Part Eight (Albert's P.O.V)
Two pairs of paws skid across mud, causing prints to show across. Draft slid down a hill, pointing with his muzzle. "Albert, look!" Albert threw mud off him, then glanced where Draft was pointing, it was a huge building colored dark red. Draft lifted his head, then slid down the hill on Albert's command. "Wait, Draft." Draft stopped, confused. "What?" Albert bent down, and touched his nose to the grass, then checked for anymore scents. Wait..I smell more scents now.. "There's more foxes..." Draft looked ahead, then started running, until he skid to a stop, right outside. Albert's eyes widened, and he began to regret ever coming there, but he remembered why he came with Draft in the first place, then darted ahead, being as quiet as he can. Albert whispered to Draft, looking around. "How will we get in? They'll know we're here if we go through the main way in." Draft thought for a second then smirked, looking up at a opening in the building. Albert's eyes widened, and he shook his head with a short hushed bark. "Are you insane?! What if I fall from there?!" Draft shifted his gaze, almost looking annoyed. "Albert, remember who you're doing this for. I can boost you up and all you have to do is grab on." Albert's heart pounded as he imagined Vanilla getting torn to shreds by foxes. She's all that's been on his mind, and her getting killed would only make that worse. He took a breath, then puffed out his chest. "Okay, I'll do it." Draft backed up a bit, and stood right underneath it. Albert stood back for a few moments, took a huge breath, then jumped onto Draft's back, and was able to fling himself in the air, but didn't even get close to the opening before he fell back down. "I can't do it, Draft. We have to give up." Draft casted an annoyed glare, then showed a half smirk, then padded behind Albert. "Don't hold back!" Before Albert could question, Draft lifted him up by his jaws, and threw him into the air. Shock hit him, and he quickly clung onto the opening with his paws. The pouring rain almost made him slip, but he raised to his paws quickly, fear running through him. Before he could growl at Draft for throwing him, he lifted his muzzle to the air, and he could faintly smell something. No, it can't be.. The world fell silent, and all Albert felt was rage. Vanilla's...blood.. A snarl showed on his face, and he had the same urge he had when Arrow was training him. I..I need to kill. He changed his gaze to inside the building, where there was a mostly brown fox, pacing around. Albert outstretched his claws, and without thinking, he got ready to jump in. He imagined he could easily slip his claw around it's throat, and he flicked his tail, waiting for the right moment to strike. He watched as the fox began to gather up bones, and grabbed some brown material, grouping it together. As soon as it turned it's back, Albert didn't waste any time, and quickly jumped from the opening, and lunged at the fox, growing his paws around its throat, taking it by surprise. Dust kicked up, causing the room to seem stuffy. Albert bared his jaws, then loudly growled. "YOU ASSHOLE-" The fox let out a large shriek, trying to fight back, but Albert sunk his claws deeper. "WHAT DID YOU DO TO HER?!" It made a hoarse noise, and spoke in a whispered voice. "Please, I'll tell you, just let me go.." Albert let down his guard, and took his paws off. Albert's chest pounded, maybe jumping from that high up was a bad idea. While Albert was distracted, the fox extended it's legs, and kicked Albert off, with a menacing growl. It leaped onto him, and extended it's claws. Albert swung at it, but it quickly moved out of the way. Before it could strike, Albert pinned its tail, leaving it helpless, with a jagged squeal of pain. Through the fighting, Albert heard Draft distantly and muffled, saying "Uhm, Albert ..you should probably stop fighting now.." But he didn't listen, he kept his claws on it's tail as it struggled to break free. It turned around, and Albert raised his claw to strike, but the fox quickly grabbed his paw, and raked the side of his face with its claws. Dark red blood dripped from Albert's face, and it stung like a thorn. He stood still, then growled, running full force at it. He took it off guard, and flung it to the wall, with a hard crash. Before it could scramble away, Albert pressed his paw to it's throat, and it lost power, and turned weak. Albert looked through it's skull at it's eyes, and smirked. He slowly unslid his claws, and before he could land a killing strike, the door's swung open, hitting the side of the building both with loud thuds. A cold gust of wind flew in, along with a sprinkle of rain. Shocked gasps of horror sounded as Albert turned his head to the door, Vanilla just stood there.. motionless, along with two.. foxes? Wait, Vanilla? I thought- He looked down at the body of the fox, it's body limp with a blood splatter. He looked back at Vanilla, and ran to comfort her, just happy she wasn't hurt. "Vanilla, I thought you seriously got hu-" She ran past him, with a loud whimper, followed by the two foxes. "Skull!" They all said in sync, sitting beside the fox. What is going on?! He followed behind, his mind whirled with confusion. Staying a small distance behind Vanilla, she hunched over the fox's body, and fell silent. The world seemed to drip with grief, and Albert looked back at Draft, a look of gloom showed on his face, and for a second all he heard was indistinct whimpers from a red, small fox. He stared back, and broke the silence with a voice of regret. "Vanilla..-" Before he could speak again, Vanilla turned around, her tone seemed to be full of a mix of anxiety, fury, and restlessness. She didn't show her face, but her paw seemed to dig into the ground. "Albert, go back to the pack. Nobody needs you here." With a short growl, those words sent a chill down Albert's spine. He pushed on, with a sort of disobedient stomp with his paw. "Vanilla, you can't stay here! The pack needs you, I need you.." Once he heard a loud growl rumbling in front of him, he backed up a few paw-steps. Vanilla turned her head, exposing a hurt paw. She bent low to the group with a furious stare. "You must have some FUCKING NERVE to come here, ruin my life, then expect me to come running back to you!" A loud growl sounded across the building. Fear struck through Albert, and he turned to Draft. With a sigh, the wolf still standing at the beginning of the building motioned Albert over with his tail. "Come on, Albert..we should be getting back to the pack now.." This time, instead of arguing, Albert sat up and walked out. Before he left, he took one more long look at Vanilla, the life he used to have faded away. Loud rain thumped the ground as the door opened, and Albert's voice hung low and quiet as he said his last parting line. "I'm sorry."
