hey everyone! thank you all for reading! in this chapter i'd like to explain a couple things pertaining to the content of this book, the history of this book, and a couple of other things. if you don't want to read this, that's totally okay. this chapter is completely skippable. thank you all again!

this book was written as my first anniversary special and due to this, it doesn't fit the usual mold on my profile on being not only a fanfiction, but also a work on mental health education or social issue awareness. this is plainly just simply a fic lol.

but there are some things i'd still like to discuss.

first of all, wooyoung's character and prior life experiences was almost completely based off of myself (as of september actually, a couple of things have changed in my life since then hehe). because this book is a special for my followers, i thought it would be nice to allow you all to learn a bit about me while also giving you all a book. boom! double whammy!

literally everything on wooyoung's character is based off of me. the real life situation in the classroom in the first chapter was actually literally just a day in my life. seonghwa in this was actually equivalent to the crush i had at the beginning of this school year. (fun fact, even the other crushes described were real too. i was literally just describing the other two of my previous crushes who coincidentally are also in my first class and sit near the irl park seonghwa equivalent. funny, huh?)

even though i actually didn't go to neverland in real life (i wish though it sounds cool), i still based wooyoung's choices and such on what i felt i would do in those situations, then i just wrote them out to words.

uh oh. now you know everything about me.

but then there is another thing. san and wooyoung's relationship.

i wanted to make san and wooyoung in this as two people that both have issues of their own, yet they help each other as their flaws kind of compliment(?) each other if that makes any sense. i hope i portrayed that well.

unlike wooyoung and seonghwa, peter san, the lost boys, captain hookjoong, and smeengi were all not based on real people. peter san, captain hookjoong, and smeengi were who they were simply because, erm, p u n s. (the fact that those three members made perfect pun names with peter pan names makes me belive that ateez was made for this you literally can not convince me otherwise i swear) because of this, i kinda attempted to mesh the personalities of the characters from the original peter pan with the ateez members irl, but it kinda failed and some of their personalities don't align oops.

i'd like to quickly mention that most of my knowledge on peter pan was based off of the 2003 movie, peter pan. y'know, the one with jeremy sumpter. it was the one i grew up on and a lot of the plot and a bit of peter san's personality was based off of the peter pan from that movie. (also peter san's look and abilities) the first few bits of the plot in this book was loosely based off of the first few bits of that movie, after that it completely strayed away from it.

for smeengi and captain hookjoong, i kinda wanted to pull a gaston and lefou from the live action beauty and the beast remake in which lefou is very highkey in love with gaston lmao. without removing the integrity of the two original peter pan characters, i tried to insert a similar dynamic to them which i hope i portrayed well.

also fun fact, apparently according to the disney wiki, lefou was based off of mr. smee so like... coincidence? hmm...

the lost boys on the other hand, were completely different from the original. because there were originally six and there were only three ateez members left (plus i wanted to keep this book exclusively ateez) i had no choice but to just completely revamp them. other than the fact that they are now older teens (though i also made peter san and wooyoung which we could technically equivalate to wendy also older teens) i tried to make the three have different extreme personalities while also having a fun "family" dynamic. 

lastly on the topic of characters, i wanted to quickly mention shiber, which is the equivalent to tinker bell in this book. i needed some sort of magical equivalent and i didn't know what. i could've made another member a fairy, but i couldn't really see any of them as that and as san's sidekick. (also doing so would only leave two members to be lost boys and that would be too few) so i had to think of something else. i thought about something that could be used as san's sidekick and boom, i realized shiber existed. so i used shiber as the perfect cute sidekick and instead of being a fairy, he's a spirit guide. it's perfect! :D

anyways, this book was super fun to write. ever since i've seen some of those books around wattpad where they combine characters from a group and a plot or concept from another form of media, i've always wanted to do one. i did actually have two other ideas on one to do other than ateez x peter pan being ateez x night at the museum (the general plot synopsis being that wooyoung becomes the night time janitor and falls for san the knight from the medieval exhibit or something like that lol) and ateez x marvels' venom (the general plot synopsis being very similar to the 2018 venom movie in which san was eddie and wooyoung was anne) if you guys want to read them, let me know! i very highkey want to write both of them anyways so i might do both eventually lmao.
