Everyone had piled up into the back of Nancy's car. Andrea looked at Eleven who was laying on the ground of the car while Nancy slid into the driver's seat before trying to get the ignition to start. Though it never did.
Andrea looked up through the car to the driver's seat trying to figure out what the problem was. Every time Nancy tried to turn the key the engine would make a sputtering noise. Andrea watched in confusion seeing the look on the two teenagers' faces.
"What's wrong?" Jonathan asked as he looked at Nancy.
"I don't..." Nancy trailed off as she continued to fight with her car, "I don't know."
The engine of the car continued to make a sputtering noise. The lights of the mall illuminated the car. Andrea had an eyebrow raised as she looked between the rest of the kids who seemed on edge. A sigh left the girl's lips.
"You can't be serious! Come on!" Nancy yelled at her car as it continued to not work.
"Didn't your mom just buy this car?" Lucas found himself asking as everyone tried to figure out why they weren't going anywhere.
"Yes. I'm sure it's fine," Nancy answered, the girl obviously being annoyed.
"Did you leave the lights on?" Will asked as he tried to help.
"No," Nancy snapped as she continued to fumble with the keys.
"Do we have gas?" Lucas now questioned, no one knew why the car would not be working.
"YES!" Nancy yelled at him.
"Calm your horses," Andrea yelled up.
Nancy continued to be aggressive with her car. Harshly turning the keys and in a way, beating the car up. No wonder it won't work, Andrea couldn't help but think. Andrea knew Nancy was stressed but Jesus, she needed to chill.
"Come on!" Nancy yelled as she jerked the key.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa! Just stop, stop!" Jonathan grabbed his girlfriend's arm before opening the door, "Pop the hood."
Andrea watched as Jonathan exited the car. Nancy followed soon after as they stood under the hood of the vehicle. Questions left all of the teenagers, everyone was confused. Though, when were they not? Confusion was a constant thing.
Andrea's head turned at the sound of an engine roaring. Everyone watched as bright lights flashed in their direction. Billy's car now sat a few feet away with the engine revving, no doubt getting ready to speed into all of them.
Nancy hit against the window before opening the doors, "GO! GO! GO!"
Nancy and Jonathan continued to yell at the kids as everyone jumped out of the car. They were being forced back into the mall. The place that they were trying to get away from. Mike and Max tried to carry Eleven as fast as possible before everyone ended up sitting in the food court once more.
This could not get any better.
Andrea watched as Mike paced around with his walkie in his hand. She knew that he was trying to get ahold of the so-called "Scoops Troop" though she was sure he had yet to get an answer due to every few seconds his repetition of words.
"Scoop Troop, do you copy?" He'd repeated over and over again, "Scoop Troop, I repeat, do you copy? We're trapped in the mall and in need of emergency transportation."
Andrea watched as everyone tried to find some sort of way to hold Billy off in case their ride wouldn't come. In case there wasn't anyone else who could save the day. Lucas continued to pull back and prepare himself to use his slingshot.
"Scoops Troop, do you copy? Billy has found us," Mike repeated as he continued to walk in the same circle before taking a seat on one of the chairs that had been left, "Scoops Troop, do you copy? Billy has found us! He has disabled our car and we are trapped in the mall."
What is that going to do? They aren't answering. We're trapped, Andrea was getting annoyed with Mike. She knew he was desperate for a way out though - after all, his girlfriend's life was on the line due to the monster going after her.
"Repeat: Billy has disabled our car and we are trapped in the mall," Mike repeated once again as Nancy took guns off the bodies of the Russians, checking to make sure they were loaded before getting ready to use them.
Though, Max stood in front of Nancy, "You're going to kill him aren't you?" Max clearly was worried behind her scolding face, Andrea knew that she was.
"This is just a precaution, okay?" Nancy questioned as she held the gun in her hands, still crouching on the ground next to the body.
"And not just against Billy," Will added as he looked over at Max, "If he knows we're here, so does the Mind Flayer."
Andrea could tell how worried Will was as well. Sure, he had been through this type of thing before but that never made it any less traumatizing. Will had been through so much at such a young age, it was truly sad.
"Scoops Troop, I repeat, we are in need of emergency transportation," Mike repeated once again through the walkie.
"Mike, I doubt they are at Cerebro yet," Andrea looked over at Mike as he began to pace around the mall yet again, "Sit down for a minute."
Mike ignored Andrea's words as he continued to walk around, "Do you copy?" He added to get nothing but radio static, "Scoops Troop, do you copy? STEVE, DO YOU COPY?!"
"No change that thing will drive," Nancy looked over at the car which had been flipped over.
"We don't need it to drive," Jonathan realized as he looked at Nancy, "We just need the ignition cable."
Now, everyone was lined up trying to push this thing back. Andrea tried to push it but it didn't seem to budge. Andrea moved back over the counter as the glass budged. She would've used her abilities to do it but Nancy told her not to, she knew how the girl did not like using her abilities but she also knew that they would be needed at another time.
