chapter seven.
"You spilled coffee on Seolhee? The principal's daughter?"
"Yep. Pretty cool, huh?" proudly smiled Saeyoung who took a sip of her energy drink while walking side by side with Ni-ki. Classes we're over 40 minutes ago and because of Saeyoung getting into a fight, she had to face her dear ol' principal. The fact that she still pissed off Seolhee made her happy and satisfied.
No one messes with Roh Saeyoung.
Ni-ki eyed the girl from his peripheral view and smiled to himself. "You really are one of a kind, aren't ya?" he spoke. He couldn't believe that a girl like her would even dare try to pull a stunt on the principal's daughter.
Spending his childhood in japan, almost all the girls there are very feminine and well-mannered, he has never met anyone as daring and strong as Saeyoung which only made him more interested in her and want to be a lot more closer.
Saeyoung winked at the boy and pulled a smile. "Ever since I was born. But that's only the first! You don't know me, Mr. Nishimura."
"Yet." he added. "I don't know you, yet."
Saeyoung jokingly rolled her eyes and quickly went in front of him, making her walk backwards. "Yeah sure. Anyways, thanks for the drink! I'll see you around." she did a small wave before turning her back about to jog off to another path.
"Hold on! You're not going anywhere." with his quick reflexes, Ni-ki immediately and effortlessly stopped Saeyoung by holding her arm. Saeyoung quietly groaned and lazily faced Ni-ki, in which he found it a bit cute.
"What do you want? I already sang for you? Please give my beautiful voice a rest!" Saeyoung complained in a kid-like tone. Ni-ki himself doesn't know why he stopped her from going when he would just let other girls he know do what they want, but why not Saeyoung?
"Do you have plans?"
"No. Not all." answered Saeyoung.
"Come with me to dance practice." his request made Saeyoung raise her left eyebrow. She has no clue on what he's up to but then again, it's not like she has better things to do anyways. Study? She could do that later.
"W-Why me? I'm not part of the dance team! Do you even think I'm allowed to go in there?"
"Yep. Because that's what the captain of the dance team wants. Ni-ki pulled up a cocky smile before dragging her on their way to the practice room. Ni-ki has to admit that it was a bit difficult since Saeyoung tried pulling herself out of his grip at the same time asking questions, making him annoyed.
"Come on Saeyoung, it's gonna be fun. You can be our audience and maybe even evaluate our performance? We really need people's opinions here." he said trying to persuade her and calm her down a bit. From a brave and fearless girl she can be, Ni-ki somehow notices that the girl can turn shy to.
"But isn't singing for you already enough?"
Ni-ki shooked his head. "No." he simply replied, followed by a small chuckle.
Approaching the door to the room, Ni-ki went ahead and opened the door for Saeyoung, letting her enter the room first. What a gentleman now is he? Saeyoung forgot, japanese people are very disciplined and good mannered. Saeyoung thought that Ni-ki was that typical dance hearthrob who would care less on what girls feel, but she's wrong. He seems nice and caring? to be with.
"Aye yo! It's chow time, get yourselves prepared. And this is Roh Saeyoung, our friend and audience for today's practice." announced Ni-ki, making all his fellow team mates warmingly greeting her.
"What's up? The name's Xin Long, all the way from China, nice to meet you m'lady." Xin Long winked making Saeyoung smile and lightly giggle at his attempt.
Ni-ki couldn't believe that his friend flirting again. He couldn't help but find the scene funny but at the same time disgusting-not in a bad way. Probably because he was never used to nor liked seeing Xin Long flirt. "Alright, drop the flirting Xin Long. You might scare away our audience." joked Ni-ki, who pulled him away.
Before the actual practice would start, Ni-ki gave a little heads up and some time for them to stretch. He did made some orders that they all followed. Saeyoung was at the side, sitting down on the floor and watching the dance team do their thing. But what Saeyoung couldn't help to notice is that she found Ni-ki attractive whenever he turned serious. This was a different Ni-ki from the one she met back in the music room.
"Hey Ni-ki." called a feminine voice. Takara slowly approached the boy and lightly held his arm. "I have the speakers and the music with me. It took really long to download the remix in that flash drive."
"Really? I'm sorry Takara but thank you too. Sorry if it became a hindrance to you." apologised Ni-ki, who also gave a bow.
