TUESDAY, JULY 10th 1978
I sit in front of the mirror in my childhood bedroom and I almost don't recognise the girl in front of me. Being eight months into my pregnancy, I'm positively glowing and the girl in the mirror smiles at me for the first time in a long time.
The school year has ended and with that ended my time at Hogwarts which of course I'm sad to say goodbye to, but it was always going to happen eventually. My exam results are to be mailed out soon, although my father isn't too concerned with those since after today I won't be his problem anymore.
"Knock knock" A feminine voice speaks and I turn my head to see Pandora with a smile on her face "Hi, Angel"
"Hi, Dora" I smile back at the girl warmly as she floats into the room, her satin sage green bridesmaid dress fitting her beautifully.
"Walburga sent us up here" Mallory huffs, waddling into the room behind her and my friend's bump shows under her dress that is identical to Pandora's "You'd think she's the bride from her hysterics"
I let out a quiet laugh and my friends both look to me, their eyes taking in my form as I sit at my vanity.
"You ready to get into your dress?" Mallory asks me as I clip a few light green butterflies into my blonde curls just like the clips in my girls' hair.
"Yeah, I think so" I breathe out.
Pandora offers me her hand and I pull myself up, heading over to grab the dress from where it's hung up on my closet. With a lot of difficulty, I manage to slip into my gown with the girls help and I turn to look in the full length mirror as Pandora laces up the back for me.
I stare at my reflection in awe, soothing out the large princess skirt and fixing the sweetheart neckline of the long sleeved bodice that stops just above my bump. With the amount of layers of tulle and lace, you just barely notice the bump beneath the material.
"You look beautiful, Evangeline" A deep voice speaks from the door and I tear my gaze from the mirror to see my older brother stood in his suit.
"Thank you, Lucius" I breathe out with a warm smile.
He turns to leave but I walk to my door quickly to grab onto his arm and he turns to me in confusion.
"What's wrong?" He frowns.
"If father won't be too angry about it, can you do something for me?" I question, feeling a little emotional as my eyes fog up.
"What are you asking of me?" He counters.
"Would you walk me down the aisle?" I ask my older brother and he looks surprised, looking down at me in awe.
"Evangeline-" He starts but I cut him off.
"Please, brother" I plead and he smiles warmly, taking a hold of my hand.
"As I was about to say, little sister, I'd be honoured" He tells me and relief floods my heart.
"Thank you" I smile up at him and he presses a kiss to my forehead.
I watch my brother walk away and I turn to my friends with a happy smile, them smiling right back at me. Pandora offers me my white heels which I slip on and I take a hold of each of their hand, looking at them.
"I'm not going to lie, these heels are killing my feet" I declare, making all three of us laugh.
Pandora heads over to my closet and rummages around for a few minutes before gasping, jumping up to show us something. When I catch sight of the black boots she shows us, a sad smile tugs at my lips and I take them from her as he offers me them.
"What's wrong with those?" Mallory questions in confusion.
"Nothing at all" I shrug, tracing a scuff on the side "Remus gave me them"
"Maybe it would be nice to have something with you as a little reminder of him" Pandora suggests and I nod.
I slip out of the heels and the blonde girl helps me into the boots, zipping them up for me. Just as I cover the boots with the layers of tulle, Walburga storms into the room and she pauses, looking at me with wide eyes.
"Evangeline, darling. You look magnificent" She compliments me and I smile at her gratefully.
She then looks at my friends and her awed look disappears, morphing into a look of pure control.
"Okay, let us go. Downstairs, the three of you" She demands, clapping her hands.
The woman turns and I share a grin with my girls, three of us rolling our eyes before following the woman out the door.
We reach the back door and the only person stood there waiting is my brother. Music starts to loudly play and Walburga heads out the door to go to her seat while my friends wait for their cue, Mallory exiting and Pandora following moments later.
Lucius links his arm with mine and looks down at me as I pull my veil down over my face.
"Are you ready for this?" My brother asks me with a warm smile.
"More now than I'll ever be" I reply, mirroring his smile.
The music hits the beat for my cue and we step outside into the back garden, walking over to where all the guests are sat. My older brother keeps a hold of me as he walks me down the aisle to were Regulus is waiting, Evan beside him while the girls wait on the opposite side.
Lucius delivers me to Regulus who smiles at me reassuringly and goes to sit with his wife as my fiancé takes a hold of my hands.
"Welcome, family, friends and loved ones" The priest declares as the music dies down " We are gathered here today to celebrate the marriage of Regulus and Evangeline"
"You have come here to share the commitment now they make to one another, to offer your love and support to their union, and to allow Regulus and Evangeline to start their married life together surrounded by the people dearest and most important to them" The priest speaks clearly for all to hear and I keep my eyes on my best friend as he caresses my hands soothingly "Regulus and Evangeline thank you for your presence today. They ask for your blessing, encouragement and lifelong support, for their marriage and life shared together"
The priest goes on to drone on and on about what marriage really means, although we all know that this isn't what he's explaining. I'm not marrying Regulus because our hearts yearn for each other like the priest describes. I'm marrying him because our parents have decided our fate for us.
"Regulus and Evangeline, please look at one another now and remember this moment in time" The priest tells us before looking at my best friend "Regulus, do you take Evangeline to be your wife?"
"I do" Regulus answers with a short nod.
"Evangeline, do you take Regulus to be your husband?" The priest looks to me and I hesitate, causing Regulus to squeeze my hands in warning.
"I do" I breathe out, sealing our fate.
