Andrea's body was laid down on the flatness of the ground as Steve began to try to perform CPR on her. He knew how long he had before she was truly gone. He had to be fast and he had to finish this now. He had to get her back.
He continued to do chest compressions before he pinched her nose and delivered rescue breaths before repeating the process while the others watched in horror. Watching Steve try over and over again to get Andrea to breathe.
To bring her back.
"Come on! Come on! Andy, don't give up on me!" Steve exclaimed as he continued his actions.
"Steve..." Nancy trailed off as she watched before everyone stopped in their tracks.
A gasp left Andrea's lips causing Steve to watch her carefully. Her chest began to rise and fall on its own yet again, Andrea Harrington was alive.
And what a relief it was.
"CALL 911!" Steve yelled at Nancy who just stood and watched.
Robin let go of Dustin who then dropped down at his sister yet again, "Andrea, I swear... when you wake up I'm going to..."
"They can't come, everything's shut down," Nancy looked over to Steve, "If we're getting her there we'll have to take her."
"Dammit!"
Even though every one of them were fighting, Andrea simply sat in the darkness of her mind.
Finding herself back in her memories.
"Holy shit... I think we should've waited until you could rent it at the store, man. I love me some Tom Cruise but damn Steve, there's a shit ton of people I hate!" Andrea was running her hands through her hair while holding the ICEE that Steve had bought for them to drink while watching Top Gun.
"And miss out of the whole movie theater shabang? Do you even know me, Andy?!" Steve's flare for the dramatics became more evident as he rolled his eyes at the woman he loved, "Do you even know me?"
Andrea let her head fall back as she let out a loud groan at his actions "Steve, babe. There is like a really high chance I'm going to end up fighting a bitch. You gonna take that chance?"
Steve simply held her closer as they stood in the middle of the theater lobby, Andrea was really questioning him at the moment, "It'll be fine! I know how to keep an eye on you after all this time and I made sure to save the best seats in the house, so that's gotta give me some points, right?"
"Who the hell owed you a favor?" Andrea questioned as her arms crossed tightly over her chest.
He winked at Andrea as he managed to press a kiss to the corner of her lips, "I have people everywhere."
Andrea rolled her eyes as she nudged his hip with her own, "That sounds pathetic."
Steve simply bumped hips with her in return before he whispered into her ear, "Don't make me use some swift Harrington charm on you, babe."
Andrea found herself growing red at his words as she cut him a sharp look. Giving a shake of her head as she began to pull herself away from her grip but he managed to keep ahold of her. A smirk resided on his lips as he looked at her.
"In your dreams, Harrington."
"You're right. it is in my dreams," That comment made Andrea's entire face look like a tomato.
The two got into the movie rather quickly, preparing for whatever the hell they were about to watch. Both as equally excited, though, Steve was secretly wanting to get annoyed at Andrea so that he could get more attention from her.
"yeah, focus on dumb planes...or Tom Cruise's ass."
"Excuse me, you have a boyfriend who is sitting right here," Steve found himself pointing back at himself as if reminding Andrea of his presence and status.
"Whatever, Harrington. I can stare at your ass later to make it up to you."
The inside of the theater wasn't that packed, definitely not shoulder-to-shoulder, but still enough people to make you uncomfortable. But Andrea did not care, she was going to make herself as comfortable as she pleased.
But Andrea had to admit, Steve chose some pretty damn good seats. Literally the middle of the back rows with the best view. So, go Steve.
The previews were for the most part over, so Andrea wouldn't have to complain over how long it took for the movie to actually play.
This theater was absolutely bonkers. Andrea was not sure how to feel because how loud people would start screaming. As soon as "TOP GUN" flashed over and up on screen, everyone literally began to bellow and roar as loud as they could. They cheered for every actor, and started clapping when danger zone started to play.
Andrea had to be restrained to her seat by Steve because she was ready to get up and jam to the song.
The movie progressed rather quickly. Andrea quickly forgot about everyone in the room as she practically drooled at Val Kilmer and Tom Cruise. She could tell that Steve was beginning to get a twinge of jealousy but she could make up for that later.
"Oh my god..." Andrea whispered at the volleyball scene, "FUCKING HELL LOOK AT THAT ASS!"
"Babe," Steve was quick to scold her as he faked a pout while looking at her, "We're at the movies, and what about my ass? What about me?"
"I'll make it up to you in bed later," was Andrea's simple response as she took a sip of the cherry ICEE.
Andrea did not miss the look that passed over Steve's face through the darkness of the movies. The look was something between lust and shock. Almost as if he hadn't expected her to say anything.
And as the lights turned back on, Andrea turned to Steve with a large pout. Not wanting to movie to end and being completely in love with every man that had passed over the screen while in her view.
Andrea raised an eyebrow at the man's expression, "The fuck are you looking at like that?"
Steve let out a chuckle at her act, "You. Was it good?"
