Today is Nandini and Manik's engagement day. It will take place in near by hall of Nandini's house. It's 6:30 am and everyone are in rush.

Nandini's house was filled with gifts, some guest had already come and some are yet to come. Her mother and elders were all worked up.

Nandini came out of the washroom around 11:00 AM only to get shocked by someone who hugged her tightly.

"Nandini!!!!!!" The girl back hugged her making her scared but soon relax knowing it is her best friend.

"Pagal hai kya? Dara diya Prachi! Aur tune itna time kyun lagaya?" Nandini asked holding her hands.

"Acha...toh tune bhi mujhe kahan bataya ki teri shadi fix ho gayi hai. Agar aunty mujhe phone kar ke bulati nahi na kal toh shayad mujhe tere bacche hone ke baad hi pata chalta." She said dragging it a bit dramatic making her glare at her.

"Acha... Maine...." Before she could complete her mother shouted at her.

"Ab yahi khadi rahogi ya taiyar bhi hogi? Vakt dekha hai? Muhurat nikal jayega."

"Acha...chal tujhe ready hone mein help karti hun. Kahan tu apni mummy ke dant khati rahegi woh bhi apni sagai ke din." Her friend Prachi said making her sigh. They entered in her room and saw Navya getting ready.

"Waah! Bhai! Dulhan ke pehle hi dulhan ki behen ready. Kya baat hai?" Prachi said to which Navya replied

"Woh kya hai na di...aapki aur meri jo behen hai na woh bahut hi lazy hai aur mujhe mummy se dant nahi khani. Abhi jaldi jaldi taiyar ho jao..isse pehle ki bhukam aa jaye."

Nandini sighed and dropping the curtain she changed into her saree and came out.

"Vaise Nandini...aapke woh kaise hai?" Prachi asked to which she frowned and came towards her.

"Ab woh kaun hai?" She asked being confused and settled on the bed so that Prachi can do her make up.

"Arey! Woh yaane mere jiju. How is he?" Nandini smiled remembering their moments.

"He is nice. Mujhe ache se treat karte hai. Aur shayad unhi ke vajah se main college bhi join karungi. Varna tumhe toh pata hi hai maa ka reaction." Prachi bobbed her head completed her make up. It took almost an hour for it. Once done she made her look in the mirror.

They moved out since it was almost time and they had leave for the engagement place.

"Chalo chalo sab....late nahi hona hai hume." Her mother said taking everything that is needed. They had booked a small mini bus since only few of them were there and some were supposed to come directly at the spot.

After like 20 minutes they reached the place and went inside to see everything was decorated nicely and even pandit ji was ready. But what shocked was Malhotras already over there. They felt embarrassed knowing they were late and were supposed to welcome them.

"Maaf kijiyega thodi deri ho gayi. Woh ghar ke kaam hi khatam nahi hote aise mauke pe." Mr. Sharma said to which Manik's dadi taunted.

"Ji, ghar ke kaam toh humare bhi the. Yeh jagah humse kahi door hai aur aapki kareeb. Aapse pehle toh hum hi pahuch gaye...kya fayda itne paas vale mein hall mein engagement rakhne ki agar aapko late hi aana tha toh?" Mr. Sharma looked down again apologising.

"Yeh dadi hai ya hitler? Seriously...aisa kaun kehta hai? Upar se bas 10 minute late huye hai aur muhurat ko 1/2 ghanta baki hai. Huh!" Prachi said to which Navya also agreed but Nandini glared at them.

"Pagal ho kya? Koi sun lega." She said to which they rolled their eyes.

"Dadi! Enough. Pahuch gaye na. Hum swagat kare ya woh kare baat toh ek hi hai." Manik said calming down the situation which made Sharmas sigh in relief but Malhotras sigh is disbelief.

"Chaliye...sagai shuru karte hai." Pandit ji called them, whole family surrouned Nandini and Manik who were sitting beside each other. Their parents gave them shagun and soon were asked to exchange the rings.

Once the exchange of rings were done it was time to exchange shagun among the families. By this time the photographer was clicking pictures of everyone.

Manik and Nandini were standing with Prachi and Navya who were busy talking with their (Jiju).

"So! Ab aap hume bataye ki aapko humari dost cum behen kaisi lagi?" Prachi asked to which Manik chuckled and smiled. His eyes fell on Nandini who was blushing looking down.

"Beautiful." His one word made her shiver.

"Lagegi kyun nahi...maine jo taiyar kiya hai. Acha...aapse kuch important baat karni hai." Saying this she dragged him away from Nandini who frowned looking at them.

"Don't worry didi... Prachi di sambhal legi." Saying this Navya went away leaving her all alone.

Here Manik asked Prachi what she wanted to say.

"You know... Nandini is really calm and delicate person and I really don't want any bad things to happen with her. I'm happy you and your family allowed her to study further. Her dreams means a lot to her. Her family wouldn't have agreed if you wouldn't have. I just have one request. Don't let her fall down on her way to success. She is of my age but she is way mature than anyone but still has a different side and I want you to be with her all the time." Prachi let put her all the worries. Manik was proud knowing Nandini has such a great friend.

"Don't worry Prachi. I will be with her in every step of her life. I promise you that. Abhi smile. She will say I scolded seeing tears in your eyes." She chuckled listening him and bobbed her head.

His bhabhi saw him laughing with Prachi. She sighed and went up to them.

"Agh! Manik jara idhar aana. Excuse me." Prachi nodded her head went towards Nandini.

"Bhabi! Stop pulling me." Manik said as she pulled him towards the corner.

"Tum aise dant dikha kar hason mat uske sath. Logon ko kuch aur hi lagega. Aur upar sagai ho gayi tumhari. Thoda toh sharam karo." Listening her choice of words Manik felt anger rushing in his veins.

"Bhabhi...aap kuch bhi bole ja rahe ho. Woh Nandini ki best friend hai aur meri bhi. Logon ko jo sochna hai soche. Mujhe sirf Nandini ki soch se matlab hai. Aur aap apne pati pe dhyan dijiye." Saying this he pointed at Vivek who was talking to his wife's sister who was leaning on him.

"Woh meri behen hai. I know her and stop pointing at your brother. Apni honewali biwi pe dhyan do." Saying this she went away making Manik glare at her back.

Sighing he went back to Nandini who was looking worried. He smiled to which she also returned it.

"Sab theek hai?" She asked pointing his bhabhi to which he just bobbed his head. Soon the food was served and they had enjoyed it throughly.
