Caved In

Bri’s POV

“Gooch! Schwoz! Don’t leave!” I yelled as Gooch and Schwoz scurry out the door, and then Sofia came and she almost fell but she caught herself before he made contact with the ground.

“Let’s try to cheer Ray up?” Henry suggested, but they were gone.

Sofia was standing at the door heavily confused by what was happening and approached us.

“What are Gooch and Schwoz running from?” She asked us and I sighed.

“Dad. Because he’s in a really bad mood.” I tell her and she has a box of churros, in her hand, and she hands me and Henry one.

“I’ll have one once we get downstairs, but thanks Sof.” Henry says and Sof nods her head in understanding.

“Por que esta de mal humor?” She asks in spanish. (Why is he in a bad mood?).

“Because it’s his super anniversary.” Henry replied.

“Super…” Sofia trailed off a little.

“It’s his super anniversary of when he was eight years old, when he got densitized and became indestructible.” I explained to her, as Henry and I took out the items from the box Henry brought up.

“Ooh divertido! Deberíamos celebrato!” She says and Henry takes his churro and takes a bite out of it, and he smiles. (Ooh, fun! We should celebrate!).

“No!” Henry and I exclaimed and her face fell.

“I mean ‘No’,”. Sofia corrected herself. “But why not?”

“Dad hates his super anniversary.” I inform her and I take another bite out of my churro.

“¿Por qué?” She asks. (Why?)

“Because when our grandfather realized he was indestructible he took him out of school and started training him to be a superhero.” I explained to Sof, and she put down the box of churros on a table.

“Yeah. I remember Papa talking about that.” Sofia says, as she takes the last bite out of her churro.

“And now he feels like he missed out on all the fun stuff of being a kid.” Henry continues for me, and I also take the last bite out of my churro.

“Aw that’s so sad.” Sofia says.

“He never went camping, rode roller coasters, he never learned how to ride a bike.” I explain to her and sigh a little.

“Hmm. My Uncle Pablo never learned how to ride a bike.” Sofia says, shrugging her shoulders.

“How come?” Henry asked.

“Because when he was a kid he had bad balance, and one day, his friends dared him to ride a bike, and he did and he fell off the bike and yeah.” Sofia explains to us and we nod our heads at her.

“Poor bikes.” I commented and Sofia nodded her head.

The door opened and a little girl walked in, and she was looking for something.

“Hey.” I greeted her, and she gave me a big grin on her face.

“Need some help?” Sofia asked the girl and she looked at Sofia.

“I was just wondering if I can try out that piano over there.” She asked, and Sof looked at the piano, and she smiled a little.

When we were younger before Sofia moved to Mexico, us three would always play with the piano and learn a couple of songs, and whatnot. That’s also where our barbies would have their little recital, it was cute.

“Sure, go ahead.” Charlotte tells her and the little girl goes over to the piano, smiling.

“Remember when we would play with the piano before you went to Mexico, and our barbies would have their recitals, on top of the piano.” I explained a little and Sofia nodded her head and she blew her nose, with a tissue.

“Yeah and we would sing songs, and have the time of our lives.” Sofia says and us three were reminiscing, old times.

Flashback to when the girls were 6 years old

Third Person’s POV

“Fifi, let's play a recital!” Little 6 year old Brianna says with her tutu, and her little crown on her head, and they were at Sofia’s house. While the parents were saying goodbye to Ray. Who will miss his own two friends that he’s known since he was a kid.

“I can’t believe that you guys are moving down to Mexico.” Ray says as he takes a sip from his glass.

Sofia’s little sister Jade who is 4 years old dimmed the lights and she stepped off her stool.

“Wanna do ‘bop to the top’?” Sofia asked Brianna and Arianna, and the twins nodded their heads to the girl, and Sofia smiled at her friends.

“I’ll start first!” Sofia screached a little and the adults couldn’t help but laugh at the girls, and they sat at the couch.

Sofia:
Mucho gusto!

Brianna:
Aye que fabulosa

Arianna:
Arrrrrriba!!!!

Sofia:
?Quieres bailar?

Brianna:
Mirame

Arianna:
I believe in dreaming
And shooting for the stars

Sofia:
Baby to be number one
You got to raise the bar

Brianna:
Kicking and scratching
Grinding out my best

Arianna:
Anything it takes to climb
The ladder of success

The three girls take each other's hands and begin to dance together chorographically.

