As the days were passing so was Nandini settling herself in her new house. It's 1 & 1/2 month to their marriage and until now she did face here and there disappointments among the family except for Manik who was always there for her support.

Today Nandini came a bit early than expected from the college. Her head was paining badly due to the heat so she decided to skip the college.

"Arey, tum itni jaldi aa gayi?" Neonika asked seeing her entering inside.

"Ji maa, woh lectures cancel ho gaye the." She mentally apologized for lying but she didn't want them to know inorder to listen their taunts.

"Accha! Chalo accha hua tum jaldi aa gayi. Sneha apne maike jaane wali hai kal aur hume diwali ki shopping bhi karni hai. Tum jara list bana lo samagri ki. Pehle jao naha dho lo." Bobbing her head she moved to freshen up.

She soon came out of her room all freshed in simple dark blue kurta and sky blue plazo.

She was feeling drained out today, her body was unknowingly feeling light to her to balance herself. She entered the kitchen and helped Neonika knowing her sister-in-law is busy in packing.

"Maa, hum nikal rahe hai." Sneha came inside to inform her.

"Arey! Khana kha ke jao na." Neonika said as she was stering the curry.

"Nahi maa. Ghar par mummy ne already khana bana diya hai aur agar vahan nahi khaungi toh naraz ho jayengi." She replied to which Neonika sighed and bobbed her head.

"Lekin bhabhi, itna sara khana ban chuka hai. Thoda toh kha ke jaiye." Nandini said to which Sneha denied and she and Vivek left from there.

"Nandini, chapatti bas 6 hi banana, sirf main, tum aur maa ji hai ghar mein. Manik aur Manik ke papa aane toh wale hai nahi. Main aati hun." Nandini bobbed her head and continued her work. She completed her work and settled herself to drink water.

It was 12:30 right now and there was still time for the lunch. She got up and putting the remaining dough in the fridge she went to her room to lay down for time being.

Around 1:30 they trio settled to have their lunch. Todays food was quite spicy making Nandini difficult to have it. She was coughing badly making Neonika worried.

"Itna teekha ban gaya kya? Main kuch aur bana dun?" Neonika asked passing her the water.

"Nahi maa, bas yeh chapatti aur sabji kha lungi. Yeh utna teekha nahi hai." She replied lying about the spiceness of the vegetable. They completed the lunch and Nandini went back to her room as Neonika said she will clear out the kitchen.

Evening 5:30 PM

Nandini opened her eyes due to the alarm which she had put. She twisted her body and got up from the bed only to get shock.

"Shit! Wasn't my periods after 3 days. Ugh!" She cribled taking of the bedsheet she threw it in the bucket and taking a new dress and sanitary napkins she went to freshen up. Luckily there was no one in the living room.

She washed the bedsheet and changed her dress and washed the dirty clothes. When she came out Manik also entered in the house holding a polythene bag.

He smiled seeing her after a long time but frowned seeing her in pain.

"All okay?" He asked passing the polythene to which she shook her head.

"Give it to mom. I can't touch." Listening her he frowned but then realised why so. He sighed and went into the kitchen to keep it and she went on the terrace to put the clothes for drying.

Later on all were having evening which was made by Neonika since Nandini was not allowed in the kitchen.

"Neonika, Vivek abhi tak nahi aaya?" Dadi asked looking at the time.

"Usne phone karke bataya ki aaj voh vahi rahega."

"Aaj hi kyun? Saal bhar vahi rehne ko bolo. Nahi toh ghar jamai ban jaane ko bolo." Manik sighed in dis belief and continued to have his tea.

While having dinner Nandini was told to sit seperately but when Manik saw her sitting far from them he got angry.

"Mom! Kitni baar bola hai aise superstition ko follow mat karo. Kuch nahi milta yeh sab karke. Nandini come here and sit." Manik said but Nandini shook her head not wanting to face any taunts.

"Kyun yeh sab kar rahe ho tum Manik? Jo sadiyon se chala aa raha hai usko follow karna koi buri baat nahi hai. Aur to aur yeh uski bhalai ke liye hai." Listening his dadi he rolled his eyes.

"Ismein kya bhalai hai dadi? Apno se door baith kar khana? Ek separate plate dena? Kitchen mein na jana, kapdon ko hath nahi lagana. Isse kya hota hai? Nandini I'm telling you for the last time come and sit here." He said sternly making her plead him through her eyes. He glared at her and said

"Fine! Vahi baitho aur khao." Saying this he got up and went to his room making all sigh.

"Pata nahi isko har cheez se kyun problem hai. Nandini tum khana khao." Dadi said eating one morsel.

"Lekin...unhone khane ko hath bhi nahi lagaya." Nandini mumbled looking at her plate.

"Nandini, yeh plate leke jao room mein. Vahi khalo tum dono. Woh toh sunne wala hai nahi." Saying this Neonika filled one more plate and gave her. She agreed and stood up taking hers and his plate and went up to their room.

"Neonika, tum sab bhool rahi ho kya?" Dadi asked making her sigh.

"Maa, aaj kal ke bacche nahi samjhte woh sab. Rehne dijiye na."

"Huh! Karo jo karna hai. Main toh mar gayi hun na." She mumbled and continued eating.

Here in the room when Nandini entered she sighed seeing him sitting on the phone using his phone.

"Aap bina khana khaye kyun aa gaye upar?" He ignored her question making her sigh.

"Manik, kyun aap baar baar bahes karte ho? Dadi bura maan jati hai." He glared at her and asked

"Tumhe unko bura lagta hai woh dikhta hai lekin mujhe jab bura lagta hai tab tumhe kuchh farak nahi. Huh! I don't understand why do they make you all feel like untouchables. Just because you are bleeding? I know you need rest. Rest lena matlab untouchable jaisa nahi feel karvana hota hai. I still hate this!" Nandini knew he is correct but she didn't really wanted any drama.

"Main samaj gayi aapki baat. Abhi khana lijiye. Already I'm feeling tired and I don't have any patience to fight." Nandini said sitting on the bed beside. Manik sighed and took the plate and they both had food silently.

"Are you free next week?" He asked keeping the plate aside.

"Kyun?"

"Wanted to take you for shopping. Diwali aa rahi hai, toh socha ki kuch naye kapde khareedatey hai."

"Theek hai. Main mera schedule check karke batati hun." He bobbed his head and looked at her tired figure who was already worn out. He sighed and hugged her from behind making her startled.

"Nandini, don't tire yourself so much. Let these plates be here only. Do you want something?" He asked her in a hushed voice making her take a deep breath.

"Can we have ice cream please?" She asked sweetly looking at him. He smiled brightly and bobbed his head. ;
He told her to get freshen up and come. He went down with the plates and washed them and kept it on it's place since no one was thede in the living room.

Soon Nandini came and without making noise they went to have some ice cream. They were walking holding each other's hand towards the vendor.

They soon had their ice cream and taking 5 more ice cream they went to their house. Around 11 clock they reached their house, keeping the ice creams in the fridge they went to sleep.