Andrea rolled her eyes as a small grin made it's way onto her lips, "Yeah, whatever. it was great. First of all, Goose's death was fucking ridiculous. I'm suing. But also those men's asses in that volleyball scene... their bodies... shit."
"Oh come on! No more talking about them," Steve let out a loud groan as he rose to his feet as well, "You have me. I'm way hotter."
Andrea made a face as her lips released the ICEE's straw while one hand fell on her hip while she gave Steve a firm look, "I love you. I really do. But have you fucking seen those men? Darling, you're really hot don't get me wrong..."
"I'm never taking you to the movies again."
"You say that now, but I have you wrapped around my little finger," Andrea laughed as she followed Steve out.
"Sadly but I dunno... with how you talked about those men..."
"Awwww is my little Stevie jealous? Hm, I'm giving you a callsign. Uh... maybe a flower. Oh! Hyacinth."
"Ha ha. very sweet of you, Andy, but i think i deserve something a little cooler than a flower. Like, look at me? I'm intimidating so maybe something along the lines of maverick, maybe iceman?"
Andrea slid back into Steve's car as she scoffed at his answer, finding it absurd, "So you just wanna steal the ones from the movie that are already taken that I am in love with? Why not be original by my standards? I'm offended."
"ass-hat."
"Suck my dick," Andrea retorted as she adjusted herself in the seat.
Steve made a suggestive look which caused Andrea to snap her fingers at Steve with a look that said it all. They were going to his house for the night since Dustin was off late with Hellfire and Andrea felt like staying somewhere that wasn't her own home.
Steve kept looking over at Andrea during the drive. Almost ran out of the vehicle to get her out of the car once they had pulled into his driveway.
Steve practically forced open the passenger's side door as he was quick to pick Andrea up before she had time to react, "Thoughts on flighter pilot, Harrington? Does it sound hot?"
Andrea began to hit his back as he carried her into his home, "Steve, you flying a plain sounds deadlier than me driving on the roads. Like, don't get me wrong your ass would probably look nice as hell in one of those suits... damn it! You're..."
"Making you horny? That's the point," Steve always pulled something like this. He thought it was funny and seeing his girlfriend's reactions to different things in movies that she would end up finding attractive made him lose his shit.
"God, sometimes I want to... ugh!" Andrea let out a sigh as she tried to get herself down but Steve wasn't too kean on letting her down.
And then Andrea found herself hearing the voices of others that weren't her memories. Was her mind frazzled out? I mean, she was dead after all.... right?
But her eyes managed to peel open as she caught sight of the hospital room that she now sat in. Steve was asleep with his head leaning against the hospital bed while Dustin was asleep with his head resting on her arm.
Oh, so I'm not dead.
Andrea was adjusting to the area before she internally began to freak out which caused the monitor that she was hooked up to begin to beat wildly causing both boys to wake up.
"Woah! Andrea, breathe," Dustin was the first one to speak as he gripped the hand that she had just been laying on, "You're okay."
"You're alive," Steve kept repeating as he was on his feet as well, "You're safe."
Andrea wasn't too sure about the safe bit though. After all, she was currently sitting in a hospital bed which also kinda made her vulnerable.
"You aren't in the Lab," Dustin must've realized that was what began to freak her out, "You're at Hawkins Memorial. You're safe," Dustin repeated as he looked at Steve.
Everything slowly began to trickle back into Andrea's mind. The death of Eddie Munson... Max. It was all her fault yet here she was, alive and breathing.
"Don't," Steve looked at her with a stern look, "I know what you are doing. You're blaming yourself."
"I could've done more," Andrea's voice was barely there, it was hoarse, "I..."
"You died for them," Steve's tone became sharp and Andrea paused as she looked between the two boys.
Dustin's brown eyes were sunken and riddled with eye bags that were clearly evident against his skin. His eyes were red and puffy, it was clear that he had been crying. He still had the dirt and grime that covered him from the Upside Down.
Then there was Steve, his look nearly mimicked Dustin's but he still wore what he had when they were in the Upside Down following the plan that they had set out. It was clear he hadn't left her side and that only made Andrea feel even worse about it.
"You can't say you didn't do anything. You pushed your limits way beyond what you should've - you knew it too! Do you know how stupid that was? You killed yourself because you couldn't get yourself to back down!" Steve exclaimed as his features became struck with deep worry and mourning.
"Steve," Dustin shook his head trying to get the man to lighten up a bit on the woman who was currently laying in the hospital bed.
Andrea's eyebrows furrowed together before she looked at her left hand, realizing that the paper ring had been slipped back on it, "I didn't want to be the reason we lost... I didn't want to be the reason they died," Her stutter was still prominent even for her lack of voice.
"There was nothing that you could've done," Steve seemed scared to touch Andrea but he slowly pressed a kiss to her forehead, "Please... Please never do that to me again. Poor Dustin over here... you scared us."
Andrea felt the quiver of her bottom lip as she grabbed at both of their hands, wincing at the pain her entire body was in, "I'm so fucking sorry."
