Andrea didn't know how to make herself not think about everything that had happened in the past forty-eight hours. It stuck with her to the point that she wasn't sure she would ever forget about it. After all, this was only the start. She knew that this was not over.
Andrea got out of the car while Steve, Robin, and Dustin had taken part of the boxes in. Her curly hair was a mess but she didn't seem to mind as she wore a slip dress with one of Steve's shirts over top just so that she could be comfortable.
She grabbed one of the smaller boxes and began to walk inside, dropping off a few things before pressing her fingers against a spot on her forehead that began to give her a bit of annoyance as it pulsed angrily. But Andrea refused to let this knock her down, she wasn't going to let anything keep her down.
The girl moved and felt as soon as one of Steve's arms snaked around her waist, as he gave her a slightly disappointed look for the fact she brought a box in. Steve was worried about her overdoing it, still shaken up by the fact that the girl had died. Though, Andrea had since almost seemed like a shell of herself. But she didn't mind that as her eyes scanned the surrounding areas.
People of Hawkins were everywhere. Sitting and laying on different cots and chairs. Some have oxygen hooked up to them and others look fine physically but definitely not fine mentally. It was clear how bad they had been affected. Affected by her father. By her lack of being able to stop it sooner. Part of her wanted to even how Eleven had failed alongside her, but she was young. El deserved none of the blame.
Andrea found a frown tugging at her lips. She was partially to blame for everything that had happened. After all, it was her father's doing. Maybe if she had done a little more she could've stopped him. Maybe if she didn't hold herself back or become as weak as she had... maybe the outcome would've been different.
Maybe Eddie would've lived.
And maybe, just maybe, Max would still be skating around.
But they weren't.
Andrea hated to think the way she did but Max was pretty much dead. No one was sure if she'd ever wake up. If she'd ever be able to see again let alone move or hear. All because of Vecna. All because Andrea couldn't do anything. All because her father had outsmarted her and her friends at a game Andrea should've played better.
And so the town fell.
And Andrea knew she was to blame. No matter how much everyone told her she had no fault in what happened she knew she did. She was her father's daughter, she knew she could've found a way to stop him and put a stop to his actions. She could've saved the town. She could've saved her friends.
All of Andrea's time in Hawkins, leaving the lab, and finding a home for herself... she had been different. Unlike her sister, she had been put into a home in public. Not that she complained but there were a lot of risks at hand with that having happened. El was in hiding and lived harsher, yes, but she was safer than Andrea was.
Something deep inside Andrea screamed at her. The tattoo hidden on her wrist burned. But she wouldn't say anything about it. Instead moving away from her husband as she continued to help others. Folding clothes and putting everything in separate piles so that it was easily accessible for those who needed it.
Andrea looked up occasionally to notice how Steve had kept looking over at her. Dustin as well. Andrea looked down and continued what she knew she needed to do and acted as if she hadn't felt their gazes on her while ignoring anyone who had tried to say anything to her - unless it was one of the people trying to get something, she needed to help them to at least not feel completely disgusted with herself.
Daphne looked over and noticed as someone now stood at her side. The way the woman's blonde hair sat, her green eyes shined, but there was something more sinister to it. Andrea halted her actions in folding one of the articles of clothing upon realizing who she looked like.
Evelyn Brenner. Andrea blinked as if trying to make sure she was seeing this correctly, even moving to look away from the woman and too look back. But it was like everything around her had become frozen in time. Everything except the woman who looked as lively as ever.
"You're dead," Andrea spoke simply, trying to act as unbothered as possible as she finished folding the article of clothing that she held in her hands, "So, who is this allusion thanks to? Vecna?" Andrea scoffed and shook her head, "Of course, he's supposed to be dead but knowing him I doubt that it is likely."
For a moment, the woman stood silently before she smoothed out her white skirt and smiled an odd smile, "They've underestimated your father, darling."
"You talk as if you are a real person," Andrea felt the tattoo on her wrist begin to burn even worse, but this time it felt as if the pain was spreading all through her body, "What is this?"
"What is what?" Her voice was smooth, it reminded Andrea of a teacher with how she held her mannerisms, "This isn't a joke, Andrea."
Andrea made a face at her words, looking back at the pile of clothing before feeling movement behind her. Not wanting to deal with this - it felt like it was too soon. It was too overwhelming for her. Just as it always had been. Fuck, why can't I handle shit? Just man up.
When she looked back, everything had went back to normal. Everyone was moving, there was no woman in white, nothing. Not a single thing had been out of place and the clothing that Andrea had folded up? It was not folded.
