I stumble over the fabrics that's been thrown across my desk when I heard a knock on my door.
"Come in"
The door opened and my secretary, Felicity rushed with her familiar big diary in her hands.
"Ms. Devin I came-"
"Felicity" I sigh and cut her short. "I told you not to call me Ms. Devin! Just call me by my name"
She looked at me from under her big round glasses with concern in her big blue eyes. She reminds me of Harry Potter. No, more like Moaning Mytrel. And those big puppy blue eyes. My brown eyes were nowhere near them.
"Okay, Cherry?" It came out more like a question. "I came here to remind you that your client is waiting for you downstairs.
"Ah yes" I throw my hands in the air. "I forgot"
"Sure you did" Felicity chuckled.
"Tell them to wait a minute. I'll be down in a bit" I said and start to dig to find all the things I need.
"Color palate. Got it.
Fabric samples. Got it.
Wall paper scraps. Got it.Β
And...."
I looked around to see what's missing.
"The rug samples, It's over here" Felicity reached and took the big sample book from the floor.
"Okay then. Let's go" We both stumbled out of my room and into the elevator. Felicity pushed the button to the floor where we had the clients meeting room. I still can't remember which floor had which rooms in my own company. Damn it.
Once the elevator door open up, we got out and hurried to the room where these people were waiting. On the I greeted my beautiful workers with a shining smile.
"Good morning Dylan"
"Happy Monday Sally!"
"Have a nice day Mary!"
"Hope you're feeling better today Max"Β Β
See, how nice of CEO I am? Then I turn to Felicity who had her nose stuck in the diary.
"Who am I going to meet again Felicity?"
She look up at me with a blank face before shaking her head in disappointment. I just shrugged giving her the 'I'm the CEO of the company and I'm bust so I don't keep track on my clients' look
"The Styles' " She replied.
"Styles" I thought for a moment. "Quiet familiar" Well, "It is the name of our company but-"
"Harry Styles? Ring any bells?" Felicity shrugged.
Yeah, One of the members of that boyband and- Wait, hold up!
"Like the Harry Styles?" The green eyes, Messy hair, Dimples smile?" I quickly asked only earning a weird look from Felicity.
"Yes" She said. "Something wrong?"
I just stood there, dumbfounded.
"What?" Felicity chuckled. "Is he your celebrity crush or something" Oh, please.
I stopped in my tracks to ask the final question. But before I could do anything, Felicity opened the door to the meeting room to reveal the familiar three figures.
"Hello Welcome to STYLES" Felicity said with a proud smile. "This is Cherry Devin. The CEO of the company"
STYLES, more like STYLES designing is my interior designing company. As I've wanted when I was young, I became an interior designer and got a degree and shit and here I, having my own business. My own company.
"Hello Cherry" Anne smiled at me. "It had been so long dear. You've grown up so much" He walked over to me with open arms, I immediately fell into her embrace.
Felicity looked at me with a weird look on her face.
"I know Anne" I replied with a smile. "It so nice to see you all again" I gestured towards Robin and Gemma who looked happy to be there just like Anne did.
"How have you been lately Devin?" Robin shook my hand.
"Pretty good actually" I said and turned to face Gemma.
"Hello sissy!" She chuckled and wrapped me in a hug. I looked at them and sat on the head chair.
"So I guess you guys needed my help?"
"Yes" Anne said, excitedly. "Gemma is going to move in to her own house" She explained. "She wanted her house to be perfect. We heard that your designs are the best"
"Oh thank you" I smiled.
"So we'll just leave you girls to decide" Robin said and stood up. Anne following after. They waved at us before getting out from the room. Felicity leading them out.
"So Gem, what kind of theme would you like to apply to your house?" I said sitting down at the head of the long glass table, gesturing Gemma to sit down as well. And yes, Getting straight into the business.Β
"So it had been years huh?" She ignored my question. Typical Gemma. I looked up from my sample books to meet her eyes.
"Yeah" I simply shrugged. Once again, it was quiet. It was like we both didn't knew what to talk about. It had been three years I last saw her, after all. My mind once again wandered into the question that I really needed an answer.
"Where's Harry?"
Gemma smiled at me with a knowing smile. Almost smirking on the process. Almost.
"His tour is ending tonight. He's coming home with the boys for Christmas"
My heart started to race at 100 kmph.
"What do you mean by home?" I whispered to her. "Holmes Chapel? London? Los Angeles?"
"I never knew he had that many home's" Gemma giggled before looking at me with a serious look on her face. "Home can only be one place Cherry"Β
"He's coming to Holmes Chapel for Christmas. Along with the other four" Gemma explained. Getting back to her usual cheeky self. "They had planned to spend the holiday there"
Then she stopped and looked at me.
"What about you? What are you going to do in Christmas?"
I thought for a moment. I was going to do the same. Closing the company for holidays, going to Holmes Chapel to see my friends and family, Celebrating and spending time with them. But since Harry was going to be there as well...
