After a few weeks of turmoil, Davina had finally returned to her usual bubbly self, spreading smiles wherever she went.

She even apologized to Nightshade for her behavior, and to her surprise, the usually mean boy accepted the apology without hesitation.

But still, her father's words echoed in the back of her mind. It was something she'd tried to push away, but she couldn't shake the thought of her falling for her bestfriend.

Things between her and Newt hadn't really changedโ€”he was still spending a lot of time with Leta, and that still bothered her.

But now, it didn't hurt as much as it used to. She wanted to spend more time with him, to be around him and his magical creatures again. They brought her so much joy.

This morning, however, something was different. She woke up with a sense of purpose, determined to address the growing tension between her and Newt.

She had feelings, and she was ready to talk about them. She needed to understand what was going onโ€”what she might have done wrong, or if it was just the way things were.

Davina spent what felt like hours searching for him, walking through the endless hallways of the school. She checked all his usual spotsโ€”the library, the Great Hall, even his favorite bench in the hallway. But Newt was nowhere to be found.

Her last stop was his dorm room. Standing in front of the door, her nerves flared. What if this conversation didn't go as planned? What if he didn't want to talk to her?

Taking a deep breath, she knocked softly. The silence inside unnerved her. No sound. No movement.

"Newt?" she called out, stepping closer to the door.

Suddenly, a loud crash echoed from within. Her heart raced as more noises followedโ€”loud crashes and frantic shouting.

Davina's eyes widened in shock. Without thinking, she threw open the door.

What she saw inside made her stop dead in her tracks.

Leta Lestrange stood in the center of the room, her wand raised, her eyes frantic as something zipped wildly around the room.

The room itself was an absolute disasterโ€”torn curtains, shattered furniture, feathers from pillows scattered everywhere. In the middle of the chaos, Newt's magical case stood wide open.

"Davina, watch out!" Leta shouted, barely dodging as something flew dangerously close to her.

The creature screeched, its wings a blur of motion. Davina recognized it immediatelyโ€”a Doxy. She had read about them in one of Newt's many books on magical creatures. Small, fairy-like, but not nearly as friendly as fairies. And when frightened, they could be deadly.

Its dark purple skin shimmered in the dim light, its beetle-like wings beating rapidly as it darted around the room.

"What the hell happened?" Davina asked, her voice tense, her wand raised instinctively. She glanced at Leta, who was still trying to keep the creature at bay.

Leta was visibly shaken, her hand gripping her wand tightly. "I was down in Newt's case, just looking at the creatures he always talks about... but this thing attacked me out of nowhere."

Davina narrowed her eyes. "You shouldn't have gone in there. You need to stay calm, Letaโ€”frightening it will only make it worse."

Leta scowled, her voice shaking with frustration. "What do you mean, 'stay calm'? That thing is trying to bite me!"

The Doxy zoomed around the room, and Davina carefully kept her distance, focusing on the creature. She noticed it seemed to be trying to find an exit. She quickly glanced at the open door behind her and muttered a spell under her breath.

"Colloportus."

The door slammed shut with a sharp click. Leta's eyes widened in disbelief.

"Are you out of your mind?" she snapped. "We're trapped in here with that thing!"

Davina shot her a pointed look, her face stern. "I don't think you want anyone else to know about this, do you?"

Leta clenched her jaw, clearly seething. The Doxy's screeches filled the air, but Davina remained calm. She knew she had to handle this carefully.

After all, a Doxy's bite was venomous, and if she made the wrong move, it could make things worse for both of them.

"Try not to get bitten," Davina warned as the creature darted past her.

Leta, however, was too focused on the creature to listen. Her eyes locked onto the Doxy, her wand raised as she whispered a spell under her breath.

"Expecto Patronum!"

The room filled with dark mist, swirling in a chaotic cloud. It was clear the Patronus spell had failed. The Doxy screeched in fury, feeling threatened by the dark mist.

"Stop!" Davina screamed, but it was too late.

The creature, now angrier than ever, zoomed straight toward her. Time seemed to slow as Davina spun around just in time to see the Doxy coming at her, its sharp teeth bared.

The being shrieked while it sank its talons deep into Davina's abdomen. The girl cried out in agony as she bent over.

