Andrea really was trying her best to keep her cool as she sat in the passenger seat but when Nancy Wheeler was leaning back against her seat a little too elbowy... Andrea was ready to get rid of Nancy's elbows for her. After all, she didn't need them, right?
Andrea didn't know how to feel in all honesty, after her talk with her father. He had made her blood boil but he also did have some good points, but Max was on the line and Andrea would not let that girl die.
She would not let anyone in the RV at the current moment die, except maybe Nancy Wheeler. That girl really was on thin ice with Andrea like no one before.
Andrea had changed from her ripped-up top to a tank top she found sitting around in the trailer so that she had something to cover her. Especially if they were going out in public, she did not need any stares or looks.
"Yeah... it's... it's still, but I... I've actually, uhm. I've always had this dream that I'd have this really... really big family," Steve began to explain as he focused on the road while Andrea tried to ignore Nancy's elbows in her shoulders.
Andrea raised an eyebrow as she looked over at him, listening to what she was saying while trying to figure out things herself, "Oh?"
Steve had to hide his small smile as he spoke, "I'm talking, like, uh, a full brood of Harringtons. Like five, six, kids?" Steve seemed to be thinking a lot about this.
"Six?" Nancy questioned as if she were taken off-guard as a small smile made its way onto her lips.
"Yeah. Six little nuggets," Steve spoke with a bit of enthusiasm, "Three girls, three boys," His eyes seemed to light up a little bit but he still seemed nervous as he laughed, "And... and every summer, I figured all of us Harringtons, we would pack into something like this and... just see the country.
Andrea was trying not to grin as big as she felt like doing. Though, Andrea a mother of almost a full dozen? Andrea wasn't sure if she trusted herself enough to be a mother although she was definitely not opposed to the idea.
"Sounds fun," Andrea whispered as she flashed Steve a smile.
"You know, the Rockies, Grand Canyon, maybe Yellowstone. End up in some beachside town in California. Spend a week parked in the sand. Learn how to surf or something," Steve really had thought into this.
"That sounds really nice," Andrea's mood turned sour at the feeling of Nancy's elbows once again.
"Remove the elbows," Andrea spoke firmly as she looked back at Nancy, "Or I will."
And Nancy removed her elbows pretty quickly after that. Giving Andrea a small look before she leaned back against the wall.
"Yeah?" Steve questioned as he looked over at the two, obviously trying not to get into a fight while driving.
"Yeah," Both the women spoke while glaring at the other.
"Well, uh, except for the six-kid part," Nancy was quick to add after that as she shook her head, "That sounds like a total nightmare."
Steve made a hand motion back, "If only I have some practice."
Andrea tried not to laugh as she shook her head at him. He had been the babysitter for so long, and Andrea helped but Steve was a lot more protective and stern than she was. It was hilarious to her.
"True," Andrea snickered as she rubbed her nose.
Nancy nodded in agreement as she tried not to grin, "All right. Fair. That's fair."
The music continued to play as a silence fell over the small group. Andrea noticed how Nancy's eyes fell on Steve and it made her look away. A frown resided on her lips before she tried her best to find this card play.
Andrea's mind sifted through her memories as she tried to figure out something. Something that she remembered. She had to remember the first time they played cards right? Was it possible that he used this play all the way back then?
Andrea's eyes narrowed as they moved back and forth. The first time they played cards she was merely six. She had just finished lessons when he pulled her aside in the rainbow room since he was the orderly watching the children.
Andrea sat across from Peter. Both holding cards in their hands while a stack rested between them. Little Andrea's lip quivered as she played her cards, none of them being any good seeing as they were very low numbers varying with spades and hearts.
But... but he had the entire high house.
So, here they were on the path to this place called the Warzone when Andrea realized something. A card play. The card play.
Andrea's eyes widened as she looked around, "Oh my god," How had she not realized it before? That was why she lost no matter what she played.
"What?" Steve looked startled by her sudden outburst.
"I know what he played... I know," Andrea's eyes widened as she shook her head, "But I can't beat it."
"What? What do you mean?" Steve was trying his best to pay attention while driving, Nancy leaning in as she tried to figure this out as well.
"He played a Royal Flush the first time we played cards. It's the entire high house. It's the only play that is unbeatable," Andrea began to explain as she straightened up her back with a sigh, "That's why I can't win."
Steve mulled over Andrea's words before he turned his head momentarily as he made some sort of hand motion, "Who said you need to win?"
Andrea's head turned in his direction with wide eyes.
"You just have to tie, that'll give us time," Nancy added to Steve's words as she looked shocked, "Stall."
If they tied, then neither won or lost a hand that round. It would just keep going until someone won or until they lost.
"You'll have another round," Steve spoke as he held a slight grin, "You're a genius."
"I'll have to try to counter the manipulation and play in favor of myself but that might actually work, holy shit," Andrea was in shock as she let out a small laugh, "We might actually have a chance."
