After the events of the Hospital, everyone was in full gear of finding out what was happening with the flayed. They had never seen anything like this before. People disintegrating into... a blob of what used to be a human? No one had ever seen that before.
Will hadn't been a chemical eating freak either in his time being a host. This was a new force that everyone was dealing with. Essentially the same thing but now it was truly in their world. It wasn't just attacking them from the mind, it was attacking them from a body.
The next day after the Hospital was one that was dedicated to finding whoever they believed was flayed. Andrea and Eleven sat on the floor of her room listening to the static as a bandana covered their eyes. Blocking any sort of light that may ruin it for them.
The sound of the static that erupted from the TV caused the two to go into a sort of trance that helped them do this. Pictures and items that were tied to each victim of the flayed they knew about spread out in front of the two girls as they tried to search for them in the void.
Well, until Andrea got a little distracted and began fiddling with her bracelet.
But Andrea didn't do what they wanted her to do and she knew that. She should be focused on finding these people but what about her brother? What about Steve? Neither of them knew of this new threat.
So she set a small first priority, one to find her boyfriend and brother, then depending on how they were she'd find the flayed. As she went to look for Steve and Dustin, she noticed how off it looked. Something was not right because they were not in any place she knew of.
"Who do you work for?" The accent made Andrea stop in her tracks.
"Scoops Ahoy," Steve would repeat over and over again.
Seeing how beat up he was made her angry. She told them that this was going to be something that could get them killed. Yet, they went and did it anyway. Andrea pulled herself back to reality, ripping the mask off of her face before she stormed out the door.
"Where are you going?" Mike called after Andrea, "Did you find someone?"
"I need to get someone," was Andrea's simple response and Jonathan grabbed her arm, "Let go of me."
"Who are you going to get?" Jonathan asked, "Steve? He can't help right now."
"Damn right! He's in danger, Jonathan," Andrea shot at him as she tried to tug her wrist back, "Let me go!"
"You don't know where he is," Jonathan repeated her statement from a few hours earlier, "You'll only be putting him in more danger and us down one more person. Don't you get that? You can't be this selfish."
Selfish.
Andrea shoved Jonathan off of her as she stared at him with an appalled look. Everyone in the room halted their actions as soon as they heard Jonathan's words.
"Selfish?!" Andrea yelled as she looked at Jonathan, "I'm selfish?!"
"Andrea," Jonathan was trying to resonate before he got mad, "Yes!"
Andrea let out a loud scoff as she caused the lights to flicker, "If it weren't for Eleven and I, your girlfriend would be hurt. If I hadn't taken the hit from Billy, Max would be hurt. I'VE TAKEN CARE OF THESE KIDS! WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN?"
"Andrea," Will was the one who slowly walked over to her, "Please, calm down."
Andrea was fiddling with her bracelet, "I kept them safe. Not you."
"Does that make this any different?" Jonathan questioned, "You should've stopped them from doing something stupid."
"And I have," Andrea sneered, "Where were you? Off taking more photographs of some random ass girl?"
"Andrea," Nancy shot, not wanting this to become a fight.
"Look! All this fighting can't be good for El," Mike yelled, "You all need to cool down."
"Look, Seven, if you are scared then just say so. We get you're too weak to do this but damn," Jonathan shot at Andrea and the girl paused.
"Oh shit," Lucas couldn't stop his reaction.
Andrea's nose started to bleed as Jonathan was thrown back onto a seat, her hand fell back down yet again, "Say it again."
"Andrea," Nancy scolded her.
Andrea's head turned in Nancy's direction as everyone looked at her in fear.
Just as they once had.
"If either of them die, it is on you two," Andrea pointed between the couple before she walked back into El's room and slammed the door.
Taking her seat once again as she tied the bandana back around her face. She felt so fucking responsible for everything. She hated being put down - always having to fucking prove herself. She shouldn't have to.
Andrea wiped her nose on her sleeve every so often as she tried to find the missing people in the void. Trying for another two hours trying to find someone or something, yet, nothing.
"Because I love her and I can't lose her again," Well, it seemed love was in the air as yet another person made a confession of their love.
Andrea walked outside yet again with Eleven, both looking at each other before making their entrance, "What's going on?" Eleven asked, clearly confused.
"Nothing. Nothing," Mike spluttered out while everyone looked at the two.
"Just a family discussion," Lucas' voice was full of amusement.
"Oh," El looked at Andrea who shrugged, not caring, "Well, we found him."
Nancy looked at the two girls before asking, "Found who?"
"Your mom," Andrea shot before crossing her arms, "Billy you twat."
"Oh," Nancy looked at Jonathan before looking back down.
"Now let's amp this shit up and get this going," Andrea snapped her fingers before she went over to the t.v. turning the static on, "We got games to play and people to screw."
"Whoa," Max mumbled as she watched Andrea do everything, not allowing anyone to help.
Andrea waved Eleven over who brought the bandanas back out as they sat on the ground once again. Focusing on the static from the t.v. once their vision had been blocked off. Andrea was looking around in the darkness but she couldn't exactly find anything.
Until she found him once again.
"What's he doing?" She could hear the conversation but she ignored it.
