Edmund gasped as he walked over to the window. His hand wandered to his stomach, to the place where the witch's staff had stabbed him.
His gaze fell on the snow and his skin started to hurt again. Edmund turned away and started to pace back and forth in his and Peter's room.
It was winter and since it was snowing, his scar hurt. Tears welled up in his eyes, it hurt so much.
From outside of the room he heard steps and quickly he sat down on his bed, grabbed his book, and acted as if he would read.
The door opened and Peter came in.
„Hey Ed“, he said, before walking over to his bed.
“Hey Pete“, Edmund said, trying to make his voice sound less forced.
But Peter, his stupid, overprotective, idiotic big brother had to notice.
He turned around and looked at Edmund, with worry in his eyes.
„What was that?“
„Hey Pete“, Edmund repeated, not looking up from the book. His eyes were watery and Peter would notice if he lifted his head.
„Look at me“, Peter suddenly said firmly.
„What?“, Edmund said, almost lifting his head.
„I said look at me!“, Peter said.
„Why?“, Edmund asked, his heart starting to beat faster.
„Look at me. Ed!“
Peter walked over to his younger brother and bend down on one knee.
„Ed“, he said softly, before taking the book out of his hands and laying it on the nightstand.
„I know it hurts.“
„What?“, Edmund choked. He knew it?
He looked up into the face of his older brother.
In Peters's eyes, he found the thing, he'd been searching for.
„How?“, he asked quietly.
„It hurt last winter and the winter before that. Why should it be different this time?“, Peter sighed?
„I don't know“, Edmund said, trying to fight back his tears.
„You see. I should have remembered. But no, stupid me had to forget that you are in freaking pain“, Peter said quietly.
„This is not your fault“, Edmund answered. „You always look out for me. It's logical that you forget things when you try to remember everything.“
Peter smiled a little.
„You could've said something“, he said.
Edmund rolled his eyes.
„Me? Saying something about the pain I'm in? You've got to be joking!“
Both started to laugh, but Edmund stopped quickly when his stomach started to hurt again.
His whimpers caused Peter to stop laughing.
„You want me to get a healer?“, he asked.
Edmund shook his head.
„That won't do anything“, he said.
„Just...shut that curtain.“
Peter chuckled and got up to shut the curtain.
„You good now?“
„Maybe.“
„Try to sleep, yeah?“, Peter said quietly.
Edmund nodded and sighed.
„I'll try.“