Neither blamed her for anything but now came the hard part.
Explaning the loses to Andrea while she sat in her hospital bed.
Andrea sat and listened quietly. Tears slid down her cheeks as each boy took turns explaining everything to her. Finding out what had happened to Max... she wasn't dead but she was practically at this point... that really hit Andrea hard knowing that she was one of the last people to talk to her.
And then there was Eddie Munson who died a hero's death. Refusing to keep running. Keeping Dustin safe before dying in the boy's arms after he took charge and directed the bats away from the people that were trying to kill Venca. he died for them.
"How are you feeling?" Dustin asked softly as he adjusted his hospital chair at the woman's side.
"My entire body hurts. My ribs are killing me and I feel cold," Andrea explained as her eyes dragged over the room.
"Robin sent you flowers," Steve pointed out trying to make something good of the moment, "You really scared her."
Andrea managed the smallest smile, "Glad that I can make people feel various emotions," Honestly, she had no clue where she was going with that but it didn't stop her from speaking.
Dustin shook his head as he managed a tiny smile while listening to his sister before adding, "Oh, and Mom now knows about the secret marriage."
"Ohhh," Andrea's face went even whiter than it already was, "Shit."
"She wasn't mad," Steve was quick to say, "But she's definitely making us have some sort of makeup wedding."
"I want the others here for it so she can wait," Andrea huffed before a sigh left her lips, she wouldn't have Max to be her best girl.
"I've lost so many people in such a short span. My father, don't say it, I know he was bad but at one point he cared. He still did care about me even though he has this sick twisted belief... he let go of you because I was ready to die. He wouldn't hurt me," Tears slipped down her cheeks.
And no one said anything after that not wanting to upset the girl any further.
Two days had passed since everything had happened. It had merely been one day since Andrea woke up after her meeting with death.
Andrea had been cleared from the Hospital and she now stood leaning against Steve as her sides were bandaged. Bruises littered her face and body as her hospital band still rested on her wrist since she had been discharged just that morning.
Karen Wheeler had forced the girl to sit in the chair knowing that she had died before being brought back. Everyone was being hands-on with the woman making sure that she didn't strain herself any more than she already had.
Karen held a box of Nancy's belongings as everyone except Andrea stood outside of the Wheeler home, loading things into Steve's vehicle, "Hey Nance! I found some more of your old stuff in the attic."
Nancy walked over to her mother as she began to look in the box before letting out a gasp, "Mr. Rabbit!"
"It's okay if you wanna save him, you know?" Karen held a slight grin as she looked at her daughter.
Nancy shook her head as she sighed before placing him back in the box, "No, he'll be more loved in a new home."
Nancy took the box before she placed it in the car. Andrea rose to her feet with a groan as she began to hold her ribs while Karen was quick to get over to the girl as she began to speak.
"Did someone order a pizza?" Karen asked as she made sure that Andrea wasn't straning as she stood.
"Pizza?" Dustin questioned as his voice got high-pitched.
Everyone watched out as a Surfer Boy Pizza truck pulled around. Outstepping some weird guy before showing them their friends.
"Oh my god," Andrea laughed before groaning in pain as they stared at one another.
"Mom!" Mike yelled.
"Hey!"
Will ran and hugged Dustin and Andrea with full force causing a slight groan from the girl. She was so happy to see her friends.
"I may have died but shit!" Andrea yelled causing everyone to look at her with wide eyes, "I really brought us all together!"
"Please no more death jokes," Steve found himself yelling back at the woman he loved while everyone had their reunion.
"You died?" Will found himself looking horrified before he scanned over Andrea.
"Steve did CPR and cowabunga, I'm back," Andrea made a face before holding out her wrist that held her hospital band, "Got discharged this morning."
"Where's Lucas?" Will found himself asking as he kept close to Andrea noticing how she was in pain.
"At the hospital," Dustin explained as his expression began to fall.
"Was he hurt?" Eleven asked worriedly as she stared at Dustin.
"No. No... he's..." Dustin trailed off realizing that they had no clue, "Oh god. You don't know."
Eleven and Will looked back and forth at each other worriedly before the explanations began. Dustin explained about Max's condition and Andrea had to peel herself out of this conversation as she limped over to the other's, sliding past Nancy and Jonathan.
"Hey! Andrea," it seemed Jonathan wanted to talk to her though, "Are you okay?"
"I died and came back to find others dead," Andrea managed to give a small shrug of her shoulders, "I don't think that I've ever been better. Did I mention, you're girlfriend bullied me and I got married?"
Obviously, there was a lot to unpack there.
Andrea couldn't bring herself to go back to the hospital. Finding herself in the back of Steve's BMW as they drove down to the Middle School to help out. She needed to donate things off and help the others pass things around to the people in need.
Andrea needed to help others. Even if Steve tried to hold her back she'd do it somehow. She felt responsible for what happened to the town. So many people were dead and missing. Andrea felt responsible for everything and inside it was eating her up more than she'd like to admit.
