Newt's nerves were already frayed. His Niffler was on the loose, the silvery egg in Kowalski's hand was cracking, and chaos was creeping in at every turn.
With a flick of his wand, Newt pulled Kowalski toward him, and in an instant, they apparated to a quiet staircase. Kowalski's eyes were wide with shock as the magical world he barely understood swirled around him.
He glanced nervously down at the egg in his hands, which had begun to crack.
"What just happened?" Kowalski asked, his voice shaky, his breath still uneven. A tiny beak was now visible at the top of the egg.
Newt, focusing entirely on the egg, slipped his wand between his teeth before gently taking the egg from Kowalski's trembling hands.
He stepped further down the staircase, his eyes fixed on the creature as it began to hatch. The tiny Occamy's eyes blinked up at them, confused but curious.
Kowalski stood frozen, watching Newt with a mix of awe and disbelief. "I... I was just over there," he muttered, still trying to make sense of the situation. "And then I came over here... What is going on?"
Newt didn't answer him right away. Instead, he gently placed the baby creature into his case, whispering softly, "In you hop." As the little Occamy made its way inside, a loud screech echoed from the case.
Newt sighed and turned to calm his creatures. "Everybody settle down," he called firmly, his tone like a father scolding rowdy children.
"Stay... Dougal, don't make me come in there," he warned, a playful edge to his voice. Pickett, the bowtruckle, peeked out from Newt's coat pocket, his small face studying the commotion.
"Don't make me come down there," Newt repeated, a fond, half-amused smile playing on his lips.
But before he could settle things fully, the distinct sound of a voice in the bank safe caught his attention. He furrowed his brows and raised his wand.
"Alohomora," Newt muttered, watching as the modern safe's gears turned, slowly opening the door.
A figure stepped out from the staircase behind them and Newt's heart skipped a beat.
"Well, well, well," the man said with a sneer. "So, you're here to steal the money, are you?" It was Mr. Bringley, the man who had recently turned down Kowalski's bakery offer.
Bringley reached for an alarm button on the wall and pressed it causing a loud alarm to blast trough the building. Newt reacted with lightning speed.
"Petrificus Totalus!" Newt's voice was steady as Bringley froze mid-motion, his body stiff as a board. He toppled backward, crashing to the floor with a thud.
"Mr. Bringley!" Kowalski exclaimed, his face pale with shock.

Newt turned back to the safe, but his breath caught as he saw a familiar face inside the vault, surrounded by a mountain of coins.
There, standing with a mischievous glint in her green eyes, was Davina. She was holding Newt's Niffler by the feet, trying to extract as many coins as she could from its fluffy little body.
"You can't just go around stealing these coins, even if they're pretty," she scolded the creature, but there was an affectionate smile on her face.
Newt stood frozen in shock, his heart suddenly racing as he took in her appearance. It had been years since they last saw each other, and yet, she hadn't changed at all. Her brown hair was longer now, and her features more defined, but her smileโher smile was just as captivating as ever.
"Davina..." Newt whispered, his voice almost lost in the chaos around him.
Davina looked up and her face lit up with recognition. "Hey, Newton," she teased, her voice as warm and familiar as he remembered.
She carefully handed the Niffler back to him, but her eyes darted behind him, where the sound of footsteps was growing louder.
Before Newt could react, Davina grabbed him by the arm, pulling him toward Kowalski. The Muggle's eyes were wide with confusion, but Davina didn't have time to explain.
"Don't shoot!" Kowalski shouted as he raised his hands in panic. At the same moment, Davina apparated them out of the vault, the three of them landing safely in an alleyway outside the bank.

Newt, still trying to process everything, shoved the Niffler into his case. "Right," he muttered, "for the last time, you pilfering pest, paws off what doesn't belong to you."
Davina's gaze flicked nervously over to Kowalski, who looked like he might faint any second now. She stepped toward him with a concerned expression. "You okay?" she asked, her voice soft.
Kowalski nodded slowly, but he didn't seem convinced.
Suddenly, there was a scream from the front of the bank. "Someone's robbing the bank!!"
Davina peered around the corner of the alley, her eyes widening as she saw people scattering from the entrance, whistles blaring in the distance. Panic was spreading fast.
"Awfully sorry about all this," Newt muttered, trying to smooth over the situation, his tone apologetic as he adjusted his case. "Really, this isn't what it seems."
"What the hell was that?" Kowalski demanded, leaning against the wall for support. His head was spinning, and it was clear he was struggling to keep up.
Newt shot him a strained smile, still trying to process everything. "Nothing you need to worry about," he said reassuringly, though his nervousness was evident.
Just as Newt was about to continue, a familiar, stern voice interrupted them.
"Newt, you should hurry," Davina said quietly, her eyes scanning the area.
Newt turned, following her gaze up the staircase. His heart dropped when he saw a women watching them, her expression full of concern and disbelief.
She was watching them from above, and the last thing Newt wanted was for Davina to get into trouble again because of him.
"Goldstein..." Davina whispered annoyed but Tina was already gone, disappearing back down the staircase.
Before Newt could react, Kowalski, now fully panicked, raised his case high and swung it, knocking Newt in the head.
"Ow!" Newt yelped, stumbling as the man darted off into the busy streets.
"I'm sorry!" Kowalski shouted as he ran away, but Newt barely heard him, still reeling from the hit.
Davina caught Newt by the arm, steadying him before he could fall. She looked at him with concern, but there was something else in her eyes, something unreadable.
Newt, finally steady, took a deep breath, still processing everything that had just happened.
"W-What are you doing here?" he asked, his voice shaking slightly as he looked at her. It was the question that had been on his mind the whole time, but now that he could finally ask it, the words didn't seem enough.