"Let me try," Eleven spoke as she stood beside Will.
"El..." Mike was panting as he looked at her.
Eleven let out a sigh before stating, "I can do it."
Everyone moved out of the way so that the girl could try. Everyone moved behind her. She began to breathe heavily and the most you could hear was the small shake of the car. Though it still did not move.
"Let me do it," Andrea placed a hand on the girl's shoulders.
"Could've done that sooner," Max found herself retorting before Andrea turned to look at her, "Last time I checked, Nancy told me not to."
"Sorry," Max looked back at the ground before sighing.
Andrea turned back to the car. Holding her hand out as she focused on the low vibrations around her. It didn't take long before the car started to shake, then it fell back onto its side. Causing a bit of metal to fall off until the group ran over to it.
Andrea watched as Nancy and Jonathan walked over before trying to get the hood to open. Although, both seemed to forget they needed to open it from the inside of the car.
"How do we get it open?" Nancy asked as she tried to pull it up.
"There should be a button," Jonathan responded as he pointed in the car, "You see it?"
"I don't know, hold on," Nancy leaned further into the car as she looked around before pressing buttons.
Max and Mike stood off to the side. Max watched as Eleven dug through one of the mall trash cans causing Andrea to make a face.
"What is she doing?" Max questioned, causing Mike to turn around as well.
Andrea watched as she finally found what she was looking for, a can of coke. She placed it on the counter before trying to use her powers on it. Though, Andrea watched as nothing happened. Mike and Max walk over to her disturbing it.
Andrea felt her stomach drop and a shiver of cold air hit her. She began to look around and she noticed as Will looked at her, his hand going to the back of his neck. He's here... Max looked up at the sky as the sound of pounding footsteps shook the glass.
The footsteps got louder and louder. The ground of the mall began to shake causing a few things to start to crack.
"EVERYONE GET DOWN!" Andrea yelled as the kids stared in shock.
"NANCY!" Mike yelled at his sister before the snarl of the creature came through.
"COME ON!" Mike and Andrea yelled as they began to push everyone out of the way, trying to get them out of there.
The glass continued to shatter behind them. Andrea shrieked as the entire glass panel that covered the top of the mall fell in. Shards of glass now fall from the sky as if it were rain. Deadly rain.
The creature hit the floor of the mall. Causing everyone to drop down wherever they were in fear. Andrea grabbed a hold of Will as the two ducked behind a counter. The creature roared and shrieked loudly.
"Griswold Family, this is Scoops Troop! Do you copy? Over!" Dustin's voice came over the static of the radio as Andrea tried to even out her breathing, "Griswold Family, I repeat this is Scoops Troop. Do you copy? DO YOU COPY?!" Even after the monster yelled into it and smashed it, the others still tried to talk.
"This is Scoops Troop, Griswold Family please confirm your safety! Griswold Family, this is Scoops Troop! Please confirm your safety! Are you en route to Bald Eagle's nest?"
Andrea looked over at Will, both sharing a look of fear as the monster prayed around. Trying to figure out where they were. Andrea sat behind the car with Will, Jonathan, Nancy, and Lucas.
"I'll be back," Andrea whispered quietly.
"What?" Lucas whisper-shouted.
"Give me a second," Andrea gave the rest of the group a look despite them shaking their heads.
Andrea slid from the car and began to climb over one of the counters. Ignoring the shriek of the creature as she went through the various food places. She had to cover her mouth to stop herself from screaming when a large arm shot over the counter before hitting the wall and retreating.
She continued to slide over. Hoping she could get near the broken walkie and slid it over to her and try to send some kind of code. Tears slid down her face the girl regretted slapping her hand due to the pain that erupted from the gash.
"Please confirm your safety! Someone please, just answer! Just answer! Anyone, please!"
Andrea stopped moving as she heard the monster begin to snarl around. She laid her back on the ground making sure that she could not be seen from over the counter or from under the small doors or in any reflection.
She watched as the lights flickered rapidly and the sounds of the concrete shattering. The growls and the snarls as the monster moved before letting out a loud roar.
"Griswold family? DO YOU COPY!"
Andrea was trying not to start sobbing as the ground shook. The monster is trying to prey around and find any source of noise to lead it back to anyone in the group. Andrea watched through the reflections as it threw the body.
The tentacle then began to go over her counter causing her to nearly shriek until a loud clutter came from the other side. Andrea watched as the monster ran back to the other side to figure out what was making the noise and who it was. Letting out a loud roar as it did so.
Andrea slowly lifted herself up from the floor as she looked over at the monster. Seeing as it stood inside the GAP. Tears slid down her face, burning as they did which only made more fall. She was trying to even out her breathing as she looked over at her friends behind the car.
She gave them a small shake of her head telling them not to move. She watched as Lucas reached for his slingshot before standing up and taking a shot. He shot down a balloon before quickly dropping to the ground.
"Go! Go! Go! Go! Go! Go! Go! Go! Go! Go! Go! Go!" Jonathan continued to spit out as the rest of them ran out from behind the car, Andrea hopping a few counters and following after them.