Andrea shook her head as if trying to clear out her mind before looking over at her brother, trying to make sure that he was alright. Though, she immediately noticed who he had walked over too. It was the missing poster in his hands that had caught Dustin's attention.
"Mr. Munson?" Dustin called out to the much older man, Andrea slid away from her spot and began to walk over ready to help her brother.
Dustin sat down his tray and began to limp over to Eddie Munson's uncle as the other man turned around to face him. Andrea managed to get through a few people and stood near the two watching the exchange.
"I'm Dustin Henderson," His voice was so fragile, it broke Andrea's heart, "Can we talk?" He asked even softer.
The older man shook his head before turning to face Dustin yet again, "I can't imagine we got anything to talk about," He almost snapped as he looked at the boy, "My nephew is innocent. He's still missing," He was clearly saddened by this, "I'll put up as many posters as I need until he's found," The man picked up his stuff and began to walk away but Andrea blocked him, "Good day to you."
"I was with him," The man's attention turned back to Dustin instead of Andrea now, "I was with him when the earthquake hit," The sound of crying became louder and louder and Andrea's lips tugged into a frown watching her brother.
The way the man looked down before looking back at the young boy and asking, "And... where is Eddie now?" It was clear he had an idea that Eddie had not made it, but he didn't want to believe it as any family member did.
Dustin's lip quivered as tears sprung into his eyes which made Andrea quickly walk over to her brother, ignoring her own pain as she wrapped an arm around his shoulders, "It's okay," Andrea whispered silently as she watched him try to fight his own tears.
Dustin pulled a necklace out of his pocket before holding it out, moving forward with his sister as his voice broke, "I'm... I'm so sorry," The way Dustin was shattering as Mr. Munson looked at the necklace and began crying as he walked over to a cot.
Andrea kept her hands on her brother as she helped him over as well upon seeing that is where he wanted to go, the two men in morning over the Munson boy, "He was a wonder," Andrea whispered trying to help steer the mood.
Dustin gave his sister a thankful look through his sorrows, "I wish everyone had gotten to know him. Really know him. Because they would've loved him, Mr. Munson. They would've loved him. Even in the end... he never stopped being Eddie. Despite everything. I never even saw him get mad. He could've run. He could've saved himself. But he fought. He fought and died to protect this town. This town that... hated him," Dustin was crying as well as Mr. Munson who began to sob while holding the necklace close.
"Eddie never let anyone bully anybody. Not even me and when all of this went down, he put his fears aside," Andrea whispered as she tried to fight the tears that pricked against her waterline.
"He isn't just innocent... Mr. Munson he's... he's a hero," Dustin couldn't help but say which caused the man to weep harder.
Andrea leaned against the cot and pulled her younger brother close to her as she rubbed his back soothingly, trying to help calm him down and deal with his emotions. She didn't care how she felt in the moment, wanting nothing more than to help Dustin as he had helped her.
Once he had calmed down, Andrea rose to her feet before walking over to the table once more as she looked at the cloth that she swore she folded. Going to fold it once again before she looked out, something telling her to go somewhere.
It was unusual for something to be like this. She never had just a feeling to go somewhere on her own for whatever reason. It was almost like something was beckoning her. Calling her from a distance until she came.
"What is it?" Steve had walked over to her side as he noticed how she continued to stare out at the distance, "What's going on in that brain of yours?"
Andrea's gaze snapped back to Steve as she took a deep breath, "Nothing," She tried to push it off and act like there wasn't something trying to get her.
Steve gave her a sharp look as he put a hand on his side, "Andy, what's going on?"
Andrea chewed on her lip before shrugging her shoulders. Trying to gather her thoughts before she would say anything. Placing down another piece of fabric before feeling another sharp pain before hearing something that almost sounded like her name in the wind.
Andrea swallowed thickly before looking at Steve, grabbing his hand as her eyes moved back and forth as if she was reading something. Which Steve knew was not a good sign if she was struggling to figure out how to explain something.
"Is it your powers?" Steve questioned, now going full mom mode while trying to find the root of whatever was happening, "Is it something like that? Accidentally visioning yourself?"
Andrea let out a small laugh before shaking her head, "No. I can't use my ability on myself as far as I know, and I can't make myself hear things..."
That seemed to pull some sort of alarm with Steve as he shook his head, now clearly going into a panic. Letting go of the girl's hand momentarily before he placed both hands against the table looking at her. Waiting for her to say more on the matter.
"So you're sure that this is still happening?" Steve couldn't help but ask quietly, wanting nothing more than for her to deny it but he knew she wouldn't.