And so then Andrea began brainstorming on what she could do and how she could help everyone. This was going to be something big. Something she needed to do. It was almost like the was countering her father's actions but Andrea was not as powerful as him.
She would need to push herself as much as she could. She would have to push past her limits to show her dad that she was not just some girl that he could fight. She was just as capable of pulling some sort of big scheme off as he was.
And she needed to make herself believe that.
Everyone threw open the doors of the War Zone, Eddie stayed behind to hide in the stolen RV while everyone else grabbed whatever they needed. Steve's arm snaked around Andrea's waist as she looked around the newfound store. One she hadn't seen before.
Erica halted causing the entire group to halt as they looked around, "So much for avoiding angry hicks," Robin spoke as she let her head fall to the side as she eyed Nancy.
"Maybe they wanna cookout," Andrea joked as she noticed the look Steve gave Robin.
"Let's be... fast," Nancy decided as she stood tall, clearly a bit nervous.
Though, someone was definitely going to find something off with the group. Half were covered in dirt and muck from a different dimension and still wearing the same clothes that they had been wearing for a few days now.
Plus they looked quite out of place being a full group of teenagers in a store with a bunch of older gentlemen.
"Yep."
"Definelty."
And so the group began to run around looking at whatever they could see. Robin grabbed a buggy and motioned for Andrea and Steve to keep up with her. Though, Steve slipped off for a moment as he tugged on a striped shirt and a top gun aviator jacket.
"How many of these do you think we need?" Robin questioned as she held up a canister while looking at Andrea.
"All of them?" Andrea questioned as she tried to figure out a good number.
"Five or six," Steve popped in as he began to grab a few of them.
Andrea helped Steve grab a few while muttering, "Nice look," Ignoring the look he shot her.
"Thanks," Steve shook his head before noticing how Robin had stopped moving altogether, the woman staring off in front of her.
She was staring straight ahead at one of the girls Andrea had recognized from school. Andrea shared a look with Steve before smirking as her hands fell to her hips while seeing Robin's love-sick daze. It was definitely something to see.
Steve looked at Robin as he held a knowing look, "What are you gonna do, Robin? Stand and gawk?" Steve questioned as he gave her a look.
"Shut up," Robin snapped as she never broke contact with the girl, she only hated when seeing a guy walk over and scare the girl before they kissed.
Robin's look fell and Andrea frowned. Steve adjusted his stance while his look fell as well. Steve tapped Robin's shoulder trying to get her to break her gaze while she watched them kiss. Robin stared so bad that the girl turned and noticed her.
They stared at one another while the guy kissed her which in the end resulted in Robin running off.
"Robin," Andrea called after her as she felt Robin push past her.
"Robin, Robin," Steve tried to grab the woman's arm but she managed to slip away from both of them.
"Go after her," Andrea spoke as she looked at Steve, "I've got this stuff."
"You sure?" Steve questioned as he looked a little worried.
It would take a bit of convincing but they needed Robin's head in the game and after all, Steve and Robin were very good friends. Steve would be the best bet when getting Robin's head in the game and that's what she needed.
"Yeah, I've got it," Andrea gave a slight nod before watching as Steve walked off to find Robin.
Andrea continued to grab what they needed. Knowing that they needed to grab their weapons as fast as possible. Andrea placed a few more things into the buggy before feeling as if someone grabbed onto her.
"Henderson," The voice was harsh causing the girl to turn around only to find one of the basketball players.
"What the hell do you want?" Andrea questioned as her eyes narrowed, "Let go of me," Her words immediately filled with anger upon feeling his grip on her.
Andrea watched as his eyes scanned over her, "You here with Wheeler?" His question made Andrea roll her eyes, why was this the assumption?
"On my own, I don't fucking need someone," Andrea shot as she jerked her arm back, "Now go away. It's a dangerous world and I want to buy the stuff I need to actually protect myself without getting some idiotic hunk like you."
"Why are you buying all of this?" The boy's mop of dark hair caused her eyes to narrow, she saw no need for him to ask her these questions.
"Why is it any of your business?" Andrea questioned as she straightened her posture, "Might be using it to get rid of your ass," She spat with venom at the man as he stood over her.
"Not funny," His voice got darker as he stared at her, "Where's your brother?"
And Andrea being the girl she was had to respond, "At your mom's house," Andrea let out a low huff, "She's just been begging for company."
The guy tried to grab ahold of Andrea and push her back into the shelf but she caught his arms, trying to keep him back, "You little bitch," His nails dug into the top of her arms causing her eyes to flinch ever so slightly, the girl getting a little worried about the bracelet that was on her wrist which he had gotten close to.
Andrea glared at him before thinking of the first thing she thought to do, it worked with how he was grabbing her, "SOMEONE HELP! HE'S TRYING TO ASSAULT ME!" Which was not far from the truth, his nails were digging into her skin and he did seem to give off a violent aura.
