If there was one thing that Seven had always been, it was kind-hearted. She had always been a girl who was soft-spoken and wanted others to have their moments first. She could wait to have hers until the very end when everyone else was happy and thriving.
But that changed once Seven became who she always wanted to be. When she became the free version of herself, when she became Andrea.
She was no longer soft-spoken. Yes, she still cared about others and wanted them to do well but over time her love for the people around her faded. She would do what she could for the innocent but the sinners... the sinners would fall.
With or without Andrea being the cause.
Andrea had slowly started to piece together in her brain that no one bad was ever truly bad and no one good was ever truly good. Something always played into someone's trivial life role, something always had to be that piece that could make or break someone's character.
And even if Andrea did not want to admit it, nor had she truly realized, but deep down? Andrea fell in the middle, she was neither good nor bad.
And so here she stood, with the rest of the group.
Robin and Andrea had never really been close, they spoke a lot but neither really knew the other. They were okay with that and neither had any hard feelings toward the other. Until Nancy Wheeler came into the frame then Andrea's liking for the other woman started to falter.
On the other hand, there was Eddie Munson. In the beginning, upon their first meeting, Andrea could tell that Eddie really wasn't as scary as he seemed. He had a big heart behind that metalhead side of his. He always saved her brother from bullies - and he never judged her, unless he was talking about the cheerleaders.
He was someone she claimed as a friend, someone she would protect.
And then there was Steve, the man she had married in the early hours of the morning on March 24, who had been a good friend since the beginning. Despite when they first met and she didn't seem to like him too much at first but now she'd do anything to keep him alive.
Now it was March 26, 1986.
And the entirety of the young adults was now standing in the Upside Down, where they had been for over a few hours.
Andrea pulled her gaze away from Robin as Eddie tossed something over at Steve, the girl noticing that it was his jean vest, "For your modesty, dude," He held a straight face while Andrea tried not to grin as she looked at the vest in Steve's hands as she shook her head.
No one had any time to react before the sky lit up red and a loud rumble shook the entire place. Grunts and shrieks left the group as they tried to remain to stand, but no one did. Nancy fell flat on her face while Robin and Eddie fell on each other. Steve fell back into the rock as he grabbed onto Andrea's waist, pulling her back as well.
"Oh my god!" Robin exclaimed, startled by the sudden earthquake-like shake that hit the group.
Everyone continued to hold onto one another or in Nancy's case, something that wasn't the vines, as they tried to keep still. The shaking continued as they panted. Things around them began to make noises as well, as if something was about to break or fall.
"Shit," Andrea moved so that her back hit the rock, wary of leaning back into Steve's grip with his condition.
Creatures bayed in the distance as the shaking stopped. The sky going back dull with the occasional lighting up of the redness. Everyone stayed quiet as they looked at one another listening to the snarling.
Everyone had the same wide-eyed expression before Eddie quickly began to stammer out, "So guns seem like a pretty good idea to me."
Robin looked back at the guy behind her as she seemed in pure agreement, "Yeah, me too."
Nancy began to get off the ground while Andrea sighed as she moved off of the rock, Steve taking the opportunity to slide the vest on, "So, what are we waiting for?" Steve then questioned.
"Your mom," Andrea joked before acting as if she were surprised and placing a hand over her wide-open mouth.
No one else spoke, Eddie continued to rub at his leg while he and Robin sat on the ground. Andrea made the first move to leave as Steve followed after her, the man turning on the flashlight that he held in his hands while Nancy made her way next.
Eddie and Robin followed last as the sky began to flare and grumble as if it were angry.
Andrea found herself wandering in her memories as she walked. Her mind flashed to the last time that any of the numbers had really had a lesson together.
Everyone had been forced to use their abilities against one another. Two being the one who reigned supreme in most of the battles. Until little number, Eleven went up against him and took him down really quick.
Andrea remembered how proud she was that someone took down Two. He always had such a bad attitude and was notorious to attack the other numbers when he deemed them in his way. Someone had finally put him in his place, but she would never vocalize that.
She had never really vocalized much in the Lab. She supposed that is why they always had her father with her, even though she didn't know then, he had always been a safe space for her. He taught her a majority of the things she used to this day. He taught her how to be her.
Andrea wanted to hate him, but she knew she could never hate him. Despite the amount of pain, he had caused her, no matter how angry she was at him, she wouldn't hate him. She still loved him and part of her hoped that he could come to his senses.
Part of her still hoped that they had a chance.
Though, Andrea knew that would probably be highly unlikely. Everything was just wishful thinking and it wouldn't really become a reality. Her father would never see what he was doing probably was not the best way to go about things.
The sky lit up once again. This time, the red became brighter before it disappeared once again. Andrea continued to jump over the vines as she popped her fingers. Listening to the conversation that ensued behind her.