"Steve," Andrea sighed as she looked over at him, a look of distraught clearly cascading down on her features, "I'm sure."
That seemed to set it in stone for the two. Andrea and El hadn't ended it. No one had ended it. Everything they had done, was for absolutely nothing at all. They're attempts were all failure. They're attempts were all simple things that had taken up their time yet had not proven anything.
Steve shook his head before pushing himself away from the table, taking a moment to get his anger out as he walked out the door of the school. Andrea sighed and tugged at her curls feeling as if she shouldn't have said anything. She feared that this... this had only made things worse.
Dustin looked over at her as well as Robin, Andrea forced a smile before she walked out the doors while trying to follow after her husband. Hearing the clash of the trashcans and metal hitting the ground with every kick he had swiftly handed to it.
Andrea adjusted her posture wincing as a slight pain shot through her head before she could hear her voice in the wind again. Trying to ignore it and keep her attention on her husband in front of her who had turned upon feeling her gaze on him.
"Are you okay?" He asked softly as he walked over to her, carefully placing both of his hands on either of her arms, "Please... please tell me. I know how your mind works and -"
"I'm fine," Andrea gave him a soft look as she looked at him before almost feeling as if someone else had touched her back, "But something's calling me Steve, and I can't keep ignoring it."
"Andrea, no," Steve shook his head before noticing how she had backed away, "Andrea don't you go after it. No, no, no, no! Not a good idea!"
That didn't seem to phase Andrea though, who as she turned noticed the woman again before the woman took off in a sprint, Andrea turned to look back at her husband again giving him an apologetic look as he continuously shook his head and wiggled his finger while repeatedly saying no.
"Sorry, Steve," Andrea apologized before following after the woman without so much of a second thought.
Andrea ran after the woman who ran in front of her. Not caring that she was running through the woods like a mad woman. She needed to know what was happening and why it was happening. She was sure that Steve was somewhere behind, trying to keep up with her before he'd lecture her that she shouldn't be overdoing it like this.
Not that she cared, at the moment her main concern was following this... this thing to wherever it seemed to go. That is what she cared about at the moment. She knew that it would lead her to wherever it wanted and maybe there she'd finally get some answers about what was happening. Or she'd get answers on why it wanted her to go there and what it wanted with her.
Andrea ignored every bit of pain that surged through her body with every movement. Ignoring the crying of her ribs, the pain in her wrist that felt like electricity, and the hazy feeling that followed her. She had to push through it all. She had to figure this out. She needed to protect the last of her friends, the last ones that had managed to survive through her weakness.
Andrea noticed how they had come to a clearing. A clearing that was almost familiar, she had definitely been here before at some point. Whether she had actually been there or it had simply been a fever dream, she knew at one point she had stood where she stood now.
The woman in front of her turned, that was until she disappeared from Andrea's sight with almost made her groan. The girl ran her hands over her face and through her hair before looking around. Seeing the dead grass that resided around her before noticing the giant red wall that stood before her.
It almost looked like part of the Upside Down. Like some sort of portal that had once existed, but it was different from the other ones. Something about it called to her, telling her to touch it. She tried to resist the urge as she let both of her hands fall to her sides. Refusing to be sucked in by this... this thing.
"What the hell is happening," Andrea couldn't help but mutter to herself as she kept herself a safe distance away, peeking through it to see almost like a distorted reflection except... it wasn't her standing on the other side.
It was a dark figure about her height. Their eyes were glowing, that was really one of the only facial details that she could make out. The hood over their head left a casting of darkness over their face, but from under the hood came out blonde curls that resided over their chest.
Andrea made a face as she tilted her head, this other thing copying her actions. Not only was it wearing a odd and distorted red cloak, it had some sort of weird dress that hid beneath. Burns and vine like shapes also resided over it's body which made the girl back up.
It reached it's hand out. Almost as if trying to press it against the red fold that had appeared. Trying to break free from whatever prison it seemed to be held in on this other side, trying to get Andrea to help as well.
Andrea sucked in a breath before she couldn't help but walk forward, lifting her hand as well. Getting close to get the red before her finger pricked the surface, in a matter of seconds it began to crack like shards of glass before it's hand grabbed a hold of her wrist.
Andrea tried to drag her wrist back before she completely stopped. Now catching sight of what truly had been across the other side and what had been holding her... the way her head slightly turned and her eyes glowed...
"Andrea!" Steve yelled as he freaked out from behind her, coming close before backing up upon seeing the power that circled around her, "Oh my god."