Billy was sitting on his bed, staring forward. The man doing absolutely nothing.
"Andy," Will shook the girl's arm telling her to come out for a minute.
"Seven," Jonathan corrected Will as Andrea pulled her bandana off, "It's her actual name, use it."
Andrea looked at the ground before looking at Will, "She's right. Billy's just sitting on his bed, staring at his wall."
"And that's not normal?" Nancy now questioned Max.
"Billy sitting on his bed on the fourth of July? No," Max quickly shut the idea of Billy wanting to stay in, down.
"He wants us to find him," Will pointed out as he looked at Nancy.
"Yeah, that's what I'm afraid of. If we go to Billy, then the rest of the flayed know where we are," Nancy spoke as she began to pace.
Mike looked over at his sister, "It's a trap. I agree. We'll be ambushed."
"We won't be surprised," Lucas stated before adding, "We'll know that they're coming, and we will kick their flayed butts."
"You do realize that none of y'all normal people can do shit? Only us numbers actually can fight?" Andrea shot with venom in her tone.
Will gave Andrea a small look, she knew that he wasn't mad at her but he didn't need her going off of the rails when they needed her most.
Max looked over at Andrea before speaking to Max, "You mean El and Andrea will kick their butts."
Jonathan went to correct Max once again but Nancy gave him a firm shake of her head.
"It's too risky," Mike spoke.
"Wouldn't be the first group of people I've killed," Andrea mumbled, causing a few heads to turn.
"Yeah, and unnecessary," Nancy ignored Andrea's comment and replied to her brother, "Killing the flayed won't stop the Mind Flayer. We have to find out where it's spreading from. We have to find the source.
"Billy knows. Billy's been there. To the source," Eleven spoke as she walked closer to everyone.
"Yeah, but-" Mike went to speak but Eleven stopped him.
"It's a trap, I know," Eleven looked at the boy, "We can't go to Billy. But I think there's another way. A way for us to see where he's been."
Andrea looked over at El before nodding, "We can do it."
Andrea walked into the kitchen to drink something before going to help Eleven. Walking back into the room while Eleven and Mike were having a moment before she sat down. Both girls wrap the cloth back around their faces before ending up in the darkness again.
The two looked at each other before walking closer to Billy. It was silent. Andrea watched as Eleven grabbed Billy's hand trying to get his attention.
"Billy?" Eleven spoke, "Can you hear me? I want to see."
Andrea looked at Eleven before she added, "We want to see what happened."
Andrea and Eleven looked at each other as the silence remained. Eleven began to breathe heavily in shock as Billy grabbed her wrist.
"Hey!" Andrea shrieked before he grabbed hers as well.
The two girls tried to rip their arms away as Billy continued to hold on. His grip got slightly tighter on Andrea but she knew he was clamping down on Eleven. Both continued to fight against him until he let them go, the two falling backward farther into the void.
Falling backward as she screamed, she saw flashes. Flashes of the monsters. Flashes of Billy. Flashes of a crash. Flashes of people screaming.
It wasn't until her back hit the harsh ground with crashing waves that she saw something normal.
"Are you okay?" Andrea asked as she helped her sister up.
"Fine," Eleven mumbled out as the two looked around confused.
Both girls looked around on the beach. Seagulls were flying around as distorted screams reached their ears. What was happening?
"What's going on?" Mike spoke to them.
"We're... on a beach," Eleven was confused.
Andrea let go of her sister for a moment, trudging forward before looking startled as she saw a flash of red.
Memories from Billy's life flashed momentarily. She saw flashes of the beach, flashes of his mother, flashes of what had happened between his father and mother until she saw nothing.
Until everything turned dark.
"Eleven?!" Andrea yelled as she turned around only to see that her sister wasn't there, "ELEVEN?!"
"She can't hear you," A distorted voice called out to her, "You've grown..."
Andrea looked around before the scene changed into a distorted Brimborn Steelworks. Andrea looked at the whirling of a red storm in the sky as the place looked dark. White particles falling from the sky... not this place again.
"WHAT DO YOU WANT!" Andrea screamed as she breathed heavily.
"Do you remember what you did?" The voice continued to question.
Andrea flinched as the sound of the screams of the other numbers filled her ears, she let out a scream as she tried to cover her ears.
"STOP!" Andrea yelled angrily, "STOP!"
"You did that, because I told you to..."
"I don't even know you," Andrea shot as she shook her head, he's dead.
"All this time...." Billy appeared in front of her, "We aren't going to kill you."
Andrea backed away, "Stay the hell away from me."
"You aren't the target," He crept towards her, "If you get in the way, you will get hurt."
"You're killing people. My friends are on your list, what the hell makes you think-" Andrea halted as she looked confused, "Why the hell are you targeting them and not me?"
"It is not time for you to know," The voice became more distorted before everything disappeared.
Andrea had ripped off her mask, her sister doing the same thing, "Eleven?"
"Seven!" Eleven looked relieved to see her sister.
The two looked around only to see no one there. The two were alone.
"Mike?" Eleven called out as the two rose to their feet.
