(A.N. im really slow. sorry hoes)

"Rosie there's someone here for you!" my mom's voice rang out from the front door.

I slowly walked down the stairs to see Gwen Blake at my door. Her face lit up with glee as she saw me and she ran in the house and gave me a hug. "Hey Gwenney," I smiled and stroked her hair. "What do I owe seeing you on this fine Saturday afternoon, m'lady?" I spoke in a english accent.

"Oh, not much. Only that its Finney's game today," she looked up at me.

"Oh my gosh I forgot about that. That's today?" I rambled.

She just slowly nodded her head. "What time is it at?" I asked.

"One."

I looked at the grandfather clock to the right of me. 12:33. Shoot.

"I need to change, Gwen," I held out my pajama top.

"Ooh can I stay?" her excitement filled the room.

"Sure hun."

The two of us made it to my room and I began rustling through all my clothes. Gwen was searching through my closet for something for me. "What about this?" she held up a navy blue work shirt that I had gotten at a thrift store on the way to Denver.

"Yes! And I can wear it withhhh," I drew out the 'th'.

I looked around my pants' drawer and my eyes landed on a pair of acid washed shorts. "These," I brought them up in accomplishment.

After I had changed and gotten ready, the time read 12:56. "Dang, Gwen we better go if we wanna be there on time."

(✿✿time skip bc writer's block is real✿✿)

We put our bikes up and headed to the bleachers. The game had already started so we awkwardly scooted across people to find an empty spot.

When we sat down, Finney noticed us and waved his hand ecstatically towards us. Gwen laughed heartily and responded with a wave, as so did I.

"He's soooo-," Gwen spoke incoherently.

"What?" I was caught off guard.

"Nothing," she shrunk down into her seat, smiling.

"Alright then," spoke as I caught the eye of another boy.

He was leaned up against the fence on his section of the opposing team. He had black soft-looking hair and a lean but muscular stature, he also had the most adorable face ever. I'm assuming Asian? He smirked at me and sent a little salute to me. I felt the blood rise to my cheeks as I sent a soft wave back. He bagan to whisper and point to me to his friends, so I returned the favor. "Hey, Gwenney?"

"Mmmhhh?" she buzzed.

"Who's that?" I pointed to the Asian boy smiling at me.

"Uhh I think that's Bruce Yamada," she spoke. "Him and Finney usually play back to back and I have seen them practice together a couple times. Why?"

"Oh, okay," I looked down at my lap. "No reason."

The game went on and it approached the end. Finney was pitching and he has a hell of an arm. And just my luck, because Bruce was batting. He sent me a low nod before attempting to hit Finn's approaching ball, but missed.

Second time, missed. The crowd was on the edge of their seat at this point.

Third time, Finn inhaled and let out a brief exhale. He geared back and threw the ball back with full force. This time, Bruce hit it. And it became a home-run. Gwen's face fell and a disappointed look washed over her features. I pretended to clap for 'Bruce' as his teammates ran up to him and were jumping on him and congratulating him.

Finn looked the most sad. His face was aimed at the ground and his head hung low. I got up and pulled Gwen with me as I walked into the stadium. Both teams had just finished congratulating each other and Finn still looked sad.

"Hey Finn," I spoke soothingly as I hugged him. "You did great, man!"

"Thanks, but it wasn't good enough," he didn't look up at me once.

"It'll be okay Finney," Gwenn patted his arm.

Just as we were comforting Finn, the boy came up to him. "Hey," he spoke to Finn.

Finn raised his head to meet the boy's. "Good game. Your arm is mint. You almost had me there," Bruce smiled.

Finn gave a slight chuckle. The boy turned to me. "And I don't think I've ever seen you around here before. I'm Bruce," he extended his hand out to me.

"I'm new here, and I'm Rosalyn," I reciprocated the motion as I shook his hand.

His hand was soft and he was so careful yet firm with his grasp. "Pretty name," he smiled at me.

"Thanks," I grinned up at him.

"Hey, Finn," Finn looked to Bruce. "Do you wanna come get ice cream with us? I mean all of you can come but I'm mostly wondering if you'd be up for it."

"Uh, I think I'll pass," Finn gave a weak smile. "Thanks though."

"Oh okay," Bruce's smile faltered. "That's fine! We'll have to hang out some other time, especially with you," he turned to me.

I felt that blush flow back to my cheeks "Well, I'll see you guys around. Bye."

We all waved at him as he left the arena. "Hey Finn, don't take it to heart. I think it'll be okay. Take it as a grain of salt," Gwen gave him a big hug.

"Yeah," Finn sighed as his head sunk down. "Let's just go home."

Finn began to walk out of the stadium as me and Gwen were close behind. "Don't worry," Gwen whispered. "He'll feel better in no time. We just gotta find something to cheer him up."

An idea arises in my head. "How about we all go to the store?" I smiled at Gwen. "My treat."

"We would love that," Gwen said with relief over her features.
