🜸 ›› BACKSTORY OVERVIEW - born and raised in the heart of south korea, gyuyoung grew up in the spotlight. with both his parents being well known musicians in the country, he was constantly having photos taken of him and eventually grew to despise it. although his parents, when he was a child, doted on him constantly, he never truly felt like they loved him.

that feeling grew more when he entered middle school, as he was then old enough to "take care of himself." his parents were rarely home, always doing concerts or photoshoots with their brand deals. he couldn't blame them for wanting to release music while their names were still always on headlines, but it had gotten to a point where he felt unloved by his own parents. when gyuyoung turned 15, his parents urged him to pursue the idol career, much to his dismay. however, he agreed, and joined the program "project memory," later placing 2nd in the finale and debuting in the temporary group, e.cho.

much to his shock, gyuyoung genuinely enjoyed being an idol, and decided he would continue down that path after e.cho's disbandment. he was scouted by aspen media shortly before his contract with lunar media/e.cho was about to expire, so he signed and was almost instantly placed in the debut lineup for their first boy group. when he started, however, he almost passed out when he saw the four figures in the practice room that day.