"Your mom already told us about your plans honey" Gemma chuckled. "She said you are planning to come to Holmes Chapel as well"
I sigh. I like the Styles family. Really. Anne is a very kind and nice woman. She is basically a second mother to me. It was Anne who looked after me whenever Mom and Dad was out of the town. Robin is the same. He had always looked after me and my brother. Gemma is one of the most beautiful and friendliest person I've met. She was like a blood sister to me. When I was young, Gemma was basically my role model. Everyone was just great. Well. The only problem was the youngest Styles.
Harry Styles.
The famous singer. Known as a member of the famous boyband 'One Direction'
Yes, he was once my neighbor. My friend. My - he and I used to be inseparable. And now,Β
I knew he was going to audition for the X-factor when we were sixteen. But what I didn't knew was that he would just leave me and become a world famous popstar. Forgetting all about his little friend back home. He left me when we were sixteen.
And that was the last time I saw him. Harry.
"Earth to Cherry" Gemma snapped her fingers in front my face. "Too busy daydreaming about my little brother huh?"
I chuckled and shoved her hand away from my face.
"You know what Gem?" I speak. "Let's just go to the designing"
. . .
I opened my door to face two angry but excited looking girls.
"What are you doing here?" I asked slightly annoyed. "You made me pause the movie"
"You and your lazy bum" Nicole brushed past me and straight into the kitchen while Lillian stepped inside like a polite lady.
"Why are you guys here actually?" I walked back to the couch and plumped down again ignoring the sound of the saucepan's meeting the floor which came from the kitchen.Β
"Nicole!" I yelled. "I afford too much to make my kitchen look beautiful! Don't ruin it" I heard Nicole muttered some beautiful words in response.
"Where did she get to know all the swearing words?" I questioned Lillian. But before she could answer me Nicole dashed back to the living room with a large box of brownies and three plates and set it down on the coffee table.
"Guys just tell me what are you doing?" I asked again.
"Do we need a reason to come to your apartment 'Bestie'?" Nicole air quoted. Damn she and her sarcasm. I shook my head. "Good"
"Okay here's the thing" Lillian started but Nicole interrupted her.
"Chesteraskedmetobehisgirlfriendtoday" He quickly recited.
"What?"
"Chesteraskedmetobehisgirlfriendtoday" She repeated which I clearly got annoyed with. I turned to Lillian with raised eyebrows.
"What is she saying?" I asked. Lillian exhaled loudly.
"Chester. Asked. Nicole. To. Be. His. Girlfriend. Today." Lillian said and my eyes widen. I looked at the now-turned-crimson Nicole.
Without missing a beat I tackled her in a group hug along with Lillian.
"You are so lucky Nicole" I said once we pull apart.
"Don't worry darling!" Nicole mocked. "Your prince will be coming soon"
Oh, right no. That's the one thing that won't happen for what? another eternity.
. . .
It's me again, your headache. So if you want to know why I wanted you guys to read this...read this. XD
This is the first chapter of my third published book 'We've got unfinished business' and I hope you enjoyed it.Β
This chapter is dedicated toΒ Β
This chapter is dedicated to them because they seemed to be very impatient for this. Thank you my 'new found internet friend' ;) I had so much fun with you on that comment section. I'm so glad I met you. Luv ya mate.
First I would start off by saying that no matter who you are, I love you. I don't care if you're homosexual or bi or trans or white or black or anything. I love you. Please don't ever think that no one loves you and please, never ever self hate. You don't deserve to starve yourself just because some random chick called you anything. It's just that random bish is too thin and don't have a brain. Please don't start off by saying "I'm on a diet"Β because those diets can get to be a big thing in the future.
Secondly, It doesn't matter what race you are. Or what color your skin is. Or what your sexuality is. Your race, color or your sexuality means nothing. Let alone to others. It doesn't change who you are or your personality. And it don't give a chance for others to label you. Either you're black or white, I love you. I myself are a brown girl because I come from a southern eastern island. Sri Lanka to be exact. I know how it feels like to be called 'dark' or 'black' or simply just to get labeled. But fuck whoever, live like who you are.
And thirdly. Sexuality. It doesn't let other people decide who you are. It doesn't give them a chance to judge you of whom you love. I think I might know how it feels like to be judged because the place I live, it's just a hell hole of a homophobic people. Well, not everyone but mostly the elder people. But please don't ever think that no one loves you, because they do. There's somebody out there, who loves you to the moon and back.Β
And lastly, remember that I am always available to talk with you at anytime, just slip into my pm's and I'll be there. All of you are (if anyone's reading this) my friends. I might have not seen you in person but I can be your best friend. Your best friend you found on internet (and they say, don't talk to strangers on internet)Β Β
p.s - I don't have a best firend in real life.
Remember, Love Yourself.
And you matters.
Hope you enjoyed.