All three of them; (Sofia); Arianna and Brianna:
Work our tails off every day
Gotta bump the competition
Blow them all away
(Caliente)
Suave
Yeah we’re gonna

Bop bop bop, bop to the top
(Slip and slide and ride that rhythm)
Jump and hop
Hop unil we drop
And start again
Zip zap zop hop, flop like a mop
(Scoot around the corner)
Move it to the groove
Until the music stops
Do the bop bop bop
To the top
Don’t ever stop
Bop to the top
Gimme gimme
Shimmy shimmy
Shake some booty and turn around
Flash a smile in the direction
Show some muscle
(Do the hustle)
Yeah we’re gonna
Bop bop bop, bop to the hop
(Wipe away your inhibitions)
Stump, stump stump, do the rump
And strut your stuff
Bop bop bop, straight to the top
We’re going for the glory
We’ll keep stepping up and we just won’t stop
Till we reach the top
Bop to the top

The girls finished their song and they smiled at each other and the parents cheered for the girls.

“That was awesome, girls!” Ray says and the girls run to the respective parents even little Jade joins in on the hugs. Because she’s a hugger and whenever she sees anyone hugging she has to join in.

“It’s time for Ray and the girls to head home for the night.” Julio says and the girls pout at their parents not wanting to leave each other.

“But Papa!” Sofia says to her father and he picks her up, and starts tickling her and Sofia screeches a little, and the adults laugh a little.

“Say bye to Bria and Ri.” Gabriella says and Sofia waves to her friends, and they hug each other and the twins and Ray head out the door.

“See you guys soon.” Jade says and she runs up towards her room, and she almost trips over the stairs but she doesn't fall down.

End of flashback

“Will you help me organize these bamboo-” Before Charlotte could finish her sentence, Dad came marching in, and he had a look on his face, that made me gulp a little.

“Hey. Hey, Hey!” He snaps. “What’s all the racket up here?!”

“Oh it’s just a little girl checking out the piano.” Sofia informs Dad.

“Hey! Hey you!” Dad calls out and gets the girl's attention. “Haven’t you learned how to play that crummy song yet?!” The girl's face fell and she ran out of the store crying and we turned to Dad with disbelief all over our faces.

“Qué es eso?” Sofia says. (What was that for?)

“Dad!”

“Ray!”

“Must you tourture the children!” Charlotte and Ri betrates Dad.

“Ah, just forget everything!” Dad groans and he walks away. “Stupid super anniversary-” He stops when hee picks up the loose knob off the counter. “This knob is still loose! Oh!” He slams it back down and storms off, muttering to himself.

“Well, now I understand why Gooch and Schwoz got out of here when they did.” Sofia mentions and I nodded my head at her.

The door opened and an elderly man walked in. “Excuse me kids. I left eight thousand dollars in a rolled up newspaper. Have you seen it?!”

“No.”

“Sorry.”

“We haven’t.”

He groaned. “Ah!” He turns to leave and he bangs his head and cries in pain. “Ah! I’m alright!” He runs out and we look at one another.

“Can you believe that?” I asked them.

“No!” The three of them exclaim.

“Que todavía lee periódicos?” Sofia asked and we all chuckled at her, and we all grabbed another churro. (Who still reads newspapers?)

“These are sooo good!” Henry says and Sofia smiles at him.

“Gracias! Papa made them.” Sofia says sadly, to Henry. She’s still grieving about her father, which will take a little while. Which is still okay.

“I’m still so sorry about your father Sof.” Henry says trying to make Sofia a little better, but it kind of worked because she faked a smile.

--

Sofia’s POV

“Can I take this stinkin blindfold off now?” Ray asked as Henry, Charlotte, and Ri and Bria dragged him down to the Man Cave. We have a surprise for him.

“No.” Bria denies it to Ray.

“But I can’t see anything!” He protested and I just shook my head at him.

“Don’t worry we’re not gonna let you fall.” Henry says chuckling.

“Can’t I just-AH!” He says and he slipped on a skateboard and fell on his back.

Bria gasped when Ray slipped and we helped him up as Charlotte and Henry argued over who put the skateboard there in the first place.

“So this is the surprise?” Ray asked, cutting off Charlotte and Henry’s argument. “You guys blindfolded me and tried to kill me?”

“No.” Charlotte sighs at him.

“Sorry our bad.” Henry announces and we move away from Ray.

“Now whip off that blindfold!” I beamed and Bria and Ri jumped up and down like little girls on Christmas morning, and I couldn’t help but laugh at them.

