Natalie knew what was coming when Mary said "your grandmother is on her way". She knew what that meant. She took a deep breath to prepare herself. To make matters worse, Sheldon is yapping about what she did wrong, which only made it worse.
Not even a minute later, she heard knocking, which made her close her eyes for a moment. When Mary opened the door, there stood Florence, wearing a floral shirt, and some jeans along with a pair of shoes. Natalie avoided looking at her grandmother, knowing what's going to happen.
When Flo made eye contact with her granddaughter, she nodded her head to the door, and Natalie got up and followed her grandmother without another word. "Thank you, Mary. I shall take it from here." She says to the blonde woman who nods her head. "Bye Nattie" Missy says as Natalie flashed a peace sign without turning back to Missy.
Natalie and her grandmother walked to the 1967 Ford Mustang which is a blue color, and Natalie gets in the passenger seat and puts on her seat belt.
"Are you mad?" Natalie asked her grandmother, already knowing the answer. She nervously glanced over at her grandmother who had started the car and started driving.
What didn't make any sense is that, they didn't go home. She didn't want to think about that part. As part of her didn't want to go home in the first place.
"Not completely." Her grandmother says which made Natalie furrowed her eyebrows, like she was speaking a language she didn't know.
"W-wait, seriously. You're not mad I cussed at the teacher and broke the door?" Natalie says confused.
"Personally, I never liked that door and it was bound to get torn down." Her grandmother says as Natalie continues to look at her grandmother confused.
Is she for real right now?
"I'm still confused. Why aren't you mad that I literally broke property." Natalie says as her grandmother shakes her head at her granddaughter.
"Do you want me to be?" Her grandmother asked her as Natalie nodded her head.
"I guess." Natalie says as she is processing what just happened.
"Well then. I am very mad at you." Florence says as Natalie raised an eyebrow.
"I still don't by that." Natalie says as her grandmother isn't one to get mad that much. Which is fine in all, but there should be a certain line. Natalie looked at her grandmother confused as they weren't going in the direction of the house. "Where are we going?"
Without looking at her granddaughter, she said. "I have to get stuff for dinner. Your mom is working late tonight, and won't get done until really late."
Natalie nods her head as she leaned back into her seat. "When you do see, Mary, just lie and say that you are grounded." Florence says which made Natalie look at her grandmother weirdly as she didn't condone lying. That is the main rule that her grandma had told her.
"Why? You told me--" Natalie says before her grandma cut her off before she could finish her sentence.
"Don't you lie any other time?" Her grandma says which wasn't wrong at Natalie would lie about anything and everything. She lied about breaking her foot when she was seven years old.
"Only if I could get the good root beer, then you're sold."
"How about that and McDonald's." Florence says which made Natalie nod her head with a smile. That and also because she is getting McDonald's which is her favorite place to eat at. Which isn't probably the healthiest but who really cares anyway.
<later>
After they got back from the grocery store and McDonalds, Natalie decided it was time to clean her room for once. She isn't really big on cleaning her room willingly, but luckily it was mainly dirty clothes and her converse that was on the floor. Along with empty pop cans.
Of course the two dogs were in her room which is fine. Her grandpa is either sleeping or watching TV. Or is watching TV but he fell asleep. One of the other.
After Natalie was done picking up her room that's when her grandma called her for dinner. After dinner Natalie sighed of how quiet the house was. She grabbed her Stephen King book which was IT and Pet Cementary (she is brave enough to read those horror books), went out to the back porch, with the dogs as they are glued to her. Which is fine as is used to it.
She doesn't mind it. It gets her out of the house. She had a boombox right next to her and she had a rock cassette tape collection and she randomly grabbed a cassette tape, and she put it into her boombox and she sighed as Bon Jovi's long Livin On A Prayer, was playing. It was her and Georgie's favorite song for some reason.
later
Natalie was still on the back porch, a couple hours later. Her grandmother had came out and gave her dinner, as she didn't want to come back inside for dinner as in her defense she was comfortable where she was sitting. She didn't want to get up, as she would have to get re-comfortable and that is too much work for her to do. So, her grandmother had left her in her world.
That and she was also engrossed in her book that she was reading. She is now halfway through, IT, and listening to an Elvis Presley song. What caught her attention was voices that was in the house as it sounded like an argument. She turned off her boombox to listen to the argument she wanted to eavesdrop as she recognized one of the voices sounded like her father.
"Why the fuck is he here?" Natalie mumbled under her breath as Sly's ears perked up at hearing the girl's voice. "Yeah, I have the same thought you do." She says as of Sly could talk back to her. She grabbed her books as the dogs immediately got up and when Natalie had opened the back door, the dogs walked back inside.
Natalie looked up when she saw two bodies. One of them she barely recognized but when she saw his small smile that was creeping on the corner of his lips, she recognized the person as her father. Thomas Adams.
The other person who was arguing with her father was her grandmother and her uncle Charles, or Charlie. "Hey, Nattie." Charles says to his niece as Nat smiles at seeing her uncle as she moved around her father to hug her uncle.
"No hug for me?" Her father asked as he had his arms. Natalie looked at her father as she broke the hug with her uncle. Nat gave her father a hard glare which made him slowly lower his arms. "No, okay." He says to his daughter.
Natalie continues to glare at her father as she took a step towards him. "You left me and mom when I was eight, and when I finally see you again, the first thing you say to me is: no hug for me? Pathetic." Natalie retorts to her father as his mouth gap slightly at hearing the words coming out of his daughter's mouth.
When Natalie walked away from ber father and Charles held onto his brother's arm restraining him from going after his daughter. "Natalie, get over here now!"
"You aren't going to make me do shit!" Natalie shouted back to her father as Charles wasn't going to let go of his brother and the father of Natalie.
The dogs followed the teenager to her room which is why she kept her door open. When the dogs were in her room that is when she closed her bedroom door. Which she might have slammed it. Whoops.
a couple hours ago
Her father left already which saves Natalie's sanity because she cannot stand her father in the first place. She has so many grudges against her father that it isn't funny. But deep inside of her she is afraid of her father. When he gets drunk ge gets abusive and violent. No wonder why her mother left him.
"Nat, come here please." Was her grandma Florence which made the girl get off of her bed and open the door. She walked to where her grandmother was. She held thr phone in her hand which made the girl look at her grandmother confusedly. "Someone wants to talk to you." She says to her granddaughter, which only made her more confused.
The teenager warily grabbed the phone as she was skeptical of who it could be. She doesn't really talk to that many people. Mainly Georgie, and Missy as she doesn't have any friends. Well she does but they live in California and she had forgotten their names. They weren't that bad actually, they wete pretty nice actually.
Natalie put the phone to her ear as she listened to the voice that was on the other end of the phone. "Hey, Nia." Said the other person who Natalie thought would never talk to her again.
Georgie.