Takara smiled. "It's okay, you don't have to say sorry! By the way, I already sent to your dorm the snacks you wanted to deliver to your father and sister back in Japan. It actually arrived over an hour ago, and for sure your sister will definitely love the korean snacks I sent. "
Takara was aware of Ni-ki's sister and father. She hasn't met them yet but Takara has always admired Ni-ki's burning love for them, especially when he sends them the local souvenirs or food from Seoul. She has visited Ni-ki's dormitory once and noticed boxes sent to him straight from Okiyama.
"I really can't thank you enough now can't I, Takara?"
Judging from their conversation, Saeyoung could tell that Ni-ki and Takara seemed very close. From her view, she never thought Ni-ki would be close to a girl since he would always tend to hang around boys and would be seen rarely spending time with the opposing gender.
Saeyoung couldn't deny that if there would be a couple in the dance team, it would be obvious from first glance that it would be Takara and Ni-ki. Saeyoung grabbed her phone and pulled her attention to it, not really interested in the small conversation of the two.
Two hours has gone by and Saeyoung did nothing but watch and evaluate the team's teamwork and choreography from her perspective. Saeyoung could see the eagerness and passion each member has during practice, she has to admit that all of them are insanely talented that would immediately make the other's jaw drop.
How could people as young as them be that talented?
Is dancing part of their genes or something? If it is, it's scary.
From those two hours, Saeyoung's attention is mostly drawn to Ni-ki. She couldn't help it but find Ni-ki very attractive whenever he turns serious, sometimes staring at the boy for a short while but tried to not be that obvious at all. And unbeknownst to Saeyoung, Takara would always catch Ni-ki stealing glances to the girl watching them. Whenever he is dancing, giving instructions or teaching a step, glancing over to Saeyoung became a habit to Ni-ki.
Takara felt a bit irritated.
Time Check; 5:20 pm
"Hey Ni-ki, do you mind if I go now? My head started to feel a bit dizzy." said Takara who started to massage her head. To tell you the truth it was just a small act she tried to pull just so she could go home and rest.
"Sure. Do you think you can go alone?"
"Yep. No need to worry Ni-ki, I got this." Takara gathered her things, grabbed her slippers from her bag and slipped them on her feet. "Anyways, I'll see you guys tomorrow! Bye!"
As time passed by, the members of the dance team started leaving one by one wanting to go home and do they're homework. As for Ni-ki, he stayed and continued to practice some more with Saeyoung still there watching him, yet she still haven't notice the glances he gave her.
It was getting a bit late and Saeyoung was surprised that Ni-ki still stayed and continued to dance. She now wondered that from all of the students and teachers in school, Ni-ki must be the last person to leave every single day. He looked so determined, focused and driven.
"Aren't you going home yet? It's already 6:15. You're parents must be starting to worry." asked Ni-ki who did some small stretching.
"You want me to leave? Well, okay them." Saeyoung stood up and dusted her skirt, grabbing her backpack and fixing her hair a bit.
"Hold on, I didn't say anything like that."
"If so, then I'm not leaving until you are. I don't really feel like going since I have nothing much to do anyways."
Ni-ki chuckled. "Whatever. Um, hey! Do you mind helping me out for a bit?"
"Help you in what? Math? Sorry I suck in that area." said Saeyoung trying to crack a small joke. They were left alone in the practice room and it might be awkward between them.
"Same but no. I just needed in help recording my practice for me. Will ya'?" Saeyoung nodded. Ni-ki gave her the iPad, when he did, he felt his hand touched hers. It felt cold, probably because of the room being air conditioned.
"Are you freezing?" he questioned.
Saeyoung immediately shooked her head. "No. Why would you say that?"
Ni-ki lightly held her hand. "You're hand is freezing cold."
Saeyoung suddenly felt butterflies flying around her stomach. She didn't know why but, she somehow felt ecstatic just by holding his hand. "U-Uh no, that's normal. I just really like the cold."
Ni-ki hummed in response, let's go of her hand and went to his position, same goes to Saeyoung who went a few steps backwards. She opened the tablet and started recording Ni-ki.
She knows it's weird but Saeyoung could feel Ni-ki's eyes piercing through her as she continues to record him. She can't deny that he looks so attractive and scary that she could feel her hands trembling because of him.
Through recording the video, Ni-ki's eyes rarely left the camera, or Saeyoung herself. Not wanting to show any reaction, Saeyoung bit her inner lip and avoided staring at his eyes.
No matter how cold the room felt, Saeyoung could feel the uprising warmth that Ni-ki is giving her through his fiery stares.
