubbing his thumb over my knuckles.

"I-I have something to tell you" I stutter out nervously.

"You got another fiancé you've been hiding from me?" He jokes but I don't laugh and that makes his smile disappear "Tell me what's going on, Evangeline"

I take a deep breath and look up at him, squeezing his hand softly.

"I'm pregnant" I admit.

We are engulfed in a horribly uncomfortable silence and my heart slams against my chest wildly as he stares down at me with a blank expression.

"Are you joking? Is this some kind of prank?" He questions, chuckling awkwardly "Did the boys put you up to this?"

"It's not a prank. I'm not joking" I tell him.

The Lupin boy's expression becomes unreadable as he lets go of my hand and my heart sinks with dread.

"It's not mine" Remus declares.

"Remus, I haven't slept with anyone else since our first time" I explain stressfully.

"Tell me that baby isn't mine, Evangeline" He pleads, his face paling in colour.

"If I did, i'd be lying to you" I reply, my eyes filling with tears.

He curses under his breath and drags his hands down his face with a pained expression, pacing away from me. The boy abruptly stops, dropping his hands and turning to me.

"I don't want it. I don't want a baby" Remus snaps at me and tears spill down my cheeks "You can't do this to me, Evangeline"

"I'm so sorry" I sob guiltily "I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry, Rem"

"No, I can't do this" He shakes his head frantically.

"Please just think about it" I beg through my tears.

"What about 'I don't want a baby' aren't you understanding?" He retorts in anger.

"I don't know what to do" I whimper.

He pauses for a mere moment before letting out an angry growl as he turns and storms away from me before I can even grab onto him.

"Remus, please don't go!" I cry out but he completely ignores me.

A broken sob slips past my lips and I feel my heart shattering in my chest as I stand in the cold courtyard alone.

I dart back in the direction I came from in hopes of finding Pandora and Mallory again but I slam right into a hard chest on the way down to the lake.

"Angel?" The boy speaks up and I look up to see Evan "Oh, gorgeous. What happened?"

"I told him about the baby, E. He doesn't want me anymore" I choke out "He was so angry"

The Rosier boy's face twists in anger and he strides past me towards the direction that Remus just went in but before he can get out of reach, I grab his arm tightly.

"I'm going to rearrange his face" Evan threatens in rage.

"Just want you to take me back to my dorm" I plead and he glances at the distance with a torn look "Please, Evan"

He sighs in defeat and wraps his arms around me tightly, letting me cling to him as I cry.

I'm apparated to my dorm room and Evan ushers me to sit down on my bed, sitting down with me as he rubs my back soothingly.

"He's not worth your tears, gorgeous" Evan tells me and I lay my head on his lap "You don't need that loser"

"He's not a loser" I defend the boy.

"Any guy who does what he just did to you is a loser in my books" Evan declares firmly.

"I'm really scared, E" I whimper worriedly.

"I've got you" He assures me.