And the entire store turned around. Andrea noticed out of the corner of her eye where Erica stood with Max, and now Nancy while Steve and Robin ran over along with some angry people. Lucas and Dustin had stayed behind to keep Eddie company.
But it seemed that everyone in the store was ready to beat the shit out of this man in order to protect little ole Andrea.
"Get your hands off of her!" Steve shoved him back while Andrea grimaced as his nails caught her skin.
Robin pulled Andrea back as she glared, "What the hell man?!"
It seemed that Andrea's plan sent the entire store into a turmoil. Everyone seemed angry that this guy had just put his hands on this young woman who was merely buying things she deemed protection. A big no-no for a guy in this town.
"Hey! He's one of my players!" Jason yelled as he tried to get through the crowd.
Andrea faked a look of fear, "He was trying to hurt me! I thought... I wasn't sure..." Andrea buried her head into Robin's shoulder as she kept the act going.
"You are in for it you son of a bitch," Steve glared as he shoved him back into the display before the other people in the store took him to get this boy situated.
Andrea sighed in relief as she pulled herself from Robin's shoulder. Noticing how both looked at her in worry as she shrugged her shoulders before she motioned that they needed to leave... like now. They couldn't stay any longer.
And so they took their belongings up to the register. The guy behind the register looked at Andrea in pity as his eyes fell over her. Andrea's arms were slightly scratched up from the guy's nails but she didn't seem to be in too much pain.
"They'll take care of him, hun," The man behind the register gave a slight nod, "Don't you worry 'bouta thing."
Andrea gave a small nod as she clung to Robin's side while Steve stood tall beside them. Everyone bought their things before running out of the store. Andrea whipped open the doors of the RV while motioning for everyone to get in.
"What happened?" Lucas questioned as he turned to see Steve entering the trailer with Andrea following right behind.
"We gotta go," was Steve's response as he jumped into the driver's seat while Andrea got into the passenger seat.
"Your old friends are here, got ahold of Andrea and she yelled assault got us time," Erica spoke as she ran to sit with her brother while holding a big paper bag in her hand.
"Shit!" Lucas yelled while watching as Robin maneuvered herself into the RV.
"Let's go! Let's go! Let's go!" Andrea could not tell who was yelling that as Nancy came in with her shotgun while Max came in last with her bag in hand.
"I'm going! I'm going! Sit down!" Steve began to yell as the group continued to get rushed over and over again.
The RV pulled out of the store rather quickly. Andrea began to look down at her scratched-up arms with a look of pure annoyance. Her arms had looked perfectly fine before but nooo, this man had to rake his nails over them when he did not want to let go of her.
"How did you pull that off?" Lucas then questioned through the silence with a look of amazement, "Yelling assault?"
Andrea turned around in her seat noticing how Steve's grip on the wheel tightened, "He grabbed ahold of me and wouldn't let go. His nails..." Andrea showed off her scratched arms, a bit of the skin broke and small bits of blood resided there, "Did this so I just thought if I yelled, someone would come. Turns out, everyone did."
Andrea noticed how the others raked their eyes over her arms until she pulled them back, tugging at the bracelet that resided on her wrist. She was relieved he had not broken it. It was sentimental to her despite it being just a simple beaded bracelet that you could remake.
Nothing would ever compare to the original to her.
"You were by yourself?" Dustin then questioned, clearly worried.
"I sent Steve after Robin, I can hold my own," Andrea shrugged her shoulders.
"Why didn't you... superpower his ass?" Eddie then questioned as he looked at her, "Wouldn't that have been easier, scarface?"
"I'm wanted by the government," Andrea deadpanned causing everyone to look startled, well, except Robin and Nancy, "Shit, I didn't tell y'all that did I?"
"NO?!" Max yelled as she shook her head, "Kinda forgot that one!"
"Well I am a fucking Lab experiment," Andrea shrugged her shoulders as she made a face, "And they kinda want me dead but they won't find me but if I did use my powers in the store it would be more likely that they would because I kinda would've thrown this mother fucker!"
So this was how Andrea dropped the bomb that the government was still looking for her. But this time it was more or so for her head and not just to have her back under their control.
"And you couldn't have mentioned that sooner?" Dustin exclaimed as he shook his head.
"Well, surprise. You're technically harboring two fugitives of the law," Andrea moved her hands as she made a face, "I was going to but I kinda forgot."
"Didn't you say you were gonna wait?" Robin questioned before making a face, she had accidentally said what truly Andrea had meant.
"Robin!" Andrea sighed as she placed her hands over her face, "It's not a big deal. We've gotta get this handled."
"Not that big of a deal?" Steve questioned as he sighed.
"Steve... nothing is going to happen," Andrea frowned.
"Damn right it won't."
Andrea sighed as her head fell, great. He's upset.
