vii

Andrea sighed as she ran her fingers through her hair. This entire situation was ludacris, it was insane. They had creatures from another dimension coming after them. Andrea couldn't be much help at the moment and she knew it. She couldn't keep fighting off these things. Yes, she had gained more energy but going after these things again? It'd take her down and no one else here really had anything besides a bat that could rival these things.

And it put everybody on edge.

There had been a pause after Dustin's outburst. Clearly, he wasn't as happy about the metaphor he had come up with either but at the time it seemed as if he was the only one even coming up with anything.

"Analogy," Lucas corrected his friend.

Dustin got heated over the correction, "Analogy? That's what you're worried about!?" His voice was raised and Andrea looked down, "Fine. An analogy for understanding whatever the hell this is."

Nancy seemed like she wasn't too thrilled about the yelling either as she lifted her hands up before pointing at the book, "Okay so this mind flamer thing -"

"Flayer," Dustin corrected the teenager.

Nancy's lips pursed as she let out a sigh, "What does it want?"

"To kill us?" Andrea suggested, "After all, the dogs were coming after absolutely everyone in its path."

Dustin pointed over at Andrea before adding, "To conquer us, basically. It believes it's the master race."

Kinda like Papa was the mastermind behind the manipulation of the numbers.

"Like the germans?" Steve spoke up as he leaned against the table on his arms.

"Uh, the nazis?" Dustin questioned as he turned his head to Steve.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah, the nazis," Steve confirmed.

"Uh... if the nazis were from another dimension, totally," Dustin stammered out quickly, "Uhm it views other races, like us, as inferior to itself."

"It wants to spread, take over other dimensions," Mike explained further.

"We are talking about the destruction of our world as we know it," Lucas leaned forward.

Andrea pinched the bridge of her nose. This was catastrophic. The end of the world? If she had known that this was what was going to come out of that thing in the lab... she would've tried to stop it.

The poor others... Andrea's mind fell on the other numbers. It was a tragedy.

"That's great. That's great. That's really great. Jesus!" Steve turned from the table and walked off as he ran his hand through his hair.

The end of the world, something Andrea never actually thought of. Something she used to pray would happen just so that the lab would be over. So that the kids would be free. At the time she would've rather wished to be dead.

But she had people now that she had to keep fighting for.

"Okay, so, if this thing is like a brain that's controlling everything, then if we kill it... we kill?" Nancy trailed off.

"We kill everything it controls," was Mike's response.

"We win," Dustin seemed really proud of this.

"Theoretically," Lucas added.

"Least it is something," Seven added as she started tugging at her shirt sleeve.

"Great. So how do you kill this thing? Shoot it with fireballs or something?" Hopper walked over, taking the book as he asked.

Dustin couldn't help but let out a chuckle, causing the ghost of a smile to etch onto Andrea's lips," No. No, no fireballs - no fireballs. Uh, you summon an undead army, uh, because... because zombies, you know, they don't have brains and the mind flayer, it... it... it likes brains."

"Back off of the kid," She noticed the look of intimidation that pulled onto Dustin's face and she was not happy that this overaged guy was being so rude.

"It's just a game. It's just a game," Dustin stammered out and Andrea placed an arm around her friend, he looked slightly shocked by her action but he gave her a grateful smile.

Hopper slammed down the book before he walked away, "What the hell are we doing here?"

"I thought we were waiting for your military backup," Dustin piped up from Andrea's side.

"Yeah, what happened to that?" Andrea's tone dripped with annoyance.

"We are!" Hopper turned to the two and yelled.

"Even if they come, how are they gonna stop this?" Mike yelled at Hopper not understanding the man's thinking, "You can't just shoot this with guns!"

"You don't know that! We don't know anything!" Hopper yelled back at them and Andrea had enough.

"Do we? You said it yourself everyone in that lab was killed. Even the ones who were loaded. Don't give me the shit that they weren't, I lived there for sixteen years."

"Well then maybe you know something?" Hopper shot back at her.

"Leave her alone," Nancy was not happy he was getting annoyed with her friend.

"We know it's already killed everybody in that lab," Mike shot in the defense of Andrea.

"And we know the monsters are gonna molt again," Lucas pipped up after Mike trying to get this into Hopper's head.

"And we know that it's only a matter of time before those tunnels reach this town," Dustin spoke making sure everyone knew the graveness of the situation.

"They're right," Joyce Byers shakily made her appearance, "We have to kill it. I want to kill it."

"Me too. Me too, Joyce, but, how do we do that? We don't exactly know what we're dealing with here," Hopper looked down at the women who he now towered over.

"No. But he does," Mike piped up and everyone looked over at him as he walked forward, "If anyone knows how to destroy this thing, it's Will. He's connected to it. He'll know its weakness."

"I thought we couldn't trust him anymore," Max spoke up confused, "That he's a spy for the Mind flayer now."

"There are ways around that," Andrea removed herself from Dustin.

"Yeah, but he can't spy if he doesn't know where he is," Mike turned around and looked at Andrea.

