Lucy lied in her bed and looked up at the ceiling.
Susan walked in and after a time of silence she asked:"And, are you already excited for tomorrow?"
Lucy shrugged. "I'm not sure", she said quietly.
Susan looked down at the ground. It had been just like this for the past seven years too and she didn't see any way it could get better.
"Listen, Lu", she said. "I know, mum and dad aren't here. And I know that it's sad. And hard. But it has been seven years. Don't you think you could be happy this time?"
Lucy sat up and stared at her sister, almost angrily. "It's my fifteenth birthday, Susan!", she said with a loud voice.
Susan was rather shocked, but also confused. Why was it so special that it was Lucy's fifteenth birthday?
Lucy noticed that her sister didn't know what she was talking about.
"Dad always said that he would take me to Ireland when I became fifteen", she said quietly, but still angry.
Susan swallowed. Of course. How could she have forgotten?
Lucy had always wanted to go to Ireland and their Dad had promised her to go there with her when she turned fifteen.
"And now I will never go to Ireland", Lucy said.
"And I will never see dad again."
Tears filled Susan's eyes.
"I'm sorry", she whispered.
Lucy's teary eyes met Susan's and suddenly both of them ran towards the other one and embraced each other. And crying the sisters stood there in the middle of the room.
