Hyunjin sat in his bed, rubbing his beloved dog's belly with such a big amount of love in his eyes. The dog enjoyed the extra treatment it was getting from the boy, not moving a single inch to make sure Hyunjin didn't stop. "Okay that's it. That's all I can do, Kkami! I have work to do." He stated, taking his hands away from the dog and searching for his homework.

The little canine whined, sitting up under him and nudging his hand a little to give him the signal of what it wanted. Hyunjin rolled his eyes, grabbing his dog gently before placing Kkami on the ground. "I love you a lot but I really don't want to mess up my grades. This is for a really big grade." He told the dog as if it could understand the meaning behind it. The dog only tilted its head sideways in conversation before jumping back in the bed and taking place beside him.

Hyunjin held in a groan, but the let the dog have what it wanted. He spoiled Kkami like a child, it was kinda crazy what this dog could and couldn't get away with. Finally Hyunjin pulled out all the work he needed to do for school. It was a extra long essay that he really didn't want to start, seeing as that thing had to be at least four pages long and hand written. But he knew that if he received a terrible grade that his mom would be furious, and he didn't want to feel with her wrath.

So with that, he went into his music apps to began to play some of his favorite Got7 songs, and got to work. He didn't know how long writing this whole essay thing would take... but he hoped it wouldn't be long. Hyunjin didn't really want to be working on this essay all night. He didn't have enough brain power for that.

Suddenly his phone buzzed and he reached over to take it in his hand. Yet he stopped midway, hesitating to pick it up. "I'm supposed to be working on this essay... if I grab my phone I'll never get off of it." He told himself, retracting his hand from the cellular device. Hyunjin grabbed and pencil and stared at his blank sheet of paper in front of him.

No matter how hard he stared at the paper, he couldn't think of a way to start the essay. His creativity and writing skills that he already didn't have were at a all time low currently. "The..." He spoke, writing down the exact word down onto his paper. After staring at the word for a good few minutes he shoved everything off his bed and grabbed his phone. "Whatever, I'll just do it later."

He unlocked his phone after admiring a very pretty picture he took of his dog that was the lock screen and noticed that he had a text message. "Oh, that must be what made my phone vibrate..." he said to himself as he opened up his messages. He scrolled through his contacts, searching for the person who texted him. Hyunjin scrolled past texts with his mom, a group chat with his friends, and a couple of others before landing the contact that had texted him.

The contact name went simply by "DOYEON" unlike like his group chat with Changbin and Felix that went by "The Crazy Foreigner, the Dark Upperclassmen, and Touchy Giant" (which also went by "ChangJinLix" whenever they were feeling normal). This immediately meant that whoever texted him was not fully acquainted with Hyunjin yet. But thing was that this "Doyeon" was fully acquainted with him actually, this was the girl that he claimed to be currently liking.

He'd known this Doyeon for awhile now, and he was attracted to her throughout his entire middle school and high school year. He could remember the first time he heard of her when he was in the 7th grade, she was the "pretty girl from Wonju". She was a year older him, so she was always just a little out of reach from him when they were younger as his school separated the grades. Now that they were in school, the grades were constantly mixing together and he got to see her more often.

If he was being honest, he couldn't remember how he even got her number. Maybe he got it through Changbin since he was in the same grade as her? Or was it just some weird consequence that he had somehow met her and the two just... started talking. No matter what though, he didn't stutter like an idiot in front of Doyeon like he did with the class president. Not once did he ever tumbled and freeze up when she spoke to him.

He stared at the text message for a good while, not knowing how to respond to it. He didn't want to leave the girl on read, but he didn't know what to say. Oddly enough Hyunjin only started to question his responses to Doyeon ever since he met his class president. "What am I going to do Kkami?" He asked his dog, falling back into the bed. The dog jumped from the sudden movement, but adjusted quickly to the situation.

Kkami places itself right on Hyunjin's chest, all comfy and cozy without a worry in site. He stared at his dog long and hard before glancing towards his phone a couple of times. He turned it off and placed the phone on the charger before going to shower the dog with love. "I think I like Doyeon... but everyone keeps telling me I like the class president. It's so weird, I don't really know how to deal with this." He admitted to his dog.

The dog wasn't really paying attention to him though, it was enjoying the easily earned petting it was getting now. Hyunjin couldn't conceal a goofy smile as he sat up and mushed Kkami's face with his hands. "Actually I don't like either of them. My one true love is you, Kkami!" He the told the canine, gaining the dog's approval as it barked in response.

And then he heard it, glass shattering loudly onto the ground that interrupted his music. He winced hearing the painful sound, turning off the music and glancing towards the door. "What... was that?" Hyunjin mumbled, getting off the bed and walking towards the door. He walked past all his step brother's belongings before opening up the door and peering from behind it. Kkami followed behind, its tail wagging as it found interest in the noise.

There was nothing in the hallways that looked like it caused the shattering sound, so it was no longer any of Hyunjin's business. He went to close the door before hearings pitiful voice echo through the hall,"Dad? I need some help..." Hyunjin immediately identified the voice as Jeongin's and he was definitely sure that he was calling the step father from the kitchen. Hyunjin swung the door opened and proceeded to walk down the hall with Kkami by his side to investigate the matter further.

After traveling down the spiraling stairs, he slowly approach the kitchen. There stood a guilty looking Jeongin, holding his arm in pain and staring down at the floor. Hyunjin glanced past the boy to see plates broken down into pieces on the ground, with blood splattered on certain pieces. "I'm so telling my mom." Hyunjin said, a little too loud for it too be only himself to hear.

Jeongin whipped his head around behind him, his eyes widening when he spotted Hyunjin and Kkami watching him. "You don't tell her anything! I swear to— ow!" He yelped, wincing as he held his arm even tighter now. Hyunjin examined the boy further to discover that Jeongin's arm was scarred, most likely from those plates that were cover in blood.

So what Hyunjin could figure out from this whole scene was this: Jeongin was trying to get some plates out of the cabinet, but they fell out and one hit his arm and caused the bleeding that's here. "If you think my mom is going to get mad at you from dropping some plates, you're wrong." Hyunjin explained, walking over to him. Jeongin glared at him as he got closer, but Hyunjin was used to the glaring and side eyes now.

He grabbed Jeongin's arm and pointing to the nasty scar that was presenting. "This is what my mom would be worried over. Not some dumb plates." Hyunjin stated. Jeongin bit back a yelp of pain and he let go off him, watching his step brother went searching for something to cover up the scar with. "You wait here, I'll get something to help with the scar." He offered.

"I'm fine, I don't need help from you." Jeongin declared, debating on whether or not he was going to use a paper towel or search for a bandaid. Hyunjin watched the boy struggle, rolling his eyes as he walked away from the kitchen.

"Okay then Mr. "I can do everything by myself". Good luck finding those bandaids and cleaning your nasty scar." He mumbled under his breath, walking away back to their shared room. Through the boy stopped in his tracks when he saw his dog staring back at him, as if Kkami was urging him to go back and help Jeongin out. Hyunjin crossed his arms and spoke,"He said he doesn't need help, so I'm not going to help. Let him bleed out for all I care!"

All Kkami did was stare back at him with its beady eyes but that was enough to make Hyunjin reconsider. He huffed, shoving his hands in his pockets. "I mean... I know what would be bad but Kkami, he said he didn't want my help!" He reasoned before the hallway when silent. All your could hear was Jeongin rummaging through drawers to look for something to help him. Hyunjin sighed,"I have a feeling he's going to do something stupid... fine. Jeongin! I'm coming back!"
