THURSDAY, APRIL 14th 1978
I stand in front of the bathroom mirror, my hands instinctively holding the bump that I feel is growing far too fast and I smile softly.
"You're glowing" A masculine voice speaks and I turn my head with a grin to see Regulus.
"Thank you, Reggie" I say gratefully, moving to give him a hug.
He hums in response and sways me a little, enveloping me in his warm embrace.
"We don't have to do it right now if you don't want to, princess" Regulus assures me quietly andI shake my head, pulling back a little to look up at him.
"I'm already showing and I can't hide it under big jumpers forever" I tell him and he nods in agreement, letting out a defeated sigh.
"Come on" He escorts me out of the bathroom and into the living room of the Malfoy mansion.
Regulus and I enter the room where his parents are sat on one sofa drinking tea and my father is sat in the arm chair scowling, Narcissa and Lucius on the opposite sofa.
"Why on earth have you gathered us here, daughter?" My father demands, gaining everyones attention "Out with it"
My stomach turns in anxiety and Regulus takes a hold of my hand, straightening his posture before looking at the others.
"Evangeline and I have something we'd like to share" Regulus declares, causing Walbura to perk up in interest.
"I'm pregnant" I admit, placing my free hand on my stomach.
The whole room turns silent and I try my best to gather what they are all thinking. My father's stoney expression is hard to read, but he almost seems pleased. Walburga and Orion stare at us in a mixture of shock and pride, while Narcissa and Lucius paste on encouraging smiles but I can see the concern in their expressions.
"This is wonderful!" Walburga blurts out, jumping up onto there feet and rushing over to us "You're positively glowing, my dear"
"Thank you, Mrs Black" I smile in relief.
"I'm so happy for you, Angel" Narcissa appears beside her aunt with a warm smile and hugs me shortly.
"How far along are you?" My father questions and I tear my gaze from the women in front of me.
"Four months" I answer him honestly and he merely nods.
"Oh my! Four months?" Walburga gasps in surprise and I nod "You must be wed before this child is born"
The woman swivels around to look at my father and Orion who are celebrating with a glass of whiskey.
"We have to move the wedding date, Abraxas! It must be sooner than next year" She presses in distress and I share a worried glance with Regulus.
"Well, Regulus is to turn eighteen in June. Surely it can wait till after that" Orion reasons with his wife who shoots daggers at him but says nothing in disagreement "How about July? Possibly from the 1st to the 10th?"
"July 10th it is then" My father declares, leaving no room for argument.
"I'm so very glad we have that out of the way" Orion huffs out, standing up and walking over to us where he links arms with his wife, patting Regulus' shoulder with his free hand "Congratulations, son"
Regulus nods at his father and gently pulls me into his side, letting his parents pass us to leave.
"I suppose congratulations are in order" My father sighs reluctantly, raising onto his feet to approach us "Good luck with this one, son"
My father pats Regulus on the back and exits the room with a glass of whiskey in hand, my heart deflating with the hope I never should of had to begin with. I don't know if I expected him to yell at me or be thrilled, but I didn't prepare myself for him to ignore me.
I feel a hand being placed onto my arm and I snap out of my daze to look at Narcissa, Lucius now by her side.
"You're going to be great parents" The blonde woman tells us with a warm smile.
"You think?" I ask curiously.
"I do" She nods.
"Am I going to have a niece or a nephew?" Lucius speaks up for the first time since I entered the room.
"A niece" I answer, my eyes tearing up as I look up at my big brother.
"You're going to be okay, Evangeline" He tells me firmly and I nod quickly, wiping away my tears on my sleeve.
"I'm scared, Lucius" I admit and a frown pulls at his face as Regulus squeezes my hand gently.
My brother takes a step forward next to his wife and gently takes a hold of my chin, making me look up at him.
"Keep your head up and don't stop fighting" He advises me "You're my little sister, and my little sister is not a quitter. She's a fighter"
"You're right" I agree with him and he smiles softly, patting my head like he always does.
"Congratulations, you two" He says.

I find myself stood in the middle of Malfoy manor and I frown in confusion, not knowing how I got here. My hand moves to my stomach instinctively and my heart drops when my hand lands on my smooth flat stomach.
Before I have much time to panic about the sudden loss of my bump, dark figures materialise from the shadows and I look around the room in confusion, fear creeping up my spine. I'm surrounded by death eaters, familiar faces glare back at me and the pureblooded families sneer at me in disgust.
"I should've killed you in the womb before you could fester into your pathetic self and embarrass the Malfoy name" My father's voice snarls in rage and I spot him as he steps forward with his wand in hand.
"Father, please" I plead in fear.
I take a few steps backwards until I bump into something and spin around in fright to see my mother staring back at me, her skin almost blue in colour as she grabs me.
"I told you to run, you stupid little girl!" She wails, being dragged into the darkness by masked figures.
"I'm sorry! I'm so sorry, Mother" I cry out, trying to chase her but I'm yanked backwards.
I turn around to see my father again, this time he stands behind a kneeling Remus Lupin who is in chains and try to race forward to help but I'm help back by more masked death eaters.
"Let him go!" I shriek.
"You are a disgrace, Evangeline, and it is my job to show you that your disgusting actions have consequences" My father declares, holding up his wand.
"Father, no! Stop this!" I beg the man in desperation, tears streaming down my face.
"Avada Kedavra!" My father shouts, pointing his wand at Remus and the boy's lifeless body drops to the ground.
"No!" I scream.
I'm awoken from my afternoon nap with a gasp and I sit up, looking around the Gryffindor dorm room in anxiety. When I find the room empty, I wipe the tears from my cheeks and look down to see that Remus is still asleep.
I climb out of bed and make my way over to the window, the sun shining brightly across the grounds making the most magnificent view.
As I'm watching the students wander below me, strong arms are wrapped around me and I'm pulled away from my people watching.
"Why aren't you sleeping?" Remus asks me, his voice raspy from sleep.
"I'm busy plotting murder" I answer bluntly.
"Well, that sounds...productive" He hums, sounding very unconvinced.
I let out a loud sigh and turn my head to look at him with a pout.
"I had a nightmare" I admit.
"C'mere, sweetheart" He smiles warmly, turning my body to face him and pulling me into his arms "I've got you now"
"I love you, Remus" I mumble into his shirt, hugging him tightly.
"And I love you, cub" He murmurs, kissing my head.
