8: Eight times

Eighth Prompt: Fear

||∞'°••~•^°^••~Ω~••^°^•~••°’∞||

Peter Pevensie was truly afraid only eight times in his life.

He was never one to fear many things. In fact, he didn't really fear anything. Except for spiders. But that didn't matter because he had Susan, who would always help her older brother out.

Then the war started and Peter was afraid for the first time in his life. He was afraid of the bombs and afraid of death.
He was afraid of his dad dying.

He came to Narnia with his siblings and once again he was afraid of war and death and the big duty he had to fulfill.

He came back to this world and he was afraid of the bombs and the war again.

He came back to Narnia and was afraid of the savage land his home had become.

Then he had to leave forever.
And he was afraid of that too.

His siblings and his cousin came back to Narnia and he was afraid that he couldn't protect them and that something would happen to them.

When he and Edmund broke into the old house of the Professors uncle he wasn't afraid.

When the train came in too fast, he wasn't afraid.

He wasn't afraid when he was falling down in the dark.

He wasn't afraid when he landed on the lawn.

He wasn't afraid when Tash appeared.

He wasn't afraid when Tirian told his story.

He wasn't afraid at all.

Peter Pevensie was afraid eight times in his life and most afraid he was always when he saw Aslan.

The first time he saw Him in the pavilion behind the stone table.
Two leopards held His crown.

He sat there and watched him and Peter wanted to run away. He wanted to never see this terrifying, brutal creature again.

But he knew that he couldn't do that when he wanted Edmund to be safe.
So he was the first one to step in front of the lion.

And no one would believe him if he said that he almost fell to the ground because he was so shaky on his legs.

When he saw Aslan again, he knew that he had done something terribly wrong.

He knew that he had done it so wrong that a human from this world, who hadn't experienced Aslan's beautiful grace, would never forgive him.

And that was why he was afraid that time.

But Aslan forgave him.

He always did.

And when Peter saw Aslan the next time, when he was dead, he knew that Aslan wasn't just a lion in a magic world.
Because he knew the name he had in this world.

And that was why he was not afraid this time.

Peter Pevensie was afraid eight times in his life. But the fear of Aslan was the best fear he could ever have feared.