“Happy Super Anniversary!” The five of us cheered but he was unamused. We gestured to the crazy set up again but we got nothing.

“I don’t get it.” All five of us lowered our arms and Charlotte Bria began.

“You are about to have the ultimate kid’s weekend of fun!” Bria begins and she grabs a churro and eats it and takes a bite out of it.

“What? What are you guys talking about?” He asked us.

“Since you missed out on being a real kid….” I started and I nodded at Bria, and Ri.

“This weekend we’re going to do all the fun kid stuff you missed out on.” Bria says smiling at her father, and he seemed surprised at all of this.

“What? Really?”

“Yeah.” Ri nodded and pointed to the camping equipment.

“Look, we got camping equipment.”

“Tickets to Six Poles Over Swellview.” Charlotte adds, pointing to the board advertising Six Poles.

“A Mexican Pinata.” I say pointing to the homemade Pinata, that has a bunch of mexican candy in it.

“A cool new bike.” Henry chimes in, pointing to the red bike.

“Whoa.” Ray says going over to the bike. “Hold up. I don’t know how to ride a bike.”

The five of us shared a look, and the socket opened and we jumped but then I saw a cat, and I was confused a little on why there was a cat in the Man Cave.

“Sof this is Stella, our cat. You remember Stella right?” Bria says grabbing Stella and I held my hands out and Stella reluctantly went to me and she purred a little, and I smiled.

“Bria told us.” Henry says, and Ray looks over at Bria.

“So, we’re going to teach you.” Charlotte offered.

“Honest!” Ray beamed at us and we nodded our head at the man in front of us.

“Of course!” I smile at him, and he looks at me.

“Totally!”

“Yeah!”

“Hey, you even got us matching t-shirts!” Ray points to the matching shirts.

“Yep.”

“Jade made them.” I say and Henry and Charlotte gave me a look.

“That’s her younger sister.” Ray says and I nod my head at him.

“For Ray’s weekend of fum.” Henry says, picking up a shirt.

“Fum?” Ray asks, confused at the shirt.

“The t-shirt messed it up.” I mentioned it to Ray and he nodded his head in agreement.

“Oh okay.” He nods his head. “But why are there eight t-shirts?”

“Uh...well for starters Sofi is joining us and also my little sister and my friend Jasper.” Henry says and Ray nods his head and he smiles a little at me.

“Aw, no. Why?! Except for Sof.”

“Well Piper sprained her ankle.” Henry began.

“So?”

“She’s on crutches. So, when we get to Six Poles, we get to go to the front of the line for all the rides.” Henry explained.

“Ah…” Ray says smirking before frowning. “And why are we bringing your bucket-loving friend with sweaty hands?”

“Because that’s Jasper’s camping stuff.” Bria reasoned with her father.

“And when you get to know him, he’s a lot of fum.” Henry added on to the conversation and I just continued petting Stella.

“Now put on your t-shirt and let the fum begin!” Charlotte tells Ray, and us girls cheer.

“You know, you guys are really sweet to do this for me.” Ray sincerely smiles at us and we smile back. “Is it really time to put on my special t-shirt?”

“Do it!” Bria and Ri say giggling at Ray.

“Sure.”

“Yeah, get in there!”

Ray grabs a shirt and moves away from us to get changed. A bell was ringing and I looked up.

“Someone’s ringing the bell.” I mentioned.

“I’ll check it.” Henry ran over to the monitor and checked who rang the bell. It was Jasper and Piper. “It’s Jasper and Piper. I’ll let them in.”

He unlocks the door and they walk in. We turn to walk away, but we stop when we see Ray pulling on a small t-shirt, that was a few sizes too small.

“I think that’s just a little too small Ray.” I said and he grunted and looked up at us. “This one might be Piper’s.”

--
Bri’s POV
Ray changed shirts and put on the right size this time. We were getting ready to leave, when a loud and annoying buzzing occurred and the room was flashing red. We all immediately covered our ears, dropping everything.

“?Que diablos era eso y de donde viene?” Sofia  says, covering her ears with her hands. (What the butt was that, and where is it coming from?)

“What’s going on?!” Henry yelled.

That alarm means one thing and I hope that it’s not what I think it is. Stella ran away from the noise and she couldn’t go too far, she went underneath the monitor.

“I don’t know, but I hope that it’s  not what I think it is.” Dad responded and went up to the monitor and he pressed a few buttons and the alarm stopped. “There.”

“Que paso?” Sofia says, and she puts her hands by her sides. (What happened?)