Leta observed the young girl clutching her stomach with her hands while her white blouse became stained with blood. The Doxy emitted a final scream before it grasped the window, shattered glass scattering throughout the room.

The brown-haired woman's eyes overflowed with tears as she collapsed to the ground with a loud thump. Leta rushed to the girl, kneeling next to her as she noticed someone attempting to twist the doorknob.

Then she listened to Newt's voice as he desperately attempted to open the door using his magic. As the brunette boy burst through the door, his heart sank at the scene before him.

His room was utterly wrecked; everything was torn to shreds. The window was shattered, allowing the frigid air to enter. Newt looked down, his eyes growing wide at the scene in front of him.

A particular brunette girl was sprawled on the floor, her arms firmly clutching her abdomen, and suddenly it occurred to him. She was losing blood. She was bleeding heavily, with blood already creating a pool around her.

Newt sprang into action, moving toward his best friend as he dropped to his knees beside Leta in front of Davina.

The youthful Dumbledore's eyes blinked gently as she fought hard to remain awake, struggling against fainting due to the blood loss.

"What happened?" Newt softly held the suffering girl in his embrace.

Leta returned his look, shame visible on her face.

"I-I simply wished to look at your creatures, and when I unlatched the case... this creature darted out," she remembered, awkwardly moving her hands.

Newt gazed at her in disbelief, noticing that his case was slightly ajar.

A sudden cough grabbed his focus as he glanced down at the girl seated in his lap.

"Get help!" Newt shouted as Leta hurried away to locate someone who could aid them.

Newt listened to Davina's anguished cries, as more blood poured from the injury.

The young wizard urgently attempted to apply pressure to the deep gashes on her abdomen, striving to keep her conscious.

โ€žI am here, Davina. Y-you're listening to me? I'm not going anywhere," he stated, tears streaming down his face as the girl's green eyes shut.

โ€žDavina, please open your eyes for me! Stay awake!" he shouted as he observed her breaths becoming shallower.

โ€žWhat happened?" a booming voice inquired. Newt locked eyes with Albus Dumbledore, whose expression showed shock at the view of his severely hurt daughter.

An increasing number of teachers entered the room, attempting to calm the girl using healing spells. Miss Ravenshade guided Newt several steps away from the unconscious girl, gripping his arm firmly.

โ€žWhat occurred?" Dumbledore inquired once more as he approached the young wizard, now gazing directly at Newt.

โ€žA Doxy attacked her. I-I..." he observed Leta next to the door, her face filled with anxiety, his heart pained at the idea of deceiving the elder Dumbledore.

"It was my fault," Newt exhaled softly, a tear falling from his eye.

โ€žWhat happened?" Newt quietly cradling the pained girl in his lap.
Leta met his gaze guilt spreading across her features.

โ€žI-I just wanted to see your creatures and when I opened the case...this creature flew out" she recalled fumbling with her hands.

Newt looked at her in shock seeing his case was opened just a smidge.
A loud cough could his attention as he looked down to the girl in his lap.

โ€žGet help!" Newt said loudly as Leta ran of to find somebody that could help them.
Newt heart Davina's pained yells more and more blood coming from the wound.

The young wizard desperately tried to put pressure on the big scratches across her stomach trying to hold her awake.

โ€žI'm here, Davina. Y-you hear me I'm not leaving you" he said tears running down his cheeks as the girls green eyes turned shut.

โ€žDavina open your eyes for me! Stay awake!" he cried out as he watched her breaths getting more slowly.

โ€žWhat happened?" a loud voice asked. Newt met the gaze of Albus Dumbledore who's eyes widened at the sight of his dangerously injured daughter.

More an more teachers entered the room trying to steady the girl with healing spells. Miss Ravenshade walked Newt a few feet away from the now unconscious girl holding his arm tightly.

โ€žWhat happened ?" Dumbledore asked again while walking Torwarts the young wizard now looking directly at Newt.

โ€žA Doxy attacked her. I-I..." he watched Leta standing beside the door with an anxious expression his heart aching at the thought of lying to the older Dumbledore.

โ€žIt was my fault" Newt breathed out quietly a tear slipping from his eye.