Andrea began to run around the place momentarily yelling out the names of everyone she knew had previously been in the room. Eleven hadn't even gotten off the floor, the girl was obviously freaking out as well by whatever was happening.
No, no, no. Don't trap us here, please god don't... Andrea was mentally freaking out, still trying to figure out what was happening. No doors were opening. They were trapped.
"Mike?!" El called out as she too began to freak out.
Andrea raced back over to her sister's side, "We're going to figure this out. We're okay..."
"Mike!" Eleven continued to yell.
"He can't hear you," Billy's voice was distorted like before, Andrea instinctively moving in front of her sister.
"Go away," Andrea ordered as she glared at him.
Billy began to walk through a door as he appeared merely a few feet in front of them. Eleven continued to pant and grabbed onto Andrea's arm as both looked at the man in fear.
"You shouldn't have looked for me," Andrea felt as a force threw her across the room and held her into the seat.
Andrea continued to struggle in the seat. Trying to get herself free but it was as if someone had her restrained with something.
"Because now I see you," Billy placed his cigarette down, "Now we can all see you."
Andrea breathed heavily as she watched him back up into her sister. Not at all liking how this sounded. What did he mean by they could all see her? Andrea let out a gasp in realization, they know where we are.
"NO!" Andrea yelled as she continued to try and fight the invisible force holding her down.
"You... let us in," He continued walking over to Eleven as flashes flew through their minds, "And now you're going to have to let us stay."
"Leave her alone!" Andrea yelled as she watched him back Eleven up, the girl crying as she looked at him.
"Don't you see? All this time, we've been building it," Eleven sobbed at his words, "We've been building it... for you."
"Leave her alone!" Andrea continued to scream.
"All that work, all that pain... all of it... for you," Billy continued to walk her around to the room until she had nowhere to go, "And now it's time. Time to end it. And we are going to end you. And when you are gone, we are going to end your friends."
"NO!" Andrea screamed as she tried to get free, "Eleven! Don't listen! I would never let him hurt you!"
"NO!" Eleven yelled.
"And then we are going to end... everyone," Billy added.
"GET AWAY!" Eleven screamed before throwing him back and disappearing from the vision.
Andrea cried out for her sister. Begging someone to get her out, to let her go. She watched as Billy got himself out of the wall and smiled before everything faded out.
Eleven was sobbing into Mike's arms while everyone tried to calm the two girls down. Nancy held the blindfold that had once covered Andrea's face while Will held the girl as she shook. No one said anything, no one knew what to do.
Andrea sat as she fiddled with her bracelet as if there were no tomorrow. The girl hadn't spoken a single word. She couldn't find it in herself too.
"He said he was building something... that it was all for me," Eleven spoke as she looked at everyone.
"Building something?" Max questioned, confused, "Is he talking about the flayed?"
"He must be," Nancy spoke as she messed with her hair.
"So, he's building an army, just like we thought," Lucas spoke as he began to pace around.
"Yeah, but he's not building this army to spread," Mike looked visibly worried.
"He's building it to stop Eleven," Will made sure to emphasize that.
"Last year, El and Andrea closed the gate on him. I have a feeling that really pissed him off," Mike spoke.
Andrea flinched as she moved her hands to cover her ears, the sounds of the screams still echoing in her ears.
"Then why isn't he going after, Andrea?" Lucas questioned as he looked at Mike.
"She disappeared," Nancy remembered, "From El's sight. He showed her something."
Everyone looked over at Andrea who had her hands covering her ears as she sat in a ball. Trying to make the sound go away.
"They pissed him off. Like, royally," Lucas spoke before adding, "He might be taking a different approach on them."
"And the Mind Flayer now knows that they're the only thing that can stop him," Mike continued to explain, "If Andrea's out of the way, it's all Eleven. If both are out of the way..."
"Game over," Lucas looked over at his friend with a strange look.
"He also said he was going to kill all of you," Eleven added in a whisper.
Andrea slowly pulled her hands from her ears as she looked at the others.
"Yeah, well, that's nice," Max seemed thrilled with this news.
A loud screech caught their attention and Andrea immediately stood up causing a few heads to turn, "Andrea?"
He was coming. Whatever the hell Billy had been talking about... whatever he had been referring to that they had created was coming. He knew where they were, they let him in. Mike was right, it had been a trap.
One that both girls had let them straight into. Letting themselves go into Billy's mind not knowing he would know that is what they were doing and find out where they were first. Now, they had no time to run. They had no chance of actually beating this thing. Look at them, Andrea was so freaked out and spaced out what was she going to kill?
Eleven was more to the world than Andrea but even she was freaked out. The sounds of screeching got louder. Andrea looked back at her sister. The only other number who remained that she knew of. The only one who... who was still here.
She would have to live with the guilt forever. Even if the younger girl couldn't remember it. Even if no one who knew what happened was alive to have known, nothing would've ever helped Andrea come back from that.
But she couldn't fix the past. She knew that. The past was already set and done. Andrea had to work on herself moving forward. She had to prove herself. She had to be the person who helped. She had to remove those mistakes of the past with new mistakes. With new wins.
"It's coming," Andrea whispered out, "He's coming."