“Dad…” I said and he knew what I was talking about.

“Fifi go see if the elevator works.” Ray instructed me and I nodded my head and walked to the elevator and I pressed the button and it shocked me, and I flinched back.

“Ow!” She flinched. “The button shocked me.”

Henry chuckled, thinking that it was a joke or something and he walked towards the elevator too, and it shocked him also. “Ow! The button shocked me!”

“Henry, try the sprocket.” Dad ordered Henry and he walked towards the sprocket.

“Sofia, go see if the secret door opens. Banana and Ri try the elevators with me, and Charlotte just stands there.” Dad says and we all raced to our specific places but we ran into each other and Dad pushed Charlotte and Henry away.

“Crap it won’t open up!” Henry groaned when the sprocket didn’t open up.

“The door won’t open either.” Sofia says trying to open the door, but it’s not budging one bit and she’s growing frustrated.

Dad groaned when the door and the sprocket didn’t open.

“What? The tubes are not working either?” Henry asked and me and Ri shook our heads no at the blonde boy.

“Nope.” Ri denies and walks away from the tubes. “We’re on emergency lockdown.” Ri finishes and Charlotte gives us a look.

“What does that mean?” Charlotte and Sofia say in unison, and they look at each other and they smile a little.

“It’s part of our security system. If some criminal finds out that I work down here and he tries to force his way in. Or if a criminal  wants to kidnap Bri or Ri, Gooch can flip a switch upstairs in the counter and lock the whole place down.” Dad explained and Charlotte, Henry, and Sofia nodded their heads in understanding. “We designed this system when the Toddler found out about Bri.”
I groaned a little when Dad mentioned the Toddler, and crossed my arms.

“But the only people upstairs now are Piper and…” Charlotte trailed off and rolled her eyes.

“Jasper.” Charlotte, Henry, Ri and I sighed as Dad rubs his face, and Henry got out his phone.

“Who are you calling?” Sofia asked Henry as she handed Dad a churro and he bit into it, and he moaned because of how delicious it was and Sofia giggled a little.

“Jasper.” Henry tells Sofia. “To let him know to flip-”

“Nope!” I say cutting him off.

“What?”

“Emergency lock down mode blocks all transmitters and receivers, including cell phones.” Ri informed Henry, Charlotte, and Sofia. Because the rest of us know what it means, and the three of them don’t.

--

Ri’s POV

Dad was constantly trying to cancel the lock down, but nothing worked. This system is very strict and can not be broken, unless the power is cut or someone flips the switch upstairs. No one is going anywhere.

“Can’t you cancel the lockdown?” Henry asked Dad and Bri and they grunted, and Sofia is playing a game on her phone, to pass the time. At least she’s having fun, right now.

“Arg!” Dad says grunting because it isn’t working.

“Not for 48 hours.”

“That’s two days.” Charlotte pointed out.

“Yes. Your math is perfectly correct.” I sarcastically remarked, standing up.

“Well, I don't get why we can’t just-” Henry says but Dad interrupted him, and Henry looked at Dad.

“Listen, the lock down is on a timer!” Dad says to Henry. “Once you flip that switch, this whole place is like a bank vault. Sealed tight. Nobody gets in or out.” He says and he sits down, and he grabs Stella and starts petting her. “And there’s nothing on this earth that can change that.”
“Except for Schwoz, but he’s in Palm Springs with Gooch.” I added on and Bri nodded her head at me.

“So upstairs, is it locked down too?” Henry asked and I went to get another churro but there was no more left, and I sat back down huffing.

“Uh-huh.” Dad and I nod at Henry.

“Which means Jasper and Piper are trapped up there together.” Charlotte tells us and me and Bri’s eye’s grow.

“Oh my god!” Henry and Bri gasp.

Piper will murder Jasper for flipping the switch. That’s just if she hasn’t already.

Dad quickly races to the monitor and switches on the camera for the store. We see Piper chasing Jasper around the store with her crutches.

“This is your fault!”

“I didn’t know!”

“You ruined everything!”

“I didn’t know!”

“You tried to kill me with drums!”

“I didn’t know!”

Dad looks back at us with a glare and us girls sigh, shaking our heads.

“Estos seran dos dias largos.” Sofia says, shaking her head a little and Bri nods her head at her friend. (This is gonna be a long two days).

--
Bri’s POV
After a whie of just sitting there, Dad had an idea. Using a generator could generate enough power to make one of us shoot up the tube and hopefully escape this place to get help and call Schwoz.

