"Peter," Lucy said from behind him.

The older boy turned around and tried to smile.

"What is it, Lucy?", he asked while he tried to ignore the pain in his legs.

"It's getting dark," Lucy said and pulled her cloak tighter.

Peter looked up to the sky and sighed. "I know," he said, "but we're still in the middle of nowhere."

Lucy sighed. "How far do you think it is to Cair?"

"I don't know," Peter said. "Maybe one or two hours?"

Lucy sighed again.

Peter waited until she had catched up and the two of them continued to walk on in silence.

"Look," Lucy suddenly whispered.
Peter looked up.

"There's a fawn!"

And there was a fawn, a young one, standing next to the surface of a lake.

Peter smiled after he saw Lucy looking at the fawn with sparkling eyes.

But then he looked up and saw the dark sky.

"Lucy," he said quietly. "We should hurry."

Lucy also looked up and nodded.
"Do you have any idea where we are?", she asked.

"Well, in the middle of nowhere," Peter said jokingly. "But we need to go in that direction."

Lucy giggled.

After another long time of walking Peter suddenly said:"There's Cair!"

Lucy looked up and a smile lit up her face.

"Finally!", she exclaimed.

Peter laughed and together they ran up to the gates of Cair Paravel.

Susan waited for them in the court yard, looking rather angry.

"Where. Were. You?", she hissed.

"In the middle of nowhere," Lucy and Peter said at the same time and scurried past her while they tried to not giggle.