"I can help with that but we'll need precautions. A room that he doesn't know," Andrea agreed, a minor manipulation such as this wouldn't really do much to her.

"No, no you're not doing that," Dustin shook his head before Steve could as everyone scattered, "You're drained."

"This isn't going to take much out of me, it's okay," Andrea placed a hand on Dustin's shoulder, "Trust me. I can do this."

"The second you get tired or something looks off, I'm getting you out of there," Steve gave her a pointed look, she knew that he knew he could not stop her.

She had to help. She had to put up a fight for what she was worth so she didn't waste away or seem lazy to the others. She was capable of helping.

Everyone went out to adjust the shed and change some things up. Over the time, Andrea walked down to the shed and overheard Nancy and Steve talking. Her lips pursed in a thin line.

"So, Andrea," She heard Nancy's tone, she wasn't sure if it was a bad one or not, "Are you two...?"

"No," Steve shook his head, "She's just been there for me but she hasn't had anyone there for her. She needed help and I helped her."

"That's nice of you, Steve."

And Andrea walked away before hearing much more. She did not want to spy but she knew that she was going to stay wherever she was and after this? She had to figure out where she was going to go.

It hadn't taken long for the group to have the shed ready to have Will set in. Two lights and a chair sat in front of him while everyone stood around. Andrea was standing over on the side of Will nodding at Hopper saying she was ready.

"All right, you ready?" He looked at Joyce as he swirled the chemicals in the bottle that rested in his hands.

"Yeah," Joyce nodded and Hopper walked over to Will ready to wake him up.

He held the bottle as he poured it on some sort of cotton pad. The girl watched carefully knowing the moment he woke up she'd need to help. She watched as he held it up to his nose causing him to gasp awake.

Meaning it was time for her to focus and she did. Her mind was settled on making this place seem like something he had no clue about. Just showed him flashes of the labs. Her eyes closed to help make the flashes last longer instead of mere seconds. Though, he could see everyone in the room.

"What? What? What is this?" Will asked, confused by the entire situation looking around and trying to break himself free, "What? What is this? Why am I tied up?"

Joyce walked over and crouched down in front of her son, "Will, we just wanna talk to you. We're not gonna hurt you."

"Where am I?" Will yelled.

Hopper walked over to the boy and showed him his picture, "You recognize this?" to get no answer before he asked again, "Do you recognize this?" Will shook his head.

Andrea made a face as she felt the trickle of blood that slid down from her nose, it tickled.

"Hey, we wanna help you," Joyce looked at her son, "But to do that, we have to understand how to kill it."

"Why am I tied up?" Will yelled louder causing her to flinch, "Why am I tied up? Why am I tied up? Why am I tied up?"

He started to thrash around and Andrea tried to help but the lights started to flicker. Until it all went still, Andrea looked around but it was dark. Vines were everywhere and Andrea felt her body grow cold. The lights were gleaming red...

"No. No. No," Andrea shoved herself out the door trying to figure out where she was only to hear a growl.

She stopped in her movements. Creatures, as she had never seen before, were surrounding her.

"STEVE! NANCY! DUSTIN! JONATHAN! SOMEBODY!" Seven yelled as she backed back up into the room before a harsh wave hit her and everything was normal.

She was leaning heavily against the wall panting. Jonathan was at her side as the lights continued to flicker and Will continued to thrash.

"LET ME GO! LET ME GO!"

His voice turned into something that was not human. Andrea shook her head trying to get the sound out of her head. Getting the flashes out of her head.

"I can't, I'm sorry. He.... it's like he knew what I was doing and showed me..." Andrea was panting so bad her words barely left her lips.

"Andrea?" Mike's voice called out to her and everything was flickering again.

"Get out of my head!" Andrea yelled as everything flipped back to that wretched place.

This was the Upside Down that everyone had warned her about. The Upside Down which no one but Will had ever come back from alive and look at how great it turned out for him.

"LET ME GO! LET ME GO!" Will's demented voice carried through her mind and she tried to take back over.

Closing her eyes and focusing on one thing. Home. The lab. She felt her skin crawl as her nose began to bleed more, the vision barely becoming visible till it consumed her.

"Andrea? Andrea!" Nancy's voice was playing in her mind.

Nancy? How can I hear Nancy?

Nancy was inside the house and Andrea knew that she had been outside with Will. She felt hands all over her. The outlines of people appeared in her vision, trying to get ahold of her and she began to thrash around. They were going to take her away.

"Andrea, hey," Dustin's voice was back as her eyes snapped open.

Andrea slid all the way back from the group crowding her. Trying to process what the hell just happened and how the hell did was he able to flip her mind against her?

"Andrea, what happened?" Jonathan leaned down trying to get her to tell him, "What did you see?"

Seven bit down on her lip, not at all startled by the taste of blood, "He got into my head... I didn't have to show him somewhere else... he showed me."

Nancy looked at Jonathan as he ran back out the door. The lights in the house not flickering as bad as they had been. Andrea's chest was heaving up and down quickly.