“And just one more battery to connect.” Dad says as he connects a battery to a wire.

“Okay the panel’s all set.” Ri tells Dad.

“Good, now hopefully these batteries will produce enough power to get one tube working so we can get out of here.” Dad explained to us.

“Who’s going up the tube?” Sofia asks and Dad turns to her.

“Which one of you four are gonna go?” Dad says pointing to me, Ri, Charlotte, and Sofia. We all shrugged our shoulders.

“Why?” Henry asked.

“Because we don’t have much power here, and they’re the lightest.” Dad remarked to Henry, before turning back to us four. “So choose who’s going up.”

“R can go.” Charlotte says and Ari gives Charlotte a glare, and Charlotte smiles sheepishly at my sister.

“Whatever.” Ri grumbles as she walks towards the tubes.

“Okay Na Na. Get up there.” Dad says as Ri puts on her jacket.

“Yeah, can’t you see me working on that.” She snapped back at Dad and he gave her a look.

“You better coe back for us.” Henry says as he walks towards me and he kisses my cheek.

“And bring a pizza!” Dad added.

“A big pizza!” Charlotte chimes in.

“More churro’s!” Sofia says and everyone else nodded their head at her.

“Just get me out of here first.” I tell them.

“Stand by.” Dad says and he turns on the machine, causing the lights to flicker. The tube slowly encased Ri and I was nervous that this wasn’t gonna work, and my hair slowly got wet.

“Good.” Dad says. “Now go for it.”

“Up the tube!” Ri shouted and she was being slowly sucked up the tube. She was barely moving, but it was something. Her body was almost up the tube and I couldn’t see her feet anymore.

“Increase suckage!” Henry shouted.

“Increasing suckage!” Dad says and, Ri was completely sucked in the tube.

“You didn’t get the big pizza!’ Henry mentions, as he didn’t see the pizza, and I whacked his arm, and he flinched and gave me a look.

“No, I didn’t get the big pizza. But thank you for caring!” Ri snapped back at Henry and Sofia and I rushed over to RI and helped her to her feet.

--

Ri’s POV
It’s been officially eight hours since Jasper set off the emergency lock down mode and I’m starving. Henry, Charlotte, and I were watching Jasper and Piper on the monitor. I tuned out their conversation until they mentioned their food situation and I turned off the monitor.

“We all better get out of here before those two kill each other.” Sofia tells Henry and Charlotte agreed.

Stella went somewhere and I haven’t seen her in eight hours. She’s probably having more fun than we are now. Until I saw her coming towards a cabinet by the elevator.

“What do you see Stella?” I say as I put down my book that I found on the table by the monitor and I get up and walk towards the cabinet.

“What does she want?” Henry says as he follows me, and I open the cabinet and I scrunch my eyebrows at the sight of it. It was a clock? What was the clock doing in here? I pick up the clock and examine it, seeing what it is.

“It’s a clock?” Henry says as he sees me examining the clock in fascination.

“”What do you got there?” Dad asks as he walks towards us.

“A clock with wires coming out of it.” I answered and I gave Dad the clock.

“There’s something written on the back of it.” Sofia says pointing out the writing, and I look over Dad’s shoulder and it’s Schwoz’s handwriting.

“This is schwoz's handwriting.” I say.

“Lock down timer. Do not touch.” Sofia reads and we all have this confused look on our faces.

“Timer?” Henry and Dad ask.

“You said the lockdown was forty-eight hours.” Henry questions Dad.

“And that nothing could change that.” Charlotte added on.

“Yeah bit if this clock is the time for the lock down…” Dad began and we all realized what that meant.

We can change the time and this won’t happen again...at least I hope that it doesn't.

“Try moving the hands forward!” Sofia eagerly suggested and Dad moved the hands forward until the room buzzed and all the machines and devices switched back on.

We all cheered like little kids, in a playground when they heard the ice cream man coming. But obviously that doesn’t happen.

“The elevator works!” Sofia beams as the elevator doors open back up again, like they did before Jasper accidentally flipped the switch.

“So does the sprocket!” Dad says smiling as he opens the sprocket.

Sofia and Bria made the tubes encase their bodies.

“So the tubes!” Sofia says smiling as they turn to us. “Bye!”

“Bye!” Sofia says as she waves towards us and we wave back at her.

“Up the tube!” Sofia and Bri shouted and got shot up the tube.

Despite being trapped in the Man Cave for hours upon hours, it was fun. Dad did experience a couple things about being a normal kid that he never experienced.
