chapter thirty-seven.

Taking deep breaths, the raven haired woman plopped down on the couch, biting the tip of her nails of her left hand as her right trembles holding up her phone to her ear, eyes presenting an agonizing look.

"That's impossible! It can't be!" she cried. "She's dead! They both are! We all have witnessed it right in front of our eyes!" picking up the lamp from her bedside table, the woman harshly tossed the lamp right up to her door out of anger. She couldn't believe that this type of news suddenly appeared out of nowhere.

Slightly giving distance between his phone and ear, the man can hear and envision the havoc she was causing at the other line of the call just by hearing the female's cries as well as the falling and breaking of particular objects as she starts throwing a tantrum. Knowing each other for a couple of years, it surprised him that she is capable of showing such behavior when she's the least most harmful person he knows.

"Calm down. Throwing a tantrum won't do you any justice! Pull yourself together before I contact you're husband and send you an ambulance to come fetch you𑁋"

"Well fuck that!" she shot back. "Listen, tell them that we moved to Italy. Continue giving them false information and keep them far from Asia and all the countries that surrounds it's areas.  Make sure they won't be in contact with anyone of my relatives especially my children! Do you understand?"

The man cleared his throat. "Of course, leave everything to me."

"Good."

Ending the call, she stormed out of her room with a box in hand and made it out to the backyard. There, she built a small camp fire and started ripping the pictures apart, letting the torn out paper get burned and transform into ashes. She treasured those photographs so much, too bad they ended up to be blazed after all these years.

Carefully examining the last photo, the female recalled the great memories behind the picture. It was a picture of her and her bestfriend, they're arms linked with one another and her head on leaning on to the other's shoulder.  "I'm so sorry Mimi. I know that I'm being selfish but, I can't seem to let him go just yet. Not yet."

Barging through the doors of the practice room, everyone jumped by the sudden entrance of they're captain. Just fifteen minutes ago, he seemed so unbothered but now, it looked like he was ready to commit any type of crime they could think of.

"God damn it. Where the fuck is Haku Shota!?" his inflamed tone scared his teammates. Seeing Ni-ki angry, made them want to hide and shut they're own mouths for the time being. "Fuck it! Where is he!?"

"At the. . . h-h-hospital, S-Seoul National Hospital." answered Taki.

Turning around to leave, the japanese boy furiously slams the door shut.

"Geez, I get that he's mad and all but that doesn't mean he could just break the door all of a sudden."

Ignoring her teammate's comment, Lucy went to approach Takara who continued to stare right where Ni-ki exited. She felt frozen at her spot, Takara doesn't know if she should follow her boyfriend or if she should let him be and cool off for awhile. Seeing this side of Ni-ki frightened her.

"I think you should leave him be. I heard him talking to his sister earlier."

The japanese female faced her friend, lips pursed. "Do you think something happened?"

Lucy shrugged. "Probably a family matter. So I think it's best if we stay out of the way but as his girlfriend, you should go and comfort him once he gets back. Maybe he and Konon had a little argument. . ."

"Hopefully it is." unzipping her bag, Takara went to grab her phone and open her messages. Stopping by at Ni-ki, she was contemplating if she should go and check on him. She already met Konon and has seen her and Ni-ki's interactions, of course there were times that they would argue about the littlest things and start teasing each other from time to time but it never actually came to the point that it might cause the other to act in rage.

Digging deep into her thoughts, Takara was feeling doubtful, just by checking the possibilities of what actually happened before or maybe after the call, Takara was guessing that maybe he isn't mad at his older sister at all? Maybe it was Saeyoung?

It must have been, Saeyoung — yet she still feels unsure.

She knows she can't just jump into conclusions without finding proper evidence.

But if they'll look at the case, Saeyoung performing for Hyevin — who is known to be their school rivals, and with Ni-ki possibly having feelings for her, it might come to the point that maybe he might actually be furious at Saeyoung not Konon.

"He's jealous. . . " she murmured. Just by saying it gives her a headache, but what can she do? She can't go marching at him and tell him to stay away from Saeyoung, no. She's not a possessive girlfriend. But also, she can't just let Ni-ki jump into actions without at least reminding him that he's in a relationship.

Tying her hair up to a bun, Takara stared at her reflection. "Ni-ki, it's not only her. . . I'm hurting too. . ."

"W-Why me?" she questioned as she follows the boy outside Himiko's room, to go somewhere less crowded.