"Hey, you're okay," Nancy slid down beside her, "We're all here."

Andrea looked at her friend and gave a small nod, "I don't think I've ever wanted to fight a little kid more than I did a few minutes ago."

"There she is," Dustin grinned widely as he snapped his fingers, "Glad to know you're okay Andrea."

Andrea gave a false smile before sighing, "How did I get in here?"

"I told Jonathan the moment something seems off, to bring you inside," Steve spoke up from behind Dustin, "We can have you getting hurt."

"He's a little overprotective," Max made a face as she spoke, "But you were kinda... spazzing out."

"Spazzing out?" Andrea raised an eyebrow, "What am I? A seizure patient?"

"No," Mike shook his head, "That's not what she meant. Like your eyes were rolled so far back and moving rapidly. Not like any other time."

"Oh?" Andrea had never had that happen before nor did she know that it was possible.

After that, it wasn't long before Hopper ran through the door. Everyone moved from one room to another. Watching as Hopper grabbed a paper and pen before sitting down at the table.

It seemed Hopper had figured something out. Hopefully picking up some sort of vital information that could help them. Some sort of sign that Will was still in there and it was not just this monster. That was everyone's hope.

"What happened?" Dustin asked as everyone crowded Hopper.

"I think he's talking, just not with words," Hopper explained as he continued to write.

He drew a series of lines and dots on what looked like a piece of mail. Andrea tried to peer over everyone but decided to just give up. Crossing her arms as Steve and Nancy stood on either side of her both sharing a look.

"What is that?" Steve questioned.

"Morse code," seemingly everyone in the room knew.

"H-e-r-e," Hopper wrote down each letter.

"Here," Everyone spoke in unison upon the realization.

The new plan was for everyone to write down whatever they were told. Nancy had the pen and a back of a notebook to write down the letters while trying to decipher whatever Will needed them to know while the others asked questions.

"Dash, dot, dash, dot," Dustin spoke.

"C!" Both Max and Lucas yelled.

And it continued to go back and forth like that. Over and over beeps would come through from the walkie from whoever was in the room with Will as he let out a series of taps and pauses.

"Close gate," Everyone spoke in unison breaking Andrea from her mind.

The gate. They needed to close the gate. The gate which Andrea was nearly one-hundred percent sure resided within the Lab. The old rainbow room to be exact. How lovely.

A loud ring startled everyone. Everyone trying to get it to stop letting out a series of words that were definitely not meant for anyone who was truly that young.

"Shit, shit," Dustin grabbed the phone before slamming it but it started ringing again and Nancy ripped it from the wall.

Screeching caused everyone to walk to the front. IT knew exactly where everyone was. IT knew exactly where the entirety of the group was and it was coming to kill them.

"That's not good," Dustin's eyes were wide.

The screeching continued. Though over time it got closer and closer. Though, it had yet to get close enough for anyone to really start worrying. Not that they already shouldn't be because Andrea was sure that they were all about to become a fifty-course meal for the monsters.

"Hey. Hey, get away from the windows!" Hopper yelled at all of the kids who had piled onto the couch.

Everyone ran into the corner of the room trying to guard one another. All of the kids were behind the teenagers and adults. Peering in trying to understand what was happening while also trying to help.

"Do you know how to use this?" Hopper asked as he held out a gun to Jonathan.

"What?" The older Byers boy was clearly confused.

"Can you use this?" Hopper asked once again, but this time a bit more aggressive.

"Uhm," Jonathan couldn't find an answer.

"I can," Nancy walked forward and caught the gun that Hopper threw at her.

Steve got ready with his bat while everyone held the guns up to the windows. The screeching was loud. Andrea knew that they were close and she moved forward. She'd be damned if one of these things got to her friends under her watch.

No matter how much she hated her abilities, they were needed.

"Where are they?"

The growl got louder and everyone got their weapons ready. Nancy and Hopper with their guns. Mike with some sort of goblet he had found, Dustin hiding behind Steve while Jonathan looked in fear. Andrea was closest to the door and Lucas had his slingshot riled back, ready to shoot.

Everyone screamed in terror at the loud screech, "What are they doing?" Nancy asked out of pure fear.

"Who knows," Andrea took a sharp breath in.

Everyone screamed once again and turned in a different direction. The monsters started to cry and screech. No one knew why, and everyone let out a loud scream as a dead demo-dog flew through the window.

Steve ran across the room holding up his bat as he made sure Andrea was okay. Having her stand behind him as if he could truly stop something like this. But Andrea appreciated the thought.

Hopper walked over to the thing. Its body laying soggily on the ground. In a pile of its own goo. If Andrea had eaten anything, she would've been throwing up right now. What the hell just happened?

The door creaked causing everyone to turn once again. Steve had his bat fully ready as his hand pushed Andrea a bit further back as the lock began to open. All weapons were ready once again.

The fear peaked in everyone. No one knew what this was and for all, they knew it could be another monster. Another monster came to kill them, coming to take them all out because it deemed them an inferior race.

The door opened, and everyone lowered their weapons in shock.

Eleven.