"Couldn't we have tried a road, or something slightly less creepy?" Robin questioned as she looked around the woods, careful of where she stepped down.
"I think the creepiness is part of the experience," Andrea joked as she shrugged her shoulders.
"I think we're getting close. We're almost out of here. Don't worry," Nancy hummed as she looked back at Robin momentarily before focusing back on what she was doing.
Andrea noticed as Steve gave her a momentary motion to slow down before he began to speak, "Eddie. Eddie. Hey, man, uh... Listen, I just want to... uh... I just want to say thanks. For helping save our asses back there."
"Shit. She saved your ass, man," Eddie pointed at Andrea who was merely a few steps in front of them, "You did too. I mean, that was a real Ozzy move you pulled back there."
"Ozzy?" Steve questioned as he flashed the light ahead, causing Andrea to look down as she now saw her legs were illuminated.
"When you took a bite out of that bat," Eddie began as he continued to step over the vines that plagued the ground, "Ozzy Osbourne?" Eddie then questioned upon seeing the confusion etched across Steve's features, "Black Sabbath?"
Steve continued to walk while flashing the light around, Andrea turned her head, "Metal bands," Andrea hummed in recognition.
"He bit a bat's head off on stage," Eddie nodded as he pointed a finger at Andrea once he finished her sentence.
"I don't-" Steve looked slightly confused as he stared at Andrea, "You know metal music?"
"I try everything at least once," Andrea shrugged her shoulders.
"You know? Doesn't matter," Eddie seemed a bit defeated at Steve's confusion or lack of care.
"No," Steve mumbled as he stood shoulder to shoulder with the Munson man.
Eddie leaned over as he began to speak, "It's very metal, what you did. That's all I'm saying," He finished explaining what he meant.
They continued to walk a few steps as Steve began to take in Eddie's words before he spoke, "Thanks."
They continued walking as Eddie started to place his hands on his hips, "Henderson told me you were a badass. Insisted on the matter, in fact. Not that Henderson - uh, the younger one. Both talk about you a lot though."
Andrea couldn't help but laugh at Eddie's words, "What can I say? Steve's an amazing conversation topic."
"Henderson said that?" Steve questioned as he looked a little surprised, but Andrea could see the glint of happiness in his eyes.
"Oh yeah. Shit," Eddie looked over at Steve as they walked, "Kid worships you, dude. Like, you have no idea. It's kinda annoying, to be honest," Eddie continued to peer over at Steve before he'd look at the ground careful of his steps, "I don't even know why I care what that little shrimp thinks."
Andrea turned her head as she raised an eyebrow, "Oh, really?"
"Don't kill me," Eddie's eyes widened before he was quick to finish his explanation, "But, uh, I guess I got a little jealous, Steve," They continued to walk for a few more minutes in silence which made Andrea feel a little awkward, "I guess I couldn't accept the fact that Steve Harrington was actually a good dude."
"Trust me, I didn't at first," Andrea fake whispered to Eddie as she slowed down to walk at their sides, causing Steve to shoot her a look to which she smiled innocently.
"Rich parents, popular, chicks love him. Not a douche?" Eddie chuckled at Andrea's words as he leaned his head back in Steve's direction as he continued to talk, "No way, man. No way. That, like, flies in the face of all the laws in the universe and my own personal Munson doctrine."
Steve continued to flash his light around as they carried on the conversation. Despite the slight headache and the weight of Steve's injuries and where they were, Andrea was enjoying herself. But she was not enjoying the weird white stuff that fell from the sky.
"Still super jealous as hell, by the way," Eddie added as he got closer to Steve causing the man to smirk and causing the two to laugh.
"Great," Steve tried to get a little space between him and Eddie as he was clearly amused by the Munson man's words.
"Which is why I would never have jumped in that lake to save your ass. Andrea? Yeah, couldn't let her go. Henderson would have my head for either of you but not under any, uh... normal circumstances," Eddie continued to look around as he explained this until a branch snapped.
The three paused as Steve began to flash his light around. Andrea couldn't see anything but she could tell something was there, somewhere. Growling came not long after. Andrea swatted at the air as the little white flakes of whatever fell.
The girl chewed on her lip as she began to fiddle with her bracelet noting how the sky had yet to flash any colors. It was slightly alarming to her since it had been doing it constantly since they arrived and she was pretty sure that it was normal, well for the Upside Down.
The three continued to peer out trying to find the source of the sound as they stood still where their feet had been planted. Leaning forward and backward trying to get some sort of view through the trees until they finally decided to give up.
"Nope," Eddie began to move forward once again, "Outside of D&D, I am no hero," He slowly walked forward as he stepped over the vines, Andrea now finding herself at Steve's side as he continued to flash the light around, "I see danger and I just turn heel and run."