"Because you're the only person he'll listen to."

Saeyoung was taken aback at his answer. She wanted to believe what he said was true but all she can do is burst into laughter. He was bring serious and yeah, it's a bad time, yes. But, she just couldn't help herself, his reply was so inconceivable. . .?

"What are you talking about? There's no way he'd listen to me—"

Soul shot her a significant look. They were at a hospital talking about his personal life to some girl who barely even knows what's going on between him and his family background, there was no way this conversation would just be laughed at and be taken as some kind of joke especially when his little sister is surrounded by air tubes, lying on the hospital bed asleep with no signs of consciousness.

"If I knew he wouldn't listen to you, would I have told you this? Then why would I suddenly spill a family secret? Believe me, I tried to tell him about Himiko but all he does is shut me out and ignore me as much as he can. Because in his eyes, I don't exist." he explained further into the conversation. Saeyoung couldn't help but feel bad for what Soul has been through. He is such a nice guy who deserves so much, if only Ni-ki could see this side of him. "I'm telling you this because I trust you and you're the only key I have to create a proper conversation with Riki. If I can't tell him directly, might as well pass it through you."

Hearing Soul's words, Saeyoung is starting to think that maybe the reason why he befriended her is because he needed someone to play the role of messenger. If Zeus and Hades have Hermes, then Soul and Ni-ki has Saeyoung. Wow, even humans can be transformed to a messaging app.

"And how do you know that this messenger thing of yours will work? Do you know our situation —"

"Because he still loves you."

"That's bullshit." she said.

A small grin was plastered on Soul's face. He gave the girl small pats in the back and chuckled at her answer. As much as he doesn't want to believe it as well, he can't really just miss out the fact that Ni-ki still holds a special place for Saeyoung inside that heart of his.

"Believe what you want to believe but what I'm saying right now is true. Oh and I do have a question for you." Soul's hand slid inside his pocket and tossed two packs of gummies for her. He sat down on the hospital bench, patting the space next to him as a gesture for her to sit down. This question of his is starting to make Saeyoung nervous. "Do you still love Ni-ki? Do you still have feelings for him?"

"Fuck that. It's a no."

Soul chuckled at her honesty. "Well if that's the case then, I want to court you." he announced making Saeyoung feel off guard. It was so sudden and she didn't know how to react, Soul expected this kind of reaction. "I know that I'm asking this at a wrong time but I just wanted to let you know that I like you and I'm serious about it, about you."

"S-Soul I-I. . . isn't this —"

"I'm sorry if you think that I'm going too fast but I just really wanted to let this all out you know? Because I want to secure a spot in that heart of yours, before anything else happens. I mean it's okay, if you don't like the idea, you could just reject me right now because all I want to do now is to be honest with you. To express at least some secrets I have been trying to hide for awhile now and dang, it feels nice." Soul turned his head to Saeyoung, now they are staring at each other from eye to eye. "I don't know what's going to happen next after this but I want to tend to my sister first before I go out with another girl because believe me, I'm happy when I'm with you, Saeyoung but unless my sister is finally in a good condition, I won't be able to secure myself, full happiness." deeply staring at Saeyoung's eyes, Soul moved closer and tucked a few strands of hair behind her ear. "My family comes first."

That last sentence touched Saeyoung, she loved the way he puts up his family first than anything. His mother must be really proud of him. Maybe trying to date someone like Soul wouldn't be such a bad idea.

Saeyoung ruffled the boy's hair and with no warnings sent, she pulled him into a hug, which surprised him. "I believe Himiko's going to be just fine. She must be lucky to have you as her brother."

"T-Thank you—"

"Haku Shota!" hearing a loud voice coming they're way, Saeyoung was immediately pushed to the side while Soul was dragged up and is held by the collar.

"Ni-ki stop—"

"You're so selfish! After all these years? Really?" Ni-ki harshly pushed the boy away with everything he's got. Saeyoung stood in front of him trying to prevent him from charging at Soul. This scene was already enough to grab everyone's attention but thankfully there wasn't anyone around, it was just them three at a quiet hallway.

Holding him back with her strength, Saeyoung strived to properly handle Ni-ki before Soul gets hurt. "For fucks sake Ni-ki! What the hell is wrong with you—"

"Mom is fucking dead!? She's dead! And you didn't even bother telling me? I'm his son too!"