They rant through the back rooms of the mall. Running up the stairs as the lights flickered. They ran all the way to the next floor to get to the car. Jonathan was quick to put the piece in the car as the kids piled in.
But Billy had still been waiting, Andrea shut the doors before walking over to Nancy's side, "Get the car started," Nancy ordered Jonathan.
"Power move," Andrea looked at Nancy as she started shooting.
"We gotta go!" Lucas yelled.
"Come on!"
Andrea met eyes with Billy. Trying to manipulate his sight as Nancy continued to shoot. She tried to make it seem as if they had shifted over a bit more, blood falling from her nose but he continued to go forward. She tried to halt the movement of his car as Nancy continued to shoot, but Nancy was making it hard for her to concentrate.
The lights of Billy's car flashed in their eyes causing Andrea to break all focus. Andrea grabbed Nancy and pushed the girl down as she blocked her from any impact that may come their way... until it didn't.
A loud crash ensued but nothing had hit them. Andrea looked back up to see the yellow convertible go out of the way and shove Billy's car out of the way. Andrea turned back around quickly as she heard the snarling.
She looked up at the shadow of the monster that roared on top of the mall. Andrea barely moved before she realized Max, Mike, and Eleven weren't there....
"ANDREA!" Steve tried to grab his girlfriend as Jonathan whipped the car around.
Andrea watched as the monster crawled down the mall. Andrea was going to make a run back into the mall - try to get back with Max and Eleven but Steve was quick to throw her over his shoulder and climb into the back of the vehicle.
Andrea hit the seat with a harsh jolt, her eyes wide as she stared at the creature which was now running for them. Steve and Robin are sitting the closest to the windows. Andrea held onto Steve as she stared out the window in fear.
"You scared me," Steve muttered as he looked down at her, "If you would've ran back in there..."
"But we left the others," Andrea's voice stammered, "We left them."
"But it's following us," Steve noted before pulling the girl into his chest.
"Dusty-bun, you copy?" The radio began to speak and Andrea held onto Steve.
"I copy, Suzie-poo," Oh, it was Dustin and Suzie, "It sounds much better now, thanks."
"Suzie," Robin and Steve spoke in unison as everyone in the vehicle looked shocked.
"Okay, so listen, do you know Planck's constant?" Dustin asked the girl as he spoke to her through the radio.
"Do you know the Earth orbits the sun?" Suzie retorted as her response.
Well, this was going great. The group had a monster chasing after them while Dustin and Suzie talked. Oh! And the fact that now everyone had proof of Suzie's existence.
We are doomed.
Andrea had absolutely zero hope. Maybe it was the fact that her face was hurting her like a bitch or maybe it was the fact this fucking man-creature thing scared the absolute shit out of her.
She listened as Dustin let out a snicker, "Okay, so I know it starts with two sixes, and then a...W-What is it?"
"Okay, let me just be clear on this. I haven't heard from you in a week and now you want a mathematical equation that you should now," Oh, get him Suzie. Andrea definitely liked this girl. Just not at the moment due to her taking more time than she needed to, "So you can... save the world?"
"Suzie-poo, I promise, I will make it up to you as soon as possible," Andrea pulled herself a bit away from Steve, taking his hand instead of leaning all into him as she listened.
"You can make it up to me now," Suzie decided as she came back over the radio.
"What?" Andrea nearly laughed at the sound of Dustin's worry.
"I want to hear it," Suzie ordered.
Oh, Dustin got himself a bossy girl.
"He's not the only one," Robin jokes, causing Andrea to look alarmed, "You said that out loud."
Andrea played it off, "I knew that," sending a glare at Steve who looked amused.
"Not right now," Dustin's voice was full of fear as he spoke.
"Yes, now, Dusty-bun," Oh, she's not giving up.
"Suzie-poo, this is urgent," Dustin clearly was not going to do whatever she wanted.
But Andrea could not blame him. After all, they were being chased by this giant creature that wanted to kill everyone except Andrea apparently, which by the way, still freaked her out. The rest of the gang was stuck in the mall and even the adults of the party were under the mall in a secret commie base.
Totally in safe environments.
"Yes, yes, you're saving the world, I heard you the first time," Suzie snapped over the radio clearly aggravated, "But Ged is also saving Eathsea and he's about to confront the shadow. So this is Suzie, signing off."
Andrea hoped that Dustin had figured out some sort of answer and that this girl wasn't the only way for him to obtain it. She knew that Hopper and the others needed it and with how this girl was stalling, they'd all be dead before anyone could even get part of the answer.
Andrea listened quietly waiting for some sort of answer, besides the fact they were screwed, "Wait! Wait! Wait! Okay."
"Let's see what this is," Andrea squeezed Steve's hand as he made a face.
"Something nerdy," He presumed before looking back out the window.
Definitely something nerdy. Andrea resisted the urge to manage some sort of smile as she continued to have tears fall from her eyes. This was just the beginning.