Andrea nodded her head as she pursed her lips together, "That's what I did from the Lab and I made a pretty damn good life."
Eddie gave a slight nod at the woman's words before he added, "Or at least that's what I've learned about myself this week."
"Shit, if I didn't have to be saving people's asses I would too," Andrea made a face as she shuddered, "This shits for the birds."
Steve moved forward as he patted Eddie's arm, "Give yourself a break, man."
"See?" Eddie pointed forward as he spoke before halting, "The only reason I came in here was 'cause those ladies, and this one," He looked at Andrea before looking at Steve, "Came in straight after you. I came after a second so Andrea would have someone else. Now, I was too ashamed to be the one who stayed behind as well."
Andrea felt oddly touched by the statement. Despite how it could be a little weird. Despite his fear, Eddie didn't want to be the only one who hadn't gotten off the boat but he had also wanted to help Andrea. That warmed her heart. He cared.
"But Wheeler right there, she didn't waste a second. Not one second. She just dove right in. She wasn't going to do anything when Andrea went under, but you? Now, I don't know what happened between you two, but if I were you and I see how you look and care for Andrea... I would talk to her."
Andrea looked down at the ground as she sighed. Steve and Eddie both looked at her as she moved away from the two, moving forward. Nancy really hated Andrea that much? She would let her drown or die?
Andrea couldn't really say anything, she was going to let Nancy die but that still hurt.
Now she really had a reason to let Nancy die.
"I've seen how Wheeler treats Andrea," Eddie's voice carried no matter how far Andrea got, "And Andrea knew before you did that she was being dragged down and she didn't care about herself. She cared about what happened to you, no matter what happened. Now that, was as unambiguous a sign of true love as these cynical eyes have ever seen."
Andrea wiped her hands over her face as she made sure to keep far behind Nancy and Robin but not too far from Steve and Eddie. Another rumble came through as the sky lit up momentarily before the ground shook, Andrea fell but stopped herself from hitting a vine.
"Goddamn it!" Steve spoke out of reflex.
"Here we go again!" Eddie yelled, clearly annoyed with this happening again.
It continued to shake and everyone found something to either hold onto or just to sit at. Robin and Nancy grabbed onto each other. Steve and Eddie were holding onto things, and Andrea has folded awkwardly as she kept herself from touching anything.
"Second on my list of least favorite things, earthquakes!" Robin exclaimed loudly so that everyone in the group could hear her as she began to panic, "Seriously, I'm unsteady enough as it is."
Everyone tried to keep a grip on themselves as the ground continued to shake. Andrea's arms and legs were growing tired as she held her body over the vines as the ground continued to shake violently. The loud pants of everyone came back through, this was a total workout on its own.
But Nancy somehow managed to make a run for it and Robin rose to her feet, unsteadily, as she yelled, "Nancy! Where are you going?! Nancy!"
Nancy continued to run off as the ground continued to shake. How Andrea wished something would just strike her down right then and right there, she would literally pay someone to get that for her.
And then the ground finally stopped shaking. A sigh of relief leaving Andrea's lips as she pushed her upper body up with her arms before she popped her back upon standing at her full height. The merely five-nine woman sighed as she placed her hands on her hips.
"Fuck this," Andrea cursed into the air as she turned back to the others, "Let's go!"
And so they ran in the direction that Nancy had gone, being careful of the vines that littered the ground, before running through the trees. Robin nearly tripping a few times causing Andrea to try and keep her steady as the two men followed behind.
"Nancy!" Robin yelled as they finally came to her side, the sky flashing red overhead.
The entire group halted as they stared out in front of them. The world distorted as the trees and weird wire machines were bent down and clearly old and withered. The sky kept flashing red, causing Andrea to look up.
The view was so much different in this dimension than in the normal world.
Thunder boomed as the group stared ahead, lightning still flashing in the sky as it went from a deep shade of purple to a bright red, "Come on," Nancy ordered as she began to trudge on.
Causing everyone else to follow after her. Trying to get prepared for what was to come as the sky continued to light up menacingly. As if it were trying to scare them. As if it were trying to tell them that they should turn around and leave.
"So, this is a fun little trip," Andrea muttered under her breath as she fell behind the rest, "Other dimensional travel, how cool."
"Are you talking to yourself?" Steve questioned as he looked back at her.
Andrea raised an eyebrow as she placed her hands on her hips, "Maybe, you got a problem with it?"
Steve held up a hand in surrender as he shook his head, "No, do what you want, doll. I'll be happy as long as you are."
Andrea gave a slight nod before hooking arms with him and continuing their journey.
Their journey to the house of the Hellian.
